PLOT:

 Elena and Mateo finally get together with Carla and Naomi’s help the night of her coronation. They spend the night together, Elena voicing her intent to marry Mateo, now that she is fully aware of the strength of their bond and the true love their friendship has turned into.

All happy plans are spoiled the next day when the Queen’s council arrives, informing Elena of her duty to marry a noble from another country. Elena and Mateo fight to stay together but in the end Elena’s sense of duty wins over. To stop the conflict with Galdiz and save her people, Elena agrees to marry Don Diego de la Vega, leaving her heart broken. To not complicate the situation further, Mateo and Elena agree to stay away from each other, meeting only for official matters as Master Royal Wizard and Queen.

Diego arrives with his father and twin sister Ines. Despite their agreement, Mateo cannot resist the magnetic pull between them and watches Elena greeting her fiancé from afar. As soon as everyone has left the docks, Elena gives in to her daydreams.

Her longing for Mateo manifests in vivid dreams and the morning of the wedding Elena is consoled by Ines, who heard Elena’s scream. She tells the reluctant Queen that knowing her brother’s sense of duty, she is confident that the marriage will finally bring peace to their kingdoms. This talk strengthens Elena’s resolve to put on a brave face.

 During the ceremony both Elena and Mateo try to pull themselves together but are ultimately unable to convince anyone. Mateo breaks down when he sees Elena giving her vows, which triggers Elena’s own memories of the week before when Diego settled in in the palace.

 Taking a tour in the garden, Mateo and Elena met by chance. She was desperate to keep him by her side, at least as her Royal Wizard and friend, but Mateo could not answer her request, afraid to give in if he stays and plans to leave for a few weeks the day after the ceremony. As the wedding night has come, Elena is overwhelmed by her memories of Mateo after her coronation and turns down Diego’s advances. The next day Diego and Elena run into Mateo in the library as he is about to pack for his journey.

Feeling sad for Elena’s depression and having picked up on their odd behavior, Diego confronts them with their obvious attraction to each other. Afraid that Diego will end their marriage and plunge Avalor into war, Elena quickly denies everything, but Diego is neither fooled nor angry. At the court at home in Galdiz it is perfectly normal for rulers to have mistresses, so he is relaxed about Elena being happy with Mateo, as long as Diego himself stays her Prince Consort for official appearances. They agree that any children that Elena will have in the future will officially be Diego’s and Royal Heirs to Avalor.

Two days later Elena discovers that she has been pregnant since her coronation. Crown Princess Anita Felicia de la Vega Castillo grows up as Diego and Elena‘s child. Diego is afraid of dangerous intrigues if word gets out that she is Mateo’s daughter. As long as Anita is a small child, all three parents agree to keep it that way to prevent Anita from suddenly calling Mateo her “papi” in front of the entire court before she can truly think about the political consequences of her actions.

Anita develops strong magical powers and Mateo gives her lessons. He is proud when her positive emotions can be controlled without repressing them but also feels guilty. It is his fault that Anita has to deal with the overwhelming amount of raw magic inside from both Elena’s crystal powers and his own Maruvian wizard genes. And is hurts having to call his daughter “princess” but he does his best to watch over Anita without her realizing it.

One day however, Anita stumbles upon Mateo and Elena meeting up and kissing after her magic lesson, overhearing Mateo’s search for comfort after telling Elena how much it hurts to not be ably to be openly affectionate with his own daughter. Anita storms off angrily and accuses her whole life of being a lie. Is Elena even her real mother?

 Elena is too hurt to follow her immediately and Anita runs away, hiding in her room. Elena comes in to talk and Anita is still angry that she cheated on Diego. Elena explains the situation, how her bond with Mateo started eleven years ago when he helped to free her from the Amulet she had been imprisoned in for 41 years. Their friendship grew and four more years went by before Elena realized that their bond had turned into love shortly before she had to marry Diego. Anita forgives her parents and Elena apologizes for not telling her sooner. Diego has been watching the exchange and is welcomed in by Anita with open arms.

That night the whole family is together for dinner. Ines is keeping the conversation going while Elena and Mateo can finally be openly happy together. Diego has found his own love in the Royal Gardener Carmen, who is a frequent guest at their table. Diego fondly watches how happy Elena is now and remembers their first tense meeting while Elena gives him a thankful smile, making her own cheeky comments about Diego and Carmen’s relationship. Now that Anita knows everything, Mateo can finally be part of the family dinner and Elena con openly comment on Diego and Carmen’s love. Anita is just happy that there are no secrets anymore, that everyone is happy and that she finally knows where the missing parts of her identity - her strong magic and clumsiness - come from.

Anita and Mateo work together to create a way to channel her unique magic, combining a crystal scepter with a chispa core used for tamborita magic, using elements from both types of magic that create Anita’s unique powers.

~First of all, the meet cute is ADORABLE (doubly so bc it was the dog matchmaking for his owner). They are so sweet and cute together. Roger is a goofy musical man who waltzes his wife around and is very fond of his little family. Anita is a bit bland but she's also very supportive of her husband and plays along with his goofs and has fun with it! They're just really cute. ~Cutest Disney couple ! ~their dogs’ love is the focus of the movie but they’re really sweet too, especially the meet cute

Ray and Evangeline/The Blue Fairy The Princess and the Frog/Pinocchio

I am McFreaking convinced that Evangeline is actually the Blue Fairy-- they're the same freaking star, both blue, both are the centerpiece of wishes in both stories. The Blue Fairy is an immortal being that can take the shape of anything, is it really that farfetched she can take the shape of a firefly? And also, when Ray dies and becomes the star right next to her, she also becomes the Second Star to the Right like in Peter Pan (though the time periods are different). Iconic, truly iconic.

I don't want to go too in depth on the things that are a part of Instructions Not Included, but here's a few :)

Aurora and Phillip encourage Mal's art by letting her paint murals in select rooms of their castle

When Mal shows an interest in colleges, Aurora escorts her to some of the top art schools in Auradon. Mal knows nothing about filling out applications or scheduling tours, so Aurora takes it upon herself to help Mal like she does Audrey

Phillip offers to teach her fencing and Mal originally objects because she doesn't want to imagine him stabbing her mother, but she watches him practice a few times and tries it. She doesn't end up liking it, but she sticks with it long enough to know the basics

Snow White does Evie's hair at night because it was something her mother did for her before passing away. The Evil Queen was never gentle with Evie, yanking her hair and causing tears, so Snow is very gentle and teaches Evie to be gentle with her hair

When they know each other well enough, Evie likes to make them matching accessories, especially scarves, but also jackets and headbands. She even makes Snow matching pajamas for when Evie stays the night

Evie and Snow White bond over cooking. Evie was trained to be the best by her mother and Snow fed seven men, so they're both experts at it and trade secrets. They would sometimes go out to eat, but every dish they got, they knew they could make it better

Anita and Roger invite Carlos to come to dog parks with them. He's still shy of big dogs, so they make sure to keep an eye out for any

While they don't understand it at all, they encourage the engineer/scientist in Carlos with books and kits

Whenever one of their phones isn't working, Anita and Roger bring it to Carlos who fixes it usually within a day

Jay is very adamant that he should be allowed to ride on a tiger and an elephant in Agrabah and Jasmine tries desperately to explain that they're wild animals

But when she turns her back, Aladdin is encouraging it and eager to join

Aladdin and Jasmine send Jay books on speaking Arabic so he can practice. He's really self conscious of it, so he tries to never speak it to them

So i dont have a whole big backstory idea for Cruella like I did Maleficent/Queen Grimhilde/Lady Tremaine but I had so much fun drawing younger versions of them I couldn't stop xD

So here's my take on young Cruella, inspired by some early Younger Versions concept art done by the marvelous Marc Davis.

I did have a little bit of ideas for her Disney Animated Version backstory, based off of her various other versions:

She's a once famous fashion designer who's fallen on hsrd times due to changing trends and poor management, and part of her wanting to create a dalmation puppy coat is to respark her carrier with a new sensation

She's the daughter of Lord Vladimer DeVil and Lady Diamanda Hellman, who was also a fashion designer in the 1890s-1900s.

Named Estella originally, Cruella was nickname she earned and owned in school and had it legally changed to later as part of her brand

Anita used to work for her before marrying Roger, was basically peer pressured into it by Cruella from their school days association, and was happy to leave the oppressive work environment Cruella created.

She met Horace and Jasper when they were dumb enough to try and rob her, and has had them in her pocket with blackmail ever since

She's married to a furrier who she never sees except for when she has need of his furrier services--married him so he'd be loyal to only her company

And a little crack-ish theory: Her family are descendant of Princess Ivy from Sofia the First, from whence they get their naturally two toned hair (at some point she or a descendant came over into 'Our World' from the Everrealm)

(Also smoking/stress has really done a number on her in a very few years--so don't smoke and practice self care kids! There's your PSA for the day )

PLOT:

The night of her Coronation Elena finally finds the courage to confess her feelings to Mateo, but as soon as she is there her words are stuck in her throat. Unable to speak, she conveys the message by kissing Mateo, leaving him stunned. Afraid that she has destroyed their long friendship, Elena is about to apologise when the Royal Wizard kisses her back with the emotion and enthusiasm, he had hold inside for over the last year.

Back in the present Mateo is at Elena’s wedding as her Best Man, sad and bitter while Elena does her best to force a cheerful exterior to not cause a storm with her magic and turmoiled emotions. Valentina, the bridesmaid, seeks out Mateo at the edge of the party, wondering about Elena’s behaviour.

In the short time she had known the Queen and her Royal Wizard, their chemistry and connection was undeniable. Hurt, angry and heartbroken, Mateo tells her how Elena fought for their relationship and how the new Queen’s council pushed her in the political marriage for the good of Avalor, causing Elena to sacrifice her happiness with no alternative.

When Elena told him she kept herself together but as soon as she walked away both broke down in tears, remembering the times they could comfort each other through Mateo’s grief after the death of his grandfather.

Having heard the story, Val tries to cheer Mateo up, suggesting that Elena should dance with him one last time for old times sake. Flushed, Mateo quickly shuts her down, hinting at the intimacies the night of Elena’s coronation: everyone in the room would see their bond, especially with Elena’s emotion magic. Not wanting to destroy Elena’s wedding, Mateo stays silent.

Meanwhile, Elena sadly returns to her husband’s side, watching Val and Mateo with a bittersweet feeling. Val tries to cheer Mateo up by dancing with him and Elena puts on a brave face. While she has sacrificed her happiness for the kingdom, she hopes that at least Mateo will find consoling friendship and maybe even more in Val to heal over time.

She remembers the adventures the three have had together, while watching Mateo and Val dance. A month passes and Elena is unhappy in her marriage. Mateo bonds with Val, especially over their interest in magic, and she often visits him in his workshop, willing to make him feel better. He still keeps the locket Elena gave to him, feeling her pain.

 One day though, a flower, grown by Elena’s magic triggered by her sudden happiness lands on the locket and Mateo is glad that her mood has improved. He is unaware of the reason: Elena has discovered that she is pregnant. While anxious to tell anyone, the happiness wins over the moment Mateo opens the locket. Val, who has noticed the pregnancy signs before anyone else, including Elena, urges the Queen to tell Mateo of the baby since he is the only one who can be the father.

Once again gathering her courage, Elena visits Mateo, watching him work and is instantly smitten again. Val is there to make sure Elena goes through with her confession.

 As soon as they see each other they are drawn together and Elena’s dress turns pink, her magic reacting to the overflowing emotions while Val roots for the two. Overcome by their combined love and magic, Elena’s dress glows an even brighter pink when Mateo touches her belly.
