Day 8. Extra Prompt Edition: Injury

It's a cheat day for me folks. Sorry, but Ferris Wheel wasn't particularly inspiring to me. Time for some overly dramatic angst! Rated T for non-graphic descriptions of injury and blood.

"Damn it. Bastard has a pretty good aim." Zagan hissed through her teeth, her mechanical arm pressed into her side and her right slung around Norma's shoulders.

"Stop talking, you'll make it worse." She’d tried to keep her head up, but her voice trembled.

"Honey, this is as bad as it gets."

"Shut up, please." They pushed forward amidst the chaos of battle. Imps were getting flung around like ragdolls in the hands of a rowdy kid. Other demon royals rallied their troops while the blindingly white cohort of angels tried to keep their formation from crumbling.

Norma dragged them both into a hiding spot behind an ice cream truck, which stood abandoned near the entrance to the park.

"How bad is it? Be honest." Norma rummaged through her backpack, looking for something that could help.

"Well, he basically got all the way through." Zagan lifted the metal hand and peeked at the circular hole in her side. "Almost, I think I can see my spine from here."

"Stop, this isn't funny." She wiped the tears from her eyes. "If we won't do something now you'll..."

"Die? I've been dead a hundred times longer than I've been alive. I'm not scared."

"Don't lie to me," she snapped. She wasn't panicking anymore; she was furious. "You always do this." She dropped her backpack and kneeled next to the wounded demon. “How do I save you? I know there must be a way."

"I need to get to the castle. I have some blood stashed there, drinking and resting in my coffin should do." Dark, thick liquid oozed from in between her metal fingers.

"We can't. They still control the elevator. The counter offense might take a whole day, half a day if we're lucky." She was basically in Zagan's face, looking her straight in the eyes with resolve. "Drink my blood."

"No."

"Do it, I'm giving it to you."

"I won't drink your blood Norma."

"Why not?" The human was basically in her lap, holding onto the front of her shirt hard enough to turn her knuckles white. "What's wrong with my blood? Are you this disgusted with me that you'd rather fucking die than drink it?" Hot tears were streaming down her face, some of them falling on the half-dead vampire. With her fading lucidity, Zagan realized that only her wound protected her from her little friend's wrath.

"No," it was getting harder and harder to talk, her whole body felt heavy and unresponsive. "I don't want your blood because I always hoped you would make this choice by yourself. To let me have you coursing through my veins." She stopped, words were getting heavy too.

“This is the worst time to be a hopeless romantic! Open your eyes, Zagan! Look at me!" She felt her body getting shaken and she willed her eyelids into obeying her. Norma sat in front of her, her jacket and sweater discarded with her backpack. She leaned into her, pushing against the dying demon. "Here." She pulled on the neckline of her t-shirt hard enough to rip it open and took Zagan's face into her hands. " I'm doing it because I want you here, with me. You can't die yet. I won't let you."

"There, might be, consequences."

"Let them be." She pulled her even closer resting her own head at the crook of the vampire's neck and dug her fingers into her back.

With those last words, Zagan finally opened her mouth and bit down.

well uh, honestly didn't think i'd be doing this again, but Parkvember will be coming back! for anyone unaware, due to an incident that made me deeply uncomfortable with Dead End for a while, the Discord for Parkvember was deleted and i decided that for the foreseeable future, Parkvember wouldn't be coming back

however, i've recently found my love of the show again, and this November, Parkvember will be back! the Discord server will be opened up sometime in the coming weeks so be sure to keep an eye out

i will say that there may be some people who i won't feel very comfortable having in the server, so if you notice that people around last year aren't anymore, just keep that in mind! much of it is personal so i won't get into it much, however i'm hoping those issues won't get in the way of everyone enjoying Parkvember again

can't wait to see you all when the server opens!!

Day 7. Deathslide

Slightly late but hey, there's still 7th in some timezones right? My thoughts for this one were as follows: "Everyone got a little messed up by what's happened. I wonder how Badyah is handling it."

Day 7. Deathslide

Switching from working as a regular ride operator to demon busting was tougher than she'd anticipated. She wasn't sure what her thought process had been at the time. Probably something like, "Oh no! Norma's upset! Is she mad at me? Hope not but better make sure ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ." In any case, she had a pretty rough time. Never mind the party and the angels. What happened to Pugsley was the real shock, like a bucket of cold water dropped on her head. In retrospect, it was a bit weird it took her this long to realize how serious their situation was. Someone died. She wasn't sure she'd seen anyone die in person before. Maybe she should've called Barney's therapist too?

Her disjointed musings got interrupted when an imp was flung through the open window. It slammed into the wooden wall enough force to leave a mark.. Norma scrambled into the room after the demon, her eyes narrowed in  merciless fury.

“We talked about it Jimmy,” she growled out in a voice so foreign it made Badyah flinch. “Do you want me to notify your chieftain?”

“C’mon!” The imp stood up on shaky legs. “Don’t tell her. I’ll behave, honest!”

“I won’t just take your word for it. You had your chance, but,” she pulled out a small, pocket-sized notebook and a pen, “sign here and you can go.”

“Really?”

“Yes.”

“All right!” The small demon scribbled something on a page, seemingly without hesitation, and then immediately de-materialized into a burst of fire.

“Busy day?” She honestly had no idea what just went down, but she wasn’t going to let it distract her from the fact that Norma had just beaten up and then promptly exorcized a demon.

“Same old.” Her best friend, who was now technically her boss, stretched her arms over her head. Badyah could hear pop of joint slotting back into place.

"Do you want to hang out? It's lunchtime soon anyway."

"Sure, we should brainstorm the topic for the next episode anyway."

"Wanna go for a ride?" Badyah gestured towards the coaster that not so long ago was her regular station.

"Deathslide?" Norma tilted her head to the side as if pondering the question. Briefly, a weird expression crossed her face but she seemed to swallow down whatever words that threatened to spill. "Sure, why not?"

They took their seats and let the new guy check the security bars. 

"If you want to go back I won't be stopping you," Norma said quietly as the carts got pulled backwards.

"What? No way," she managed to say before throwing her arms up. The cart dropped down and the familiar pressure of the G forces helped her decompress almost instantly. "I might be missing this a little bit." She turned to Norma, "but being a ride operator has nothing on working with you. It feels meaningful now."

"You," she responded with tears in her eyes, "you really think so?"

"Of course. Before you came I was just messing around at my yearly summer job. Now I feel like I'm actually doing stuff."

"I'm so glad you feel that way." She exhaled in relief, like this was the first time she'd been able to actually do so in a long while.  

"Say, how does 'demonic exorcism' sound for our next podcast topic?" 

"If you want to learn how to exorcise demons I could just show you."

"Podcast sounds more fun."

"Never change Badyah."

"Got it, boss!"

So, Parkvember is officially over! I love what everyone has done for it, and hopefully I'll have the official Tumblr up and reblogging posts soon enough. I also wanted to just send out a little thank you @hamishsteele since he's kinda the only reason this exists in the first place. The show and comics are really important to a lot of people, and I feel like this challenge really helped to show that.

So, thank you, Hamish, for creating such wonderful content, and I can't wait to see how things go from here. With any luck, next year will be another round of this great challenge, and I look forward to being the one to run it again! This community is wonderful, and it means so much to me that people genuinely enjoyed this random 1 am idea I had.
