Have a look at whats shes teaching! Fungi and Food Security Tess Burzynski This workshop will cover the basic principles of sustainable food security and environmental systems thinking. We will talk about how mushroom farming is a sustainable way to provide food, medicine and remediation to communities while operating in a sustainable manner. By applying systems thinking and basic environmental analysis, we can help solve food scarcity with mushrooms! Tess Burzynski is the founder, head educator and cultivator at @fungifreights Urban Farm and Environmental Studio. A Science degree graduate from Wayne State University, she works as an Environmental Project Manager and continues doing research with Mycoremediation in the city of Detroit. Her love of Fungi began in her early years exploring the outdoors. She is a member of the Michigan Mushroom Hunters Club and the North American Mycological Association. Throughout her studies she has learned the impact mycelium plays in the environment and how beneficial, tenacious and magical it truly is. Through Fungi Freights, her goal is to reunite mushrooms and mankind by educating Detroit and its surrounding neighbors about the benefits mushrooms have on health, food scarcity and the environment. My visit to the state of Maine was too short. But I think I got the idea. Free range eggs and outdoor Cannabis. If only we could all have these essentials. Now I'm back in New York state, where people go to jail for growing Cannabis. Just like many other states. And we might think, " oh we have medical", but in reality it's still highly controlled and people still go to jail daily for it. Honestly, only the richest get to enjoy the opportunity and privilege of growing cannabis in New York and other states, legally. It's so dumb. But that's what happens when we don't think the injustice implies to us. We forget to think about how many people get incarcerated for this herb. In my opinion this should not be controlled.
