Okay, not AS good as the last one, but in order for this heckin continent to have the biomes it does, ONE: It's significantly smaller than Pyrrhia, and TWO: It would have to be near the equator.

Silkwing + Hivewing headcanon designs! The characters are Cecropia (silkwing, he/him) & Paper (hivewing, they/them)
No idea what I’m gonna use these guys for but I definitely want to make headcanon designs for all of the tribes. I’ll probably do Leafwings next so I can knock out all the Pantalan tribes & move on to the Pyrrhian ones :3

Headcanon:
Although it's extremely rare these days, some HiveWings are born with a black tear shaped scale behind their eyes, and have sporadic, but weirdly accurate, dreams about the future. Unfortunately, Queen Wasp saw them as a threat to her reign, and either had the dragonets executed, or permanently controlled them through the breath of evil.
Some HiveWings are even born with silver scales on their wings, or forked tongues, which makes them very attractive to other HiveWings (clearly the goddess Clearsight has blessed them!), but these traits are uncommon in HiveWings.

Tribes of Pantala
Here's the approximate size lineup of the Pantalan tribes! (my apologies for the LeafWing and HiveWing having such similar colors, it will happen again /hj)
As previously stated in each tribes' blurb, SilkWings are the largest tribe on the continent (which isn't saying much, because they're also a bit small compared to Pyrrhian tribes).
LeafWings aren't any bigger than SilkWings, but stand taller because they're bipedal.
HiveWings are the smallest, but are also the quickest and most combat-capable when it comes to talon-on-talon fighting. Their strength lies especially in numbers to counteract their disadvantage in size.

This is my silk wing, Cairn. They recently moved to pyrriha and got a job at possibility. They pour lemon drops and candies from Pantala and sells them. They are friends with mist ( other dragon on my blog ) and mist frequents their shop. They have bug like eyes, no pupils visible. They go by they/them or he/him. They enjoy flying and gardening outside their shop with native pantalian flowers in woven baskets.

I honestly think that it's stupid that the pantala tribes had absolutely no foreshadowing at all. Maybe a random ruin here or there. Random things that some characters would find weird but readers would just brush off until it gets to the pantalan dragons introduction then everything would've clicked into place. It is said the pantalans are meant to have fled from pyrhia or whatever they should've left something behind. ANYTHING BEHIND. It didn't have to be obvious.
I know that Tui at first probably didn't have much of a plan about arc 3 but in arc 2 there should've been some more foreshadowing atleast in book ten. Maybe a throwaway ruin in an overgrown forest that allowed some continuity there. It just infuriates me.
(sorry if anything sounds a bit off. I'm half asleep and I haven't read the books in a while.)

so i was thinking about wings of fire while at work again
and i was thinking. pantalan language right
in the books, they adopt clearsight's language completely, so that they can reasonably communicate with pyrrhian dragons later on. i'm not gonna nitpick the logistics of this, gritty details like this are clearly not tui's focus and that's fine. but i had some ideas for my own heacanon universe.
what if, instead of trading one tongue for another, pantalan dragons held onto their original language - let's call it pantalan - while also learning clearsight's pyrrhian? the idea that they slowly became bilingual feels much more realistic to me. and then, because clearsight became so widely worshipped and mythologized, i'd imagine that eventually pantala began to see pyrrhian as a fundamentally spiritual or holy language, not to be used as casually as their own. i imagine it would be used when referring to her, or her part in their history, or even when talking with extreme emotion that they don't feel can be fully conveyed with pantalan.
while most languages evolve over time, i actually think pyrrhian - for pantala - would not. they don't want to change the language they see as holy, and scholars rely closely on the book of clearsight to study the language so thoroughly that alterations are almost impossible. meanwhile, though, in pyrrhia, of course their language has changed over time, since it's casually spoken. so i actually think that while technically they're the same language, there would still be some communication difficulties between the two continents. it would be essentially like us today communicating with people who still spoke in thousand-year-old english. possible, but clunky. (i love to imagine tsunami's reaction when she washed up to pantala and realized the only way she could understand them is when they talk like starflight's most insufferable scrolls)
anyway, that's it. i didn't really take into account the fact that it's heavily implied that the pantalan tribes originally came from pyrrhia themselves (maybe rainwing offshoots?) and therefore would probably already have a similar language. i didn't think too much about that for the sake of simplicity, but if that gives anyone any other ideas, please lmk!!
fantasy language stuff is fun :)

Is this considered canon?
The SilkWings wing buds just look like mini wings. Like, I don't really get the idea of spinning a cocoon just to grow wings, but I guess you gotta make the butterfly dragons make a "chrysalis" for some reason.
Would a SilkWing or SilkWing hybrid who couldn't make silk, also grow wings without making a cocoon? I mean, someone at some point must've had the idea to tie the front legs together, or otherwise restrict a SilkWing from making their cocoon. Would they just grow their wings without it?
What if someone ripped a SilkWing from their cocoon? Would they wake up? Would their wings be deformed?
If their cocoon prevents the SilkWing from being tampered with while growing their wings, what happened to Tau? Why is one of her hind wings deformed? Was the bud damaged, or did something happen in the cocoon?

hc during the winter months some hivewings will grow fuzzy hairs between their scales like bees to keep their bodies warm and active in the cold
is it unrealistic? yes. do I care? no. they could also shed their scales in some areas like the neck where new scales and hair will grow, the hair will eventually shed as the scales fully regrow in spring I don't know! they're dragons :3
