It was a few years ago that a Greek-American archaeological team made a startling discovery – they found the oldest indications of seafaring and navigation in the world, in an area called Plakia on Crete Island in Greece.  It is an incredibly important discovery that is given little attention, despite the fact that it reached the top ten discoveries of 2010. Their research is forcing scholars to rethink the maritime capabilities of early human and pre-human cultures. - See more at: http://www.ancient-origins.net/ancient-technology/ancient-navigation-130000-years-ago-00963#!bywGL1

Sappho 44
Cyprus... The herald came... Idaeus....the swift messenger "... the rest of Asia...eternal glory Hector and his companions are leading from holy Thebes and ever-flowing Plakia bright-eyed, pretty Andromache in their ships on the salty sea, with many golden bracelets and purple clothes, which are fragrant, and ornate trinkets and countless silver cups and ivory." Thus he spoke and the dear father quickly lept up, and news came to his friends across the wide city. At once the Trojans led the mules to well-wheeled chariots, and the whole crowd climbed aboard, both women and maidens... The daughter of Priam...separately... and the men yoked the horses to the chariots... unmarried... greatly... ... charioteers... .... [gap of several verses] ... like gods ...holy... altogether... they set out... to Troy. The sweet-sounding aulos and... were mingled and the sound of castanets...and the maidens sent up a sweet song, and a marvellous echo reached heaven... and everwhere in the [streets].... kraters and cups... myrrh and cassia and frankincense were mixed together. All the older women cried out and all the men cried out a lovely high-pitched song, calling on Paean, the farshooter who is skilled at the lyre, and they sang about godlike Hector and Andromache

When you get this respond with five things that make you happy!!! Then send to the last ten people you got notifications from (anon) :)
1. - 5. Dogs 😤
Okay but actually
Dogs. So spending time with dogs. The bigger and more boisterous and rambunctious the better. Untrained reactive bastard of an animal? I love it. I will fight it. Roll around in the grass with it. A not insignificant number of people have told me I must be part dog.
Swimming in forest- or bog-lakes, ideally in the sun. There are loads in Estonia and I'm sure other places with similar landscapes, like parts of Finland, have them too.
My best friends. Specially yelling about ridiculous things and losing it over drama and memes. All said things, drama, and memes are regularly football related.
Travelling. I like Seeing The World TM. Places surrounding the Mediterranean will always be my favourite I think, with Plakias in Crete, Lucca in Tuscany (or just anywhere it Tuscany to be honest, I love it there), and Palermo in Sicily being some my favourites that I've been to so far. Iceland is also a long time favourite of mine actually, sick as fuck. And can't forget my utterly insane trip to Nepal.
I don't really know anymore. Lots of things. The sun on its own. My stupid sports teams winning at their stupid competitions. Seeing people I care about happy, especially if I've caused that happiness. Not being utterly burnt out and swamped in university work would be nice. World peace. But also then random little shit like when bugs crawl off flowers onto my finger, or when the crocuses start blooming in spring, or those colourful bead necklaces all the travelling salesmen sell on beaches.
feat. My inability to keep any answers short and simple. Always gotta ramble and get feelings involved. 🫡

Ummm maybe
The leaders and protagonist where suppose to go to sinnoh as well but the unova dragons smelled the lost twin on them (twin are very important to uvona. alright.) and asked Plakia(or spacial/teleporting pokemon) if they could send those people over so they could talk to them.
Blue was standing close to red girl whoops
ooooooooooh wait i LOVE THIS. anon you're a mind reader bc i actually have been thinking a LOT abt the absolute story potential of the twins being blessed/chosen/etc by reshiram and zekrom.
unova legends have been having an Extended Argument with the creation trio over returning custody of their Guy (can't help, sorry, that's past us's problem, modern creation trio says, shrugging at them) and then another one of those stupid spacetime holes opens and THE WRONG PEOPLE come out of it. whatever. fine. their vibes feel sort of like their lost twin's? maybe there's something special about the leaders and the way their souls get linked with wardens that makes adaman and irida feel Uniquely Like Ingo in a way the other wardens don't. and then they also grab the hypothetical galaxy team whoever bc... idk. maybe the protagonist also has the correct Vibes. maybe it was bad aim. maybe resh/zek are just being petty at the creation trio like fine you take our special guy? well this one has arceus vibes so we're taking THEM. hows it feel. fuck you.
(actually maybe the hypothetical galaxy team person IS zisu and she just like. gets got by way of having been standing next to ingo in the training grounds for a while. idk. still havent decided)
adaman and irida are well on their way to reuniting with their wardens and then two GODS WHO AREN'T EVEN THEIRS show up? this is a delay fuckfuckfuck
(does emmet even actually KNOW he and ingo are like. chosen by them?? is he equipped to be translator/mediator here? or is he just as surprised as they are. i love both options)

ALRIGHT
So about that remaint. It more of a what if? You know, to lay down the consequences. Has anyone asked "what would happen if no one founded out. what if classic reunion took place before they noticed?"
What if Araki just asked to send her and ingo back form where they came and just thought he would get his memories back that way.
diagia and plakia would have no idea and just do what was ask of them, THEY WOULD have NO IDEA. IF they can see aura and Ingo's aura be looking weird, they might just jot it up as a effect of the portal (I not even sure if giratina would know.)
(If I remember correctly the literal pokemon of knowledge did not notice, they just saw that the problem was too big for them)
WHAT Would MG EMMET DO, Trains would start, giving the remaint more room and it gains more. (The conductor did not have his talk in this timeline) would he just keep shutting it down? Would he at one point, just trash them? does he have the power to do so?
And if they meet up with Emmet?
would ingo get reminded of things in his past and then immediately forgets. And it just keeps repeating and repeating untill he can't recall anything anymore and he becomes less and less Ingo.
Until one day, like a flip, the remaint takes over and tries to convince everyone they are Ingo and they are sorry they freaked everyone out.
What would total take over be like? what would happen when the parasite eats the host completely?
((Dont get me started on idea of What if EMMET came to hisui and keep trying to make Ingo remember. (Ingo would want him to keep trying, yes))
(everytime I read a reunion fic, there is this thought that of, "what if that is what they tried in this au?" Everytime I would think "that would not work" and surprise, the people who are trying to help are actually unwittingly dooming Ingo)
Thank you for sending this Anon!! I love your thoughts on the Remnant!
TL:DR I talk about the Remnant, what it is and what it wants, what happens if it takes over Ingo, and how helping Ingo remember things is actually dangerous
I have thoughts on the Remnant I haven’t discussed a lot, because I haven’t gotten a lot of asks like this. So perhaps I can discuss them now.
For anyone who doesn’t know, in the Train of Thought AU, the Remnant is a parasite, a fragment of Giratina that has latched onto Ingo’s mind when he was transported into Hisui (in this AU, through one of Giratina’s rips in space-time). The havoc it was wreaking caused MG Emmet to disconnect all of Ingo’s memories and trap Remnant, effectively giving Ingo amnesia in the process.
It was the lesser of two evils.
Remnant wants to get out. It wants to reach Ingo’s Id (still iffy on this) and take control, but MG Emmet is restraining it, and everything is at a standstill with both sides struggling. All of this is unknown to Ingo, who simply is effected by it through experiencing amnesia. Arceus has extended an offer to Akari to go home, and in turn she wants to take Ingo with her. Arceus detects presence of the parasite and states that Ingo must be free of it, whole to go through. He cannot bring what has been latched onto him for his stay in Hisui.
MG Emmet is entirely aware of the trespassing passenger!
As for your questions. MG Emmet can shut down parts of Ingo’s memory. It’s what he’s been doing to protect what’s left from Remnant, by disconnecting traincars. But to trash cars completely? If MG Emmet had the ability to do that, I don’t think he would. That’s a lot of power!
He disconnects memories and tucks them away, but if he needs them they are always there to retrieve.
And if the Remnant did win, and took over?
Hmm, I admit I haven’t thought about this at all so I’m completely unprepared haha. But I would think that it would METAPHORICALLY be like that chestburster scene from Alien (not physically!!) Remnant bursts through Ingo’s psyche into the physical world, having torn through the barriers of his mind. The mind station is wrecked in its wake of destruction to escape, meaning Remnant is gone, but it left Ingo with irreparable damage to his mind. He will never get his memories back.
And now, there is a half-Pokémon, half-eldritch monster terrorizing the physical plane (much like false Groudon from the movie Jirachi:Wishmaker)
You bringing up the concept of Emmet trying to get Ingo to remember, and how people trying to help him remember is actually unwittingly dooming him, makes me think though.
When people bring up a memory that MG Emmet has disconnected, does the mind station automatically activate the disconnected car and try to reconnect it so he can remember? Does MG Emmet have to actively stop this action and send the car back? Because all this is doing is creating a path for Remnant to get closer to breaking out?
Akari has managed to get Ingo to remember a few things he has forgotten. Did Akari activate the system so much, that some cars did end up getting connected despite MG Emmet’s best efforts not to let that happen?
Haha does MG Emmet hold a slight initial grudge against this? (“You we’re making things worse by making him remember!”)
Such interesting thoughts Anon, thank you!!

Preveli beach on Crete
Tumblr media
Preveli Beach is located on the south coast of Crete Island, a little over 100 km from the capital of Heraklion and the main airport of the island. It is closer to the city of Chania and its airport, yet still one hour away by car. The distance to the town of Plakias is 10 km, while the city of Rethymnon is 43 km away. Preveli Beach is on the south side of Crete. It is 10 km away from the famous beach Plakias. Access to Preveli Beah is not possible, as there is no parking area.
Preveli is a famous beach on the south side of Crete Island. Crete is the biggest island in Greece, and it attracts visitors because it is a place where you can find everything, from modern cities and exotic beaches to gorges and big mountains.

Satisfying Youth Dreams in Crete
At the point when I was more luxury villas mykonos youthful, I needed to be a paleontologist. I was into Indiana Jones, the old world, and that large number of fantasies and legends probably founded on "history." My grandma cherished that stuff, and she ingrained in me an affection for it as well. Might Lord Arthur at some point be genuine? Did Jesus have a little girl? Have outsiders visited Earth? Was Atlantis genuine? Who knew?!
However, to my exhausted early-youngster, rural self, that's what I fantasized, perhaps as a genuine Indiana Jones, I'd figure it out.
I was particularly captivated by the Minoans, a civilization that prospered from 3000 to 1100 BC on the island of Crete, cresting from 1600 to1400 BC. They were a strong society, with running water and latrines and reservoir conduits some time before the Romans. The legends of Minos, the Minotaur, and Daedalus? That is all from the Minoans. They are additionally frequently remembered to be one of the potential starting points of the Atlantis fantasy.
Past the Minoans, I knew little of Crete past what I had gathered from articles and general common sense. I realized it made its own style of wine, a great deal of olive oil, was well known for its sea shores and, obviously, every one of the memorable vestiges. In any case, I couldn't actually let you know considerably more than that and, even those things I just knew in the vaguest terms.
In any case, fourteen days prior, I did right by my 14-year-old self and ventured foot onto Crete.
Crete is gigantic, estimating 3,219 square miles, and is the biggest island in Greece. With around a hundred sea shores, many authority climbs, about six significant urban communities, and lots of remnants, it calls for critical investment to appropriately investigate.
Tragically, I just had nine days. In such a major spot and with so brief period, I was simply ready to scratch the surfiest of surfaces.
In any case, that is travel and some time is superior to none.
This excursion, I burned through two days in Heraklion, one in Ierapetra, two in Plakias, one in Rethymno, and three in Chania. It was a "features visit" of the island.
Indeed, even with so brief period, Crete satisfied the picture I had developed to me such a long time. It's downright mind boggling.
To start with, it's is huge to such an extent that getting away from the crowds is simple. Outside a couple of well known sea shores and sanctuaries, there are places one can feel like you're the main traveler on the island.
Second, the sea shores are stupendous. Furthermore, they are shockingly shifted for a spot with a solitary environment. They were a reach: from white to yellow to pink sand, from rough to smooth, and in the middle between. One even has palm trees (which is phenomenal here). Anything ocean side you can summon to you, it's on Crete. What's more, with near 100 of them, you are never distant from one by the same token.
As somebody who loves absorbing the sun, a large portion of my time was spent on these sea shores, away from the groups, paying attention to the waves gradually lap the shore. The water was a reasonable, purplish blue that seemed to be the jungles than the Mediterranean, and a profound child blue farther. I hit six sea shores, with Elafonessi, Chrissi, and Balos being my top picks. I never realized Crete was a particularly extraordinary spot for an ocean side occasion!
Third, the scene rises and falls continually: mountains and slopes specked with olive trees then dive into gorges containing a portion of the island's renowned climbing trails. It's a dry environment as well, particularly in the east. Desolate in the late spring, it feels dry, similar to the land hurts for a drop of water. However at that point you travel west and inland a little, and you track down green slopes, ranches, and olive plantations and wonder about how rapidly the scene changes.
Crete's urban areas, going back millennia, diversion as you'd expect of puts based on remnants of before adaptations of themselves. I adored going through hours investigating every one of the little hiding spots of every city, attempting to sort out which rear entryway associated with which. You'd think you were going one way, just to wind up on a road that turned the other way erroneously. I tracked down Rethymno and Chania particularly amusing to become mixed up in.
What's more, the food? We should discuss Cretan food. On this huge and rich island, the hundreds of years have permitted occupants to develop a novel food and their own style of cheeses and wines. It's an exceptionally occasional eating regimen, comprising of greens, organic products, fish, a little protein, vegetables, grain rusks, and a lot of olive oil. You'll feast on a ton of fish, sheep, pork, and, surprisingly, a neighborhood escargot cooked in oil and thyme.
Presumably one of the most popular dishes is dakos, a dry entire grain bread you'll find all over, similar to a bruschetta. It's frequently served without help from anyone else, yet when requested as a starter, generally it's finished off with a tomato puree and cheddar (either feta or mizithra, which is whey cheddar).
Assuming that you're like me, the fastest way to your heart is through your stomach. The crunchy dakos, the pleasantness of neighborhood cheddar, the kind of the barbecued fish, and the variety of the wine — Crete had probably the best food I had my whole time in Greece.
However, the set of experiences made it wake up for me. I went through hours investigating each gallery I could find. The Archeological Gallery in Heraklion is home to an enormous assortment of Minoan curios (generally from Knossos). I became mixed up in their analyzing old coins, ancient rarities, frescoes, and sculptures. (Fun truth: The principal composed language of the Minoans, Direct A, still hasn't been interpreted. Their second, Straight B, is the principal composed variant of Greek!)
Also, there was the old castle of Knossos. I didn't track down the Minotaur. In any case, I tracked down a manual for show me around and I endured two hours investigating each region that was available to people in general. (Unfortunately, many rooms and regions are shut due to Coronavirus). Despite the fact that a large part of the royal residence is reproduced (and maybe incorrectly as well), it was cool and as similarly stunning to be there in fact. You realize that feeling you get when you've longed for a spot for such a long time and afterward you're at last there? That feeling of rapture and unadulterated satisfaction was the manner by which I felt as well.
All spots have a one of a kind energy. Its kin, history, climate, food, speed of life — every last bit of it meets up like instruments in an ensemble to make an objective's own novel orchestra. At times you vibe with that music, now and again you don't.
The energy of Crete was something I certainly flowed with. What's more, I'm appreciative that, whether I get back there, in the wake of developing it in my brain for north of 25 years, it satisfied every one of those youth dreams.
