It was a single-engined turboprop short-haul utility Cessna with a handsome gold stripe down the starboard fuselage which lay in a mangled, smoking slag just inside the boundary of his bleary eyeline. Beyond it, the black spruce burned. The shimmer going up against the bloodless sheet of sky. Gravel grated in his mouth and he knew he should spit it out but he could not seem to remember how his tongue worked. Why were the wheels still spinning? Fixed tricycle landing gear meant more drag and more weight but also a craft less vulnerable to tailwinds. Final approach at seventy knots and a three-degree flare and—
It had not been him at the instruments.
Blood in his mouth.
Fuel in a glistening rill down the ruined engine cowl.
Sprays of sparks and cinders candling up into the sky.
Get up…

removing the username bc I think they might just be a kid, but it's kind of funny that this person points out a very common phrase used in media that deals with trauma and then goes "how have I never seen this outside of minecraft youtubers" Like, bestie, I think it's because you only consume minecraft youtuber videos.

i've cracked adult shauna's vibe and it's that she's the concept of gayle waters-waters played straight. this suburban housewife is so deeply unsatisfied with every aspect of her life that by this point she's 95% pent-up cravings for violence. she will seize any opportunity to unleash this. married out of performativity while lusting after Just Some Guy because he's the easiest thing to project her lifelong repressed love for her girlbestfriend onto. taking out all this shit she has not unpacked at all on her daughter for literally just existing as a normal teenager. if gayle had a bit where she murdered and dismembered someone with an electric kitchen knife and a cheese grater i would not bat an eye. in gayle this ends in a high school play getting hijacked by a fake icelandic indie pop band and in yellowjackets this ends in multiple people getting unnecessarily killed.

🗝️🏷️ RAMCOA, emphasis on the RA. Mild descriptions of torture.
I hate when the others put the body to bed smelling like smoke. Woodsmoke is a trigger for not a small number of us, and it lingers until we wash the bedding.
I also hate it when one of us tries to chop wood with an axe (hatchet?) and skins our hands. It is common knowledge in the system that some of us have flaying trauma. But even if they didn’t know — why? Why would you do that? These hands are for all of us, try to comprehend the basic safety of not cutting our fingers off. Damn.
I love my system, including the dumbass members. I know it’s not their fault they were taught the opposite of sense, even if I’m vexed by it.

In September of 1986, a plane transporting several inmates from Hawkins Penitentiary crashes into the west Canadian Wilderness.
It only lets one of them go.

WIP Wednesday
What writers dream about. My current fic involves a plane crash in a wilderness area. When I first thought up the story, it was going to be somewhere in British Colombia, but I decided to stay closer to home. I figured this area was a great place to get lost in. I want to go now!

Summary:
Merlin is the lead guitarist of the successful band Dragonfly. When the lead singer dies of an overdose, the band breaks up, leaving Merlin adrift. He decides to travel to Alaska to find his birth father, against his mother’s wishes. Three months later, he and his father are still at odds, and after a particularly bad fight, he is desperate to get away. With no available charter flights out of Alaska, he is stuck. That is until Arthur Pendragon offers him a seat on his plane which is preparing to depart for Seattle. Merlin accepts, despite the fact that their fathers had a significant falling out years ago, and hate each other. The two strike up an immediate friendship which is put to the test when the plane drops out of the sky in a very remote area of the Alaskan Wilderness. The sole survivors of the crash, Arthur and Merlin must rely on each other for survival and their bond grows into something neither of them expected.
