The beginning of EoD, with the whole "Hey you almost died in an airship crash and spent about a week on what is effectively - to the commander and their guild - experimental life support" thing? Really put a bug in my ear about my Qirri.

When you've got weak lungs and brittle health as it is, it's probably really easy to be paranoid about the care you received. Qirri definitely spent at least a couple nights having trouble sleeping and fussing with her devices and medication, concerned about whether the whole situation made her existing conditions even worse.

Those of you who know Qirri already know anyway, but she was developed before I knew about Taimi at all. So she and Taimi are chronic illness besties, though Qirri's is more a brittle immune system and weak lungs. She makes the best of it and has traveled with @the-proofreader's Garrus off and on for multiple World Ending Events, but she often has to return to Rata Sum or the Priory just for health needs.

Zanthe, what was your most awkward interaction with Qirri?

"All? Is all a good answer?" He grimaces.

"Probably... oh cogs. I know when. It was in Orr. My... passenger was getting particularly loud, and I was overwhelmed, and things kept... leaking out. I don't think I ever spoke for him, but I was definitely talking back at him. If that makes sense. Poor Qirri was so confused, and I don't think I ever managed to apologize properly for it..."

I think Chip would be fun here.

More than anything, he would have a great admiration for her. Chip may have a missing paw, but Qirri has a much rougher health debilitation to handle. And despite that he can see how strong she is to keep going on, she's got herself a golem to help her fight that she upkeeps. Sometimes she's downright ferocious in a way that reminds him of his half-sister Nastazya. He can appreciate an asura, especially one like Qirri, to just bite back at the world like that. (ps Phlunt still deserved it)

Chip has a personal goal in aiding people with physical ailments, mainly in prosthetics. He may not be able to aid her with this, but he'd still cheer her on for what she does. He'd also never demean her by calling her 'cub' because he knows she tries harder than a lot of grown charr he's known.

Alternative ending to Garrus's WLB AU

(because I like hurting @ratasumportauthority. This is the third section of the event for context, where in the original story I had Garrus face the dead members of his warband from the start of the charr personal story. Bold text is from the original, everything else is new. Setup over!)

“Commander, look out-!” Rama shouted. Garrus turned his head just in time to see the demon swinging at his head. Once again he hit the ground, this time his head bouncing off so hard that the breather with its special Jade Brotherhood filters was knocked away from his muzzle. He shoved himself up, reaching for his breather, but froze as a familiar wheezing made all four of his ears prick up. He spun around and felt his fur ripple upward again at the tiny pale form on the ground, struggling to pull air in. "Why..." he managed after a moment, unable to move. "You were down with Yao..." "You..." Her voice was so weak. "You brought me here. That's why..." "No, Qirri. Don't say it like that. If I had known I would have sent you back-" To sit out again, like you're something fragile. He tried again. "I would have made sure you were better equipped." "Well... you didn't... did you." Her red eyes rolled upward to look at him, accusingly. "I followed you everywhere. And you led me here. They warned you the air wasn't right and you still kept on going. You've killed me." "No," he whispered, as the first tears started rolling down his muzzle. "Don't- I'll get you out-" "It's too late," she wheezed, and her head rolled away from him, just as the demon appeared from nowhere to stride over her to attack. Garrus, caught completely off-guard in the midst of his grief, managed to direct Cailin to strike as he fumbled for his hammer. Once he had it, he directed all of his anger and pain into his blows.

For a while, it seemed like their combined attacks, along with what Rama was doing, was finally working…

And then it abruptly disappeared.

“What happened?” Garrus tried to shout, but it didn’t come out. Instead it suddenly felt like every ounce of his strength was suddenly gone, as if something was dragging it out of him, and he dropped to his knees.

“Something’s wrong with Qirri-!” he heard from Gorrik in the distance, and everything disappeared in a blanket of gray.

HAPPY 10TH, QIRRI!

Ten years and tens of dozens of stories.

While she's not my oldest character, or even actually my second (Oaklinna is my oldest, and I made a couple others who were deleted years ago before her), she WAS my first asura. Qirri started out as something of a joke and a challenge- could I make an albino asura who was also just way too dang cute for her own good.

And I did! Here she is when I first made her- it would be a year after I made her before we got the hairstyle kit that really elevated her to an S Tier Rat:

From a stubborn, angry, scared fifteen year old girl who ran away from home to try to make a name for herself to the grown up krewe chief we know and love today, she's genuinely my favorite of all my characters, and she really got me into playing with the storytelling of this game. She got me into the lore and worldbuilding, and the past and fascinating storytelling that exists under the surface with the asura as a whole.

And, of course, my most beloved thing about her story: her little sister/big brother relationship with @wall-legion's big boy Garrus Firstblood, who adopted her into his warband.

If it hadn't been for Qirri, I may not have stayed as into GW2 as I am.

And thanks to being here, I got to meet a lot of really fun, really fascinating people and make some great friends.

So props to our tiniest little chronically ill albino terror. And here's to, hopefully, another ten years great years. Who knows where the story will take us all next?

Who do we have the pleasure of speaking with today?

Qirri! Technically Qirri Tinkerfirst. My best friend made me an honorary member of his warband, hence the very charr sounding moniker.

What's your background? Where do you come from?

I grew up in Rata Sum, which is probably not surprising.

What are some important relationships in your life? (romantic, platonic, familial, etc)

Well, my dad... my older sister Rissia, obviously. My best friend, Garrus Firstblood. And, of course, the Dragonwatch Krewe, my partners. Romantic partners. It's complicated.

Have you done anything you'd like to brag about?

I started college at twelve! I would have graduated much earlier, too, but my health didn't allow it. Sixteen is still fairly early, though. And! I've won the Snaff Savant prize!

What's your profession? What does a typical day look like for you?

I'm the krewe chief of the Dragonwatch Krewe. Currently we're in Cantha backing up the research into the energy crisis. It's get up, breakfast, work until lunch, work until afternoon nap time with Taimi, work until dinner, relax the rest of the day. I'll take breaks now and then for health related reasons too. Sometimes we also have break days to work on unrelated projects, like my medical devices and mobility aids.

What are some hobbies you enjoy?

My focus in college was on medical aids, such as mobility devices and medical apparatuses, like my nebulizer or my golem JUICE, which serves as both a combat mech and a field triage unit.
