Cornish quoit sketch | Limited edition fine art print from an original drawing. My sketches start life as hand-drawn graphite images made on cartridge paper. I often work on these with charcoal, oil pastel or Caran d'Ache to create the look I'm after. The artwork is then scanned and finessed digitally ready for fine art printing. Chûn quoit (from Chy Woon 'The House on the Downs'). An early neolithic quoit on Woon Gumpus Common, near Pendeen in Cornwall. According to Cornovia by Craig Weatherhill, Chûn quoit is one of the best preserved chamber of it's kind in Cornwall.

Possibly the most famous of all the megalithic sites in Kernow, if not the most visted. It was knocked down in a storm in 1815 before being re-errected with a significantly shorter stance in 1824. At its northern end is a mess of stones that were once a pair of cist tombs.
