I clean my room and my shoes
But my mother found a box of blues
And there doesn't seem much hope
They'll let me stay

I went back to the doctor to get another shrink
I sit and tell him 'bout my weekend
But he never betrays what he thinks
Can you see the real me, doctor? Doctor!
Can you see the real me, doctor? Oh, doctor!

'Pete's theme' from Quadrophenia (1973) by The Who (X)
One of the primary themes/leitmotifs of the album, 'Pete's theme' (or the 'love-theme') can be heard throughout the album in various forms:
-- and finally it culminates in the phenomenal ending track 'Love Reign O'er Me':

Jimmy becomes new Tumblr Sexyman au
Was watching Quadrophenia with a friend for the first time and it occurred to me that Jimmy could be a Tumblr sexyman to which they said "I hate that but you're right" to which I responded "this man is oncelor-coded". I hate the fact that those words came out of my mouth, but this is how we decided it would go down
The Quadrophenia film breaches Wholigan containment
People start baby-girling Jimmy without context
A fandom forms around fancasts, fanart, and HCs while most people haven't seen the film nor realise there's an album
Timothée Chalamet is fancasted as Jimmy
This whole mod vs rocker division happens on Tik Tok and Instagram
People create playlists with Lana del Rey
then some start actually watching the film and all the "problematic fandom " posts start coming out
Finally people listen to the album, discover Doctor Jimmy and try to cancel the Who
Pete Townshend vaguely mentions it in concert

I have to be careful not to preach
I can't pretend that I can teach
And yet I've lived your future out
By pounding stages like a clown
And on the dance floor broken glass
And bloody faces slowly pass
The numbered seats in empty rows
It all belongs to me, you know
