It’s so sad seeing how despite the whole pills thing and q!pac saying he will believe in himself more he will crumble the moment he gets anything that is remotely close to the federation. He cannot handle the feeling of having their eyes on him and will panic whenever he is alone and sees something from the federation. They have broken this man so much
It's definitely bc its not only the pills for pac. It's the collection of the first imprisonment, losing walter bob, been tortured again for days and then right after losing mike in front of his eyes. And then barely a week later he loses richas as well. They used this man as a chew toy and honestly im so impressed by how he still stands
Yes he crumbles and cries and sobs out loud but he walked towards the box anyway. He fought with literally teeth and nails to get the cure for him and Forever. He somehow still keeps his optimism and smiles and his heart of gold to help others. He's broken to his very core but he keeps himself together with duct tape, glue and lots of pretty hello kitty bandaids, plus a lot of stubborn optimism

Hello and Welcome
I have decided that I wanted to post up (if not only for my record, but for everyone else's) info I have collected while gaming. The game that currently has made me want to finally make this blog is Disney Dreamlight Valley. DLV is obviously still in the works and doesn't have an actual guide book yet. So, as apart of my first posts... I will be posting all the information I have collected/found on DLV.
Now for the intro to me...
I have been playing videogames since I can remember. I started off with the Sega Genesis Core (in the 90s, playing the Sonic games) and have moved all the way up to Playstation/Xbox/Nintendo Switch and PC gaming (current). I also have played arcade games like Moral Combat, Space Invaders, Galaga, Pac-Man, Galaxian, Street Fighter, Tekken, and a few others I can't remember off the top of my head. Some of my favorites of more recent games are God Of War (2018, PC/PlayStation 4 editions), Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Halo 3 & 4 (Xbox One edition... still have to play 5, I know... I am behind), Assassins Creed Origins (PC/Xbox One editons), Animal Crossing New Horizons, Kingdom Hearts 3 (PlayStation 4 edition), Cult of the Lamb (Switch/PC edition), Sims 4 (PC edition), Skyrim (PC/Switch/Xbox 360 editions), and a bunch more. Some online games I have played were Diablo 3, League of Legends, Elder Scrolls Online, and Overwatch. But I am very bad at online games. I prefer to play single player games. I am not the best at shooters, but I have played a few of those as well (Raindow Six Seige, F.E.A.R., Borderlands 1 & 2, Titanfall 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops & Modern Warfare 3, Bioshock 1-2 & Infinate, Left 4 Dead, Dying Light, Fallout 4, Mass Effect 1&2, etc.). Apart from all that, I go through phases of heavily playing games to taking a few months off (right now, I am in the heavily playing phase again). I also like to read fantasy/romance books (dabble in a bit of writing myself), watching tv/movies (current obsession with Stargate SG-1, Lucifer, and Good Omens) and just relaxing mostly.
List of Consoles I Have Played on: -Sega Genesis Core (model 2 on the webpage) -NES -Nintendo 64 -Nintendo GameCube -Gameboy -Gameboy Color -Gameboy Advance -Gameboy Advance SP -Nintendo DS -Nintendo DS Lite -Nintendo DSi XL -Nintendo 3DS XL -Nintendo Wii -Nintendo Switch -Nintendo Switch Lite -Nintendo Switch OLED [current] -Playstation 1 -PlayStation 2/PlayStation 2 Slim -PlayStation Portable (aka PSP) -Playstation 4/PlayStation 4 Slim -Xbox -Xbox 360 -Xbox One -Xbox Series X/S -PC [current] *Also think I played the Atari 2600 at some point, but not too sure

Progress on “StarStabber Zirc”, based on what I know about all the stuff I know goes into a functioning video game
Tumblr media
Player design: leaning more and more towards something more interactive than just flying around with the knife always out, but (A) not sure what to replace that with and (B) gonna have to rename the game if I change it to something besides stabbing. It will definitely be a melee attack and not a projectile, but maybe something that requires fuel/ammo, like a taser needing batteries? I still like the gimmick of having eyeballs orbiting you as shields, but I don’t want too many variables to keep track of: health power-ups are a must, so I want eyeballs or ammo, not both. Cash replaces the standard Points, although it feels a bit like if it’s money there need to be item shops to spend it at?
Enemy design: yeah that’s been pretty visible. Haven’t done much animating, but the convenient thing about basing the aesthetic on 90s shmups is that animation can be kept super simplistic--some of the Darius bosses barely moved. At some point I’m going to have to start narrowing it down instead of inventing more (both the enemies and their projectiles), but I don’t think I’m there yet.
Level design: core gameplay is based around the shoot-em-up model, which means most of the level design (besides what enemies are there) could be as simple as a scrolling background, which could be anything--cityscapes, space, fabric textures, anything. I’m still torn between whether it should be as simple as “The Plywood Level” and “The Denim Level” or if it should be something more wacky like “Planet Lumbertron” and “Janet (Jeans Planet)”. Previous posts have included crystal caves and a Pac-Man-esque maze, which will still be the case either way. Yeah there might be some simple puzzling involved, but look at the image above, you can tell exactly what you need to do, right?
Music: inspired by Parodius’ techno remixes of classical music, it’s MIDI versions of ragtime piano set to beats from Freesound.org
Sound effects: Itch.io’s collection of royalty-free sound effects, Wikimedia’s audio collection, my collection of old keyboards and musical instruments, and at least one type of gun will just be me going “bang!” Other suggestions are welcome
Plot/dialog: yeah we don’t do that here. Okay, maybe a LITTLE since it’s what people seem to want from games, but the overall plot is “a bad space overlord has a bunch of bad space monsters and you play as a severed hand strapped to a jet engine” and I’m not planning any twists or character development; Generalissimo Zaffre Repugnante of Planet Slime-o-Zoid is just a horrible person that hates freedom or coolness or conscious thought or whatever. Any cutscenes are going to be simple and/or skippable, but it would be pretty hilarious to use that old “still image of the characters that looks better than anything in-game” style and hire a professional animator to do a couple, maybe as like Kickstarter stretch goals or something

Pac-Mania Unleashed: The Endless Fun of Chasing High Scores!
In the world of gaming, few titles hold the iconic status of Pac-Man. Since its debut in the early 1980s, Pac-Man has captivated players with its simple yet addictive gameplay and enduring appeal. Decades later, the Pac-Man franchise continues to thrive, with new iterations and adaptations keeping the spirit of the original alive. One such iteration is "Pac-Mania Unleashed," a game that promises endless fun through the pursuit of high scores.
The Legacy of Pac-Man
Before delving into Pac-Mania Unleashed, it's essential to understand the legacy of the original Pac-Man game. Created by Toru Iwatani and released by Namco in 1980, Pac-Man quickly became a cultural phenomenon. Its intuitive gameplay, featuring a yellow, pizza-shaped character navigating mazes while avoiding ghosts, resonated with players of all ages. Pac-Man's success paved the way for numerous sequels, spin-offs, and merchandise, solidifying its status as a pop culture icon.
Evolution of Pac-Man
Over the years, Pac-Man has undergone various transformations while staying true to its core gameplay mechanics. From the classic arcade cabinets to home consoles, handheld devices, and mobile phones, Pac-Man has adapted to meet the changing tastes of gamers. Each iteration introduces new features, levels, and challenges while retaining the timeless appeal that made the original game a hit.
Introducing Pac-Mania Unleashed
Pac-Mania Unleashed is the latest installment in the Pac-Man franchise, offering players a fresh take on the classic formula. Developed by a team of dedicated designers and engineers, Pac-Mania Unleashed aims to capture the essence of the original while providing new experiences for both veteran players and newcomers alike.
Gameplay Mechanics
At its core, Pac-Mania Unleashed retains the classic gameplay elements that made the original Pac-Man so beloved. Players control Pac-Man as he navigates through a series of maze-like levels, gobbling up pellets while avoiding ghosts. However, Pac-Mania Unleashed introduces several new mechanics and features to keep the gameplay exciting and engaging.
One notable addition is the ability for Pac-Man to jump over obstacles, adding a new layer of strategy to the game. Players must time their jumps carefully to avoid hazards and outmaneuver the ghosts. Additionally, power-ups and special abilities enhance pacman 30th anniversary abilities, allowing him to temporarily gain advantages over his spectral adversaries.
The Thrill of Chasing High Scores
Central to the appeal of Pac-Mania Unleashed is the pursuit of high scores. Like its predecessors, Pac-Mania Unleashed challenges players to achieve the highest score possible by efficiently navigating the mazes, collecting pellets, and avoiding ghosts. The game keeps track of players' scores, encouraging friendly competition among friends and rivals.
The thrill of chasing high scores in Pac-Mania Unleashed lies in its blend of skill and strategy. Players must exhibit quick reflexes, sharp spatial awareness, and clever decision-making to maximize their score potential. Every pellet eaten, every ghost avoided, and every power-up collected contributes to the player's overall score, creating a sense of accomplishment with each successful playthrough.
Strategies for Success
While Pac-Mania Unleashed offers endless fun, mastering the game and achieving high scores require dedication and skill. Players can employ various strategies to improve their performance and maximize their score potential. Here are some tips for success:
Plan Your Route: Take time to study the maze layout and plan your route accordingly. Identify the most efficient path for collecting pellets and avoiding ghosts.
Utilize Power-Ups: Power-ups can give Pac-Man temporary advantages, such as increased speed or invincibility. Use them strategically to overcome challenging obstacles and outmaneuver ghosts.
Time Your Jumps: Pac-Man's ability to jump adds a new dimension to the gameplay. Mastering the timing of jumps is crucial for navigating obstacles and evading ghosts.
Stay Alert: Pay close attention to your surroundings and the movements of the ghosts. Anticipate their patterns and adjust your strategy accordingly to avoid getting cornered.
Practice, Practice, Practice: Like any skill-based game, practice is key to improving your performance in Pac-Mania Unleashed. Take the time to hone your skills and learn from your mistakes to achieve higher scores.
Conclusion: The Endless Appeal of Pac-Mania Unleashed
In conclusion, Pac-Mania Unleashed offers players a thrilling gaming experience that combines the timeless charm of the original Pac-Man with exciting new features and challenges. Whether you're a seasoned veteran or a newcomer to the world of Pac-Man, there's something for everyone to enjoy in Pac-Mania Unleashed. So grab your joystick, sharpen your reflexes, and embark on an endless quest for high scores in this exhilarating arcade adventure.

The Allure of Retro Gaming: Nostalgia, Revivals, and Collecting Classic Consoles
In the ever-evolving landscape of gaming, the allure of arcade games near me has a special place in the hearts of many enthusiasts. For decades, these iconic games served as the cornerstone of gaming culture, providing countless hours of entertainment and memories for players of all ages.
Now, as technology continues to advance and new gaming platforms emerge, there's a growing appreciation for the classics of yesteryear, giving rise to the phenomenon of retro gaming. At its core, retro gaming is about more than just reliving past gaming experiences—it's about nostalgia and the fond memories associated with them.
For many players, retro games evoke a sense of nostalgia for simpler times, when gaming was a social activity enjoyed with friends and family. Whether it's the familiar sights and sounds of classic arcade cabinets or the pixelated graphics of old-school consoles, retro gaming transports players back to a bygone era of gaming history. In addition to nostalgia, retro gaming also represents a revival of classic game design and gameplay mechanics.
Unlike modern games, which often prioritize cutting-edge graphics and complex gameplay systems, retro games are celebrated for their simplicity and accessibility. Whether it's the timeless gameplay of iconic titles like Super Mario Bros. or the addictive challenge of classic arcade games like Pac-Man, retro games offer a refreshing change of pace from the fast-paced action of modern gaming.
Furthermore, retro gaming has given rise to a thriving community of collectors and enthusiasts who are passionate about preserving gaming history. From vintage consoles and cartridges to rare memorabilia and merchandise, retro gaming enthusiasts are dedicated to building and maintaining collections of classic gaming artifacts.
For many collectors, the thrill of the hunt is just as rewarding as the games themselves, as they scour flea markets, garage sales, and online marketplaces in search of hidden treasures. But perhaps the most remarkable aspect of retro gaming is its ability to bring people together across generations. Whether it's parents sharing their favorite childhood games with their children or friends bonding over a round of retro multiplayer classics, retro gaming has a unique ability to bridge the generation gap and foster connections between players of all ages. In conclusion, the allure of retro gaming is a testament to the enduring appeal of classic games and the nostalgia they evoke.
From reliving fond memories of childhood to discovering hidden gems from gaming's past, retro gaming offers something for everyone, making it a timeless and beloved aspect of gaming culture. As we continue to celebrate the classics of yesteryear, the legacy of retro gaming will live on, inspiring future generations of gamers for years to come.

Review: Pac n' Roll
Tumblr media
Namco • Namco • 2005 • Nintendo DS • Played on Nintendo 3DS Read it on Backloggd: (x)
Lets all be on the same page: This game's kinda stupid, yeah? Its a complete novelty of a game made to experiment with a new gimmick in a really weird way. Its not aiming to be some paragon of solid game design or emotionally invigorating, masterclass game, I'm sad to report. Its a stupid game at its core, and that's exactly what drew me to buy it for the five bucks I found it for. A platformer with no jumping, controlled with whats essentially a trackball? I HAD to see what the hell this even was, and if there's anything to be gained from its gimmick.
And, I mean, kinda?
It feels like a game that taps into knowing how inherently fun it is to interact with its systems, like how Mario 64 was made so open ended to make its fully analog controls really feel natural and worthwhile. What you get here then is a bunch of ramps, slopes, straightaways and seesaws that all highlight the simple joy of Being Ball, but unlike Monkey Ball its not made to be ball-bustingly challenging and demanding you master its physics: Rather, it just asks you to have fun with them.
Honestly the vibe of the game in general feels extremely N64, not just with the aforementioned "look'it our cute gimmick" game feel that stuff like Glover or Chameleon Twist had but also just its visuals and sounds. Its a lot more vibrant, yet simple compared to Pac-Man World. It has that very specific "5th gen 3D game" kind of design where it kind of has objectives and escalating challenges, but it feels more interested in just letting you faff around, not really endangering you until way late in the game.
And sure, there are collectibles, much like the Pac-Man Worlds, which are more traditionally structured "escalating challenge" 3D platformers, yet it doesn't feel like Pac N Roll is all too interested in you getting 100% completion. (Though, having unique Time Attack layouts for all levels is a nice touch)
And, well yeah, the game does honestly feel quite nice to control to where I wouldn't have been opposed to 100%-ing this if I was a kid. The Pacster stops with a still tap of the screen but otherwise rolls with the momentum you give him, mixed with whatever the slopes are up to. There's a level near the end of the game that's all just one big slide a la Mario 64, except here due to the great sense of Ball you have it feels really intense and satisfying to get through, but you still are able to stop yourself at any time. Its such an interesting setup! The last two worlds in general are when the gloves come off and the game actually starts doing stuff with its insane setup, having stuff like multiple seesaws in a row you need to manipulate carefully to move across, bumpers that send you careening off stage, etc
For as middling as the experience can feel there's a kind of charm to seeing them try to add depth to such a gimmicky setup. Like, the speed burst move you get by stopping the stylus at the very edge of the screen, or the power-up hats that make you lighter or heavier. Silly stuff for sure, and they don't really ever test your prowess in Gaming, but they're there just to add a little more sauce to the weird meal you're having. Same kinda goes for the bosses, they're not really that hard but just toss you about in a new way from before.
All around, yeah, its a pretty ho-hum game--EXCEPT that the final boss, I shit you not, is a 5-phase GAUNTLET that is as big in level design length as the game's actual levels. Its genuinely insane but it has some of the most creative concepts in the game. Controlling the ball in a pinball machine? How about controlling the ball on a platform that's teetering all kinds of wild directions unpredictably! How about controlling one in a funnel, where taking any moment to rest sends you rolling toward the pit in the center?
Its this kind of variety, paired with the game's unreplicateable control setup, that makes me sad we'll probably never get a game like this again. These kinds of medium-budget, "hey this idea seems funny" games just don't happen anymore outside of...idk, mobile? VR? Its sad, but we should appreciate the quirkiness we got. Go hunt down those weird games! Concept seem ridiculous? Try it!
Typing of the Dead, Yoshi Topsy-Turvy, DK Jungle Climber, Sonic & the Secret Rings...Are all of these games great? No, not really! But their attempts at the bizarre concepts nobody else dared to try are worth experiencing, remembering, and learning from.
[Playtime: 10 Hours] [Key Word: Silly]

Last night when streaming classic Namco games in their NES/Famicom form and chatting with a pal, something hit me... A rather intense rush, something that's definitely kind of a core memory for me...
One of my big special interests was always video games from a long time ago...
Namely, the 1980s, and a few from the 1970s as well... but largely the period of 1978-1989. We're not going as far back as, say, PONG and COMPUTER SPACE...
1978 is arguably where the "Golden Age of Video Games" begins, with the likes of Taito's SPACE INVADERS and Atari's FOOTBALL, so I kinda start there.
Anyways, this special interest of mine began to take shape in roughly 2002/03... I'd argue its roots are in me, then a preteen, reminiscing about playing rather rudimentary games as a child...
When I was around 5-7 years old, we had an MS-DOS computer. An early Microsoft operating system, which was available from 1981 to 2000. This must've been a spare computer from where my mother and stepfather used to work that was given to my sister and I as a "fun computer" of sorts, where we could play games.
Our games were shareware titles on floppy disks, to give you an idea of how old I am...
Some of these games, even though they were made around 1989-1993, looked like they could've come out roughly a decade earlier...
But it didn't matter, these games captivated me in the same way my NES games did and my PlayStation games did circa 1997-2000.
One of the games we had was a PAC-MAN clone called CD-MAN (imaginative title!) that placed a Pac-Man-esque character in a maze with castles and suchs, and you had to avoid spiders. The others were definitely more original than that, and were largely adventures.
There were space romps like COMMANDER KEEN 2 and CRYSTAL CAVES, which bore comic book-like subtitles. Another favorite of mine was the light horror HUGO'S HOUSE OF HORRORS, and its threequel HUGO III: JUNGLE OF DOOM. The original HUGO'S HOUSE OF HORRORS actually managed to freak me out as a child, even though it was largely a silent game whose sound effects came from the CPU every once in a while.
Some were educational, like GOOGOL MATH GAMES and AMY'S FIRST PRIMER. I remember playing those for long periods of time when I was in kindergarten. There was also a game called SKI FREE, where a gnarly-looking pixelated yeti always came after you, a real day-ruiner.
I feel the simplicity of these games and their puzzle-like gameplay were what kept me coming back as a kid, something mellow to veg out to. And simply because they were kind of bizarre and so unlike my PS1 games like CRASH BANDICOOT: WARPED and TEST DRIVE 5 and all the variety of game demos I had on the demo disc samplers. I never went at these games thinking they "old" or "outdated", I felt they just simply stood in contrast to the then-modern stuff I was enjoying. They were like a journey into a more minimalist, surrealist space where things were more abstracted... That no doubt influenced a lot of my work, and informed a lot of my artistic tastes...
Around the early 2000s, I often went swimming at my local pool. After that, my father and I would go to the nearby diner. In the lobby was a MS. PAC-MAN machine. I remember watching a guy beat level after level, and I really really wanted to try it out. And eventually I did after another visit, and it was like playing my MS-DOS games all over again... And soon enough, I was scoping out arcade machines wherever I went. Around this time, Namco had released the "Class of 1981" arcade cabinet that was a two-fer containing MS. PAC-MAN and GALAGA. The original PAC-MAN was unlockeable via a simple cheat code. The "Class of '81" machine was common in so many places at the time, like restaurants and bowling alleys and such.
Eventually, I got my hands on NAMCO MUSEUM for XBOX, and I played it non-stop circa 2003/04. It had PAC-MAN, GALAGA, DIG DUG, all the iconic ones. At my local bowling alley, I always anticipated a whirl on the 1996 NAMCO CLASSIC COLLECTION machine that contained PAC-MAN, RALLY-X, and DIG DUG in addition to updated expanded versions of those games (called the "Arrangement" version). The "Arrangement" version of PAC-MAN and DIG DUG also appeared on that NAMCO MUSEUM set that I had, in addition to GALAGA ARRANGEMENT.
Eventually I got MIDWAY ARCADE TREASURES, an Atari collection for the PC which I forget the name of, a GameBoy Advance Konami classics collection, and some of those Jakks Pacific plug-n-play games with Namco titles packed into them. I even had one of those illegitimate "Power Joy" plug-n-plays that contained a ton of NES games and Famiclones. One of which was an amusing SUPER MARIO BROS. knockoff with a panda. Sitting next to the likes of CIRCUS CHARLIE and JOUST.
I was aaaaaall about those "retro" games, which were a little over 20 years old at the time... Now, the modern games of 2003 are 20 now. Lowkey terrifying...
But before I got those compilation packs, I wanted to look at this stuff. There was no YouTube in 2003, no smartphones, no way to really watch hours of gameplay at my fingertips... So I went to these websites like "System 16 - The Arcade Museum" and "KLOV - Killer List of Video Games", and printed - probably wasting my parents' color ink - sheets of screenshots of the arcade games, which had various information included. Title, year, hardware, etc. Links to flyers and ads, even. And I would staple little books together for myself, and even take those things to school with me and read them on my downtime. Okay, I was obsessed! I'm autistic! It's what we did with our special interests and blorbos and such!
To my joy, System 16 still exists on the world wide web and looks virtually the same as it did in 2003.
The thought gave me a jolt of joy, and I had a good laugh about that. Being around in the early 2000s, again - before YouTube and smartphones and such - was kinda wild! The shit we did when the internet was either dial-up or simply not fast enough. High-speed internet was slowly coming into homes, like it was this new novel thing. Watching a trailer for something online - for example - took like 20 minutes to load, for something that was like 2 1/2 minutes long.
And eventually I got books on the subject, some really good reads that I was immersed in circa 2003-2005. I was also subscribed to Game Informer at the time, and was literally buried in those magazines whenever I had the free time to do so and when not creating stuff.
I had kinda fallen out of the video game loop after, say, 2006. I try to stay within it, but it's often kind of hard for me. But my retro game collections are always dependable, and always there for me when I just wanna chill and play something that isn't a campaign or a big story or something like that. Nor some free-to-play game that gets repetitive and lacking for me. Nor a game that requires your wi-fi to be perfect every second of the day... Sometimes I just want to pop in a game and PLAY. Like I used to!
(At the risk of sounding like an angry old boomer who's in need of their cane.)
Remembering those things I did as a wacko neurodivergent middle schooler, these are the more uplifting and fun memories from a muddled and troubled time. I think of how much I passion I had when there was time to channel it, in a pre-social media age where I feel like I have to keep up with a gazillion other things. Back in 2003/04, it was just me, getting through school, Bionicle lore, retro games and some other assorted stuff. It wasn't so... Overwhelming. And no worries about financial stability and your rights being at stake...

Rena Reviews Euro Demo 67!
I don't remember many demo discs I had as a kid, just this and one other come to mind right now (which I'm also downloading) - but I'm just gonna chuck my thoughts on revisiting this silly psx demo disc here! It was in the official uk playstation magazine, i used to play the shit out of it over and over but only remember a couple of the games on there. Maybe I'll remember more while playing, who knows!
Tumblr media
look at this sexy fucking disc. This invokes absolutely nothing.
The playable games on here are:
Asterix: The Gallic War
Bugs Bunny & Taz: Time Busters
Chicken Run
Cricket 2000
Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge
Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness
Re-Volt 2 (RC Revenge)
Time Crisis: Project Titan
anyway. Join me under the cut as i talk about each of these!
straight away LOOK AT THIS SCREEN
Tumblr media
guys i think my demo disc has covid
the music is too generic to describe lmao but it goes very well with the imagery
anyway
Asterix:
I didnt grow up with Asterix! So there isn't the full nostalgic attachment there, but theres some *vague memories* here? Anyway I don't think I played much of this because it's dogshit.
Tumblr media
It's a *VERY* rudimentary turn based strategy where you pour potions on provinces to reinforce them, then you enter an attack phase where the bigger number wins, then Caesar's Legions attack (fallout new vegas omg????)
At the end of the attack phase you enter a minigame, one of them is a 3d platformer where you play as Obelix
Tumblr media
VERY bare-bones. There's no music *anywhere* in this demo. It's also all just very very slow. Won't be buying this when it comes out :/
Next up: Bugs and Taz!
This one is how I found the demo disc! It was one of the ones i played over and over, lets see if it holds up lol
There's thankfully a lot more to talk about here... and music!!!
Tumblr media
This is a pretty standard 3D platformer at its core, but you can switch between Bugs and Taz, or you can play it co-op! I imagine that's how its meant to be played. If you're playing single player the other character stands entirely still, however you can hit the left bumper to summon them back to you.
You collect carrots throughout, as well as medallions that I imagine don't do anything in the demo. They seem to be your stars.
When you have enough carrots you can participate in a minigame, the one I remember is the Pelota against the Aztecs.
Tumblr media
It's a fairly standard game, if you're playing single player though you *are* outnumbered - but it's not too hard anyway. You just steal the ball and try to throw it through the hoop.
The one I don't remember however, is
Tumblr media
Baladi lessons? It's a fairly standard simon says type game but
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it got gender in it
all in all, neat lil demo! I mostly remember finding rabbitholes and digging around in them because I thought it was insanely cool that bugs could go underground lol
Next up: Chicken Run!
this is the *other* game I played on repeat! But it *scared the shit out of me*. You'll see why.
Tumblr media
So... this is a stealth game
Tumblr media
You play as Ginger and you must *be careful of the dogs*
Tumblr media
The entire demo is dreary with unsettling ambient music, why the fuck did they make the chicken run game a metal gear clone????
Anyway, you are quite literally a chicken being chased by fucking dogs. and if you get caught a menacing stinger plays as you see this
Tumblr media
Was a bit much for me 2 year old heart i must say! Couldn't quite handle that!
Anyway, the stealth is really simple and easy, as one would expect. There's not much going on here other than childhood trauma.
Next: Cricket 2000!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
yeah
Next up issss: Frogger 2!
Tumblr media
Okay, I had no idea this existed at all. What the fuck?
Whenever I think of frogger sequels I think of those weird ps2 ones, but this is straight up frogger
Tumblr media
Rather than the traditional level though you're presented with a themed gauntlet, such as the first stage, a garden themed one. You are tasked with saving frogger's children.
You might be wondering, what happens if you get run over by a lawnmower?
Tumblr media
he explodes into chunks. What the fuck?
The second level is a haunted house
Tumblr media
This is genuinely an oddity to me, I never expected them to try implement traditional frogger gameplay into something like this. Might play it on stream at some point, I'm intrigued. That being said, I definitely dont remember this. Pretty decent? The music fucking OWNS btw
youtube
NEXT: Ms. Pacman Maze Madness!
Tumblr media
I had no idea this existed. But first I gotta say
REST IN PEACE MS PAC-MAN
she lives on in our hearts. Fuck pac-mom, ms. pac-man was where its at
Anyway this is. really *really* boring.
Tumblr media
It's that era of pac where they clearly had no idea what they were doing, which still goes on to this day (i say this affectionately, i love pac-man) but this one was a fuckin MISS
It's trying to translate the mazes into something completely different, more a labyrinth than the single screen mazes of yore, with block pushing puzzles and launchpads, a gauntlet you must get through while collecting as many pellets as possible
and its really lame and boring im sorry. I like that the ghosts seem to wear different attire in each level, i like that my gal ms. pac-man is here
i dont like much else. its slow and tedious as hell
however
Tumblr media
ROCKET LAUNCHER???? HUH???
Two games left!
Revolt 2!
I forgot to take screenshots but... this is an RC Racing game, it's really a cart racer with really confusing level design, a slight bump in the road will get your car flying across the entire universe and world. There's a bit where you drive under a jeep though which is pretty cute! @is-the-driving-good? No I'm afraid, ridge racer this is not.
Anyway I'm kinda rushing a lil bit because I'm tired and the last one is TIME CRISIS!!! ITS FUCKIN TIME CRISIS, DUDE!!! I love Time Crisis!!!
Time Crisis Titan
Tumblr media
Alas... This was not the saving grace this demo disc needed. I can't get far at all for reasons I'll get into, but what *is* there is full of the silly janky charm Time Crisis is known for.
Tumblr media
Love these silly models! Love em
Anyway, why is this on here? Why would you put *Time Crisis* on a demo disc? This *will not* shift copies, put it as a video or something, not as a playable demo! It's a fucking lightgun game, this is clearly made for a ps1 lightgun peripheral, but people are going to be playing this with a controller!
the crosshair is incredibly slow and it's VERY difficult to aim properly which is why i didnt get far, it's just... either someone is gonna not own a lightgun and see this and think its just shit, or own one and probably plan on getting it anyway, all that's needed here is a video feature showing it off, having it be playable is *a bad move*
this is likely a pretty good time crisis game! Most of the negative reviews I can see mention the beautifully crunchy graphics being bad so the gameplays probably fine, but by advertising it like this youre convincing people it isnt.
ANYWAY
this was disappointing lmfao
a fun trip down memory lane, but yeah none of these were really that fun at all. Thankfully, the PS2 demo disc I'm downloading has much more interesting titles. Will be doing the same thing with it when I can. I wrote this one over the course of a few hours, but that one will likely have more put into it.
If you read this far thank you very much lmao, and remember:

Despite the advancements in technology, these classic games continue to hold a special place in the hearts of enthusiasts. Let's explore the enduring appeal of retro video games and why they remain popular even in today's modern gaming landscape.
One of the main reasons why retro video games have endured the test of time is the strong sense of nostalgia they evoke. These games transport players back to their childhoods, reminding them of carefree days spent in front of the TV with friends or family. Furthermore, retro games are known for their straightforward and intuitive gameplay mechanics. With simple controls and basic graphics, they offer a refreshing break from the complex and visually overwhelming modern games. This simplicity appeals to gamers of all ages, providing a welcome escape from the demands of the real world.
Despite their technological limitations, retro video games are renowned for their addictive gameplay. Classic titles like Super Mario Bros., Pac-Man, and Tetris are revered for their engaging and challenging levels that keep players coming back for more. Retro games focus on core gameplay mechanics rather than relying on flashy graphics or elaborate storylines. This emphasis on gameplay ensures that these games remain enjoyable and entertaining even after decades have passed. It's a testament to the skillful design and enduring fun of these classics that they continue to be enjoyed by both seasoned gamers and newcomers alike.
The retro gaming community is a vibrant and passionate group that celebrates the legacy of classic games. From online forums and social media groups to dedicated conventions and retro gaming stores, enthusiasts come together to share their love for these vintage titles. Additionally, the collectibility factor of retro games adds to their allure. Many gamers seek out original cartridges or consoles to complete their collections, driving up demand and ensuring the preservation of gaming history. The hunt for rare or limited-edition releases creates a sense of excitement and adventure, connecting gamers from different generations through a shared passion.
The influence of retro games can be seen in the modern gaming industry, as developers often pay homage to the classics by adapting or remastering them for contemporary platforms. Remastered editions allow younger gamers to experience the magic of retro titles with enhanced graphics and updated features while retaining the core essence of the original games. This bridge between the old and the new ensures that the legacy of retro games lives on and continues to inspire future generations.
In a rapidly evolving gaming landscape, retro video games stand as a testament to the enduring power of simplicity, gameplay, and nostalgia. They provide a connection to the past, a reminder of a simpler era in gaming when imagination and creativity were at the forefront. As the retro gaming community thrives and the demand for these classic titles persists, it's clear that these games have transcended their initial release and become cultural icons. Whether it's the familiar sounds of an 8-bit soundtrack or the thrill of overcoming challenging levels, retro video games continue to inspire and captivate players, leaving an indelible mark on the history and future of gaming.
