But it all started with my artist book, “Nixie and the Blue Eggs” (available on my Etsy, link on linktree) During my final semester in college, I had an idea for a character - Nixie - and knew I needed to make her more “artsie” if I wanted to draw her for my art class. So, when I stumbled across a photo of robin’s eggs, I painted Nixie holding them. My professor loved it, so I continued to create paintings of Nixie and the blue eggs. Happy Mother’s day to my mamma, and my grandma and to all my grandmas that have passed from this life. Hours later, I pulled myself together and proceeded to run planned Christmas errands for clients. I spent the morning in a foul mood and really wanted to throw a three-year-old’s temper tantrum rather than put on smiles and hold casual conversations. Having a planning meeting creates the stories and gives us the structure necessary to be ready for anything. ⁣ What happens in a planning meeeting?⁣ 1. We review your discovery questionnaire to help better understand your brand. ⁣ 2. We talk about your business and why you are passionate about what you do. ⁣ 3. We talk about you. Your family, hobbies, interests and uncommon commonalities.⁣ 4. From all this we decide what stories you want to tell your clients.⁣ 5. Then come all the details. Where will se shoot? When? Do we need to rent space or make any arrangements for the spaces we need to use? What to wear? Who else will be in photos? ⁣ 6. I make notes of everything as we go. We plan out the entire day, including breaks, where we are going for lunch wardrobe changes, ect. ⁣ ❤⁣ I love it when a plan comes together. One morning, 3:30 AM, I awoke with a stabbing headache. I stumbled downstairs to take my meds and put on the coffee pot. I flopped down at my desk, flipped open my laptop and as soon as my fingers touched the keyboard, my pain melted away. Invigorated and excited by this sudden recovery, I decided to play with my new blog and web site. I figured I was feeling better because I was supposed to get a lot of work done and have a FANTASTIC DAY! NOT! I instead began to struggle with the site and then my writing stalled. It took me 30 minutes just to figure out how to log back into the blog site for cheese’s sake! You gotta marvel at the massive intelligence of a hacker if I can’t even figure out how to get back into my own site. I kept banging away at it until I couldn’t possibly look at the screen any longer. I soon discovered I couldn’t look at ANY digital screen without feeling nauseated. I angrily stomped out of my office to go pout and beat myself up. I wasn’t really listening to the universe.⁣ ❤⁣ Gah! Ever tried reiki massage? It is truly amazing. Meet Jules Green! ⁣ ❤⁣ One sunday afternoon I was suffering from a kidney infection. I was on my third round of antibiotics and I was pretty freaking sick and tired of being sick and tired. It was time to be finishing up on editing Jules' photos the next day, so I was trying to rest. I really doubted I would be better. ⁣ ❤⁣ Suddenly my phone buzzed and it was Jules! She asked me if I wanted a reiki massage in an hour! I couldn't believe it! An hour later I was on her table and her healing energy was absolutely amazing. It was unlike any other experience I'd had. She rarely actually touched me and yet, there were many times that I thought she had more than two hands. Building a life that I dream of is not at all easy, especially when I am still learning how to do such a thing. I used to think that people with cool lives were somehow more blessed and that things came easily to them. Nothing could be further from the truth, its hard work and ALL of us are blessed. I really panicked two days ago when I realized my homework for the Personal Brand Photography Story Session course was to build a landing page. I don’t know why it freaked myself out so much? I’ve figured out so many “new technologies” in the past few years, so this really wasn’t much different than anything else. Limiting beliefs get talked about so much, but its so hard to get past them when you are in the moment. With practice it gets easier. There was a point where I reminded myself of all that. I turned to my classmates and within 24 hours, i had my landing page up!
