evil queen celestia for this one, rules with an iron hoof, super corrupt and all that ponies in like the upper class mostly those who live in cities are clueless to this like ahhh our beloved majestic queen can do no wrong she is so loving and poggers<333 while regular on the street lower class ponies are struggling to live theyre being like run dry but no one really has any power at all to do anything about it. no one but princess luna. luna had spent her whole life looking up to her sister in the same way the upper class citizens have but one day her eyes were opened to the squalor and shit that ponies outside of those spheres had to endure and she was outraged. she tried to talk to celestia about it convince her to do something, to Change something! help the poor ponies who were suffering below! but celestia shut her down quickly. so luna, faced with no other choice, began to sneak out under the cover of her dark nights, get to know the common folk, and eventually begin to light the spark of rebellion within them. eventually gaining enough support cobbling together a sort of army of her own and with her at the head a war starts between celestia and luna

flash forward however many years maybe hundreds idk i haven't decided lol maybe like however many moons bc moons are ambiguous lol, but throughout equestria its become unsafe to just Live bc. uknow. theres a fuckin war on. the ponies that live in richer areas are safer, places like canterlot and manehattan are still under celestia's rule and are 'protected' and 'kept safe' under her while everywhere else is dangerous to be, these heavily fortified places are Rife with anti-luna propaganda, to the point where shes only known as nightmare moon and they believe The Princess Was Stolen From Us By A Curse Or Whatever That Turned Her Into A Beast!!! lol

celestia has made life miserable for towns and lower class areas, the places are patrolled by her soldiers and Anyone who shows even a glint of disliking the queen theyre punished or hauled off to jail so luna's ranks wont continue to grow

to combat this, hidden villages im calling 'forts' start popping up where ponies can go to hide and live in relative freedom, places where ponies can be recruited into luna's ranks, or sent back to if theyre wounded and unable to keep up the fight

the mane 6 (except twilight) live in the Sweet Apple Fort, founded by the apple family hidden just on the edge of the everfree forest, its set up right by where ponyville would be, applejack and big mac run the place, dash is the head of the guard, pinkie works under her as one of the scouts to keep eyes on perimeter, fluttershy and rarity work in the infirmary, rarity as a surgeon and fluttershy as a nurse, they take in anyone whos running from celestias forces (ive also for some reason got it in my head thats theres an illness running rampant and fluttershy along w the other nurses are overworked from having to take care of any ponies that catch it while also working for a cure, zecora is the head nurse of sweet apple) also trixie and flim and flam are wandering traders they all know the routes of where all the forts are, they trade goods and also information from place to place, for the right price of course..

twilight at the start of the au lives in fortified canterlot with her parents and spike, shes studying in the hopes to become a high ranking scholar under the queen, and celestia definitely keeps her eye on twilights work/progress

the main base of luna's operation is cloudsdale, a lot of the pegasi fled and left the place pretty much abandoned when the war began, but luna managed to take it over right from under her sisters nose and a lot of pegasi returned to help with the rebellion effort, parts of it have been magically altered to allow non winged ponies to get around the important areas up there (uknow like the runway on the race track in the time travel episode that spike was able to stand on its that lol) many pegasi stayed on the ground to keep supporting the forts that took them in though, hence why dash is still on the ground lol

the crystal empire has been completely cut off from the rest of equestria, the amount of refugees fleeing there to escape the war was getting too much for the kingdom to handle so empress cadence reluctantly was forced to shut it off (but dw her and shining do end up together in a side plot me and a friend hav just come up with >:])

because luna and celestia raise the sun and moon, luna has taken to using having the moon out as a sort of like? calling card i guess? that the rebellion is like on the rise like a We're Winning Kind Of!!! thing to let all of equestria know but celestia twists the meaning of it and uses it against her, like i said the cities are Full of anti-luna propaganda and because when luna is winning she makes it night/brings the moon out, celestia tells her citizens that luna wants to bring about an endless night, and thats sort of how the nightmare moon image comes about

the scenario in my head for the first "scene" i guess goes smth like twilight and spike are out late like at a market and theres a security breach, since canterlot is fortified any unauthorised entry causes the city to go into a tiered lockdown so say the exterior wall is breached, theres like 2 layers of walls and the castle that get shut down, and the market that twilights in is p much on the furthest exterior section so she ends up getting shut out and shes like !!!! UHHH!!! but just as shes like LET ME IN PLEASE PLEASE PLE and sees a form overhead, she sees wings, she sees a horn, what alicorn would need to be sneaking around.. oh shit. thats Nightmare Moon. they make Sudden eye contact and twilight and spike are like AAAAA and BOLT in the opposite direction Away from and out of canterlot

from there i think twilight thinks canterlot is under attack so shes like aw fuck i dont think we can go back there for now lets try and make our way to manehattan but they get completely turned around and end up in the everfree where theyre found by a sweet apple scout(pinkie) and brought back to the fort

twilights stuck at the fort for a while cus she broke her leg in the everfree like a dumbass and has to heal so she has to just sit there like haha im surrounded by nightmare moons forces Thats Fun but then realises that. none of these ponies r under an evil spell or anything theyre all just trying to survive.. :( and then she meets luna and shits it a bit until luna is like... wait i recognise you... and she apologises for scaring her and spike and getting her into this mess etc and twilights like oh. this is. shes just a pony and nightmare moon really is just a lie made up by big celestia lol

twi at first once that scene up top happens is like bro we Have to leave and spike is like. your leg is BROKEN we're staying here until its fixed and.. idk these ponies dont Seem to be under any spell... n eventually twilights like FINE fine but as Soon as my legs fixed we are getting directions to manehattan and fucking Right Off but then yeah eventually shes like oh okay being here is fine actually fuck celestia

Genuine question. I remember back in it’s prime, I tried to get into hs and. Just. Couldn’t. Now I’m a grown up, trying to be an artist. Possibly comic artist. Here’s the q: is home stuck worth reading, simply so I KNOW what it contains? So that I can avoid it’s tropes? I know some comic artists that were into it and they hand wave now. Like, “oh yeah, it was influential. I think it changed comics as a landscape” but then will be like “it sucks!” in the next sentence. So I’m just confused. I really am not... into it story wise? I loved the art, I loved the audio and thought the interactive elements were cool. I just didn’t care about the characters at all. (I got to like. Part 2 of act 5 or something. Everyone said the trolls would make me like it and I just got more confused.) Anyways, all that rambling just to be like: from YOUR perspective, (even if it’s just to avoid its follies?) Should I try and read homestuck? Or can I just read it’s wikia page or whatever and glean what I need to glean? Anyways. it’s entirely up to you because homestuck is one of the (if not THE) longest web comics ever, when people say it sucks theyre mostly referring to the parts of homestuck that made it “problematic” (again hate using that word but u know what i mean) and also that in some parts the plot was dragged out or barely readable bc a lot of the comic is written in a way to waste time inbetween major plot points, similar to a filler episode of a show except if you skip these parts u often miss like . hints to future events between the paragraphs of nonsensical bullshit, Personally when i say it changed the comic landscape i mean that it literally did that, it was the first of its kind to he both interactive, with video mixing, an entire sound track over its whole run time as well as in the very early days (i was not a fan / knew about it for the earliest days) ppl got to essentially vote in what they wanted to happen within the story, hs also took the unique approach of using classes, blood types, and the zodiac and using these things to make multiple personality slots for characters etc etc, it’s kinda impossible to write anything that homestuck hasn’t referenced (which is why a long running gag on here and other social media was ‘haha is that a hs reference’ when talking about anything) so i wouldn’t worry about trying to avoid things EXCEPT for the zodiac as groups bc that’s pretty much become synonymous with hs, it’s definitely confusing to read for first time readers and was way easier to keep up with as it was coming out bc like o said the plot spans over a decade and has over 100 characters and side plots etc etc it’s really convoluted but the tldr is four kids play a game that ends the world and they need help from aliens to set things straight, if u really wanted theirs a bunch of hs explained videos where u could just like . skim it and basically get the same exact experience, another thing about hs is for it’s time it had a pretty big cast of lgbt characters which at the time made it uknow “representation” though hussie still sucks and has been homophobic before i think a lot of ppl latched to hs for so many reasons and eh i don’t know where i’m going with this anymore sooooo um well i’m if u have a more specific question know!

jasper taught james everything he knows, from royal etiquette, playing soccer, pulling apart and fixing things, how to read properly to discovering his love for puzzles and numbers, the art of flirting ( which came naturally ), exquisite music taste. he was more of a father to jim than his actual father was, and to this day he loves the man to death.

as much as jasper made things fun while learning, his parents were too old fashioned and were rather mean in their teaching ways. during homeschooling, if they were home they would come in and if he was slumping over, they would dig their knee into his back and roll his shoulders back to sit him up straight. or belittling him when he’d forget which fork to use, or wouldn’t ace a test. they were strict, and expected too much from him. needless to say, they filled that emptiness inside of jim where his parent’s affection should have been with presents, so his love for luxury and indulgence came from there.

cliche, but once jim got old enough and was made/allowed to attend the private high school instead of finishing off with homeschooling, he rebelled. he would sneak out of the palace late at night and go drinking with the boys, or skip class to smoke behind the gym. making out with the girls and the guys at the lookout and being the main attraction at the parties. he obviously got a lot of attention, got everything he wanted at home and at school and he thrived.

he’d show up to royal gala’s or public events where he needed to be the prince, not james still drunk or hungover and needless to say there were many screaming matches between him and his parents, all of which made him not want the throne even more. harold and anneliese came to think that it was just a phase that would die out after he was bored with rebellion, so they organised college in america for him.

well, they shouldn’t have done that!

THEY FUCKED UP.

his parents thought that jim would grow bored and sharpen up by spending time away from home and in america, but they were so wrong. james was in his fucking element, partying every night, breaking into buildings for the sake of it, drink driving ( ouch ), rocking out to 80s rock, stick and poke tattoos, sleeping with whoever whenever. there was no slowing down for this prince.

he’s slept with so many people like wow, he’s my biggest hoe and we thought troy was a hoe. wow. he got nothing on this bastard. he would use his title to get him laid a lot of the time. women and men. jim would do the deed, and the second he was finished, he clean up and leave without a word. he was a hump and dumper and if he saw them again, he would act as if he didn’t remember them ( half of the time he probably didn’t ) or would even go to the extent of ‘ugh you’re in my face go away’. nasty nasty.

that was until he met his lovely, beautiful wife genevieve. this bih didn’t give into his charm and that was hot but frustrating so you know, he was in for a challenge and even to this day when is eve not a challenge? lmao no. but honestly, meeting and falling in love with gen was not what jim expected, but man did he fall head over heels. he is a whipped mofo and to this day, still is. gen could say jump and he wouldn’t even ask how high, he’d just do it. maybe probs asks how high atm considering the affair but that’s another story for another day!!

he knew he didn’t want to go back to genovia to learn to be king, but when eve came to him and told him he was pregnant, that was that. his parents didn’t approve of eve, and there was no way they would allow it to happen and with that, james disowned himself from the family or firm as he likes to call it now. sacrificed the throne for the love of his life and family and moved permanently to america.

it is a decision he thinks about often, but he honestly cannot imagine his life any other way and with anyone else by his side. his family is everything to him, and he vowed he would not be like his parents. he wanted his kids to have a proper childhood while still involuntarily enforcing manners, etc and his high standards. but most importantly, he just wants his kids to be happy and healthy and will support them with whatever that may, even if he doesn’t quite agree.

moving to ashcroft was a compromise between gen and him, and tbh he loves it. a short drive to boston with a small town vibe, the only problem is, it’s a small town. everybody hears everybody hence why he keeps his old self locked away, no one knows his past other than gen. wbk gen knows everything ok they inlove kahfkasg

CONNECTIONS.

best friend ( 0/1 ): this is someone jim has known either since college, or even after he moved to ashcroft but they do not know he is a crown prince. they have bro/sis or bro/bro relationship and stick together through everything, but this can be plotted. this is also a confidant, js!

clients ( 0/x ): these this has to do with your muses finances and things like that so i’m sure we can come up with something.

enemies ( 0/x ): one of these is the person gen had an affair with, but this can be somebody he had a disagreement with over their finances, maybe they have different opinions and tend to clash heads, or someone that he’s slept with in the past that he humped and dumped? possibilities are endless.

kids friends/kids relations ( 0/x ): there are obvs a lot of ppl that the huntz kids know or are friends with, but lets talk abt it! how do they know his kids? does jim like them? did they spend a lot of time at his house? did he have to crash their party to drag one of the three home? you tell me.

golf buddies ( 0/2-3 ): ppl that he plays golf with pls and thank u. i feel he likes his golf so lets do it, who else plays golf? go play with dear jim and he’s shout some alcohol.

fix my car ( 0/x ): jim still likes to play around with cars and defs can do a backyard service or repair job on your car, so maybe this is someone that he does this for and they sit and chat with a drink after?

quick rant

(its about my life not studyblr lmao just a heads up)

we’re like three weeks (that with all the troubles and stuff its like, a week and a half) and we’re ALREADY being pushed with The Project(tm) and tbh im dsfjdshhjksdfjs A MESS bc !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this year the project it’s a lot more complicated (it gets like that over the years but this year its So Much More) and like we already have the schedule for all the year and !!! AND like we have to do it in groups right? and they let us choose our own groups but NOW they limited us to people in the same class!!!!!!!!!!!! like, the same automatización class!!!!!!!!!1 (we call them workshops) sO i am lucky enough to be with two friends of mine but then there’s a boy from our class too that we’re (at least me) not Friends with and

like it’s not really a problem

but then again I FORGOT HOW MUCH I HATE WORKING IN GROUPS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or at least i never Never worked with competent people like !!!!!!!!!! cmon you can put a little bit more effort, it won’t harm you uknow? and like, there should be a another girl in the group but then my two friends decided that she’s annoying and they don’t want her ??? and like ok it’s a group matter and i respect what you think but !! at least you should show some interest in the project AT ALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

maybe im too perfectionist or whatever when it comes to these things, or maybe im right and theyre incompetent, but I HATE WORKING IN GROUPS I HATE HAVING TO HAVE (?) PATIENCE IN FREAKING EVERYTHING WITH THEM BC THEY DONT CARE/UNDERSTAND ANYTHING FFS JUST !!!!!!!!!! The Uknowing Know-It-All

You’ve seen your fair share of know-it-alls, whether it’s that one kid in history who knows all about the Great Battle of Whatever-the-Hell-it-Was in Whenever-the-Hell-it-Was, or that kid who knows all about pulleys, levers, and gears in your engineering class, or that one blonde-haired kid with glasses in “The Polar Express” who just knew everything.

Yeah, that kid.

But what about the other ones? The ones that do well in all their classes without that special spike in any particular subject to go above and beyond with? The ones that don’t place in the academic decathlons or participate in all of those extracurriculars? The ones that want to go to college, but have no real direction as to where they want to go, why they want to go? The ones that are still working hard for a future they aren’t sure they want to have? The unknowing know-it-alls?

For the sake of my sanity, I hope at least one of you out there can relate. Chances are, learning new things isn’t that difficult for you. You get a lesson, a fact, a concept, and it just goes click! You’ve never really struggled in anything, you put in all of the work, and you get all the grades, but nothing has yet to completely fascinate you enough to make you want to excel with it.

College seems like a necessity. After all, thanks to our schools, educational TV shows, pamphlets, orientations, and maybe our own family members and friends, it’s been hardwired into our new-generation brains that our goal is to grow up, get a good education to get into a good college to get a good job to get a nice house to support your significant other and your kids, even after you’ve gone. But it kind of sucks if you don’t have any plan to do that, or if you don’t even really want to at all.

But you’re smart and bright, you’ve got nothing to worry about! You’ll get into whatever college you want, you’ll figure it all out.

Right?

I don’t know. Maybe it’s just me, but there’s something about it all that just doesn’t feel right about it all. To coast through everything on autopilot, doing what works best for you and your skills isn’t ideal for everyone. What about passion and drive? You know, that thing that makes you want to do this or do that?

Or maybe you’ve found that. Maybe you’ve found something that you’ve got a real knack for and you really enjoy doing it! The only problem is, what if it’s something that doesn’t get you into college? Or bring in the big bucks? The perfect house with the picket fence or the stylish brick apartment with a beautiful view of the New York City skyline that you always dreamed of having, you can kiss them all goodbye, simply because you’ve got the talent for something that doesn’t fit into the standard issue How to Grow Up Guide.

If you were hoping for some sure answers as to what to do, I’m sorry to say I don’t have them and I’m pretty much in the same boat as you. But if I can tell you anything, find a way to do what makes you happy. Keep your options open and keep utilizing the amazing skills you’ve been gifted or have worked to obtain. Maybe something will still come along that’ll tug you in the right direction, or maybe you’ll forge your own path with the things that drive you, no matter how unconventional they may be. Forget about the ever looming Must-Have Future, because whether you grow up to have whatever it is that you’ve always dreamed of having or not, you’ll be okay.
