“My shorts and cardigan are from @opcbuyselltrade in Bushwick, cami is thrifted, boots are Ariat, sunglasses are Crap Eyewear, earrings are my mom’s. Getting dressed is one of my primary creative outlets. I love balancing color, texture, shape, and fit to craft each outfit. I look for inspiration everywhere, but my style is heavily shaped by all the well-dressed women in my life.”

Lane Bryant was founded in New York in 1904 as a shop for standard-sized women. When a pregnant customer asked the proprietor, Lena Bryant (the bank officer who opened her account had misspelled her name), to make a "presentable but comfortable" dress for her, it was the first commercially available maternity dress.
When measuring her customers, Bryant realized the need for clothing for those who needed larger sizes than those usually available. So she began to stock them, and the first "plus size" clothing was available. Business boomed. It became a chain, which now has 448 stores in 46 states.
The ad on the left appeared in the NY Times in 1923 and the one on the right in 1925. I like the line, "If you are not slender." Better than "stout" or "plus sized."

I read @all-this-panic-still-no-disco 's post yesterday about plus size feminine styles, and while I'm not entirely sure what styles she meant I decided to take some pictures of plus size clothes I like to wear that I think fit the feminine aesthetic.
These pictures are all taken through the mirror because I always look bad in pictures other people take off me and I also don't have another person to take pictures
For reference, I am a EU size 46-48, UK 18-20 and US 14-16 (I think, I never wear clothes that are US sized).
The purple dress is one I got from Boohoo. I'm honestly not sure if it's a shop I'd recommend, it's fast fashion and not great quality, but I do like this dress. It's really a manner of getting lucky with how something turns out and I don't think I'm going to order there again. The dress is a little long which makes it difficult to wear outside as it'd get dirty, but I'm also a little on the short side (for a Dutch person), but I do like how it looks.
The second outfit is a corset from corset story and a skirt from KDK London, I'm not super familiar with the brand but it's a vintage inspired brand. I ordered it through a Dutch webshop that carries a lot of different vintage brands. It's a little small on me since I gained weight since buying it (about 2 years ago) but the corset takes in my waist just enough that it fits well.
Contrary to popular belief, these corsets are kind of comfortable to wear. Maybe it's because I'm autistic and pressure sensitive, but I actually like how it feels it I lace it tightly since the pressure is very evenly divided. It's also good for your posture. However, there are some issues with wearing these regularly. You are limited in positions, so I wouldn't wear these when you're staying at home. Another issue I had is that they're not great in warmer weather because of sweat issues, especially under my breasts because they're pressed down rather than lifted up by a bra, so I'm not sure I would recommend them if you have large breasts. However, the store also sells underbust corsets which you can wear with a bra instead, and they'll still create the shape here.
If anyone's interested I can make posts like this more often with clothes I wear because I like talking about clothes and I wear a lot of vintage style clothing.
Tagging some people, sorry in advance if this doesn't interest you at all:
