Twists and Turns

I finished writing the end of a scene from Galaxy Federal tonight. For months I have had it in mind but hadn't mustered the resolve to write it. The middle part of the scene was already on the page, more or less (though with frequent small revisions). The beginning part of the scene, meanwhile, remains only partially written. But it's also its own, distinct thing compared to the middle and end parts, which flow together and act as one. Really they are two scenes within a single event.

Finishing a scene is much less common for me than starting one, especially when it comes to bigger scenes that got a big burst of writing done on them at the onset and then languished on the page over a long period with only incremental revisions to the existing text and very little of the remaining unwritten text attempted at all. So it's always nice to add major new pieces onto an existing scene and actually finish it (even if in this case the beginning of the scene is still unfinished).

Excluding the beginning part of the scene, the middle and end parts are just over six thousand words, twenty-five hundred of which I wrote today. My first work on the scene dates all the way back to August! And all those frequent little revisions to the middle part, which is the main bulk of the scene, mean that that part of the scene reads really nicely now. It's a Command Deck scene, so there's lots of Ship's Business: jargon and numbers and so forth. This novel bridges the gap between hard and soft sci-fi; it's actually all hard sci-fi, but dressed in a way that often appears very soft. But this scene is one of the ones that'll eat normies for lunch, lol.

Or maybe not! I'd like to think my writing's charming even when it's technical.

#Galaxy Federal #This is the scene with phrases like “transmitting a red ellipse” and “random monocolor wavelengths and patterned hybrids” #At one point Cherry gives an order to the navigator that impresses even me because it makes perfect sense but I've never heard its likeness #It has to do with the fact that in space a change in acceleration will change your course and not just your speed #Unless you are traveling in a perfectly straight line (and accelerate in the exact same direction) #Which you're not doing because you are not God #And in space only God can travel in perfectly straight lines #That's why Lucifer is called crooked #And twisted #And tortured #Etymological deep cuts #It's actually wild to my sensibilities just how many words for “evil” ultimately boil down to the idea of “turning” #It feels like there is a really deep insight into human history here #Oh also I goozled myself when I had Cherry ask about the power level of a radio transmission #I had to spend like half an hour studying this to make sure I came up with a plausible wattage #Fiction is a lot easier to write when it isn't verifiable 😐

Note: It's been 84 years. I’m finally continuing my “Kalafina-hub” project. In the past I have gathered all sorts of HQ Kalafina content on my personal Google Drive to make everything easily accessible to fans. Recently I have switched to a second account with a huge 2TB plan which allows me to add even more stuff. Below you can find links to my old masterposts〈(•ˇ‿ˇ•)-→

I started with Kalafina’s complete works in MP3 and FLAC format. After all, what’s more significant than their music?

My next big category was dedicated to Kalafina’s official live releases (including live audio MP3s).

In my third masterpost I provided links for the bonus content available on Kalafina’s CD releases (including all PVs as well as various documentaries and additional live videos).

In my fourth post I shared all the official footage of Kalafina’s appearances at grand-scale anisong events (i.e. ANIMAX MUSIX, Animelo, LisAni).

For my fifth post I prepared all the Yuki Kajiura/FictionJunction lives (including live audio MP3s).

For this post, I’ve tried compiling video footage of all of Kalafina’s media appearances on TV, radio and various streaming services.

There are way too many videos to put them in this post so here’s what you need to know.

➔ The videos are listed in chronological order ❈ I’ve tried my very best to find the correct date for each and every media appearance but some of these videos are so old that I wasn’t able to trace them back

➔ The compilation is by no means exhaustive ❈ I wish I could say this was a complete collection but alas, there is a lot of content missing. I didn’t become a fan until 2010/2011 so I probably don’t have some of the super old stuff. I also didn’t always have the necessary resources/means so throughout the years I kept missing out on certain videos, simply because I couldn’t access/download them

➔ Some of these videos have abysmal quality ❈ I always took what I could get, not questioning the quality. I’m sure there are HQ versions out there for some of these appearances but right now, I have no way of getting my hands on them.

➔ This collection is a work in progress ❈ If I come across “new” old videos, I will be sure to add them to this folder. The same applies to better versions of already existing videos. If you notice anything obvious missing in my collection or if any of you happen to have HQ versions of some of the super crappy videos, please don’t hesitate to share them with me. I’d be very grateful!

➔ The content is not categorised ❈ I was having a hard time putting these videos together in certain sub-folders so for the most part I just kept them as they were in one big folder. Let me know if you have any issue accessing a certain folder!

➔ All of my old links to any of these videos no longer work ❈ As mentioned above, I’ve invested in a brand new Google Drive account with a much bigger storage plan and am currently moving everything over there. Some content still remains in my old account but most of it has already been deleted to free up storage space. This entire data migration and a recent anon request have actually motivated me to finally get my shit together and sort through all my random Kalafina videos which were scattered across different hard drives.

➔ No summaries/subtitles will be made available for any of the vids ❈  I have neither the skills nor the time to provide summaries or subs for all of these videos so please, don’t even ask. However, I have posted quite a lot of summaries in the past so if you go through my archive and browse through my posts (use the video date for reference), you might be able to find something.

no it’s just that since i wasn’t tempted by the hype here, when i saw louis’ tweets about it and him (or his Twitter anyway) actually complaining about it leaking (as opposed to him tweeting the home emoji when home leaked, or alternatively when Louis leaked home, aksnsjn), and it was so clear for so long that he worked on walls so hard, that he’s been looking for his own sound and the direction he wants to go, trying to also ascertain where he stands commercially, what are his priorities etc. etc. that i was able to go like ok you know what king? you got it. but eventually i caved (i was not able to live with the fact that there is a louis song I didn’t hear) and was forced to disagree with louis because it’s an absolute bop, i actually love the sound and his voice in it so much!!

#But I do think it belongs to his era of trying to navigate what he wants to do and where he wants to go #and i can see why for him it wouldn’t make the album #it’s more poppy and could go amazingly on the radio but maybe it felt too purposeful for him idk #but it works for me I do love it it’s very catchy and he sounds amazing!! #you know that time in fandom for me was actually very good because I never stopped keeping up with the boys at all I just didn’t blog about #them nor did I really read blogs or drama I really just looked at updates purely #just popped in from time to time #no anon hate that was nice #but I missed you all so much and so many times I was tempted to post and come talk to you guys about something #it was genuinely so weird to do some of those things just by myself ajsnjs #talk time with agnes
