In Perfect Match Chapter 13 (Queen Hylda) you had Kenric notice that Oralie was pretty tall, only 6-7in shorter than him, and her 3in heels significantly decreased that difference.

I'm curious: What are your personal height HCs for them?

Because I thought that if Kenric is 6'4", then Oralie would be 5'9"-5'10", and on heels, a whopping 6'0"-6'1"

Yay I’m getting to this ask actually soon after you sent it! I love this question because I actually have a definite answer to it. We don’t know too much about their heights in canon, just that they’re both taller than Bronte. (Which, I headcanon Bronte to be like 5’0”, so to be fair most characters are probably taller than him.)

But I’ve always thought both Kenric and Oralie are on the tall side- I don’t have the books with me rn but I’m pretty sure it says that Kenric is significantly tall. I know it does say that he’s built like a football player, and according to Google the average football player height is 6’2” (I know absolutely nothing about sports so that’s the extent of my knowledge.) So yeah, 6’4” is about how tall I think he probably is, so you nailed it.

And I’ve always loved the idea of Oralie being tall- I have a good friend who’s about 5’9”, and she reminds me a LOT of Oralie (she’s seriously the extroverted, college student version of Oralie) so I guess that’s where it comes from. But she gives me tall vibes, so 5’9” is what I’ve always thought of for her height.

As for the heels thing, I don’t think she always wears heels that tall. Normally she probably wears heels that are only like an inch or so tall, she just wore those to intimidate Kenric :)

But of course hc whatever you want for their heights, these are just my personal thoughts

If you could make one character a Councillor, who would it be? Whom would you replace?

That’s a hard one, but maybe Dex? It would make sense for the arc of the Lost Cities as a whole, given the whole prejudice against bad matches, and also for Dex’s character arc, what with getting rejected by Sophie, and possibly getting rejected by Biana in the future? There was a scene, I think in Flashback, where it was kind of hinted at that Biana and Dex might like each other, but then in Unlocked it’s officially said that Biana likes Tam. I don’t have super strong feelings either way, I think either couple would be cute, and of course it’s possible I’m reading way too much into this lol. But I doubt Dex and Biana are going to end up together, which sucks for Dex, which is why I think he could be a Councillor.

As far as who I would replace, I’d have to go with Oralie. Her whole situation is honestly super tragic, and I feel like she deserves better than being stuck on the Council indefinitely. She’s sacrificed so much for the good of her world, and I think it would be really meaningful to see her pass the torch to the next generation, especially to the child of a bad match.

It actually baffles me that Keefe and Oralie are like... The only nice Empaths in kotlc. Consider:

Cassius is a horrible father and generally a trainwreck of a human who doesn't seem to have any real feelings but just enjoys holding people (cough his son cough) to ridiculous standards of perfection to make himself look better.

Stina and her mom (Vika I think?) are selfish and stuck up, making them act rude and snobby towards others.

Vespera... She's a twisted, creepy murderer, so there's that.

Am I forgetting anyone?

They can all FEEL other people's emotions, but 4/6 of them refuse to CARE , and I'd really like to know why that is.

one thing you'll never catch me doing is hating on sophie for the way she acted towards oralie. this girl is quite literally the most patient character I've ever seen. it took her like, 8 books to finally snap for a GOOD reason. she had to live for years in the lost cities without knowing who's her biological parents and when she did find out? turns out the person was right infront of her face the whole time.

and now, it's not like she can go around telling people that oralie is her mother because oralie is a councillor and with this news hitting the council and the elven world, it'll cause mayhem- mayhem that's perfect for the neverseen to just swoop in and take everything. oralie's reputation will be ruined. sophie HAS to stay unmatchable for the rest of her life and forkle has the AUDACITY to tell her to wait for a few more hundred years.

Look I hate the matchmaking system, naturally, as we all should. But this scene still made me squeal—especially since Oralie brought up that telepaths and empaths are frequently match together, and both Sophie and Dex’s minds immediately went “so like…..Keefe”

Not “oh Sophie will probably get matched with an empath then.” Just Keefe. Keefe is the answer.
