i am not too active on social media but since i played persona 5 royal (i had played base game but didnt get royal until a few months ago) the worms have not left my brain. so here are pokemon teams i came up with for each of the royal trio (i may do the rest of the phantom thieves later if im feeling up to it). akiren:

(i added in togetic because of its association to good luck! its to reference how sumire kept a good luck charm before each of her performances. pretty proud of that one LOL. i like to think she gets lilligant when she fully awakens her persona but idk yet) i wanted each person to have a main "specialty" with the exception of akiren and akechi who are multi specialist to reference the fact that they are wild cards. however, akechi leans more into using dark and steel types (when you initially meet him, he only has decidueye, gallade, and palafin all heroic looking pokemon, everyone else comes after/during his black mask reveal). sumire of course would be mainly fairy type. however i didnt really want to restrict myself down to that so i just chose whatever fit them LOL. its just a neat little hc i wanted to have for myself which didnt work unfortunately.

I keep (mentally) working in the Persona 5 Pokemon AU and this time Morgana is the one at fault for having me pondering stuff

At first I was gonna give him the flying type, as his element is wind and it's the easy choice. But BUT thing is he already looks like a Pokemon (kinda) so I'm probably gonna give him his human form (or make him a talking Meowth like the one Jeese and James have). So I was thinking that being a human it could be fun not giving him a type but making him only have cat-like Pokemon, but of course he would vehemently deny he likes cats at all, alleging it's mere coincidence. Choices, choices...

(yeah, I must admit flying pokemon are not among my faves and that's what triggered all this)

Thinking about a pokemon AU where Akechi is a zoroark disguised as a human and he talks to Akira about his trauma around his mother's self-inflicted death while staying vague enough that it's not obvious he's a fox that had an upbringing at least partially in the wild.

So currently I'm playing the Pokemon DLC and yesterday I was talking with a friend who is playing Persona 5 Royal....and my brain decided it would be a great idea to make a kinda Pokemon AU.

Something very simple, I'm not planning on writing or even drawing any of it but I want to make each of the Phantom Thieves a gym leader with their own team.

The types for many of them are quite obvious, electric for Ryuji, fire for Ann, Ice for Yusuke...

But I'm stuck with Akiren and Makoto. I kinda feel like "normal" would be great for Akiren but I'm not convinced enough

And Makoto... There's no Pokémon type similar to nuke. I thought about maybe "fighting" but that's more about Makoto herself than the element per se. Maybe dragon is more similar to nuke? Don't now how to explain it but for me it kinda makes sense (as we say in my country "Es su cabeza espectacular")

But wouldn't that make her too overpowered? I feel like I'm playing favourites with her

full disclosure, this au started as a joke.

so for the last two-three-ish weeks i've been playing with the idea of a pokemon au for the p5 cast, it's been living in my head rent free, and it's been developing with a speed i definitely was not expecting but am not about to question, and there is definitely an impending fic in the making. so i decided i'd try something new where i actually introduce an au on here before i start posting the fic itself to my ao3 and yes this is partially because my co-developer-slash-beta-reader-slash-best-friend has art pending for this. just gonna do brief introductions (as brief as i can manage anyways; proper character introductions are coming soon!) so without further ado, here we go :D

setup: this is obviously set in the world of pokemon; however it is not set in any particular region. this is partly because i wanted to keep my options open when selecting pokemon for the main cast. in addition, the main cast have been aged up to college age, with the pts in the 20-23 range (as of right now akira will be 22 and the rest will be adjusted around that). pokemon journeys begin around 17 or 18 and there's not as much pressure to start a journey as soon as you're old enough, which is why akira is only just starting his. non-thief confidants will be making appearances, though most will be only minor. also, morgana is not a pokemon - he is still a cat, and he can still talk. this will be explained much much later. for now here's the main cast:

akira: the one on a journey! he lives with sojiro, who runs a pokemon cafe in a small town, and futaba, his little sister in all but blood. he likes to run a mixed-type team and calls home often

ryuji: trainer who specializes in electric types! he was supposed to start his journey right at eighteen but wasn't able to due to his leg injury. he grew up with his yamper, which evolved into a boltund a few months into ryuji's recovery; the boltund is his best friend

ann: fierce fire type trainer who loves to travel! she's in a long distance relationship with shiho, who lives in a neighboring city. her starter pokemon was fennekin, which sparked her love for fire types; she's very protective of all her pokemon

yusuke: ice type trainer whose real passion isn't pokemon battles but pokemon art! he has a goal to paint every pokemon, and he's slowly working his way through every one he can find, starting with his beloved frosmoth. but he can't explore the world just yet....

makoto: the youngest steel type gym leader in her city's history! at only twenty, she was able to beat out several older candidates for the position of gym leader through her sheer skill and her coordination with her pokemon. her skarmory is a force to be feared

haru: unwilling but skilled psychic type gym leader! her father used to run the gym and insisted she take his place when he retired, and she's plenty suited to the task. but she has other interests and plans for her future that only gothitelle and her other pokemon know....

goro: dark type gym leader who is rarely at the gym! he wants to run the gym, but an organization beyond his control is set on wresting control of the gym from him. they can't get control without defeating him, though, so he and his corviknight are on quite the trip

sumire: the trainer with an uncertain path! her sister once ran a grass-type gym in their city, but she's been in a coma for months. she's not sure how to move forward. fortunately for her, mimikyu found her at her lowest and could help her choose a future....

i'm really looking forward to posting this au, both in the form of actual fic on ao3 and fleshing out the details here on tumblr! i've got big plans for the story, which is shocking for someone who struggles with plot so often, so i think this'll be a fun experience. can't wait to share more :3

Pokemon trainers Akira and Goro would like to battle!

Akira gets Absol bc it often gets mistaken as a doom bringer, matching Akira often being mistaken for delinquent/bringing trouble wherever he goes. He also gets Zorua for obvious trickster reasons + Joker’s colour scheme. I like the idea of Absol and Zorua being treated as outcasts by society just like how Akira was when he came to Tokyo. (Also considered Spiritomb and Hoopa at one point, Akiren’s team would consist of outcast Pokemon lol)

Akechi gets Mimikyu bc of their matching stories and personalities, and Type: Null for similar reasons + RKS ability in reference to his wildcard ability! I also love the theme of Akechi’s Pokemon’s true power hiding behind masks, just like him. (Other Pokemon considered: Corviknight, Hisuian Zororoark, Marshadow, Cubone)

Unsure of what Pokemon I would give for the other PTs but it’ll def be themed based too for sure! (Like Ann’s would revolve around “beauty is deadly” etc etc
