hello anon 💜 first up, i noticed you sent this to a few people and i just want to say thank you on behalf of everyone for getting behind writers and asking about their projects! that's really sweet of you and i know most people love talking about their writing so i'm sure you made a lot of people happy with this initiative :) using the anon function for good!

storytime but i have really been struggling with writing the last couple of months, mostly because i've been crazy busy with work (actually performing weirdly well but fuck capitalism) and social stuff. it's finally starting to quiet down - i think next weekend is the first weekend with free time since christmas, so i'm super keen to just...chill. maybe then i can actually work on writing!

as for wips...i have many but only a couple i'm actively working on right now.

Eurotrip (aka. When in Rome) - RWRB. i really wanted to finish this before may, but it's going super slow. I'm currently writing chapter 8 or 17, and my aim is to write at least 10 (but probably more like 14) chapters prior to posting. i'm really proud of myself for not giving up on this one because it's a mammoth and i started writing it in...2021 :/ but there's still a long way to go. i have art by @stardisnight to go with it, so that gives me precious motivation. also, the timeline of this fic vaguely resembles a lone star season right now so i need to work that out before i post.

Call Me (By My Name) - Lone Star. a co-write with @rmd-writes, it's just chugging along but as per usual we put no expectations on ourselves so there is no real timeline for completion.

10 Things I Hate About You AU (aka. Not Now But Soon) - Lone Star. i keep thinking about this and not writing it, but every now and then i get a strike of inspiration and go back and add to the doc. i actually DNF'd this ages ago, but i keep going back to it, so hopefully it gets done before the new season airs.

The Ring In 2.0 - Lone Star. calling this a wip because technically i have about 3k in the doc, but i swore myself off starting this before eurotrip is finished. i'm chomping at the bit though, the original ring-in was one of the easiest fics for me to write because it's so silly and fun and the chat with @dustratcentral is everything to me.

A Random Idea I Got From A Writing Prompt and I Pitched to @celeritas2997 - Lone Star. okay. hear me out. it could be short. 10k MAX. i have time for this. i promise. it's an austin au with a super stupid premise and i just. think. it. would. be. funny!!!! let me live. take me back to the ring in days where i didn't have any expectations of myself.

Hey um. I'm not sure if you still draw that stuff because I just found your blog BUT ... your fiddauthor art and specifically like the consistent undertones of transness and gayness bring me a lot of very intense joy. Giddiness. Jovial whimsy if you will. Like idk how to describe it but the way you draw is just very cozy and comforting and FE E LS very queer-inforned with every stroke, idk if thats weird??? An d I love how your comics just REALLY emulate the gravity falls style of humor, like ford needing to learn "something about the soviet union" and the singular sock getting permanantly lost in the bottomless pit while everything else comes back up like. Stuff like that is so distinctly gravity falls and it also makes me cozy and happy. The way you write and represent fidds and fords relationship feels so tangible and realistic and also its all just. man thank you. I do still create gf/fiddauthor stuff quite a bit as, other than original work, that's the main thing I enjoy drawing, but I've actually been in a really terrible art rut lately so this was a very well timed message :] I suppose all of my art has trans and queer undertones due to... my Being transgender and queer/bisexual. I find art is cooler and more interesting if you are disgustingly indulgent with it, and gravity falls is a very good canvas for me in that respect.

I'm also glad to hear you think I'm good at emulating gravity falls' comedic style! I do make an active attempt at that with stuff like ad astra per aspera (my big ol' comic) but also I feel like a lot of it is subconscious... due to having seen the show more times than I can count... even if I have my own comedic style now I think even non-gf projects of mine in the future will probably feel a little influenced by it because of how foundational it was to my sense of humor and story writing as a whole. hopefully in a good way!

but yeah I will continue to make my weird transgender art about this show, probably for a very long time as it continues to make me happy :J and I'm always glad to hear it continues to make other people happy as well!

PALISADE 28.crazy good this week etc

New radio person for the intro...! This comes at a good moment. I still miss Baldwin Home like. That very first PALISADE intro is genuinely so hard to beat... but this feels good. I'm once again thinking about Austin writing these... The style used for Black Screens intros obviously shines through (she's his protégé) but she does have her own voice already (way more rhyming? I mean, I'd have to doublecheck HIS intros, it's literally just a feeling). Just the tone used and intonation already does a lot. Austin is so good at this fr. I'm still curious how he even approaches that. Also the "watch me unloose 80 Ls on these next lines" I knewwww that's 80 Ls for real as soon as Parti said illogical. I wonder if he wrote that bit first trying to see how many Ls he could fit in there & then finetuned it to get to a good number? I guess that's just how I would do it.

(who knows if we'll ever get a description for Parti. we never did for Black. maybe if she shows up in a conflict turn somehow? so im just fuckin around for now... i haven't sold myself on the clothes. i'm just not a fashion guy. but i do like the braids)

Oh & new guy alert part 2!!! New Keith character! And he has a funny hat. Not even funny as in goofy it just makes me laugh a bit because my dad and maybe every 5th 70+ y/o man I see has a hat like that. Love the sequin poncho.

(btw I am almost certain Keith has posted a picture of that teapot on Cohost before... He posts about tea sometimes so there's at least a chance. I mean the description of the coloring he gives is actually pretty good IMO, you can work with that, but I as an artist I like to have a visual reference. EDIT: someone just asked him. thank you keith and also rosecrest)

I have the. I got Armor Astir & a lot of the playbooks other people made in a bundle a while back and I'm real torn if I should just look at the Investigator because I'm really curious. But. I also love to be surprised. So I probably won't, but it's good to know I COULD, if I wanted to. Anyways, I was pretty sure it'd be another B-Plot character too, just because it makes sense. Brnine COULD go alone on a B-Plot, I guess, but it's more fun with 2 groups to jump between, surely. Though this means the Eclectic-Brnine dynamic is crucial! I hope they can meet up soon... But yeah I just really am gonna miss Phrygian backing them up and cheering and clapping and asking questions. They were so fun together... A great team :' (

ok so I wrote everything else about Eclectic down yesterday & then noted down "vibes?" as break between paragraphs because all I had at that point was the description & I wanted to get back to this. And ooohhh my god the vibes are fucking immaculate right off the bat I'm having a hard time to not Already be obsessed with this guy he's SO funny conceptually and it KEPT getting better... Truly delighted with this new type of guy (& Keith is doing a voice!). And I fucking love the hooks. Truly so great to me. The thought of these getting loosened OR deepened is already really really good. "Leap says"..... oh it's SO funny I keep laughing to myself

And I'm VERY excited it's a delegate like genuinely so happy. I was mourning the loss of a branched onscreen (okay.I still am) but this does make it worth it. Ever since they got introduced basically I so badly wanted to know anything more about them, but especially what Austin mentioned in the episode itself: the delegates relationships to the divines they are made from & of course the divines themselves (who are alive!!! Apparently that was already written in a dossier way back when, but I rarely read those). That has me sooo excited.

Oh and the like... I only thought about this just now but the connection there to Thisbe's new project is. That's gotta be something! "The divine who's being held captive somewhere on this planet, and has been tortured for millennia" hearing a message of... That this can end & rest is possible and it's SO CLOSE? But does that just make it worse... Ohhhhh. Yeah this rules. What a great idea.

That project generally is really... god, I love Thisbe so much. I love how Janine talks about her and what she thinks and why she does what she does. Thisbe's relationship to work and being a tool and of use is so interesting to put here, with the divines wanting to rest. (And Janine saying something like... Thisbe thinks of herself in relation to divines how Mow is to her? Kind of?) And saying it seems so solitary a project... every divine should know about it. Every divine deserves the right to rest. But it's also a call to action of sorts when she talks about like... "shouldn't you want to protect this?" I think her "Fighting is not my purpose, but there is nowhere else for me until the fighting is over." hook could be in conservation here too... Also I'm just looking forward for Thisbe to Broadcast again. It was like, one of her things in PARTIZAN. I really liked her & Cori working on this together with the. Experience they just had behind them. Sylvi & Janine reading the hooks for each others characters kind of sheepishly was soooo funny "I forgot how bitchy this was!". That's good stuff to me. (as an aside: god, Thisbe has always had good as hell hooks/beliefs/whatever else. Remember "Operant Broun lies to me because they believe I am a person."? Banger. ) I also love that she thought of this/about this at the rib(?) of Barricade. Barricade as an axiom who had this close (& good, protective) relationship with another axiom...

btw now that Leap is NOT coming back I do miss him a bit. Mostly out of principle like I am So happy we have Eclectic but Leap is my guy.... shoutout to him... being a bitch bastard pirate out there in space... + shoutout to Figure A too always : ) (speaking of, on the Gathering Information Extra bit from today he talked about if he had played Leap, picking a class that also had like, a crew, and I'm mostly just really curious who that would've been. I would love for Keith to make up some funny guys for Leap to order around. I wonder if Eclectic or an Eclectic type would've been on that?)

(Also Leap investigating Motion. Ok. To ME it's at least partly bc this was so important to Millie. And he has reason to be concerned generally he fought Motion too but. That's MILLIE'S rival! And it doesn't even have to be at the front of his mind when he does this. Maybe it isn't. But it's real & it's something to remember her by through actual action. Because he's not the sentimental type.Do you get me.?)

Brnine talk show. This was sooo good. After they joked about it in PAL25 too. I recognized the hosts name, but wasn't quite sure from where until I read the dossier - of course he's that guy from the podcast. God. I have got to relisten to that sometime... I remember Ali on one of the recent Gathering Information ep (the one w/ Austin on, I think) mentioning a conversation that was like. stressful to do. and then also to listen to? (since she has to for production/editing) and I figured it would be another Gucci-type talk but ooohh my god. This was sooo. EDIT: ACTUALLY what if it wasn't even. What if it's about to be this talk with Rye edit: GALLICA i cant believe noone called me on this. mixing my elects up. rye is the one gur killed (mvp). Austin was sounding a bit ominous about it at the end of this episode! HUGE shoutouts to Ali again she is just absolutely killing it this season for real... And I honestly feel like overall Brnine was, considering the situation, doing very well. Genuinely. You're feverish and hollowblooded and have this fucking. Guy needling you & asking the stupidest questions... & like. "You made Kalmeria. They'd never let you rot in jail." of courseeee they want Brnine working for them. They're so GOOD at what they do. They messed with the parts of A Fucking Divine. . I just had a scary thought and it involved Mustard Red. But. Surely not. Nooo. I'm shaking my head. However Arbitrage? An Arbitrage deal (like they tried to make them take before) would work just perfectly for this, wouldn't it...

When Austin mentioned Grand Mag in that vision Cori had I thought something like 'man. sucks to be him : (' but like. In a genuine way. "I can't stop it from hurting people a little"........... Hah oh wow I just thought of this but I am so excited for people who haven't listened to TM to meet him now. He's not even my favourite he just makes me crazy in a way almost no other character does? Like there's something so WRONG with him. And there's things wrong with a lot of FatT characters but it's like... Well. Grand Magnificent.

I love the thought of them watching Brnines interview at the next movie night (POOR BRNINE.) but I also want to know what Eclectic would pick for movie night. Oh and Partial too. Though he may not be staying I would still really love to know. Partial coming on board for the mission has me intrigued generally.

Oh and Gur talking! Even if just a little. I still feel so bad for them. "I believe in whispers in ears"... and they have reason to now. Figure is a person trying their best to do good & make changes, which is what Gur wants. I just wish they weren't a specter haunting someone elses body & what even happens when Figure rolls a 10+. Is Gur still there and Figure just stops seeing him? oohh it hurts a bit.you can't do this to him you can't (related: I extremely forgot about the other specters and ghosts and ghouls and whatnot that Figure can also see. It's not just my friend Gur Sevraq. Looking forward to hear more about that & how it affects Figure so much as to roll with disadvantage!)

Love to learn just a little more about devotion. I really need to just relisten to that again & think about it a bit harder.

[INTERVIEW] Kai - 230314 UPROXX: “Kai Doesn’t Care What You Think, ‘Rover’ Is His Reminder To Live Life Freely”

"When Kai debuted with EXO 11 years ago, he was already a fan favorite. His teaser featured him smoothly dancing across a puddle of water to the group’s jazz pop track “My Lady.” From then on, Kai, whose real name is Kim Jongin, became one of the attractors and magnets for potential EXO-Ls to be.

With a massive discography and awards accrued over the last decade with EXO (and SuperM), it was only November 2020 when Kai unraveled his own world to the masses and proved how much of an ace he is. With his debut single “Mmmh,” the EXO member checked off every tick on what it meant to be a whole package — and be rightfully called “Idol’s Idol:” a catchy R&B ear worm that’s easy to sing along; sexy, jaw-dropping choreography that went viral; and looks (including a jawline so sharp) that could kill from a glance.

His title as Asia’s First Love only continued to grow when he followed up with “Peaches” (2021), a poetic R&B serenade that highlighted his romantic side.

Fast forward to today (March 13), Kai unleashes the wild side of him in his upbeat, Latin-inspired single “Rover” off his third EP of the same title. Last week, we caught up with Kai to discuss his new project, and his success as a soloist and member of EXO.

We obviously think of a car when we hear “Rover.” But how would you interpret that?

Kai: “Rover” is about not caring about what people think or say. It’s about just going your way freely as a wanderer. But that is also the whole album overall. It’s also about social media as well. A lot of different people see what you post and it’s a place where a judgment or opinion could actually be easily made. There are possibilities you could also be jealous of someone, or look up to someone when you’re on social media. But it’s more about not caring about all those different perspectives, or those gazes at all. And it’s a message of just think free, so the message that’s here I think is let’s be free.

I have a lot of messages to share to the world but whoever interprets it or whoever sees it, are free to interpret it individually since it’s different for each person. But regardless, I want to say that I’m just going to do whatever I want to do, what I like to do, and just spread the message of freedom and show that I’m doing what I want to do and what I like.

It’s such a switch from your last two singles, what did you think when you first heard it?

Kai: The first impression for “Rover” was very good. I thought the melody and rhythm meshed well and was very addictive. The song has a nice rhythm that’s very fun and easy to dance to. And while preparing for “Rover,” I was excited knowing I can focus on showing a new side of myself.

Are you aware of your virality every time you make a comeback?

Kai: Well, actually I don’t focus on that that much. Nor do I feel it that much because it’s a fight with myself because of how time is actually limited. We only have 24 hours a day and there’s a lot of good that I want to do and show to my fans. But other than focusing on the virality that I bring or the popularity that I have, I do have a little bit of pressure to focus on making something good

In “Mmmh” it was the choreography, then “Peaches” the detail that went viral was when you twirled one of your dancer’s hair. What do you predict would be the viral moment for “Rover?”

Kai: I could honestly say that out of all the dances or choreography that I’ve done, this one was very much difficult. But difficulty [for me] is shown in a cool way, or I hope so. So I’m not going to be able to choose just one part because I like everything.

Actually, I’m actually looking forward to what the people, fans, and listeners would choose as the viral moment or the killing part of the song. So, I really wish and hope that people could choose for me.

Any behind-the-scenes moments you want to talk about in this album?

Kai: Particularly, I do like the track “Bomba.” It’s one of my b-side tracks for this album and one of the tracks that I actually considered as the lead single for my second album,Peaches — between “Peaches” and “Bomba.”

Especially for this album, rather than focusing on what others would like to see from me, I mainly focused on what I like and what I would like to show. As I was really enjoying that thought in the production process, I couldn’t even think about any difficulties. I think my third album is more of a result of the experiences that I had with my first and second albums. So if it weren’t for my first and second albums, I think that my third album wouldn’t be possible. And I think when I was shooting the song, preparing the album itself, I tried to be more bold and unique with the choices that I make and I tried to work on that.

Do you feel any pressure still, as you make these comebacks?

Kai: Sometimes. I did have some pressure creating this album because I really want to showcase a new and different side to my fans. However, all of that pressure was released in the process of this album, while also preparing for it.

I always want to do better and show the best to my fans. I try my best not to think too deeply about it because I ultimately want to solely focus on the stage. Because when I start thinking too deeply into things, then I won’t be able to concentrate and fully show my 100 percent.

Have you found any stark differences or discoveries about yourself as a soloist and you as a member of EXO?

Kai: Well, yes there are differences to this actually. So, when I’m in the group — as a member of EXO, I feel more comfortable because we’re able to share this pressure that we feel altogether. I tend to rely more on the members than relying on myself. And it’s also that I really do enjoy and like being in EXO when in a group altogether. Because there’s EXO, I exist. Because of EXO, there’s Kai.

But even as a soloist, it’s very fun. I enjoy it as well since it’s only about me doing well, and me doing the best that I could do. It can be comfortable in those terms, but sincerely do enjoy both. Because, once again, I think Kai exists because of EXO.

What’s the biggest thing you’ve learned as a soloist?

Kai: As a soloist, I’m honestly very satisfied to where I’m at but I still can feel that I really, and truly, miss my members, especially those who enlisted. I’m really looking forward to the album that we will release as EXO altogether.

I could say that I realized I still do lack a lot of skills, and I have a lot to improve on still. And since I had my members while doing a lot of different activities with EXO, I was able to share the pressure. As a soloist, all the pressure is on me. Everything really depends on how I show my performance, and how the outcome is done by me. I really came to realize that I have to do my best and do better.

And, this is actually not directed to me being a soloist but, one really big learning that I realized these days is that time is special.

One thing the world doesn’t know that Kai wants to share.

Kai: Actually, I really don’t know who I am still and I think it’s kind of definite for the world not to know fully about me too. It’s more so that the images that I show as a member of EXO and Kai are very different from who I am as a person.

And you know, the fans do know that you know on stage, I’m charismatic and you know pretty much cool but that I’m a bit different off stage but I could say that not a lot of people know this because you know I may seem a bit you know charismatic on stage and cool but I’m actually a pure and kind person and yeah that’s about it for the first question.

Anything else you’d like to say?

I actually went to go eat Kaljebi which is a mix of Kalguksu (hand-pulled noodles) and sujebi (flattened hand-pulled noodles, and that was my favorite place to go eat."

mixiku_: the montage is good, the shots are pretty, the plot is interesting, and the animation is amazing. love the character, its always cool when the author is telling you a two-level story.

kaboodle: kab kab kaboodle she s so good in what shes doing i love it. her video is awesome, and this is not an exception, i loved gaslighting, a very important skill on the minecraft smp. also: love splitapart!kaboodle, it would be very interesting to write about lifesteal!kaboodle with such a background.

manepear: had a strange ambiguous dynamic with his teammate on levels, definitely suitable for ls. /joke

i had watched his "deleting netherite" video before and loved it so much – the way he built the story really hooked me up. his application video is also good. very funny as manepear being paranoid for 30 minutes for clown to just say "man i have nothing against you we are teammates bruh".

salem: i like this man's storytelling. he seems very interesting. dont know how hed be in a more lore-y environment, but definitely worth trying.

burssty: an exemplary video. funny, not too repetitive, with interesting visuals and a good pace. not surprisingly felt like watching hbg bac streams in a most positive way. just very good video in general, she is so good in this, and id like to see her more now. low tps slowing down the world feels like such a great lore concept, i should think about it more.

pheeabee: they did great! united people, gathered info and fought against a common enemy. i loved the video and how it was made and she seems to be a really cool person to have on a server. also, i remember them from levelz and really liked her playstyle there. and they are a streamer! bonus points!

winsweep: i have no idea how this man wants to be on four (?) servers at the same time, but i need to know what he will do in lifesteal enviroment. he seems to suit the ls so well: streamer, good fighter and man of the lore. his showtime lore is little messy, but very lovely and violent, one of my obvious favorites. application itself is very funny, lightheaded, and committed at the same time. its just a great video, albeit not quite smp content.

kantje: yipeeeee main showtime loreboy made an application! big fan of his lore and plot in general, he is so considerate with it. his video is a 2.0 cut, and 2.0 is very good, albeit, i think, a little strange without context. as a streamer, kantje is very good. also: hi mark bormethius go and commit all possible crimes good luck!! 

tjthings: tj is a very sudden here for me, but his video and dedication are very nice. and he is a streamer. very productive one. id like to see it.

allrich: bro finally came back home with milk! great and very funny video. awesome way to frame nations event. loved every moment.

dumb: wow. this is. wow. storytelling is so good. like. i mean. wow. i really have no words.

arcn: a very well-thought-out story with a good balance between action and melancholic breaks. and: streams.

i love ryan's video so much, but i think he doesnt count since it was published before apps were announced.

stevelocks does some insane things in his adventure map. so cool!

asgardz made a really interesting work playing in the bedrock realm. plot is a little inconsistent and dsmp exile inspo is noticable, but i def see the vision.

sharooh video left a big impression on me with beautiful music and cool shots.

scrawsy: there is nothing new in concept of making a cool team through trials, but the way he did and brought it is cool and very entertaining.

kirbs428: hi funny man from split apart! veeeery cool visuals. love them so much. and a lot of violence never hurts (haha).

i looved falconu's video. at this point, i saw so many povs of this war, but he did great.

Oh hi for the love of god hello!!!

This is Samaela. My babygirl. I desperately wish I had more recent art of her to share, but alas I don't. A quick scroll through my blog also shows that Most of the posts I've made talking about her are also a few years old and outdated at this point but rest assured I think about her Constantly.

Samaela is a World of Warcraft OC, and also one of my oldest OCs in general regardless of fandom/universe. Long story short, she's a Forsaken hunter with little to no memory of her past life but Vivid memory of her death (by werewolf) and a history of making bad decisions in the name of Living Deliciously.

She was resurrected post Death By Werewolf, and the process caused her to Become Werewolf. Sorta. She's a weird little fiend and an abomination even by undead standards, which leads to her necromancer running All Sorts of Tests and Experiements. Now those aren't as bad or nefarious as they sound, really, but Samaela gets tired of being a science project pretty quick, so she moves as far away from her necromancer as she can, makes a few friends and enters a 2-ish year long situationship with her Boybestfriend, during which she indulges in many bad habits such as hunting living humans for sport and eating them, which garners her a reputation for being vicious and needlessly cruel. This leads to a sleuth of Decisions which eventually end up putting the life of someone at risk, someone Very Important to her Boybestfriend, and once he finds out their relationship cracks even more. She jumps to anger and resentment straight on and continues to push people away and make more Choices, until her own life is put at risk and she's forced to rethink.

Currently she's at this rethinking stage. She doesn't regret most of the things she did, but she regrets the things that affected her personally. Empathy is a hard concept for her to grasp, but she's willing to make an effort for her own sake. At her core she still wants to survive above all else, and if that means letting people help her..... well, she doesn't like it but she'll think about it.

Samaela is Difficult, and she will never not be. She needs a strong support system to help her, but unfortunately the mere thought of letting her walls down and being vulnerable makes her sick. She is hard to get along with and harder to like.... but a handful of people have gone through the effort it takes to love her all the same. That's enough for now to keep her from spiraling more, but her fate is very uncertain. She has many amends to make and she's not exactly willing to make all of them, but her self preservation instinct is so strong it might as well push her in that direction even if just to keep herself alive.

Despite her many Ls she has many Ws. Women want her. Men fear her. She fucks hard and nasty. She makes dioramas in her spare time. She is surprisingly good at keeping people safe. She likes the color green so much she always has at least One green acessory on her at all times. She's not very good at swimming but still loves the beach. She has a gender that can be best described as Indescribable. Woman, but watch out. As for her previous life.... well that's a whole other mess. All I'll say is that she has two living siblings, one who hasn't given up looking for her, but neither one would recognize her now, and it's unlikely she'd recognize them either. She barely remembers enough about her human life to know her name, much less about her family.

mikasa and i are the epitome of friends to lovers. i don’t see her being the type to just get into relationships or start dating on the fly, she likes to know a person first. we meet through a mutual friend, probably armin, who says he thinks we’d get along and we exchange contact info to be nice. it’s kinda awkward at first since she isn’t the most talkative person and i am and if i think someone isn’t into a conversation i’ll drop it because i don’t wanna force it if someone ain’t feeling like talking. but i make a joke after seeing an exchange between armin and some poor soul triggering his sassy scorpio ass about how “we really can’t judge a book by its cover, armin be putting people in body bags i swear” and she laughs and starts telling me stories from their high school days where his pettiness really unlocked

friendship comes naturally from that with us talking quite frequently through text and we’ll end up planning to go to bookstores together and so on and so forth. i ask her out and because i don’t do ‘dinner dates’ for a first date, i ask how she feels about a couple’s cooking class for a date. the rest is history

mitsuya my beloved who i met by virtue of me seeing him looking fine as hell across the way. i fell first, he fell harder definitely because his voice sounds like liquid gold to me and he is such a pretty boy. i volunteered as tribute to be a model for one of his projects even though i hate that type of thing but it was just the excuse i needed to hang out and segue into some sort of friendship because i’ll be damned if we ain’t at least friends. when i need a break from the tired college life and he needs a break from work or being the best brother in the world, we hang out

he beats me to asking him on a date and i get strangely competitive after he asks by mentioning i wanted to ask him on one first and i insist we play rock paper scissors to see who gets to ask who first. he wins because he cheated by kissing me. i’ll get back his ass eventually but i enjoyed the kiss while we were having it

chigiri is another one that takes a while after meeting. in my mind, we both went to go see a movie and we were the only ones in the theatre and the movie was so bad we started complaining and those complaints started bouncing off each other as jokes and we decided to sit next to each other and complain about the movie proper. it takes a while for us to get together though because... i don’t take Ls that are preventable. i don’t confess to anyone that i don’t think there’s a good 50/50 to 60/40 chance they like me back. vulnerability? nope.

Yeah, that's an issue with any big ship though, people project their own ideas onto it or self insert and play out their fantasies, which like, y'all do y'all. But idk it's why I don't read very much in the fandom, or in any fandom for that matter. (That and my #adhd~) I'm particular about a lot of things, and hot take, but many popular fanfics (just in general, not just ML) aren't written well imo. And that's not directed at any one person, so don't go looking for shit 🙄 There are good fan writers out there, don't get me wrong, but very few "popular" fanworks really grab me. (Especially that one bitch that wrote that story where Marinette transfers schools and meets new friends that got way too popular for some reason) The same can be said in real life too though. The things that are the best quality aren't always the most popular. Idk taste is subjective I guess.

Idk where I'm going with this ramble, my brain is fried from staring at my resume all morning and trying to figure out how the fuck to sell myself to a panel of smart people, but anyway, yeah there are a lot of bad LS stories out there. Roasting veggies. Starting my moms table project. The dope science center for Jamis’ day camp. Lilith bonding with the large pony we have taken in. It’s been a good and much needed day off.

After dropping the kids, I met up with a girlfriend I’ve been remiss about keeping up with. We walked a trail at a local park then grabbed coffee - never underestimate how much good just being outside, getting some physical exercise and a gab with a fabulous friend can be. We are going to go again next week and I hope this develops into a routine event.

Over the weekend I met up for brunch with another relationship I’m working on. It’s a mom friend, and actually Ls besties mom. We really hit it off and have so much in common. We’ve had 2 play dates, 2 meet ups sans kids, and it’s really nice to have someone the same age as me, career oriented with a young kid - let me just tell you, here in the south, the woman start having kids at 20, married just out of high school, and while that is lovely for those that works for - that’s not me. So when we started chatting, it’s been a way to connect with that part of my life.

Most of my mom friends are older, had kids younger, or the moms in my kids classes are 10 years younger, even stay at home moms, all beautiful paths, I always felt lonely though. I moved to the ‘city’, married older, was married 7 years before kids, went back to school, travelled, and my track has been different. It felt like spotting a unicorn in the wild when we found each other. It’s been an unexpected boon at this point in my life.

This friend group, and I do feel a deep kinship with my mutuals, is and has been such a treasure. This is a safe space, where I have found people on all walks of life, that have real life experiences, and are genuine. Okay, after having some time to sit with it, I have come to the conclusion that I have no fucking idea what was going on in Death Note episodes 26-to the end and honestly, it’s not even really worth watching after L dies. Like, someone warned me the second part was condensed nearly to the point of incomprehension, and they were right. For the first 25 episodes, Akira and I were able to watch it while we worked on art projects, like I would make friendship bracelets and he would knit, but we quickly abandoned that plan because we realized if we weren’t giving it our full intention, we would be confused as hell, but even with our full attention, there are definitely still plot points that I just don’t understand. I’m hoping these are addressed in the manga, which I’m aiming to read next year (and I’ll probably also save Another Code for next year, since my local library does a reading competition.)

With that said, though, I do still think the musical is the most faithful adaption, though some versions are better than others (Adam’s Ryuk, for instance, is much worse than George’s in terms of actually matching Ryuk’s character - Adam didn’t seem to realize Ryuk is supposed to be the comedic relief, and I also don’t really like Dean as L because he acts far too mature even though the script itself says it - childish and hate to lose - so when I see anime L or I haven’t watched the Japanese version yet but the Korean Ls I’m like “oh that’s my little freak and I love him so much” but Dean is far too buff and plays it far too serious so even things like “is it because I’m the only one here with sweets” don’t land right and feel out of character), and as a result of trying to squish so much into such a short span, things can feel rushed, and you do have to jettison some genuinely good stuff (I was expecting to hate Mello and Near but I found myself unexpectedly having a fondness for them), when most people who are casual fans or only know a little bit about it, I’m sure they think of it as a battle of wits between Light and L and making it that was, I think, definitely the right choice..
