- “Indio” is a term for Native Filipinos Spanish colonizers used during the colonial period.
- “Tapis” generally refers to a piece of cloth that is tied around the body as clothing. In this context, this is the fabric wrapped over the skirt or saya.
- “Saya” is a long traditional skirt.
