‘Young Royals’ Season 2: An unhelpful guide to the first look at the upcoming season.
Tumblr media
Image 1: Crown Prince Wilhelm at home, eating with his parents: Her Majesty, Queen Kristina of Sweden and The Prince Consort, Ludvig
It’s so sad that there are only placements for the three of them. It’s like even Erik’s ghost is gone now. Also very telling how Kristina and Ludvig are all smiles and Wilhelm looks rather uninterested and resigned. This is probably going to be the start of the season before Wille goes off to Hillerska for the new semester. A goodbye dinner even, given the fanfare (correct me if I’m wrong but the ‘family dinner’ we saw in Season 1 looked a lot less formal).
Tumblr media
Image 2: Crown Prince Wilhelm shares a glance with his ex-lover, Simon Eriksson (guys they never even explicitly said they were together so they weren’t even boyfriends idt 😭)
This is their official return to Hillerska, I think. The students (maybe it’s the choir) are all lined up for a welcome ritual for the Crown Prince’s arrival. Simon is gonna try his best to avoid this boy. I just know it. And Wilhelm is gonna be devastated. He’s probably gonna be like “Simon” all happy and breathless and he’s gonna be met with a “Your Highness”. WRING ME AND HANG ME OUT TO DRY I’M GOING INSANE
Tumblr media
Image 3: Crown Prince Wilhelm frowning in focus (is that Henry right there?? I spy a redhead) while August, The Asshole of Arnås smiles in the blurred foreground.
This image does not sit right with me. What the fuck are you smiling about you weasel? I can’t believe Lisa casted Malte as this dickhead because his cute baby face is working so hard to curb my enthusiasm at the prospect of him getting beat up. It’s also quite strange that he seems to be the only one smiling in this frame?? Like literally everybody else is just… not paying attention or mad as fuck.
Fuck you, August.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Images 4 and 5: (ltr) Madison McCoy, Felice Ehrenchrona, Sara Eriksson, Stella, and Frederika. Sara Eriksson and August, The Asshole of Arnas.
First of all, Nikita with her natural hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let’s go!!!!! Represent for the curly girls!!! This is such a huge deal for me as a black female fan of the show and I’m sure for Felice as a character. It represents her breaking out of that mold her mother put her in before to conform to conventional beauty standards. Love that she’s embracing her hair. Anywho… I put these images in a cluster because to me it seems like it happens either in the same scene or set around the same time (given Sara’s wardrobe). It’s probably the same first day as they’re all still in uniform. I doubt Felice would take very kindly to Sara and August conversing given what she knows but she also doesn’t know that Sara knows, Sara and August, The Asshole, don’t know that Felice knows. So, I’m thinking Sara and August are speaking away from the group (perhaps after they’ve left or walked off). August, The Asshole, looks teed off so I’m assuming this is a confrontation of sorts where he accuses Sara of spilling the beans to Wille and she has to convince him that she didn’t. Wouldn’t it be just great if Felice saw this little exchange and confronted Sara about it and Sara confesses what happened to Felice?? Wouldn’t y’al just love to see Sara face some consequences?? 🤭
Fuck both Sara and August tbh
Tumblr media
Image 6: Felice Ehrencrona and Crown Prince Wilhelm share a quiet moment.
Wille looks so sad. Simon probably rejected him (as he should, let’s get one thing straight 😭), and Felice being the Best Friend Ever is rightfully trying to cheer Wille up. Wille had to make a lot of hard decisions last season, and those decisions hurt a lot of people, himself included. I hate what he did but it’s a messy situation all around and there’s really not much anyone can do about it. I believe in Wilmon Supremacy. Also, can I say that I love their friendship? I’m so happy that Felice, The Popular Rich Girl, is just.. so nice?? All hail.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Images 7 and 8: Simon Eriksson with best friends Ayub and Rosh + Crown Prince Wilhelm pining after Simon Eriksson in a classroom full of people.
I have TWO (2) theories about this set of photos. Given Simon’s wardrobe, I think it’s safe to say these scenes are probably close together (Omar was right, what is this kid wearing lmaooo). This is obviously during the week back (or even further in the semester) since the kids are back to regular clothing. My theories are more so with the order of these scenes.
Theory 1: Rosh and Ayub talk to Simon prior to the classroom scene where he tells them he’s gonna ignore Wille and they either stick by his decision or try to dig deeper into why he’s making said decision before he actually goes and ignores Wille in class ORRRRRRR
Theory 2: Simon ignores Wille in class and then tells Rosh and Ayub about it and they talk. I’m more inclined to believe this one because it makes more sense for him to meet up with his friends after school than it does for him to meet them before (assuming this is all the same day since he’s wearing the same clothes).
Let me also just take a moment to comment on Wilhelm’s very in-your-face staring here… like… he’s so obvious about it? And like, good for him?? Everyone else seems to be looking down at their books so maybe it’s a read aloud or a follow along but Wille’s not even trying to look like he’s paying attention. Also, how much do you wanna bet he kicked someone out of their seat to be able to sit with Simon? How many eyebrows do you think that raised? You go, Wille. Fight for your man.
Tumblr media
Image 9: Crown Prince Wilhelm and Simon Eriksson, with their team, during rowing team training (?)
Looooot of assumptions here but they’re all in uniform and we know they’re on the team so let’s assume this is canon.
There’s so much going on here. Simon is like… all up in Wille’s space. One hand around his waist (check the mirror) and another on his side. Obviously this is a team building exercise and it could mean absolutely nothing but the significance of Simon being the one to have direct physical contact with Wille is pretty telling iykwim. This picture also seems kind of strange to me as I don’t think it belongs to the rest of the cluster which I’m guessing is the first, or even second, episode of the new season. This picture is singular in arrangement. There’s no partner. I’m guessing it happens a little later on (3 or 4 maybe) and after Wilmon have had some sort of development. A talk maybe? Cleared the air at least. Established some necessary boundaries.
Also notice who is very strategically missing from this shot? The captain of the team. I hope he got expelled. 🫶🏽🫦
Anyways, this makes zero sense but it’s just the initial vibe that I’m getting from this set of photos. I’M SO EXCITED FOR WHAT’S TO COME!! Also, @ that one Netflix France employee that leaked the season was coming out in November, I hope you don’t get fired 😭😭

To me Wille’s character development this season is just such a good commentary on the environment he grew up in. On monarchies. How could he turn out any different than a mean, sad mess? When he’s never had a choice (he joins the choir because he likes Simon yeah, which is sweet, but also does he even like anything that he wasn’t told he should like)? When he doesn’t even know that he’s privileged (and on one side he’s got Simon telling him that everything is bad, on the other crowds of people telling him everything is good)? When the system is so oppressive that he’s alone at 16, with the responsibility and guilt of making his mom less sick or he’ll have to take her whole ass job. Of course Wille turned out bad. This is what we’ve been seeing for the whole series, that the oppressive systems like the monarchies are bad for everyone, either stuck in it or outside of it. It drives people to destroy everyone else for power (August). It drives people to cover whole ass crimes that their kids are victims of just to keep a fake reputation (the Queen). And now, it drives a grieving, lost and neglected kid to do the same thing to those he loves because that’s all he knows.
And there you’ve got Simon, who’s the first "thing" Wille has ever liked without being told to (he’s a person ofc but you know what I mean) and the first one that Wille probably knows, him always being in the same type of environment. And that doesn’t fit within the system. If he wants to keep Simon, as well as his own mental health and sanity, Wille needs to get out of the system. And I think this was exactly what s3 is trying to tell us. It’s a commentary on what being stuck in that system is. We see it with Felice too, she’s trying to get out of her own system and is making people mad by doing so. They’re all stuck in the system, and some people are happy to stay there (Frederika, Stella, Nils, Vincent…) and others have to fight to get out or they’ll lose themselves. This is exactly what’s happening to Wille, and now that the one thing he has, his relationship with Simon, is going to leave him… I think this will be the wake up call for Wille to realize that he can’t stay in this institution. He has to leave if he wants to be his own person.

Heteronormativity and So-Called "One-Time" Nature Of Queer Relationships
So the Supreme Court of India is conducting proceedings in response to petitions regarding legalising same-sex marriages in India. Debates are going on, some arguments from the opposition make my blood boil, some just make me plain sad.
But today I read an article about the ongoing case and how they potentially have to change the defintion of marriage in Indian law to pass this bill. The Chief Justice said that, "By legalising same-sex relationships, we have also enforced this implication that these relationships are to be treated with grace and respect, something which can last long-term, not something which is 'one-time' or won't last long unlike traditional marriages between a man and a woman".
And let me tell you, I LOVE reading unique case laws like this, they bring an exception to the ordinary by giving an interesting insight about human nature, about societal tendencies which we ALL have, but we fail to or don't bother to pinpoint them until they become the cause of some injustice at some point.
And I can't help but think about YR and how this tendency of seeing "same-sex relationships as a 'phase' or something that won't last forever" is so apparent in most societies, regardless of their socio-political atmosphere.
Like take August and Felice for example. It was a disastrous relationship from the start, but even the short time they were a "thing", everyone around them saw them as this "perfect couple who will date for years and years and get married one day" (except Maddie because she's a queen and always right). August especially internalised this feeling. Even with Sara, him making jokes about him being "the king" and Sara will be "the queen", like he was already so sure about the longevity of his relationship with Sara. There was this security in his mind, a possibility of a future with someone he loved.
But with Wilhelm and Simon, that feeling of "security" was very scarce for them, because circumstances always tried to rip them apart. Partly because of Wilhelm's title, but also because nobody(except a few people) saw their relationship as something past a hookup.
Like, it's kind of understandable because the Hillerska students never saw their tender moments like the audience did, but it's actually baffling to me that for a school whose social circles EAT gossip up, nobody assumed that they were in a relationship or atleast had FEELINGS for each other rather than being just a "one-time" thing.
Even Nils and Stella, aka queer people themselves have this thinking deep-rooted in their brains to an extent. Nils sees same-sex relationships as just "hookups at Verbier" and something to be kept "discreet". I don't think he sees the longevity in any relationship he would potentially pursue with a guy in the future(unless he does, then good for him). Stella also saw a potential relationship with Frederika as something doomed from the start. Which, again, losing your best friend to a break-up is a valid fear, but it also kinda explains Stella's fear of not trying at all. She doesn't see a future with Frederika regardless of how much she loves her.
I can bet that the Royal Court was clutching their every goddamn penny in the hopes that Wilhelm and Simon would be a "one-time" thing, that Wilhelm will "change his mind soon". They were never given a chance to think about a future, and it makes me so sad.
I hope this approach towards queer relationships changes gradually, and people can finally see that queer people can have as fulfilling relationships as straight people do. You need love to sustain a future, not a checklist of "socially-acceptable relationships".

Aug. 5, 1828 - Princess Wilhelmina Frederika Alexandrine Anna Louise (sometimes written as Luise) was born in the Hague as the daughter of Prince Frederik of the Netherlands and Princess Luise of Prussia. Her education was to a large extent entrusted to her Belgian governess and she studied French, German, English, Russian and piano. The latter is something she also continued as an adult.
King Oscar I of Sweden wished to secure connections between the new Bernadotte dynasty and the old dynasties of Europe and a Protestant Princess was also seen as necessary after two Catholic Queens in a row in Protestant Sweden-Norway. Louise fulfilled these credentials, plus a great dowry was expected from the rich House of Orange-Nassau. Therefore, in 1849, Louise was chosen as a suitable bride for the heir to the Swedish throne, Crown Prince Karl.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs began negotiations and a Cabinet Secretary was sent to inspect her. In his report back he let it be known that Louise “had an excellent education and a good character but was not attractive” (quote simplified for clarity). A meeting was arranged between Louise and Karl where reportedly, Louise fell in love and felt an immediate attraction while Karl was disappointed in her appearance. The Crown Prince, however, was convinced to agree to the marriage by his father and the engagement was announced the following year.
During the engagement, Louise studied the Swedish language and history, though she never learnt Norwegian. Upon moving to her new country, her official name was changed to Lovisa.
Lovisa was not considered a social success, her timid and shy nature and tendency to suffer so-called nervous attacks were not appreciated by those of high society, though she had the sympathy and love of the wider Swedish public due to her husband's many and not-so-secret affairs. It was reported in the court chronicle that: “Lovisa could at any time faint and in connection to this, she could have what is called nerve- or cramp-attacks.” While today we may interpret this as epileptic episodes, back then it was interpreted as a hysterical reaction to her husband’s neglect.
Photo 1: Painting of Queen Lovisa from The Royal Court of Norway. Photo 2: Photograph of Queen Lovisa circa 1860 (photographer unknown, 8.3 x 4.8 cm), from the collection of Prince Albert, the Prince Consort. Photo 3: Photograph of King Karl XV, Queen Lovisa and their daughter Princess Lovisa (photographer and year unknown). Photo 4: Portrait of Queen Lovisa by Court Photographer Johannes Jaeger, 1869. Believed to be the oldest Jaeger photograph in the Royal Court's collections, from the Bernadotte Library's archive.

The Gilded Age's Broadway Divas: Dorothy Scott (Audra McDonald)
As Peggy Scott's pianist mother, Dorothy isn't afraid to give her husband a piece of her mind at every opportunity. Though enmeshed in bettering Black society up north, she worries for her daughter's safety down south. As she should.
Tumblr media
Here she is boys, here she is world, the one you've all been waiting for. Six-time Tony winner Audra McDonald. *The* Broadway Diva. Our reigning queen. Our legend. Our great soprano. Audra has won more Tony Awards for performance than any other actor, and is the only one to have an award in each of the four competitive categories for which she is eligible (Best Leading Actress in a Play/Musical, Best Featured Actress in a Play/Musical). As such, she is one of three theatre greats to have nominations across said categories: the others being the late greats Jan Maxwell and Angela Lansbury. With ten nominations in total, she is tied with Julie Harris and Chita Rivera for most performance nominations and will certainly surpass them the next time she comes to Broadway.
Audra McDonald's repertoire is so vast that this post became the hardest to narrow down. I have elected to highlight a little of everything: songs from shows that deserve a little more love here on Tumblr, Audra favorites, obscure gems, etc.
#1: "The Glamorous Life," Sondheim's 80th Birthday Celebration (2010)
youtube
We have no choice but to start with Sondheim. The third of six performers in the iconic Ladies in Red segment of the Sondheim 80th Birthday Concert, Audra takes on this exquisite A Little Night Music number sung by the teenaged Frederika in the movie version (we don't talk about it).
Among Sondheim standards such as "The Ladies Who Lunch" (Patti LuPone) and "Losing My Mind" (Marin Mazzie), some considered the inclusion of this number a little misplaced. I adore it.
According to the Word of God (Donna Murphy), some of the Ladies in Red were being sewed or even taped into their dresses just minutes before taking the stage.
#2: Lady Day at Emmerson's Bar and Grill (2014)
youtube
Though this particular show features music throughout and has a phenomenal cast album, it is classified as a "play with music," thus Audra was able to win her multi-record-breaking Tony in 2014. She plays the iconic Billie Holiday in 1959 at the tail end of her career. Here, she performs in a run-down nightclub and grows increasingly drunk and demoralized throughout the evening. It is an incredible piece of both singing and acting.
#3: "As You Make Your Bed," Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny (2007)
youtube
Though the costume is something I feel we should all bear witness to, Audra's demonstration of her full operatic range adds another layer of excellence. A Weill and Brecht collaboration, Rise and Fall of the City of Mahogonny was first performed in 1930. This clip is from the 2007 Los Angeles Opera production starring Audra and Patti LuPone. Audra plays Jenny Smith, "a whore." The production was recorded for PBS's Great Productions and won two Grammy Awards.
Truly, is there anything Audra can't do?
#4: "Wheels of a Dream," Ragtime Reunion (2023)
youtube
Ragtime. Oh, Ragtime. That we live in a world where Ahrens and Flaherty's magnum opus lost Best Musical to The Lion King is my villain origin story. Natasha Richardson (Cabaret) beating out Marin Mazzie for Leading Actress is something I have to accept, but this? In 1998, Ragtime won Best Book, Best Original Score, Best Orchestrations, and Best Featured Actress for Audra McDonald's glorious Sarah. Sarah is a young woman at the turn of the century who has a baby with Brian Stokes Mitchell's (Broadway's Leading Man) Coalhouse Walker, and is taken in by Mother (Marin Mazzie), an upper-class white woman with no name after she is caught having partially buried the living child in Mother's yard. It is a masterpiece of musical talent with a breathtaking score and story.
This role won Audra her third Tony in the span of five years. Listening to Audra and Stokes reunite may well be the closest you ever get to hearing divinity. I implore you to seek out the full original cast album.
A reunion concert was planned for April 2020, but was postponed until this past year with Kelli O'Hara stepping in for the late Marin Mazzie as Mother. The concert was done as a benefit for the Entertainment Community Fund, and dedicated in memory of Marin, who passed away in 2018 from ovarian cancer, book-writer Terrence McNally who died of COVID complications in 2020 (lung cancer), and director Frank Galati, who died in 2023, also of cancer complications.
#5: Master Class (1995)
youtube
Master Class is yet another Terrence McNally work, this one a play depicting a fictionalized master class given by opera singer Maria Callas towards the end of her life. Audra, as Sharon, takes the part of her student, the second soprano. This play won Audra her second Tony, and garnered a Tony for the brilliant leading actress Zoe Caldwell, whom Audra partially named her firstborn child after some years later. Her daughter's middle name is in honor of Audra's other close friend, the late Madeline Kahn, who like Marin Mazzie, died of ovarian cancer at 57, the same age, though many years prior.

“Sophie arrived to visit Alice on her way to India. She came with an invitation, this time from the Queen, to come to live at Buckingham Palace. She warned her mother of the dangers of staying in Greece, as outlined to her by Philip in England, and by her husband, Prince George, who had been briefed by his sister Queen Frederika.
Alice had been fiercely independent for many years but lately her sense of isolation and loneliness had intensified. She listened with interest to Sophie’s proposal and the problem of the King’s plane. When she heard that it was the Queen herself who had issued the invitation her eyes brightened. ‘Lilibet said that?’ she asked. ‘We go this afternoon.’”

Re: the anon who said racism/colorism isn't really addressed, though I don't exactly disagree with you, I also don't think it's non-existent.
In 2.6 (maybe 2.5, I forgot which episode exactly), when the girls are being briefed on what to do when the queen arrives, the housemistress tells Felice to put her hair up, to which we see Frederika also quickly put her hair into a ponytail. Now, every girl is wearing a ponytail in that scene, so it's definitely part of the etiquette, but it's very telling that Felice is told off about it, and Frederika isn't.
There's also the fact that in the first episode Felice almost cried because her hair started curling, because she didn't think her natural, curly hair was pretty.
Colorism/racism is present in Young Royals, but very subtle. and I do think we might see a bit more of it in s3

I wonder if people finding out about Sara and August will parallel, in a certain way, people finding out about Felice and Wille (aka the classic girls should be virgins and boys are acclaimed for their high body count).
When people found out Felice had "slept" with Wille (because that’s pretty much what the gossip turned into), Felice was labeled as this girl who just wants to get further up the hierarchy. She’s making her way up by sleeping with August and then the Crown Prince, and she’s basically shamed for being a slut. Felice was ostracized a bit (not completely, she’s still Felice after all, the queen bee of Hillerska) by her peers for having bagged those two boys.
Wille on the other end is celebrated for sleeping with Felice. It is, in part, a celebration of his heteronormativity (thank god the gay adventure he had with Simon is over, he finally found his way back to a good girl) but another part is that he was caught with Felice. It was established in the first episode that Felice is the girl to have. She’s modern nobility, the perfect girl to marry.
So, there’s some misogyny at play here: Felice is slut shamed for sleeping with both August and Wille, while Wille is acclaimed for sleeping with her.
When people learn that Sara was sleeping with August, she was also shamed for being with her best friend’s ex. Of course, many (but not all) people will think that it’s just not cool and sure, it isn’t especially when August is August. That being said, we saw all the girls of Manor House (not just Stella and Frederika) there to gossip and point fingers at Sara, shamming her for being with August. Do I think it’s cool to sleep with your friend’s ex? Not really, or at least not if your bff isn’t okay with it. Do I think random schoolmate getting their nose into it is cool? No, especially when they’re not your friends. And we know that Sara has never been one of them, they won’t hesitate to rip into her now that she isn’t in Felice’s favours.
We haven’t seen a reaction to August sleeping with Sara yet and I don’t know if words have reached everyone else yet when the jubilee takes place. The only students we saw interact with August are Vincent and Nils, and they didn’t seem to either be aware or care about it. If we look at the patterns of how the students act around another, how they react to those type of things, I’m expecting August to have it much easier than Sara will. After all, for him it could be a joke (how many times have the jock played with the people at the bottom of the school’s hierarchy? Many times is the answer, especially in media). Furthermore, August has already done something like that and we haven’t seen him be shamed by his peers (maybe he was and it just wasn’t a pov we saw but I don’t think so). Felice broke up with him on insta and made it public knowledge that he had kissed her bff behind her back. Yet, did he have any social consequences for going for his girlfriend’s best friend? Of course not, other than maybe a bruised ego from being dumped like that. But still, we haven’t seen any rumours about it. Maybe there have been some but clearly they are not as important as they would have been if their genders were reversed.
I’m also wondering how that will affect Simon in all of that. It’s funny to joke about Linda’s good genes for both her kids to make royalty fall in love with them but if you look at it from those rich snobby students’ point of view… they will probably think that Simon and Sara are just trying to make their way in another social and economical class. And that will probably hurt Simon a lot when it comes a from the other students and how they act around him. I don’t think Sara getting with August because of his status is that bad (I’m neutral about someone doing that, I’d say) especially considering he was with her for his own selfish reasons too (how she wronged her loved ones by being with August of all people is bad tho, knowing what he did). I’m sure the other students won’t think the same, which is hypocritical considering that most girls probably want the same with Wille. And, it’s simply not the case with Simon. Wille’s status was something that set them back, it isn’t something Simon wants for himself.
This got away from me but all in all, and unless Sara calling the police on August has immediate consequences for him, I’m looking forward to seeing if they will be treated in the same fashion as Felice and Wille, and how it will affect Simon too.

What are 5 things you are hoping for in season 3? I'll start. 5) Simon and Wille holding hands in the hallways at Hillerska. 4) More of Simon Singing. 3) The F*ing Queen being a mother first and a monarch second. 2) More Wilmon Kisses. 1) A love interest for Felice who actually cares for her and treats her like a princess!
Ahhh I'm sorry it took me so long to get to this I'm bad at asks 😂 this is fun though!
1. I want more Kristina and Wille time so she can understand him better
2. More Stella and Frederika story 💜
3. Wille x therapy continues
4. The return of soft wilmon scenes (I'm talking date by the river from s1 level precious)
5. I'd like to see the ripple effects of Wille's coming out on the other queer students at Hillerska, and any change he begins to inspire in them.

Indonesia 🇮🇩 The Snake Queen (1982) Nyi Blorong dir. Putra
Tumblr media
🌋 The Indonesian island of Java is almost entirely of volcanic origin, and contains numerous volcanoes, 45 of which are considered active volcanoes.
Tumblr media
🐲No wonder the underground world was believed to be full of dragons and gods. Indonesia covers 300 different ethnic cultures in 17 000 islands (!) Such a rich culture. In Indonesia, all the mythology can be about Deities and Demons in common.
Tumblr media
🎭Before the actress Suzzanna Martha Frederika van Osch was seen on the screen playing the demon goddess Nyi Blorong, many of these characters had only vague descriptions. These mythological characters queen & Blorong are from the Java and some smaller islands. The Queen Nyai Roro Kidul is a patron of fishermen, often described with a fish tail.🧜‍♀️
Tumblr media
🐍According to (Wessing 2007) queen is not Blorong’s mother like in the film. Blorong was born from a snake’s egg and she can also completely turn into a snake. In the film the characters of the queen and the demon are also mixed together.
Photo: Indonesian Goddess statuettes with fish & snake tail
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Photos: Indonesian fashion model & Nyi Blorong TV adaptation
Demon Blorong uses people mainly for her palace, not for sex like in the movie, sexuality is the queens quality. Queen of the sea is like a mermaid. The best way to be captured in the kingdom of the sea is to dress in green like she does.💚
Tumblr media
✂️Better copy was censored, but the dubbed version was bad in quality. Funny&campy but I think this was very interesting search…⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️
🎧 Listen Indonesian Gamelan music and watch dancing from video below.
I would also recommend Suzzanna’s other film:
The Queen of Black Magic (1981, remake 2019) is another Indonesian horror classic with elements of witchcraft. A woman is accused of being a witch and thrown to her death over a cliff. A man rescues her, nurses her back to health, and is told that she must master black magic in order to exact vengeance.
