Christmas in London - Hotel Edition
Christmas in London – Hotel Edition
London during the Christmas season has to be one of my favourite places. All of the shops are decorated, Oxford Street has their Christmas lights up and Covent Garden’s Christmas tree is decorated and ready for the big day. If you’re thinking of coming to London for some Christmas shopping or a festive day out Ice Skating at Alexandra Palace, staying in the right hotel can really make or break…

22/11/2023 - Dinner
Dinner and Dance and Pan Pacific
🐙 Starters
Tasted fine, nothing special but nothing to complain about either
🥣 Seafood Treasure Soup
Quite tasty, lots of scallop. Needs vinegar to be more punchy.
🍗 Chicken with Honey Soy Sauce
Surprisingly nice. Sauce is also pretty addictive. The spring onion sauce was a little off but that's still fine.
🐟 Steamed Sea Bass with Chef Special Sauce
It's a spicy, sweet and slightly sour sauce. Very punchy. Fish doesn't have that fishy smell either.
🌱 Braised Asparagus
Not sure why but the heads has a slightly fishy tastes. Stems were fine
🍜 Ee-fu Noodles
Bleh. Worst dish of the night. Was also super soggy for some reason? And rather bland.
🥭 Mango Sago
Has the popping balls too! It's not bad, but not the best.
Had a super enjoyable night with Hossan Leong as the emcee. He's hilarious.

Wake Island, Japanese Bunker, Pacific Ocean: Wake Island is a coral atoll in the Micronesia subregion of the northwestern Pacific Ocean. The atoll is composed of three islets and a reef surrounding a lagoon. The nearest inhabited island is Utirik Atoll in the Marshall Islands, located 592 miles to the southeast. The island had little development until 1935, when Pan American Airways constructed an airfield and hotel to serve as a waypoint for trans-Pacific flying boats. Japan seized the island at the outset of World War II in December 1941; it remained under Japanese occupation until the end of the war in September 1945. Wikipedia

On The 28th and 29th October Elvis Presley Played Two Shows Concerts At The Pacific Pan Auditorium In LA in 1957
In his first show at the Pan Pacific Auditorium, Elvis Presley was determined to impress his celebrity-studded audience, and he did. With Hollywood celebrities and their children among the more than nine thousand in attendance, Elvis Presley performed eighteen songs ending with 'Hound Dog'.
Throughout Elvis Presley’s performance that night, a three-foot tall replica of Nipper, RCA's trademark, sat at one side of the stage. Concluding the show with 'Hound Dog' Elvis Presley grabbed Nipper around the neck (Pictures below) with his left arm and lifted him from the floor, eventually lying on the floor while continuing to sing into the microphone in his right hand.
The audience went wild but the newspapers the following day took a different view - As often happened at Elvis Presley concerts in the fifties, eyewitnesses saw the same stage events differently as they were filtered through predetermined prejudices, both for and against Elvis Presley
At a party in his hotel suite after the show, Elvis Presley met Ricky Nelson, while hosting entertainers Nick Adams, Carol Channing, Sammy Davis Jr and Tommy Sands. Nick Adams and Sammy Davis Jr entertained the guests with impressions. Elvis Presley’s date for the evening was Actress Model Anne Neyland.
Elvis Presley approached Ricky Nelson telling him 'Man, I just love your new record' and that he loved the 'Ozzie and Harriet Show' saying he watched it all the time. When photoplay editor Maria Borie told Elvis Presley that Ricky was about to go out on tour for the first time and could use some advice, Elvis Presley took Ricky aside and gave him some tips on what to do on tour. 'You'll never know how much tonight has meant to me' Ricky told Maria Borie later in the evening. 'Imagine Elvis Presley watching our show. He repeated episodes I'd even forgotten about. He remembered them word for word. And he gave me some great tips about things to do on my tour'. Rare Ticket Stub And Rare B/ W Candid Photos From Both Of These Two Shows. And Press Conference B/W Photo. All By Photo Editor Marie Borie.

Uyuni Salt Flat
Salt pan in Bolivia
Salar de Uyuni, amid the Andes in southwest Bolivia, is the world’s largest salt flat. It’s the legacy of a prehistoric lake that went dry, leaving behind a desertlike, nearly 11,000-sq.-km. landscape of bright-white salt, rock formations and cacti-studded islands. Its otherworldly expanse can be observed from central Incahuasi Island. Though wildlife is rare in this unique ecosystem, it harbors many pink flamingos.
Elevation: 3,663 m (12,018 ft)
Formed by: Evaporation
Location: Daniel Campos Province, Potosí Department
The Salar de Uyuni (Spanish: Salar de Uyuni) is a salar located in the highlands of southwestern Bolivia. It is close to the city of Uyuni, from which it takes its name.

Altered Boy (Beware Paraguay)
Aloha, you know, some people ask me "Jimmy, where do you come up with those ideas for some of those songs?" Well, this particular song got its initial inspiration from a visit to the Tonga Room In the beautiful Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco For those of you who may be geographically-impaired, San Francisco is in California, the gateway to the Pacific And if you look out across the Golden Gate Bridge to those beautiful and tranquil waters You can imagine that in the thousands of islands that dot the surface of the Pacific from California to Hong Kong Somewhere out there, there are still bands Who play music like this and just can't stop
Oh no, he's buying an island Oh no, he's building a boat Why does he never stop smiling? Fun surrounds him like a deep moat
Where does he get all those stories? How can he tell such a lie? He's bound to see purgatory His views are in short supply
But Peter Pan would understand His schemes and dreams and ploys Best keep an eye on his sleight hand He such an altered boy
Good God, he's talking with parrots Painting his dreams in the sand Piling up beaucoup demerits Doing it just 'cause he can
By Jove, he's having a cocoa Evading those judgmental eyes Calmly walking his tight rope High above all the outcries
But Peter Pan would understand His schemes and dreams and ploys Best keep an eye on his sleight hand He such an altered boy
The story goes He stumbled at the alter Now it seems he just blasphemes And dwells with danger's daughter
Someone call the talking doctor Somebody get a SWAT team There he sits getting away with murder How dare him live out his dreams
But Peter Pan would understand His schemes and dreams and ploys Best keep an eye on his sleight hand He such an altered boy
Oh no, he's sailing today Oh no, beware Paraguay Oh no, anchors aweigh Oh no Excuse me, waiter Do you think I could have another one of those Singapore slings? Mahalo Oh no, anchors aweigh They just can't stop

TOP 10 FAVOURITE FILMS
Tagged by @codotafterdark (Absolute champ)
10. Some Like It Hot 9. The House that Jack Built 8. Sinister 7. Grand Budapest Hotel 6. Atlantis the lost Empire 5. REC (The OG from Spain) 4. Pacific Rim 3. Pan's labyrinth 2. No Country for Old Men 1. Tokyo Godfathers
Some of these movies are my favorite for different reasons. I have watched so many and probably some I liked more or even loved more, but the thing is, I REMEMBER the movies in the list from the top of my head. If I liked something before and it just doesn't come to mind to me I guess the impact wasn't as juicy. (I do have honorable mentions tho so its not the first 10 movies I remembered).
Anyway, who am I tagging? Your Mom. No one bcs everyone I know has tagged each other in a circle ha hah.

Canada Place, Vancouver
Canada Place is a building situated on the Burrard Inlet in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is home to the Vancouver Convention Centre, the Pan Pacific Vancouver Hotel, the Vancouver World Trade Centre, and the virtual flight ride FlyOver Canada. The building's exterior is covered by fabric roofs resembling sails. It is also the main cruise ship passenger terminal for the region, where cruises to Alaska originate. The building was designed by architects Zeidler Roberts Partnership in joint venture with Musson Cattell Mackey Partnership and DA Architects + Planners.
Canada Place is accessed via West Cordova Street and near Waterfront Station, a major transit hub with SkyTrain, SeaBus, and West Coast Express connections.
The structure was expanded in 2001 to accommodate another cruise ship berth. During the 2010 Winter Olympics, Canada Place served as the Main Press Centre.
Canada Place was built on the land which was originally the Canadian Pacific Railway's Pier B–C. Built in 1927, its primary purpose was to serve CPR and other shipping lines trading across the Pacific Ocean.
In 1978 Federal, Provincial and Municipal governments commenced planning for development of convention, cruise ship and hotel facilities. Four years later, the Government of Canada created a crown corporation, the Canada Harbour Place Corporation (known as Canada Place Corporation until 2012), to develop the Canada Place project on the Pier B–C site. Construction began when Queen Elizabeth II arrived on the Royal Yacht Britannia with Pierre Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada and William R. Bennett, Premier of BC to initiate the first concrete pour.
During Expo 86, the Canada Pavilion at Canada Place was opened by Prince Charles and Brian Mulroney, Prime Minister of Canada. Among the largest and most elaborate pavilions presented by any nation at any World's Fair, the Canada Pavilion hosted more than 5 million visitors prior to the October 13, 1986 closing date.
Canada Place Corporation (CPC), a Crown agent, continues to act as the coordinating landlord for Canada Place facilities.
