#i think some talks of “cultural imperialism” is not entirely correctly analyzed academically #because some people were receptive to certain ideas and movements #because you know... that's how culture works #i will say printing in “islamic” book history spaces is less of a big deal than in european book history #i mean its still kinda important #but i think a lot of book history analysis fails to recognize how printing presses worked and still work in tandem to hand made manuscripts #i put “islamic” in quotes because its a contested term among a lot of people and is pretty loosely defined but it is the usual term #for these sorts of things

man people REALLY can't tell when larian is full on joking in their patch notes, huh? the gale thing was a legitimate bug and people are crying that they changed him as they did lae'zel. reading comprehension these days is abysmal.

I can't be surprised, though, because back when astarion's kiss animation was bugged, I saw discussions that it was "suspicious" that his kiss animation wasn't bugged for the default guy body, but was bugged for the default gal body. you know, as if larian somehow fucked up their own game's code on purpose, specifically to slight women who want to romance a canonically bisexual man that has flirtatious dialogue with the lady companions regardless of your tav's interest in him. totally checks out.

the complaints about changing lae'zel are entirely valid and I agree that her personality should not be toned down to appeal to the delicate sensibilities of the heterosexual man. I'm fairly certain that lae'zel's change was actually the only one that intentionally altered a companion's dialogue to be less abrasive. the alleged change to shart was also a bug fix, not an attempt to alter her character, if I remember correctly.

but by all means, let's accuse the devs of "ruining the game" every time they improve it. even better, let's all campaign for the addition of another romance! solely so that we can have sex with a popular NPC! rather than, oh I don't know, putting more pressure on them to add more material to the stories of wyll & karlach!

I swear, some people really do NOT know what it feels like to play a game where the devs truly and honestly are not listening to the playerbase...or where it takes literal YEARS for them to respond to even a fraction of the players' reasonable concerns & feedback.

Look, Gyro is a phenomenal character and a fandom darling and is absolutely pivotal to the story and probably one of Araki’s best written characters and everything BUT a dark and twisted part of me truly believes that Lucy and maybe even Diego should’ve been Johnny’s traveling companion/Jobro instead and, if necessary, would even cut Gyro from the story to facilitate this.

not to talk about sw in not a totally positive light (it's not even a criticism, precisely, its just something I'm contemplating), but I've been thinking about the recent string of shows (mando s3, kenobi, and ahsoka) and I am beginning to wonder if Disney/Lucasfilm vastly misunderstood the backlash to the sequel trilogy, because....they keep rehashing plot points and emotional beats from those movies.

And okay, sure you could say it's also to help build up the timeline and show how the FO rise, but it also feels a little bit like they're taking the safest route and just...copying and pasting those things into stories with characters that are (almost) universally loved (Din, Grogu, Ahsoka, Obi Wan) — and combined that with the near radio silence of anything about the sequel trilogy characters, across the smorgasbord of Star Wars content? I really think they're steering clear (aside from the Rey movie they announced) of anything to do with Rey, Finn or Poe because they think they're why the movies weren't popular. And that's... exactly the opposite of the sentiment I've seen in this fandom, but I also know exactly why they have that impression and I hate it.

I can’t believe it took me until 2022 to finally understand Andrew Garfield’s appeal... I thought he was cute like a deer, and then I was just neutral about him beyond “seems like a nice guy. Also seems like he’s very enthusiastic and he’s straddling that cute eager puppy and annoying theater kid line closely once in a while for me” in the later years. So what are your fun hair stories? :)

My first venture into hair dye was for the 100 dagen in 2010. I'd wanted red hair for ages blame emilie autumn and I'd finally bought some "red" from the kruidvat.

These are the only pics I have of that, but as you can see, quite brown mostly. Don't mind my outfit it was 100 dagen after all.

After that I'd gone to a hairdresser in Ghent (kreatos or smth like that?) and asked for red hair. Man was I disappointed. Can't find pics of it now but damn it was horrible. The ugliest shade of brown ever.

So I resorted to dying my hair myself with big success :)

Now the first time I wanted to bleach my hair I thought, hmm, maybe let a professional do this. Nope nope again!!! Hairdressers suck!! I payed €100 for badly bleached hair. In cash too!

So these are my stories about lame official means of hair dye. Just Do It Yourself.

In a special evening hosted by Omega and Academy Award-winning actress Ariana DeBose, guests were treated to a lavish celebration of the brand's iconic timepieces that have graced the red carpet throughout awards season. Upon arrival at the private Los Angeles residence where the event took place, guests were welcomed by the melodic sounds of a string quartet and an impressive display of classic Omega watches.

This Sunday, 21 April, I will be one of the Boston Comics Roundtable artists with art in Outside the Box who will be present for the "Meet the Artists" reception in the Joy Cochran Gallery. The Gallery is in the Parker Room at the Footlight Club in Jamaica Plain, MA. Outside the Box is an exhibit of kid-friendly pages in coordination with the Footlight Club's production, Tuck Everlasting, which opens this weekend. The reception is 1--2 PM this Sunday, just before that day's matinee of Tuck Everlasting. Light refreshments will be served, and you will have the opportunity not only to look at the comics art on the walls but to buy copies of the comics those pages are from! Several original pages from my Drowned Town Press all-ages mini-comic Laird MacGuffin's Treasury join the work of Dan Mazur, Anthony Lathrop, Brendan Tobin, Lindsey Leigh, Reggie Themistocle, Julie DiSalvio, Robert Christie and Deborah Lang, Crispin Wood, Calvin and Nile Hennick, Mark Borok, Jerel Dye, Jonathan Todd, and Catalina Rufín. The Footlight Club, the oldest community theatre in the USA, is at 7A Eliot Street in Jamaica Plain, MA, just off Centre Street. The closest public transportation is the MBTA #39 Bus; the Green Street and Forest Hills stops on the Orange Line are each at least 15 minutes' walk from the theatre, and there are shuttle buses replacing that branch south of Ruggles 20--21 and 27--28 April. There are several parking garages in the area, though closer to the T stations than to the theatre.
