Hi aleks, sometimes I feel like, no one wants to connect on this social media site? Idk. The like to rb ratio is depressing. I mean, I’m grateful that people are liking my posts. But like. I wanna hear what they think too, ya know?
not sure if you are a writer im guessing from the wording of this ask that you are. but I think it's a bit hard these days to get the level of interaction that you may be asking for
depending on what fandom youre in or what character youre posting about or what trope youre writing etc etc the size of the audience will change. like I already know in my mind if im writing something that is more geared towards stereotypical heteronormative relationships that will get much more interaction than something that is subversive. or if im writing a fic for a popular character that will get much more interactions than a not so popular one.
But at the same time, coming from someone who used to write for a very popular character, I have to say that the grass is not always greener? As in, I think there is a difference between quantity and quality of interactions. If im writing something that I know a core base of people who follow me will like, I know I will most likely get at least some sort of interaction from people who typically enjoy that content. I find that interaction to be more meaningful, especially if it's something I enjoy talking about. vs, if I write something with a bigger 'audience', perhaps there will be more reblogs but the back and forth interaction does not happen. that person will read the fic, reblog or leave a comment, and then be on their way. It does not create this relationship where you end up having a back and forth conversation or becoming mutuals or anything like that (at least, in my experience).
Like if I post a fic that EYE enjoy, and I get ten comments from lovely people, that means more to me than a hundred interactions on a fic I didn't put my whole dick into. ya know?
idk where im going with this. I guess I wanna say if you are passionate about something, and you receive even a few bits of feedback, that will feel so much more rewarding than trying to 'chase' the feedback by writing things you think others will enjoy. and I think too that people will be able to tell when you are writing something that you feel passionate about.
im of the opinion that you can't force people to reblog and interact with your work. ive seen every excuse under the sun for why people wont reblog. but I think if someone feels as passionate about something as you do, they will overcome whatever shyness they feel to come tell you that they appreciate what you are doing

I hope I'm your mutual you don't give a fuck about. I hope you feel nothing when you see me in your notes. I hope you can never be bothered and keep forgetting to block me. I hope you deactivated. I hope we both deactivate.

//Personally I think ppl should be more chill with just hard blocking ppl. Get away from the idea that it's some moral condemnation or even than it means that the blocked person did something upsetting or anything like that. Morally neutral action.
Like I'm not saying "your friend upset you so you can just block them out of nowhere and they aren't allowed to be upset" obviously. But if I see someone who mildly annoys me that I simply do not want to see, whether on my dash, in my follower list, or in the tags? Who tf cares if I block them? "They didn't do anything bad enough to block them over" who tf said they had to? It's enough to simply not want to see or interact with someone.

*my country's drama fandom wondering why our new wave of kdrama fans focuses only on the wholesome romances and ignores/doesn't see heavier/serious themes even IN the dramas they watch and fetishizes Korean men like they are perfect kdrama characters despite not many current dramas having perfect male characters to begin with*
Me: *remembers the twitter fandom two years ago policing people who watched morally bad™ and toxic dramas, creating a category for Bad Cringe dramas you can't talk about unless it's to criticize or make fun of them and calling people abuse apologists for liking villains, morally gray characters or toxic™ ships* damn, I wonder why

thinking abt this one interaction i had w my aunt where i said that i was involved in alot of drama and met rlly horrid ppl online and so she went "ooooh so thats why you say you hate people! of course online people are terrible!" ...compared to the actual angels irl who instead of being manipulative and hypocritical took the direct way of, yknow, physically bullying me and stealing my stuff and making even the teachers turn on me. yes. wow. what a difference. it's like im in hell comparing between torture demon #1 and torture demon #2

I wish I was more... used to Tumblr? Like, I basically only enter here to check if there are new posts on tags I follow, see my notifications and to post, but I don't interact or see other blogs much. I'm writing this here to motivate me to change it and spend more time on here in general!!

It would be hilarious if Erin thought Flynn was younger than her. Like she doesn't know how or why she ever came to that conclusion but she just assumed it! It doesn't help that I imagine Erin is pretty tall, even without the heels ( maybe that's why her and Imani became such fast friends. They both are the tallest among their friends/j), and Flynn is a shorty.
And then when the two finally start talking to each other ( since they have seen each other multiple times before this and yet they never really talked to each other), and at some point Erin slips that she thinks Flynn is younger ( which again is hilarious because this is Erin we are talking about), and Flynn just goes " huh? I'm 19. How old are you," and Erin's brain just short circuits. I don't know why this is so funny to me, but it is.
Erin: ......I'm 19.
Flynn: Oh hey, we're the same age....wait you thought I was younger?
Erin: ......yeah.
Flynn: .......Erin, we've seen each other so many times-
Erin: I KNOW-
Erin made Flynn swear to not tell anyone, especially Imani. She will not hear the end of it.
This might be a little ooc of Erin, especially since I doubt she would have that big of a reaction, but it's funny.

Every single one of those posts that tells people they should at least reblog some of the stuff they like has the replies FILLED with people saying that you can't tell anyone what to do and like. yeah i guess there's always been lurkers on here but like. you realize the people saying this are doing it because they love the culture on this site and don't want to see it taken over by people who refuse to engage with content in a meaningful way.
you don't have to reblog every single thing you like (and hell since reblogs are now something that can be turned off, sometimes you cant) but like. you should reblog some things. whether its memes or fanart or fanfic or informational posts or whatever. you could also try to start a gimmick blog that posts a specific type of content and you can utilize the tags to get out there since plenty of people do check general tags on this site. you can also have side blogs if you want! which can be themed around specific things! this is also a super common thing!
you're new here so you're still feeling things out and trying to get your foot in the door so just start reblogging content and following people. i know some of you are looking to gain a big following really quickly but tbh growth on this site is incredibly slow so you have to be patient and you have to put in the effort to get real people interested in following you, and your reblogs can say a lot about you
