I actually love that you mentioned that abandoning a pack member is looked down upon.

Are there like degrees to it? Like is abandoning an alpha wolf as bad as a gamma one? Or is like abandoning an omega like the worst thing a pack could do?

Each one has a different layer to it.

Omegas: they are so vulnerable without a pack that abandoning them is one of the most horrifying thing a pack of werewolf could do. It is almost taboo. If another pack found out about it, they would shun that pack, maybe rip it apart.

Deltas: can survive a bit alone and are resilient, but since their instincts are so strongly connected to the care of a pack, being packless makes them incredibly disoriented. Their instincts go crazy, to the point where they neglect themselves so much they will slowly waste away.

Gammas: Gammas are the type of werewolf that can survive the most alone, but even then it's a miserable existence. Because they have no pack ground that is a safe place to let go of their constant hypervigilance, they end up overwhelmed, exhausted and incredibly skittish. (Gamma MC has a very hard time feeling safe again)

Betas: it is very cruel to abandon Betas, because it means they are unwanted, and this is the worst heartbreak a Beta could experience. In fact, Betas die very quickly if left by a pack, because their strong sensitivity and emotional attunement to the pack gets severed and betrayed too deeply for them to survive in most cases.

Alpha: stray alphas are very rare, but very heartbreaking. If an Alpha itself is abandoned, it means they are rejected completely by the pack. And that makes Alphas go crazy. The lack of other werewolves drives Alphas insane. Stray Alphas are often hyperaggressive, and so lonely it hurts.

I'm sick so I'm throwing out sick omega headcanons

The nest does not feel comfortable, the blankets can never quite be in the right spot and it irritates the omega to no end

The omega can't wear too much clothing as it overheats them and adds to their misery. But if they try to nest with less clothing they get very cold. And with the blankets not cooperating they get cold easily

Stuffed noses mean they can't scent their mate or pack members. So they can't even be soothed that way

They aren't hungry, but their bodies are demanding nutrition, so they are hangry

Their poor pack mates want to snuggle with them but the omega refuses to let them into the nest. Both because they are cranky, and because they don't want to get the rest of the pack sick

Their scent sours as they fight off the illness, putting the whole pack on edge. This could double as a way to fend off Predators in more prehistoric times

Pregnancy headcanons for omegas w/o their baby daddy?

ooo!

so, generally the way i do aob, omegas don’t necessarily need their pup’s sire with them, but they DO need a trusted pack member. that pack member can be a sibling, friend, parent, or partner, just, someone they trust to take care of them / the pup.

just a clarification for how i’ve worded some of these xD

their anxiety is much higher, which leaves them jumpy and even paranoid. they’re much warier people touching them.

extremely defensive of their dens/nest.

also extremely picky about their dens/nests. they’ll make and remake their nest until it satisfies them—and sometimes it will only satisfy them for a short time before they start all over again.

hormones have their emotions running high, and without a partner to help soothe them/regulate them their mood swings can be pretty bad.

sleep in short fits, waking at the slightest change in sound.

the closer they get to birth, the less they tend to leave their homes / dens.

they eat more!! again, an increase in appetite is to be expected, but it increases just a little bit more for them.

lots of purring to self-soothe / soothe the pup.

the pup is a little extra restless, moving more and pushing at the ribs / stomach / bladder / etc.

i tried to keep most / all of these symptoms unpleasant but not totally debilitating; while i love leaning on the “needs pack” aspect of omegaverse, i didn’t want to make anything TOO life-threatening xD

The "Nom" action — A/B/O

When someone (Alpha/Omega/Beta) feels safe/feels a lot of affection for someone, while they're in a more instictually driven state, they may 'Nom'. This is where they gently nip/bite and hold the 'grip' to show their affection.

Betas:

Betas rarely go into a more instictually driven state, due to how they are, so they're more prone to the 'nom' instict

A Beta will 'nom' the wrist of whoever they feel comfortable with

This is due to the fact their Wrist-glands are very important and serve a more dominant function in them, compared to AO's

The longer the Beta holds the wrist, the more affection they have towards the person/the more comfortable they feel

Omegas:

Omegas 'nom' either in heat or during moments of pure relaxation

To 'nom' an Omega will first go to the person and see if they get affection

Then, they'll prepare to 'nom' by wrapping the target in an affectionate hold

Then, they grab the person's arm and 'nom' the forearm as a way to play

The more time the Omega takes to prepare their 'nom-attack' the more affection they feel/the more comfortable they are with the person

Alphas:

Alphas 'nom' during when they're deep in their instincts

First, the Alpha will paw at the person; pawing at the arm or shoulder they will attack

Then they'll lean in and gently 'nom' around the bicep or the shoulder

If an Alpha closes their eyes, that means they feel safe with the person — the longer their eyes stay shut, the more affection/trust they have

YES! Quite realistic actually. Omegas have a nurturing instinct, but that doesn't equate with wanting to have their own children.

Omegas are equally as content in taking care of children of the pack (which they consider theirs), or tending to pups in general. It soothes them.

But yeah, only some Omegas actually want to bear a pup of their own, and it's normal for them to not want to
