There hadn’t been a big banquet event like this in Port Vale before with perfectly free food. With Gabi’s finances as limited as they were, any opportunity like this was important to seize. If her definition of banquet was correct, that was the point, even. She looked up from hors d'oeuvre that she had been giving her attention to notice someone nearby and facing her direction. She gave the other person an unimpressed look, took a big bite out of whatever this thing was, and said in a disinterested voice, “It’s rude to stare. Did you want something of me, or did you literally just want to eat some too?”

The best part about any good party - and Victoria could call this any fancy names, it was a party -, was the dancing. And Steph loved dancing. She drank the last of the bubbly cocktail so was slowly sipping when a good song started playing and turned towards the first person she could find. “Wanna come dance with me?”

"So, if you really think about it, the way a blue straggler just feeds off the hydrogen from nearby stars, practically draining their life force, makes it like the equivalent of a vampire sucking your blood. Pretty cool right?" With an almost finished drink in her hand, Emilia had been rambling on about one of her astronomy facts whether the person she was talking to wanted to hear it or not. The edible and the alcohol in her system seemed to really help her out in this case. If Victoria wanted them to have fun, at least she could have fun in her own way. "I think I want another drink, do you want another drink? Victoria really knows how to throw a party I'll give her that. Can't go wrong with an open bar."

The Library; Blind date event Closed for @vera-lynns
Ronan wasn’t really planning to participate in the blind dates. He signed his brothers up as a joke, deciding to also put his name there just so they wouldn’t be able to complain too much, but he never expected they’d actually go with it. And Stella – sweet Starfish – also decided to go on one of the dates out of her own volition, and now Ronan had no one to play with him.  So, he ended up going on the date set up for him by the event’s organizers. He decided to do so and arrived at the place almost an hour late, but he went there anyway. But why couldn't it have been a place more exciting than the library?
He didn’t have anything against books per say. In fact, once every couple decades, he’d have his phases of a few months in which he’d try to find in the books the excitement and the new experiences he craved in real life, but he wasn’t in one of those phases right now. He could only hope the person he was matched with would at least be fun.
Arriving at the library, he didn’t see anyone who could be waiting for their blind date – would they even still be waiting? – so he just walked aimlessly around the isles. Every so often, he’d pick up a book, just to put it back on the shelf upside down and facing backwards. When he passed by someone on their own, he’d approach them and ask: “Hey, you here for the date?”

Valentine’s Day Event
One might have thought an event like a Valentine’s Day blind date was much too cheesy and kitschy for someone like Walter, but on the contrary, these were the sort of events he put high on his priority list.  He was new in town; so new, that he hadn’t even unpacked his suitcase yet.  With how low-key this thing was supposed to be, he was hoping to meet someone to give him the lowdown on the town, and if he could catch them off-guard, maybe even answer a couple questions. If they were interesting enough. He dressed sharply and shaved his face for the night to be as professional as possible, and waited early on the steps of the Mermaid Museum for his date.  Walter wanted to be there first, so that he wouldn’t be the one looking around for them.  He turned around at the sound of steps coming up the walkway.  “Hello,” he scanned up and down at a woman with blonde hair, “Are you my date for this evening?”

Location: The Starbeach Cafe
Closed starter for @mikethompson
When Lena got the notice to meet her date at the Starbeach cafe, she felt a sense of dread come over her. Off all the locations in town she was slightly embarrassed it was where Gemma worked and also happened to be the cafe owned by Renzie - whom she was recently caught snooping around his living quarters. The siren didn’t want anyone to get any weird ideas, the last thing she wanted was for people she knew to think she was a hopeless romantic in search of the love of her life. This was a great chance to get to know more townspeople and also do a little snooping without raising any suspicion. She sat at a table in the outdoor seating, wearing a red shirt so that her date would be able to find her easily. She was slightly nervous, only because she’d never done this before and didn’t even know what kind of people would sign up for something like this. Her hands cupped the iced coffee in front of her; the weather was warm for once and the heat brought out more people than Lena was used to seeing around town. The siren wondered which of these strangers would be her mystery match. Maybe it was the wrinkled old man making his way in her direction...no, false alarm. Suddenly, she saw someone walking toward her table and she stood up to greet him. He looked familiar and it took a while for her to remember who he was. Oh no, she thought to herself. Surely Gaya didn’t send him to spy on the sirens? But the matches were random from what Lena had heard. There was no way this was a set up but the alarms in her head were ringing. “Hi I’m Lena.” She said, plastering a grin on her face and sticking her hand out. “What’s your name?” As if she didn’t already know.

BLIND-DATE SIGN-UPS
Bolstered by the success with her Secret Santa project over the winter holidays, Victoria Wolfgang has devised a new plan to bring the locals closer than ever - and she has made an announcement to the town about her new idea.
Valentine’s Day is a day for romance, and while no one has ever accused Victoria Wolfgang of being a romantic in any form, she is here to challenge their thinking. A new sign-up sheet has been posted in the Port Vale City Centre for blind date match-ups. She will provide all who signs up with a match and a date location - Ms. Wolfgang, a professional cupid.
In the past, Port Vale has never paid much attention to Valentine’s Day - but rumor has it, this is not Victoria’s only surprise kept hidden in her sleeve. A line has appeared by the sign-up sheet, with everyone whispering about what else their city counsel president might have in store...
All dates pairs will be chosen randomly, including the location of the date.
All Blind Date threads must take place in-game on February 14th; leading up to the evening event (details coming soon).
Getting matched for a date does not imply a ship must take place. You can make it a platonic connection, if preferred, or roll with whatever plot is currently going for the matched characters. Please be respectful of others and their ideas while plotting out the dynamic for your date.
Please only sign-up for a Blind Date thread to be assigned to your character if you can commit to responding to the thread in a timely manner. You are encouraged to prioritize your Blind Date thread to get as much accomplished as possible before (or around) the 14th.
Blind Date Threads may continue into the event - just please be sure to plot out a vague conclusion, so your interactions at the Valentine’s Day event (details tba) will make sense! Did the date go poorly, will they be awkward with each other, or eager to run into one another again post-date? Get creative here!
If you are interesting in signing your character up for a Blind Date match, please message the sevenseabulletin blog with the character(s) you are signing up!
All sign-ups must be sent in by February 8th, by 3pm. As soon as you receive your match & date location, feel free to beginning plotting and writing together!
Please tag all Blind Date posts/replies/content with #portvalevalentine.

Status: Closed starter for @allegra-weaving Date: February 14th Location: Wellness Center - meditation room
When Gemma had heard about the blind date signups, it didn’t take much consideration for her to decide to sign up. Sure, she was far too busy for romance and not at all interested with being randomly matched with someone in town regardless - but it was clear that a lot of people in town were signing up. Given the event’s popularity (artificially created by Victoria or not), it was prudent to take part in order to further the impression that she really was human.
When she got her assignment though, she had to admit she was a little disappointed - with a secluded location like the meditation room in the Wellness Center, it wasn’t like she was going to be seen taking part in human activities by the town at large. Oh well, she would just have to focus on doing a good job with her assigned human - if the person she got even was a human.
She made her way over to the assigned location, arriving a little early so she could survey the room. There didn’t appear to be any hidden recording devices - at least she and whoever she had been matched with would have some privacy, as long as they stayed away from the doors. Satisfied with her assessment, she turned her attention to the door. Thankfully, she wasn’t left to wonder for too long who her date might be - the door opened, and she caught sight of the person on the other side. “Allegra?” She waited until the door was closed before continuing. “I must admit, I’m surprised - I would not have expected you to be interested in a blind date.” Unless they were here for the same reasons as she was.

PORT VALE’S THIRD EVENT  THE VALENTINE’S BANQUET
Despite the town’s nature for throwing parties over the smallest of reasons to celebrate (perhaps in part to boredom, in part to the need to create something- anything to gossip about), Valentine’s Day has been, historically, one that has passed through the town with little to no fuss. This year... love is in the air. Or at least, Victoria Wolfgang has decided that it is.
Surprising the town with her announcement, Victoria has made the locals aware of a grand pink&white themed banquet held in Saint Cupid’s honor, to take place in the unused banquet hall in the Port Vale City Centre. It has gone untouched for at least five years now... who can remember the last time the whole town was invited? Surely only when the old mayor was still alive and well; Samuel Blackmore was well-liked and respected, but he did not have the same interest in community gatherings and parties quite like Victoria and Xander do.
Victoria has formally invited you on Valentine’s Day evening for a feast befitting a king, and everyone has been strongly urged to come. This is her project; and she won’t let it flop. With a guest list of names in hand, you are sure to hear about it later if you neglect making an appearance and taking a seat for dinner. Please be at the door by 5:30 sharp! Dinner begins at 6! The evening will include dancing, raffles, and dessert late into the evening with the banquet finally coming to a close at midnight.
But don’t worry! Valentine’s Day has plenty other exciting ways to celebrate romance! Port Vale’s small businesses have come together with special deals, offerings, and limited time services. Special menus at The Starbeach Cafe, a love-themed flash sheet at Anchored Hearts Tattoo, couples specials at Lobster Haven, and even couples meditaton and yogo at the Wellness Center are only a few of the immersive town activities being offered - and don’t forget, you have your Blind Date to contest of!
One thing is for certain... Port Vale has never seen a Valentine’s Day quite like this, and if you listen to the whispers of gossiping locals, the general opinion remains the same - Victoria Wolfgang is up to something, and she wants the whole town together in one place, for whatever it is she is planning. Grab a date, pucker your lips, and make your own speculations, because Valentine’s Day is fast on our heels!
THE EVENT WILL LAST FROM FEBRUARY 14TH - 20TH.
{ooc; please note that you do not have to pause non-event threads during this time, including blind date threads! you may continue event threads beyond the 20th, but for consistency sake, it’s best to tag all event threads with portvalevalentine. since the time length of this event is fairly short, we are encouraging shorter threads, but feel free to do what feels best! try to remember to answer existing starters in the tag before posting your own. thank you!}

location: the lobster haven
time: Feb 14, evening
status: closed for @lostlikejetsam
Silas didn’t really know what he was expecting when Siobhan convinced him to sign up for the town’s Blind Dating event, but he figured he didn’t really have anything to lose. He had a few contenders around town that he would have liked to go on a date with, but knowing the mechanics of the event, he knew he didn’t really have a say on the matter. He had gotten to the restaurant 30 minutes early, circling the block around for another 30 minutes prior just to release some of his nervous energy. He had changed his outfit 5 times and contemplated standing up his date, but he worried how that might make him look.  He felt as though a lot of eyes were already on him at any given moment, so he really didn’t want to make a big deal out of this.
He wasn’t even sure if they took his sexuality into account, and that helped to calm his nerves a bit. After all, he found it a lot easier to talk to the female population than any of the male humans. Male humans always just seemed to unnerve him for some reason. He checked the time on his phone for the 10th time and wondered if he should start a game of Pokemon Unite when he saw the Squirrel man enter the restaurant, looking around the room probably looking for his assigned table number. An uneasy feeling fell at the pit of his stomach, and he was praying to whatever was up there that he wouldn’t be going on a date with the man that saw him fall on his ass.
No such luck in the stars, apparently.
