Okay, so, hear me out, but after watching Absol Plays Pokémon’s recent “movie” video where he shows his first playthrough of Scarlet, I have a few big theories that just really occurred to me. This started as a slight inkling of remembering that we have actually heard the word “Paradise” used to describe some place in Pokémon BEFORE Gen 9, and that’s Alola’s Aether Paradise.
I think the as of right now unknown Pokémon causing the Terastallization phenomenon in Gen 9, and the one confirmed to cause the Dynamax/Gigantamax phenomenon in Gen 8 (which was Eternatus, if you all recall), may both be Ultra Beasts, or at the very least, RELATED TO Ultra Beasts/Ultra Space.
We fight Profs Sada & Turo’s A.I. selves canonically in Scarlet & Violet, and they both seem to be taken over by the “true” AI behind the Time Machine they supposedly built “with the help of” (as is mentioned in the books in the research stations in Area Zero) the Tera phenomenon. So the Time Machine runs as well as it does BECAUSE of its being powered by the Tera phenom, AND the Pokémon/UB that causes said phenom that we’ve yet to meet also seems to be controlling the AI Prof during the battles and when the Time Machine begins to try to sabotage their shutdown of it. Their body starts crystallizing in parts, and their speech gets more jumbled and weird. Not even more robotic, but more robotic AND jumbled.
And I think the Distortion World is also in part connected to UBs and Ultra Space, because we already have confirmation that alternate universes actually do for sure exist in Pokémon’s series. (The most notable example of this is ORAS’s Delta Episode.) So wouldn’t it make sense, then, that Ultra Space, which appears in ORAS too through Ultra Wormholes, can and does lead to “distorted” or alternate universes of the Pokémon one??? Because we see in USUM when going through some of these wormholes to find the UBS, in particular Guzzlord comes immediately to mind, these AUs where a disaster actually happens, like Guzzlord has ravaged the ecology or is ravaging one of the universe where the meteor from Delta Episode ISN’T stopped by Mega Rayquaza?
There’s got to be a connection between the ORAS Delta Episode, Giratina/Distortion World, Necrozma & Ultra Space, the Ultra Beasts, Eternatus/Dynamax/GMax, & now Terastallization.
Anyone got some extra input??? Please share!!! I would love to hear 👀

Listen, USUM has its issues (biggest one being a literal full price dlc for SM imo) but I just really love the whole Rainbow Rocket plot for several reasons:
The only way Giovanni found to make Archie and Maxie work together was to not tell them they were on the same team
They're also back to their RSE designs which means that Maxie looks like sci-fi Dracula and Archie looks like he sells sharpedo fins illegally
More or less canon confirmation that yes, Ghetsis absolutely planned on killing N after he got him to conquer Unova, and also having him threaten yet another child on screen
Red and Ethan apparently fucked primeverse Giovanni up so bad that even his alternate self felt it
Cyrus, the literal world-ending cultist who planned on harnessing the power of the gods to destroy the universe, is somehow the team's token good guy
Colress hated working for Ghetsis so much back in Unova that he showed up specifically to send him back to his universe even though he wasn't even the Ghetsis he knew personally

with sword and shield’s story feeling very lackluster to me (my own personal opinion btw its fine if you feel differently) combined with usum and the swsh dlc not exactly giving their stories a lot of care, i was really worried that tpci was doing that thing sonic team did where they were like “oh obviously the things holding our games back are the stories so we have to put that on the backburner and change absolutely nothing else about how the games play out, because rbgy didnt have a deep story and we love those!” and for me personally, i think deep or at least fun stories (especially in an rpg) make for a more enhanced experience.
so im really glad legends and scivi are out now and are pretty clearly showing that they arent doing that and still clearly not only care about the story, but are indeed willing to go kinda crazy with how they do them and not shy away from anything that could upset the player

Ever since she was young, Zahra always knew there was something odd about herself. Be it her strange ability to see in the dark, ability to glimpse into the future, or the fact she can make objects glow faintly by touching them. After doing a bit of research, she quickly found out she was an avatar of a creature known as 'the Beast Who Devours The Sun'. Unsure as to how she could unlock her full abilities, Zahra moved to Alola in hopes of finding more information on the creature. Upon Lilly and Moon playing the Sun and Moon flutes, Zahra was able to transform into Solgaleo. But before she could fully enjoy her new powers, Necrozma invaded. In an attempt to save Nebby - who had evolved into Lunala - Zahra was possessed by Necrozma, becoming Dusk Mane Necrozma, and was used to steal the light from the world.
She very much dislikes that her Avatar attire is a dress.

Suddenly a wave of shadow pours out from the cave as she wakes up. She can't make sense of the dream...but strangely enough, she doesn't get an ominous feeling from it. Is someone or something trying to talk to her? Only time will tell...

SPOILERS FOR THE RECENT GLADION & MAGEARNA EVENT !!!
some of my fav scenes from the story 👇
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
all in all i really liked this event !! i'm happy that whenever DeNA writes stories with Gladion at the forefront, they end up being more fleshed out instead of the typical "shallow friendship" stories they usually make, i suppose this says a lot about gladion's character as a whole 👏
random dump on some scenes in the event:
i love when he said get lost to colress LOL i know it's part of his character to be blunt but i didn't expect that to be his response 💀
so did lear not host a party at all and lusamine just asked to borrow his manor as part of her plan??? either way she's clearly rich enough to make such a demand 💀💀
i know a lot of us were shocked to see gladion pair up with magearna of all mons, but it honestly makes PERFECT sense 😭 it's an artificial pokemon who loves to be researched upon and gladion fears it will end up being alone because of this, THIS EXACTLY PARALLELS SILVALLY 😭😭😭 his sense of justice and moral compass is so strong like this fits his character perfectly he just doesn't want magearna to suffer a similar fate
cool to see that his "sygna suit" was really just a fancy outfit he had to wear for the event and was not modelled specifically after magearna, but i guess we can headcanon that lusamine tailored that suit for him as part of her plan lol
also i honestly loved to see that gladion is capable of being formal when he has to LOL i know a lot of people object the idea of him becoming aether president but i personally dig the idea, regardless what people think happened between him and lusamine i feel like taking a job where he gets to care for pokemon and research them ethically (in a way he thinks is right) is a perfect fit for his character
^ to add a bit to this, i also like when he can just act like a rich kid with manners when he needs to, but the second someone acts against his morals he just goes back to being stubborn and brash 😭 all this fits my headcanon that sometimes he helps out his mom with aether foundation work by travelling to different regions to care for pokemon/assist pokemon professors, etc + my headcanon of him being able to speak more "proper" when needed IS NO LONGER JUST A HEADCANON 🎉🎉🎉
i LOVE when he has nice interactions with his family, especially his mom 😭 definitely a hot take but i'm perfectly fine with lusamine repairing her bond with her kids, the SM USUM timeline stuff is a bit messy but in my opinion i prefer when after she recovers from the neurotoxins shenanigans she earnestly works to fix her relationship with her kids, because i personally believe that even in SM she was supposed to be redeemable--not because "she deserves it", but because her being redeemed could strengthen the story's message about navigating a tragic family and fall from grace, ofc this depends on your interpretation on these events in the first place but i always felt like a happier ending was better suited for the aether family (i made another post abt this a while back lol... might rewrite it again)
also gladion calls her mom while lillie is more formal and says mother right??
to sum it up i love this story because everything abt gladion is true to character + his motivations for wanting to care for magearna are perfect + i love the little things they added to his character esp for confirming my headcanon + more interactions with his family + not like DeNA's typical "friendship" stories + IT FINALLY GIVES GLADION THE SCREENTIME IT DESERVES EVEN IF THIS EVENT FEELS A BIT SHORTER THAN OTHERS 😭😭😭🎉🎉🎉💗💗💗

It's Kieran hours again. Today I wanted to ramble about him, and also Carmine being an asshole. Spoilers for Teal Mask and possible spoilers for Indigo Disk (based on leaks) below.
Tumblr media
So it's already obvious that Carmine's mistreatment of Kieran plays into his insecurity at the start of the game. The player is also at fault (hiding the truth about Ogerpon from him, spending time with only Carmine, and turning the other cheek to his mistreatment, amongst other things). Note when I refer to "the player" here, I mean the in-game avatar, not the actual human player. Others have agreed that we needed the choice to avoid hurting Kieran's feelings.
As an extension of that, we also needed the choice to confront Carmine. I know we couldn't because Teal Mask leads directly into Indigo Disk, and Pokemon games are linear by nature. But as a grown-ass adult who recognized the toxic dynamic between the siblings, I wanted to take Kieran and hide on Oni Mountain.
And it was all little things adding up to one oppressive hammer of discouragement. Constantly brushing him off, treating him as unimportant, etc. This behavior of Carmine's isn't exclusive to Kieran- the player is treated like shit until they earn her respect. But the player is from out of town. Kieran had to deal with this behavior for his entire life.
Carmine isn't evil like Lusamine (debatable due to Nihilego poison) or Ghetsis (I will get to these two in the readmore). But her behavior is still unacceptable. It's what made Kieran feel so small to begin with.
When he's finally given a chance at friendship and kindness, Carmine snatches the player, too (from his perspective). When he has a chance to catch Ogerpon, the player does instead, and he has to watch. At this point, the player is on Carmine's "side", and an extension of her lifelong psychological control over her brother.
Tumblr media
There are rumors/leaks that a Pokemon may be controlling Kieran to a degree- similar to Lusamine- as the situation worsens. But even without this behind the scenes action, Kieran's behavior is understandable. He had two chances at friendship, snatched away by the girl who thinks he amounts to nothing and the apparent lapdog at her side.
So why bother with friendship at all? Why not become stronger and stronger, and bowl down everything in your way? It worked for the people who hurt you...
Tumblr media
I want to veer off into other games with similar plot beats as a point of comparison. I put it under a readmore for people who don't care and for length. I'll probably add a reblog after Indigo Disk to conclude this ramble.
Tumblr media
While Sun/Moon did a great job at portraying abuse, it didn't do a great job at resolving it. Lillie forgives Lusamine, Gladion is left to flounder, and Lusamine is resolved of increasing amounts of blame with each adaption. USUM and the anime make this issue progressively worse, with the anime barely addressing Lusamine's true nature, save one episode where it's treated as her "caring too much". I made an entire post about Gladion because this issue pisses me off. While Lillie's forgiveness of Lusamine makes sense for her character, it shouldn't be required of Gladion, Guzma, or any of her other pawns.
Tumblr media
In Black and White, Ghetsis is not only called out on his shitty behavior, but N isn't obligated to forgive him. This remains true in all adaptations. Once Ghetsis drops the act, the game is bold enough to call it "abuse" without using the actual word. It understands that what happened to N is disgusting and horrible. In many adaptations- like Pokemon Generations- N is able to confront him- and by extension, his feelings- directly.
Tumblr media
I also feel like Kieran is Wally if Wally wasn't a pushover. The player crushes his dreams of battling in a gym at his uncle's command. While his health is a concern, there is literally no reason he can't battle the gym. He only has Ralts and will likely lose. But he's prevented from even trying- by the person he considers a friend, no less. Wally doesn't show up again until near the endgame...where the player crushes his dreams again.
Wally takes it all with a smile. Kieran doesn't.
For Kieran specifically, I feel like they'll go the Sun/Moon route over the Black/White route. Which concerns me. If Kieran apologizes to Carmine even if he did something bad in Indigo Disk- I will throw up. He doesn't have to forgive her, or even the player.

As an XY enjoyer, I was holding out hope for new Kalos games rather than Unova remakes. And Apparently I was right to do so! Now with the new game announcement, it means some things to me and I have predictions/thoughts.
(more under the cut in case.... future spoilers)
1. It seems like it's set in the modern day, potentially not long before or after the originals. So We probably get to see more Sycamore. Which. Yes please. Gimme. I would like to see my boy.
Tumblr media
2. If it's set not long after the originals, Potentially a Lysandre return. Or mention. There's no way he's DEAD dead. So they better do him justice. He got flubbed in the original games.
3. MORE KALOS LORE! FINALLY! 11/12 YEARS (when Legends ZA releases) AFTER XY PROPER!
4. The cancelled event Pokémon, AZ's Floette, might ACTUALLY be obtainable this time around! (Which also means the return of event mythicals like Volcanion, Hoopa, and Diancie)
4.5 which also means if you have Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde from either the original games or the shinies from Go, USUM Ultra Wormholes, or SWSH Dynamax Adventures, they can probably be brought over!
5. Zygarde might be the big bad you have to defeat this time around, using Xerneas and Yveltal to stop them. Probably controlled by someone like Xerosic. (think like Ultra Necrozma in USUM, or Eternatus in SW/SH)
5.5 that being said, Xerneas and Yveltal may get new powered up forms (potentially Megas) as a boost to calm the rampaging Zygarde
6. Sycamore actually participates in Story Events with the player. Because he might feel bad for asking so much of them the first time. (It's a stretch but a Sycamore lover can dream. I want to see him be a badass like in the anime. Give him his Garchomp)
7. Team Flare might still be kicking around, though subdued a bit depending on how long after the originals it's been. Maybe some new faces in there. Malva is probably the one running things with Lysandre being MIA.
8. It might be revealed that Kalos and Paldea did have beef in the past, which is where Paldea's crater came from. Bringing Paldean pokemon into Kalos may strike up new dialogue. (If paldean 'mons can be transferred over, that is. If that's the case though Terapagos, Ogerpon, and the Sandwich Dragons are going to be nerfed. HARD. Especially the small Terastal Turtle.) (i wanna see Sycamore's reaction to a Clodsire or Terapagos. He'd love the little guys.)
9. New megas, but that's kinda obvious. I'm thinking some i want to see are going to be Rapidash, Talonflame, and the original Box Art Legends.
10. It may be revealed that Sycamore and Lysandre did have a little fling, if not a full on relationship before the weapon incident. They gave us Brassius and Hassel in SV. And implied one with ORAS Maxie and Archie. You know what we want, Gamefreak.
(bonus) 11. A Paldean character might appear for a side quest.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm holding out hope. But just the fact we're getting more Kalos stuff at all is enough to make me happy. It gets glossed over far too much.
I've seen these things widely disliked in Pokemon games from SwSh onwards, and I'm hoping they'll be taken into account in the future (spoilers for SV and their DLCs):
Nobody is a fan of long intros, excessive tutorials, hand-holding throughout the intro and at other parts of the game, etc (though I haven't played SM or USUM, I've heard these games have it fairly bad too). SwSh at least allows you to skip the catching tutorial if you already have caught a Pokemon by the time Leon goes to show you, but this did not return later. Excessively long intros and tutorials can make a game hard to get into, and it's worse for returning players unless the mechanics have drastically changed. Hand-holding makes the player feel like they're playing little more than a playable cutscene.
Time travel just...isn't a good idea if it's not leading to anything. PLA didn't even resolve its time travel plotline, let alone explain how Ingo got there. SV left so many details about the time machine up in the air. And just what was the Pokemon that attacked Mabostiff? Arven would have accused Koraidon/Miraidon of doing so if the more aggressive one had done it since he doesn't know there's a second one, and you'd think he'd react to a paradox Pokemon of the same species on the way down to the Zero Lab, but he doesn't. We're just left to theorize. If a serious plot point isn't going to conclude, it's probably best not to do it at all. Being left to guess, theorize, hope for answers later, or get answers in supplementary material stops being fun fast, if it's fun at all. Time travel as a plot point just seems to cause more problems than create an interesting story.
So many people are not happy that the player was forced to lie to Kieran for the sake of the plot. You can argue that yes, Kieran's grandfather asked the player and Carmine not to tell him the truth yet, and the player, not being a member of the family, had no right to mess with what was technically not their business. However, it just doesn't sit well with so many people, especially because we're supposed to be befriending Kieran, and in the end it's something that took a lot of players out of the story. It may have been the most forced plot point of SV.
A lot of people are disappointed that at the end of the base game of SV, we weren't allowed to hug Arven, or otherwise comfort him in some way. The guy just found out that his estranged parent has been dead for years and had to meet the AI that's been impersonating his parent since then. And all this after nearly losing his Mabostiff. Instead of being able to comfort our friend in his time of need and newfound trauma, we instead decide to take a long, back road back to school like that just makes everything better. Doesn't make one feel like a good friend.
People were looking forward to Secret Bases in BDSP until they found out that instead of having a variety of decor to use as we did in DPPt, we instead got a bunch of statues. People were also hoping to decorate the dorm rooms in SV. The closest we got was changing the decor theme and music in the BB League club room, but even then the options were very limited. People enjoy being able to make a space their own, as well as being able to show it to others.
The school uniforms in SV were...not well liked. After a few games with many options for clothing, being forced into a uniform wasn't fun. The uniforms were often hard to coordinate with (particularly the Naranja Academy outfit) and even the jinbei and BB Academy uniforms often stifled creative expression. A lot of people were not happy about the complete lack of skirts and dresses in SV. Apparently this may have been due to them not wanting to upskirt people on Koraidon/Miraidon, but in SwSh all the skirts have modesty shorts built in. Not sure why, other than time constraints, this couldn't be implemented for SV.
There's probably a lot more, but this is what I've seen and heard a lot in my experience.
best pokemon used by an evil team leader? like giovanni's team/maxie's/archie's/etc
Hey!! I really like this idea.
The ultimate problem is narrowing down which Pokemon should be considered... Gonna do the work on that below the cut.
I'm thinking I'll stick with the main series, at least for recognizability... And then I'll pull leaders from this category. I've decided I'll also not include USUM Legendaries and other Pokemon not encountered in normal gameplay. I have also opted to remove N because he uses a LOT of different Pokemon that break away from the theme quite a bit.
Archie (Team Aqua)
Mightyena, Golbat/Crobat, Sharpedo, Muk
/Not including Team Star's leader for major spoilers and none of the Pokemon qualify.
Colress (Team Plasma)
Magnemite/Magneton/Magnezone, Klink/Klinklang, Elgyem/Beheeyem, Metang/Metagross, Rotom (Wash)
Cyrus (Team Galactic)
Murkrow/Honchkrow, Golbat/Crobat, Sneasel/Weavile, Gyarados, Houndoom
Ghetsis (Team Plasma)
Cofagrigus, Bouffalant, Seismitoad, Bisharp, Eelekross, Hydreigon, Kyurem, Drapion, Toxicroak
Giovanni (Team Rocket)
Onix, Rhyhorn/Rhydon, Kangaskhan, Nidorino/Nidoking, Nidoqueen, Dugtrio, Persian, Honchkrow
Guzma (Team Skull)
Golisopod, Ariados, Masquerain, Pinsir, Scizor, Vikavolt
Lysandre (Team Flare)
Mienfoo/Mienshao, Murkrow/Honchkrow, Pyroar, Gyarados
Maxie (Team Magma)
Mightyena, Zubat/Golbat/Crobat, Camerupt, Weezing
Piers (Team Yell)
Scrafty, Malamar, Skuntank, Obstagoon, Toxtricity
That leaves us with: Golbat, Muk, Magnemite, Magneton, Magnezone, Klink, Klinklang, Elgyem, Beheeyem, Metang, Metagross, Murkrow, Sneasel, Weavile, Seismitoad, Drapion, Toxicroak, Rhyhorn, Rhydon, Kangaskhan, Nidorino, Nidoking, Nidoqueen, Dugtrio, Persian, Golisopod, Masquerain, Pinsir, Scizor, Vikavolt, Mienfoo, Mienshao, Pyroar, Zubat, Camerupt, Weezing, Scrafty, Malamar, Skuntank, and Obstagoon.
It's a big number, but I think it's fine. If necessary, I'll divide it up, but I'm not entirely sure how yet.
I'm never one to do anything by halves.
Back in 2017 I decided to play Every Pokemon Game Within A Year, before USUM came out. And I did! (Spoiler alert: do not do it this way. You will end up resenting the speed at which you have to do it, burn out and miss any other games you want to play.)
In 2018, I decided to try my hand at Every Digimon Game, also within a time limit for Reasons. This time, I recorded what I did, and it turned into this blog, so at least I got something fun out of it. I still have about five games on that list that I didn't finish, though, and that's not including games that have come out since then. Someday.
I'm doing it again, though! Don't worry, I will never be off my bullshit.
In 2021 I started playing Every Dragon Quest Game. And fuuuuck it's slow going! Mostly because I haven't given myself a deadline this time (I learn my lessons sometimes), but also because I wander away from it and play whatever I want occasionally. It's much better to not have the pressure to play a game you only kinda want to play, especially if there's something else you want to do instead.
It's an interesting experience! Since it was such an early game, it's fun to see just how fun the mechanics have come, and where certain conventions started. Having only played DQ9 in the past, it's super neat to go back and see what neat things I missed about the game because I wasn't familiar with the series in general.
(Also did you know that the original NES version of Dragon Quest 2 was released without having been playtested all the way through? And that it was made in six months? And that games back then were incredibly frustrating because that's what the gameplay was? And that, not only do a lot of monsters have Instant Kill Your Entire Party To Death spells, but the final boss has a full heal spell?
But yeah, I'm having fun.)
Anyway, I like how different the experience has been. Since I'm playing the series for the first time, I don't have the same sense of anticipation that I did while playing the other series. When I was getting to the end of Platinum, I'd be more excited about starting Black soon than anything, and so on. But since these are all new games to me, I'm not thinking ahead for any of them. I'm excited to start the next one, of course, but there's not that same element of "I need to start the new one Today or I will Perish". (ADHD is really fun and everyone should try it, by the way.)
I also have a few spoilers about some of the characters, through games like Dragon Quest of the Stars (rip) and Tact (in about ten days, rip), but they all kinda merge together and I don't remember which game they're from, so it'll be fun to see them show up. So far I like Alena, Carver and Yangus, and I'm excited to see them in the real games!
I'm not really sure why I'm posting this whole diatribe, by the way. Just rambles and thoughts. That's where I am right now. In the Cave to Rendarak, trying desperately to find a hat.
pokemon violet thoughts (there may be spoilers)
i enjoyed it a lot! more than i liked swsh, not as much as sm or usum
as much as i would've liked a quadrupedal final evo for sprigatito, meowscarada is still cute and also op with its flower trick move
i cannot stand quaquaval though. the way it moves is Bad
a lot of the evolutions did feel kinda... phoned in? kinda copy and paste?
like i've seen hundreds of super cool dunsparce evos and what they went for was... dunsparce with segments? i guess that works with the tsuchinoko inspiration but like... really?
i appreciate what they were trying to do with wiglett and toedscool but i do not think they stuck the landing. toedscool in particular seems pretty forced, they would've done better with like a krabby rip off bc crabs are everywhere
a specific gameplay thing that's bothering me is that at the end you get ur miraidon or koraidon as a battling pokemon but! if you want to ride them! they are removed from your battle party!!! infuriating!!! i know there is a 2nd one but listen, i have formed a bond of love with my riding miraidon and THAT is the one i want to battle with
the final chapter was great though, big fan of that final trip with the gang
lemme just say that the real turo was lucky he was already dead bc if he wasn't, i s2g, i would make him regret his life and choices
ai turo you were the real dad arven deserved in the end
ok circling back to the pokemon
why can't the paradox pokemon just also be considered alternate versions. why do they get separate pokedex entries.
why is it that arven calls them 'weird machines' when it's like, literally just a weird looking delibird
like obvs all the future ones are glossy and metal but uh. magnemite??
how is it that a galarian meowth is recognisable as a meowth but you can't see that a metallic delibird is still a fuckin delibird
also: how come the past pokemon get cool names like slither wing and roaring moon, while the future ones are like iron hands and iron moth. why do all future paradox 'mon have 'iron' as their prefix when only ONE of them is steel type
another baffling thing: pkmn scarlet is grabbing pokemon from the past, so why can't we have wyrdeer, basculegion etc
HI THERE!!!!! It's so nice to see you back after so long 😭😭😭😭😭
Seeing your Pokemon posts reminds me how we missed out on the rest of your Alola liveblog. And I guess you've played the other Pokemon games that came out since? What teams did you end up going with?
Also how was Ultra Necrozma back in USUM? 😈
Aww, how sweet! Thank you for the welcome back! And yeah it really is a shame I never got to complete the Pokemon Moon liveblog but it is what it is. I also have to continue my Tales of the Abyss liveblog one day! Yeah I've had ample time to play it myself and finish it but even though I really wanted to play Abyss it didn't feel right to do so without the liveblog, especially since so many kind people were giving me advice throughout the experience or telling me how excited they were! So I've stayed strong and not played it and also did my best to avoid spoilers (still got a couple because that's my luck 😔) so that one day I can complete that playthrough!
But anyways my dear anon, you asked about my Pokemon teams and I'll gladly tell you. Heck, we'll go in order and I'll tell about all my babies!
Fire Red: Rave the Charizard, Thunder the Raichu, Bella the Butterfree, Arrele the Vaporeon, Draco the Dragonite, and Kori the Articuno. First game to also start one of my traditions of having an Eeveelution on my final team. First and only time I ever had a legendary on my final team and that was mainly because this was my first time playing Pokemon and I sucked bad...Mostly it was because I was having shit luck with Lance, you guys should've seen how hilariously shit I was when I played this game! And yeah as you can tell I wasn't the most creative nicknamer at this point.
Soul Silver: Stuey the Feraligatr, Lindbergh the Fearow, Zappy the Ampharos, Rocky the Onix, Vula the Ninetales, and Kaede the Espeon. My mixed Kanto/Johto team! Started my tradition of the Flying type named after a famous aviator, which is supposed to be the regional bird but I grew too attached to my Fearow Lindbergh to replace him. Also yes Rocky is indeed the same Rocky you get in an in-game trade...I loved him too much to let him go too. He and Vula, who was only a Vulpix when I faced the Elite Four because I couldn't get a fucking Fire Stone, did really well despite not being evolved!
Alpha Sapphire: Sascha the Sceptile, Twizzler the Linoone, Auriol the Swellow, Lyn the Manectric, Odense the Glaceon, and Capricia the Armaldo. This was the game I really got into my other tradition of having an Electric type with a name based on light/thunder/lighting/electricity/etc. Twizzler was another one of those "not supposed to be on the final squad but grew way too attached" Pokemon. This was also one of the few generations I loved the Grass starter most.
Platinum: Tarrle the Infernape, Sparks the Luxray, Earhart the Staraptor, Burgess the Roserade, Bemo the Floatzel, and Juby the Umbreon. Juby my baby boy was my MVP against Giratina he stalled so well while I tried to catch my shadow dragon baby. Gosh, just looking at these guys brings me flashbacks of our Cynthia attempts. This was also the first Pokemon game I played where I experienced a glitch! It was right before I caught Burgess, I was trying to catch a Budew and the game just randomly froze up on me.
Black: Ashby the Samurott, Richthofen the Unfezant, Lochrin the Krookodile, Fulgur the Galvantula, Bia the Beartic, and Drachen the Hydreigon. Drachen was still only a Zweilous when we completed the main story because I have a strict "no being a higher level than the Gym Leader/Champion/Final Boss ace" rule. And I'm no cheater like stupid old Ghetsis!!!! I love the Joltik/Galvantula line so much like way to make the cutest spider ever, so I was so excited when I got Fulgur!
White: Mariele the Serperior, Brinny the Stoutland, Ame the Simipour, Bolt the Zebstrika, Yeager the Archeops, and Dexio the Druddigon. Originally only stuck with Simipour because I needed a Surf user and we all remember Unova was really lacking in the Water type department. But he honestly grew on me more than I thought he would that I was like "no he's my child don't say anything about him >:(" to anyone who hated the elemental monkeys. Also, just like with Black, no Eeveelution on my team this time around.
Black 2: Telavive the Emboar, Milan the Leavanny, Lelouch the Lucario, Piorun the Jolteon, Cassie the Sigilyph, and Arach the Haxorus. I'm listing my teams in order the Pokemon games came out but Telavive was my first female starter, not Mariele. I don't even like Code Geass but for some reason when I caught my Riolu the name Lelouch just clicked with me. Cassie here was the real oddball of them team because I always considered Sigilyph so offputting and never considered having one on my squad. And yet she really ended up growing on me as I battled with her.
Y: Ketchum the Greninja, Andrieux the Talonflame, Kaname the Sylveon, Éclair the Heliolisk, Amarin the Aurorus, and Lulu the Goodra. Can't believe it took me until Gen 6 to name one of my babies after my precious gem Ash. This game was the reason I bought the 3DS in the first place and I had thought I wouldn't do well with it but that system introduced me to so much stuff. Also as I mentioned a long time ago, my Y game was stupidly lucky!!! There were so many good Pokemon in this gen.
Moon: Oliver the Decidueye, Anoli the Flareon, Torden the Vikavolt, Coleman the Toucannon, Vitenka the Mimikyu, and Yurinova the Drampa. For anyone who asks I named my Decidueye Oliver because I liked the name not because of a comic book character, that's just a really incredible coincidence! You guys may recall from my liveblog that Torden was just there and I had no intention of him staying but then like 24 hours later he was my grub son. I had so much fun playing this game and yes, of course, I named the legendary Nebby!
Ultra Moon: Marseine the Incineroar, Orage the Alolan Raichu, Avonaia the Dusk Form Lycanroc, Ulrich the Leafeon, Falomi the Ribombee, and Quimby the Noivern. The last game I played with an Eeeveelution on my team because with Ulrich I had one of each and there haven't been any more forms released yet. Orage, Avonaia, and Quimby were all Pokemon I wanted back in Moon but Alola had so many good picks they had to make the cut. So I was glad to have them on a final team at last!
Sword: Einwald the Cinderace, Crossfield the Corviknight, Elodie the Alcremie, Mirum the Flapple, Salama the Toxtricity, and Philomena the Frosmoth. Elodie is specifically a Mint Cream Berry Sweet version because I adore blue so much! Almost didn't get Berry Sweet because it was taking me FOREVER to get the berry decoration but on my last attempt I finally got one. I never was closer to the end of my rope than when I was desperately trying to level up Mirum while waiting to get his evolutionary item. I know people have grievances with gen 8 but I sincerely had a great time playing and loved the cast and there were great Pokemon to be found in this gen!
Legends Arceus: Takamasa the Hisuian Typhlosion, Shigure the Wyrdeer, Megumi the Kleavor, Yoshie the Hisuian Lilligant, Shinobu the Hisuian Zoroark, and Konoe the Sneasler. The first time I ever broke both my Electric AND my flying tradition. It was because by the time I got attached to my squad there weren't any other Hisui only Pokemon left that I really clicked with but then again how fitting for a Pokemon game so out of the norm that none of my personal Pokemon traditions made a showing. And as you can see in keeping with the setting I stuck with Japanese names for my babies. I had so much fun with this game and would love to see more Legends-like Pokemon games in the future!
WOW that got pretty long huh? Sorry anon, I'm sure you didn't ask for the essay but I got excited to talk about my Poke babies~! I'm also casually playing some Nuzlockes/Wedlockes on other versions but those are very much a work in progress in terms of what my squads will look like there so it'll be a LONG time before I update you on those teams.
I'm currently going through Violet and while my final team isn't set yet I have Carmine the Sprigatito who's gonna become Meowscarada and Trueno the Pawmi who will become Pawmot. My plan as of now is to have Tinkaton, Dachsbun, and Ceruledge on my final squad but anything can happen between now and me getting them. My one big question is I can't decide on who my Flying type should be because I saw several options and I'm torn between them. Will update once I have a final squad for Paldea! Oh, and even though he's not technically a battling member, Karui the Miraidon is OF COURSE a part of my final squad by default!!!
And to close this out, how was Ultra Necrozma you ask? Well I had heard about its level and how obscenely hard a fight it is but I also heard the following Kahuna battle was at a lower level. So, in keeping with my strict rule mentioned in the Black section, I went into this fight really underlevelled and scared as fuck.....Only for Marseine to hold on with one HP because he loved me after getting smacked by Power Gem and then proceed to OHKO Ultra Necrozma with a critical hit Malicious Moonsault.
So yeah lol 😂😂😂
