Headcanons for Random Pokémon #3: Espathra:

Espathra are highly aggressive to others, including humans. They are territorial and will chase trespassers relentlessly.

One of the most dangerous Pokémon in Paldea. Their unpredictability makes them and their pre-evolution Flittle a poor choice for novice trainers.

Espathra can be needlessly cruel and take pleasure in mind-controlling others.

Female Espathra are much more aggressive and arrogant than males. The reasons are still unknown.

Male Espathra will dance and spar with other males using kicks to impress females.

If she isn't impressed, she will chase the males out of her territory.

If impressed, she begins to sway along with him.

In captivity, these Pokémon tend to be extremely narcissistic and tend to only care about their appearance.

If their trainer neglects to keep their feathery coats as glamorous as possible, they will not hesitate to kick.

Espathra can read people's emotions with ease and can manipulate them to get what it wants.

They were thought to be Pokémon only the royal could own back in ancient times. Espathra have not forgot about their status as a luxury Pokémon.

It is distantly related to Doduo and Dodrio due to both being mostly flightless.

Owners of Espathra tend to be seasoned trainers and of high status.

They can sleep with their eyes open.

The shedded feathers on Espathra tend to be used as material for high quality clothes and accessories.

Their feet are essentially immune to the arid heat of Asado desert due to protective scales.

Espathra are notoriously snobbish when it comes to food. Males who want to impress a female must also present her with the most perfect and tasty berries in Paldea.

They enjoy instigating conflict between people and wild pokemon by using their psychic powers to manipulate emotions.

It loves to create mirages for people stranded in the desert and find it very amusing when they realize that the watering hole or exit was an illusion.

Alfornada's symbol is an Espathra and considers them sacred.

Willy:7/10 (an above average shiny luck and he usually finds 3-5 shinies per game.)

Gus: 5/10 (his shiny luck is not too much or too little.)

Ozzie: 3/10 (a below average shiny luck, usually only finds one or two shinies per game.)

Tito: 9/10 (he has really good luck and has found a lot of shinies over the year.)

Cammy: 1/10 (she has only found a handful of shiny pokemon and she finds them extra special because of it.)

Sara: 9/10 (same as Tito)

Arty: 10/10 (he's constantly finding shiny pokemon and it causes Knighty to be extremely jealous.)

Meowscarada  ♂ - Her main partner, and lead of her team. Meowscarada has been with her since the start of her journey when she picked him up as a Sprigatito. He’s a rather mischievous type in the sense that he loves to watch the chaos that ensues after messing with the other Pokémon on her team. He’s very fast and is the first hurdle to really getting through her team.

Clodsire  ♀️ - No thoughts, head empty. Clodsire has been on her team almost as long as Meowscarada has been. Kotone was very excited the first time she’d seen a Paldean Wooper after moving from Hoenn that she snatched her up pretty quickly. Clodsire is very chill and tires pretty quickly, but she’s the sweetest. She’d be a lap dog Pokémon if she could help it. Her high defense and high HP have turned her into a wall. Affectionately referred to by Kotone’s friends as the “War of Attrition” 

Ceruledge  ♂ - As a Charcadet, he charged right at Kotone for a battle near the start of her journey and she caught him shortly after. He’s fiercely loyal and protective of her as his trainer. She evolved him into a Ceruledge about halfway through her journey and has come into his own quite well. He’s another fast fighter, and will drain your Pokemon of their HP before they know what hit them.

Lucario  ♂ - Riolu was a Pokémon that came to her rather unexpectedly after getting lost on her way to one of the gyms. He was the only one in the area and was quite lonely, though fairly defiant still. She battled and caught him and he’s been a loyal companion since. He’s the one that tends to keep the other, more rowdy Pokémon on her team in line. He’s quite strong and usually only gets brought out towards the end of a battle if she’s on the ropes (provided he doesn’t have a better type match up earlier).

Baxcalibur  ♂ - This is another Pokemon that she raised from his first evo. Kotone was instantly smitten with the (kinda derpy looking) Frigibax she found on her way to Larry’s gym. She had an instant connection with him and was very impressed by how quickly he wanted to prove himself on the team. She had no idea he would turn into such a big guy, but he’s as sweet as he was when she caught him. A gentle giant outside of battle. Raw strength is what he excels best in.

Espathra  ♂ - Kotone picked up a Flittle after some of her earlier gym battles. Flittle struggled in Pokemon battles, constantly getting sweeped in fights before he had a chance to prove himself. Despite that, Kotone did not give up on the little guy and kept him around in the party, working on boosting his power at his own pace. Once Flittle evolved into an Espathra, he felt renewed confidence in himself and got significantly better at battling.  He’s also a bit of troublemaker now, as he will be the first on her team to pick a fight at any opportunity. He now more than makes up for his lack of defense with his speed and high special attack.
