dunno if this has been done yet but: airplane didn’t first become aware of peerless cucumber in the comments of pidw, he first saw peerless in the comments of a different web novel (that perhaps was one of airplane’s earlier works?) and so when initially drafting pidw he was inspired to write a villain just like cucumber bc “he’s MEAN MEAN for no reason, a literature snob, and pretends to be all high and mighty while looking down on others. also likes to kick down the little guy” and boom. sqq was born. cut to years later post-transmigration when sqh just casually drops this info with “lol i always did find it funny how much you hated the guy considering he’s literally based off you”

The reason PIDW Binghe has a gazillion wives is the same reason Shen Qingqiu goes to brothels etc

Poor abused young Binghe only found safety and comfort in the company of women and abuse at the hands of men just like young Xiao Jiu

They both distrust men and see themselves as monsters except when in the company of women

It's such an obvious comparison and I didn't see it until now and now I'm mad at myself

Also makes you question Shang Qinghua's relationship with his dad who he went to live with after the divorce as opposed to his relationship to his mom

One headcanon that I sometimes contemplate is that in the original PIDW the reason nyy never spoke up against the false accusations of sj having bad intentions towards her is because sj ordered her not to. And that he did this because he realized that even if she said anything there was a strong possibility the people around them wouldn’t fully believe nyy and dismiss her words as a young naïve girl who got taken advantage of. Sj could probably see where the chips were going to fall and as a strategist he’d know that the odds are against him and it’s likely nyy could get caught in the crossfire. If nyy spoke out, in doing so bingge would also potentially realize nyy might not be fully on his side blindly following him and if she knows differently about the truth of what actually happened and defends sj during the trial than there is a possibility bingge will just see nyy as a loose end and kill her like he plans to do with the rest of the sect, nyy marrying bingge and becoming his wife might have been less childhood love and more of a survival tactic in a shifting political landscape and I think about a headcanon where sj encouraged her to do that as a worst case scenario as long as it ensures she survives.

An alive wife might be better than a dead cultivator dying a horrible death for someone else's revenge, and I think it’s interesting if sj did that as his last act in protecting someone he saw like his own daughter ensuring she lives and told nyy to do whatever she had to do to survive in the future no matter how underhanded or who she had to throw under the bus to do it

"Yes, you are" Luo Binghe replied with a twisted smile, unflappable in the face of the redhead's denial. "I can sense Shen Qingqiu's soul in you, therefore, you are my Shizun" He insisted, leaning slightly to be at the young man's level, who remained impassive, even when Luo Binghe's voice turned dark and threatening. "Do you really think that, just by reincarnating in another world, you could escape from me, Shizun?"

'What kind of terrifying madness is this guy talking about?' Cale wondered, frowning at the man's insistence. He could only sigh. "You're completely crazy" He expressed bluntly. At that moment, he was ready to activate the Indestructible Shield if the man decided to attack him once he lost his patience. 'Although I do not know his strength, the shield should withstand one or two blows, enough time for Choi Han or Raon to arrive in the room as soon as they detect the presence of this bastard'

But if I was being honest the only way I can see Shen Jiu really going for Shang Qinghua is Shen Jiu makes a snarky comment about Shang Qinghua finding him attractive and our sleep deprived hamster just looks him dead in the eye and says "nah. Not my type" (which is a little bit of a fib but he was annoyed)

And after a moment of shock and outrage Shen Jiu narrows his eyes and thinks "Challenge Accepted"

So imagine Shen Jiu aggressively courting Shang Qinghua out of spite solely to prove a point and accidentally falling for the hamster
