Another long anon under the cut.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aside from the fact that you seem to be trying to educate me about my own culture, you really are a fool, aren't you?
Yes, respect is important. And yes, it is not good manners to pick a fight with someone. However, there is that small bit you decided to highlight. Shall I say it louder for those in the back?
"Respecting the feelings of whoever is being spoken to."
That goes to say the same should be expected from this hypothetical female character too. If she was not respecting their feelings, why should she expect them to respect her back?
And for the Chinese OCs in question, here is how they would react.
Haoyu would not like it if she disrespects his feelings and would definitely talk back to her about it. If she won't show him respect, then he is not showing her any respect too. He does not see why she thinks this is okay to do.
Hui Jin is upset by this. He does not think the girl had the right to disrespect him for a joke. It is not funny to him, so he will react accordingly. He would tell her that she is being disrespectful and that he will not tolerate that.
Jian-Yu would be put off by the disrespect he is receiving and start judging this girl for it. He does not see why he should have to put up with his feelings being disrespected like this. If she has the audacity to tell him that he needs to respect her feelings, he will laugh at her and say "that's a funny joke. Funny, because you didn't do that for me. Why should I respect you?"
Jiao-Long is upset with it. He does not think he did anything to deserve to have his feelings just disrespected like this. He would likely start avoiding her. If he has to spend time around her, he makes sure someone else is with him. He refuses to deal with her alone.
Kunming does not like that she disrespected his feelings like this. He is more than willing to just throw hands with her. Whenever he sees her again in the future, he just turns the other way and ignores her. He makes sure to drop hints for other people to know that this girl was not so nice.
Li Feng shrinks into himself. He first questions if it is his fault. Then he will ask other people for their opinion on it. Finally, he concludes that this girl was being disrespectful towards him, and that he does not have to accept that. He would judge her from a distance whenever he sees her from that point on.
Longwei is baffled that someone would be mean to him for no reason. Oh? It was a joke? Haha. He does not find that funny. As someone who had been bullied before, Longwei will not just let her get away with it. He would confront her about it and make sure she understands exactly how he feels about her now, and he is not going to be nice about it.
Shen is upset and kind of wants to cry, but he doesn't. He tells the girl that she should try being nicer. If she won't change her attitude, then he will not talk to her anymore. He will ignore her if she tries to talk to him.
Shi Yin is annoyed by this, and he tells her that she was being disrespectful flat out. He also tells her that he will not be speaking to her again from that point on. If she refuses to respect him, he will not respect her.
Xiaoshi is not going to go easy on her. He starts out by telling her that he thinks she is a terrible person for not respecting his feelings. Why should he respect her if she is just going to treat him like trash? That is not something he will just accept.
Xinyi just begins avoiding her like she is the plague. He does not want to speak to someone who disrespected his feelings. He has no obligation to. If he has to see her again, he avoids looking at her directly and only speaks to her when someone else does.
Xue Long is not pleased with this. He has had plenty of experience with people disrespecting his feelings, and he has become more guarded as a result. This girl had said/done something that hurt him, so he is more cautious around her. He remembers what he has been taught, but this person did not respect him. He gives her judgmental looks any time she tries to speak to him.
YunLong would just sigh and tell her that she is not a good person for being so disrespectful. He would say he would like to be nice, but it does not seem like she deserves it. Whenever he sees her after this point, he makes sure to remind her of her actions and that she needs to change that if she wants his respect.
Zixuan looks at her differently from that point on. His feelings were just disrespected after all. "Treat people the way you want to be treated", he has heard people say. Since this girl was treating him disrespectfully, then he will not be nice to her. He ignores her as much as possible.

They aren't even going to be the first to do something or make characters Mulan based. I already saw that twstschemer has Chenxi Huang (based on Mushu) and twstrhythm has Jiao-Long Song (based on Mulan)
Tumblr media
Literally every time they open their mouth, I lose brain cells. I want to smack my forehead against a wall until my brain is capable of following this train of thought.
"I have some ideas, and it will be good" LITERALLY SHUT UP! SHUT UP! OOOHHHHH MY GOD ENOUGH ALREADY!!!
TWST hasn't done anything with Mulan so it's YOUR responsibility to do it?! THE ACTIVELY RACIST NON-ASIAN PERSON??!!! YOU'RE NOT EVEN THE FIRST ONE TO USE MULAN AS A BASIS FOR TWST CHARACTERS!!
EDIT: I received a correction to the original message: “Wanted to clarify that said twstrhythm's OC's name is Jiao-Long Feng, not Jiao-Long Song. And that Chenxi Huang belongs to twstwhisper not twstschemer.”
I’m sorry I know I basically just rewrote your ask in this response but I just can’t anymore. Someone, please, hire a hitman. Put me out of my MISERY. I can’t physically handle seeing such stupidity on a daily basis.

Scarabia and Pomefiore edition
Under the cut because spoilers
Due to the curse Malleus cast that has enveloped all of Sage’s Island, everyone is sleeping.
Emil Mays - Emil is living with his family. His parents still aren't around, but he is happy. His life isn't that different than the normal world. It is just the same, but he met Rayan at an earlier time.
Jiao-Long Feng - Jiao-Long's ideal dream world shows that he has a younger sibling just like he had dreamed of. His family is happy, and they are well off. He spends a lot of time with his family and helps around the neighborhood.
Rayan al-Mena - Rayan's ideal world is pretty much the same as the life he has in the normal world. However, he has more friends than he had before. Emil is someone he knew way sooner, and they both spend a lot of time together.
Sébastien Cadieux - Sébastien's family business is rich. The flowers they sell are bought by people all around the area. He never went to RSA and goes straight to NRC as his first magic school. He has plenty of friends and is popular at school.
Shen Liu - Shen is living a life back home. He is helping with his family's business. Most of his time is spent assisting his parents. However, that means that he never went to NRC. Yet he still has become friends with some of the students there somehow.
Elise Page - Contrary to normal, he is accepting of his name. Elise is happy with the life he has at home. He does not have to keep his magic hidden from his family anymore, and he is free to use it. His family is accepting of all of it.
Xīnyí Tián - People would think that Xīnyí's ideal world is one where he never left home, but that is not the case. His ideal dream world has him surrounded by family. They are accepting of his dreams, and he is not forced to follow any strict rules. He also never had the accident that cost him his leg. Things have never gone wrong.
Hubert Toussaint - Hubert never had the pressure to be perfect in the ideal dream world, but he still strives for the best. He never had to lie about his Unique Magic to his parents, and they support him however they can. Here, they contact him frequently to make sure he is alright.

psyche: what’s their head space like? do they have any mental illnesses? how do they process difficult or emotional situations? what are their coping mechanisms? with Octavinelle and Scarabia kids
Octavinelle and Scarabia edition
Nalani is typically upbeat and lively. However, he tends to tune out the things around him. He is usually preoccupied with his own things like listening to music. Going on that same line, listening to music is how he copes with things.
Aster has anxiety when it comes to dealing with people. He dislikes having to talk to confrontational people. Typically, he prefers keeping to himself. However, there are some people that he likes to speak with. Coping mechanisms for him would be hide in a small space.
Longwei does not like talking to people who lie. He wants truth from people and nothing else. He hates it when people lie to him because it feels like they aren't so trustworthy. When he needs to cope with something, he stays in his room.
YunLong is a calm person for the most part. He watches people closely and evaluates them based on their actions. He does know what he has to say to get under someone's skin. To cope with problems, he tends to play music.
Emil tends to act like a trickster. He finds some joy in toying with people, but he knows there should be limits. He tends to act based on emotion sometimes. A way to cope with problems is to listen to music.
Jiao-Long is an intelligent, cunning, and resourceful individual. He is prideful in his knowledge and tends to overthink things. He does not try to spare feelings when giving his opinion. To cope with problems, he goes for walks.
Rayan tends to think a lot. He worries about how people perceive him and tries to stay on their good side. He does not want to get into trouble with people if he can avoid it. For him, the best way to deal with problems is to sit outside and stare at the sky.

Which Oc do you have the most fun thinking about? Who has a special place in your heart and why? Are there any ocs you enjoy but don't talk about or think about quite as often as the others? Are there any you relate to a lot, be it cultural similarities or personality ones?
Ooh. Those are some fun ones.
Which Oc do you have the most fun thinking about?
Ester Thorn - He is just an unpredictable bundle of joy. He is the kind of person that does not really understand social cues, but he will back off if someone seems uncomfortable. On top of that, his idea of gifts for someone can range from a lamp to a weapon. He would see nothing wrong with arming high school students, cause what could possibly go wrong?
Who has a special place in your heart and why?
Personally speaking, that would be Xue Long Yang. He just grew on my over time, and I fleshed him out more. He is someone who is typically quiet, but he would stand up for what he believes in. And much like myself, has trouble voicing his feelings or rather, talking about them.
Are there any ocs you enjoy but don't talk about or think about quite as often as the others?
Theodore Little - A precious little mouse boy that would be more than willing to kick your butt for waking him up from a nap.
Aster Nightshade - My strange octopus boy who hides in large flower pots when he is feeling upset. How he fits in there while being in his human form, no one knows.
Shi Yin Liang - Probably one of the few human characters in Savanaclaw. He is a bit of a realist and does not try to spare people's feelings if they ask for his opinion on things. He would reality check someone even if he knows it will end up upsetting them.
Xiaoshi Ren - Tiger boy. He isn't based off of any character in particular. While may not be much of a people person, he still talks to others and doesn't usually forget people he has met. Even if he dislikes someone, he might step in and help them in the face of danger.
Are there any you relate to a lot, be it cultural similarities or personality ones?
Jiao-Long Feng - Culturally wise since I am Chinese as well. There is a lot of pressure to be perfect and respect elders. On top of that, personality wise... we are kind of the same. Honest to a fault.
Xavi Luna - Middle child like me.

Background:
Jiao-Long is the second child of a middle class family. He lives in Xianglong Zhigong. Growing up, he played with the neighborhood kids. He had always longed for a younger sibling, but he never got one. As a result, he treated the younger kids in his neighborhood like they were his siblings. He always thought that things would remain the way they were.
Then one day, a messenger came with a prophecy. The prophecy foretold the story of a being who would be a protector who fought with elegance and grace. Much to his surprise, Jiao-Long was the one who had been given the prophecy. Deciding to follow it, he set out to find the answers that could help him understand this.
This leads him to the magic schools. He believed that since the prophecy was read with magic, magic would be needed to understand it and unlock more of it. In order to do that, he needed to enroll in a magic school. After some research, he decides to enroll in Night Raven College. It wasn’t difficult to do since he discovered he had magic of his own.

Magical Skill: He is skilled in magic, particularly fire magic. He has great control over his magic, but is not able to minimize damage done to his surroundings.
Skilled Swordsman: Jiao-Long has knowledge in sword fighting. He was taught to use a sword when he was younger and still retains that knowledge.
Martial Artist: He knows martial arts and uses this to help himself get through fights.
Unique Magic:
Jiao-Long’s Unique Magic is called Reflection. It gives him the ability to predict and mimic his opponents’ attacks. This is a combat related Unique Magic. When it is activated during fights, he is able to perfectly mimic the moves his opponent makes even if he has never done that move before. This only works with physical combat, and he is unable to copy people’s magic. If he tries to do so, he gets some backlash. He also has a time limit, shown via a counter that appears on the back of his hand, for how long he is able to do this. Using it for too long will render him exhausted and unable to move for a few hours.
Chant: "I can fool the world, but I cannot fool my heart. Show me what I seek, Reflection."

He taught the cat to fetch his glasses whenever he would lose them.
Xianglong Zhigong (翔龙之宫) literally meaning Kingdom/palace of flying dragons.
He has an older brother named Huāhuǒ Féng

Autumn Moon Festival - Chapter 2
Chapter 2 - Where to?
"Hey prefect!" A voice calls to him, "Come over here!"
Yunru looks around until he spots the source of the voice. "Huh? Jian-Yu and Xue Long? What are they up to?"
"Ugh... they're probably going to mess with us. Let's ignore them." Grim scowls.
"No. I think we should see what they want first." Yunru shakes his head. He heads over to the two third years and pauses when he notices some other students gathered. "Huh? What are you all doing here?"
Before them stands Jiao-Long Feng, Longwei Jiang, Li Feng Jiang, Haoyu Yang, Chenxi Huang, Jiawen Zhang, and Ziwei Lin.
Longwei smiles and waves to the Ramshackle prefect. "We're all preparing to head to the mirror hall for the Autumn Moon Festival, but we have to make sure we have everything we need first."
"The Autumn Moon Festival? What's that?" Grim asks.
"Ah... I can't explain it as well as my seniors would..." Longwei sighs. "Sorry about that."
"Then allow me!" Xue Long says, stepping forward.
"Thank you..." Longwei looks away.
"Where we come from, it is a celebration of the great harvest to come because the full moon is upon us." Xue Long smiles. "We usually make and eat special pastries called mooncakes. During the celebration we light lanterns to act as a beacon that will light people's path to prosperity and good fortune."
"Shixiong sure knows his stuff!" Chenxi laughs.
"Whoa! We should go too, servant! It sounds like a lot of fun!" Grim says excitedly.
Yunru hums and nods. "Alright, but only if that is alright with you guys."
"Of course! The more the merrier!" Jian-Yu laughs, poking Grim's forehead. "Since most of our families have already finished preparations, we'll all be headed to Xiaoshi's place to help him out. He left ahead of us."
"Where exactly are we headed?" Yunru asks.
"Our hometown, Xiangling Zhigong." Jian-Yu grins.

Autumn Moon Festival - Chapter 15
Chapter 15 - Lantern Lights
"I didn't think making lanterns would be this hard..." Grim sighs.
"And it only took you five tries." Yunru scoffs.
"Don't make fun of me!" Grim growls.
"I'm only pointing things out. Don't yell at me." Yunru rolls his eyes.
Xiaoshi approaches the two and examines Grim's lantern. He turns it around in his hands and carefully pokes at the edges. Then he hands it back to the little monster. "Not bad. You didn't waste more materials than necessary."
"Why you!" Grim starts.
"Xiaoshi, we should get moving." Xue Long interrupts. "Everyone is ready now."
"We're coming. Head out first and let the others know I am on the way." Xiaoshi says.
Xue Long nods before disappearing out the door. Grim sighs and walks out, wanting to avoid another round of teasing from Xiaoshi. Yunru picks up his lantern and walks out after the little monster. He could hear a door close behind him before Xiaoshi walked right past him.
'These guys are taking this really seriously...'
Once outside, Yunru can see everyone gathered up. Jian-Yu, Jiawen, Xue Long, and Ziwei were all talking among themselves about something. While he had wanted to know what they were discussing, he decided to approach the group of underclassmen instead.
"Hey guys." He says as he approaches.
"Hi, Yunru!" Haoyu and Chenxi say, waving.
"Are you ready to go?" Jiao-Long asks.
"As ready as I'll ever be." Yunru sighs. "Has Xiaoshi always been this strict?"
"Only sometimes." Jiao-Long says.
"He's just taking this seriously because his family was asked to lead it this year." Haoyu says.
"It's a real big deal! He has to make sure he doesn't mess up for his family's honor." Jiao-Long says.
"Honor must be upholded or your ancestors will forsake you." Chenxi adds.
"You're always talking about that..." Longwei sighs.
"Cause it is necessary!" Chenxi argues.
"I know... You don't need to tell me again." Longwei sighs.
"Don't argue now..." Li Feng sighs. "Xiaoshi will get annoyed if you guys do that."
"Sorry..." Chenxi and Longwei say.
"Speaking of Xiaoshi, where did he go?" Yunru asks.
"He is checking with his parents." Li Feng says. "At least that is what I think... You could try asking the third years. They might know."
"Thanks. I'll see about that." Yunru nods. He walks over to where Jian-Yu, Jiawen, Xue Long, and Ziwei were. "Hey guys. Do you know where Xiaoshi went?"
"Xiaoshi?" Jiawen asks. "Why are you looking for him?"
"The others asked." Yunru says.
"He went up ahead." Ziwei says.
"He's up front!" Jian-Yu smiles. "I'm sure he will shine brightly."
"Not as bright as you!~" Ziwei teases.
"Now is not the time for this..." Xue Long sighs.
"Just let them have some fun." Jiawen says. "It won't hurt anyone."
"Just this one..." Xue Long says defeated.
Jian-Yu claps his hands together. "Alright everyone! It's time to light the lanterns!"
Yunru watches as each of his classmates light their lanterns. He sighs when he realizes that he had no way of lighting it himself.
"Here, let me help you." Jiawen says, lighting the candle for Yunru.
"Thank you." Yunru says.
"Come on everyone, let's get moving." Xiaoshi says approaching them.
"Yeah! Hurry up you slowpokes!" Grim says.
“We’re coming... Don’t rush us.” Yunru sighs. He follows after the group as the walk down the path.
As the evening progressed, lanterns lined the streets. The once dark pathways were soon lit up.
"Happy Autumn Moon Festival, everyone."

Autumn Moon Festival - Chapter 10
Chapter 10 - Find the culprit!
"We are getting nowhere with this!" Grim shrieks. He follows behind the group as they talk to some people in the streets.
"Quit screaming..." Xiaoshi growls. "It isn't going to help us."
"Why couldn't we just make the mooncakes instead?" Grim complains.
"Xiaoshi's parents have it handled." Chenxi says, "so we will be looking for the stolen lantern materials."
"I mean... we already said we would help. We can't take back our word like that!" Haoyu says. "As my older cousin would say, that is dishonorable!"
"What is with you guys and honor?" Grim grumbles.
"Oh well that's simple! We have to follow through with what we are doing because our actions reflect on our family. We must honor them, and to go against something we promised would be dishonorable! Shame-" Chenxi begins to say.
"Alright! I get it! You guys told me this earlier, just stop!" Grim cries.
Yunru sighs and tunes out the arguing. He follows behind Longwei and Li Feng, since they did not seem to know where they were going or what they were doing. Sure that was counter intuitive, but maybe it could lead them somewhere. "Did you guys find something?" he asks.
"Not yet..." Li Feng says quietly.
"We're just asking people what they have seen." Longwei replies. "Some of them have lied to us."
"Huh? How do you know that?" Yunru asks.
"I can tell when people are lying." Longwei says. "That's why we are going on this path. The people who lied said that it wasn't this way, so it is only natural we would go this way."
"Isn't this the way to the marketplace?" Li Feng asks.
"Yes, it is." Xiaoshi says walking up behind them. "Keep up the good work, Longwei and Li Feng."
Longwei stops walking. "There. Just ahead of us. The people we are looking for have to be there."
"Then let us proceed." Chenxi says.
"Justice will be a swift blade." Jiao-Long smiles.

Autumn Moon Festival - Chapter 7
Chapter 7 - Splitting up
"Alright. We can get this done quicker if we all split into groups." Xiaoshi begins. "I'll take Grim, Yunru and Jiao-Long with me. The rest of you figure it out on your own, and don't get into funny business."
"We know..." Haoyu sighs. "Can we just go?"
"Not yet. Longwei, Li Feng, Jiawen, and Ziwei." Xiaoshi pauses. "I don't want you guys getting lost, so stick with people who know the area. You four are not allowed to form a group with just the four of you. That would be a disaster in the making..."
"We know..." Li Feng sighs.
"Haoyu and I can take Li Feng and Longwei with us." Chenxi offers.
"Then Ziwei and I will stick with Xue Long and Jian-Yu." Jiawen speaks up.
"Good. You guys have everything sorted out already." Xiaoshi says as he hands the groups a list. "Get the stuff on the list and then meet me back here. My group will get the ingredients for mooncakes. Chenxi's group is in charge of lantern materials. Xue Long's group will get the ingredients for dinner."
"Huh?! We're all eating dinner here too?!" Grim exclaims.
"Yeah?" Jian-Yu says with a frown. "We aren't just eating mooncakes. That's for when it is night. We all need to eat dinner too."
"Silly little Grim.~" Ziwei smiles, poking Grim's cheek.
Grim screeches and jumps up onto Yunru's shoulder. "Yunru! Hurry up and follow Xiaoshi away from here! These guys are all being a pain!"
"I did nothing to you..." Longwei sighs, shaking his head.
"Not you! The older guys! Ziwei and Jian-Yu are giving me a tough time!" Grim shouts.
"Sorry... we'll keep them in line." Xue Long sighs.
"We'll see you around." Yunru waves goodbye before walking after Xiaoshi and Jiao-Long. He glances back and sighs. "Hey guys. Will they be alright?"
"Hm? I trust them. Chenxi, Longwei, Jiawen, and Xue Long are all responsible. They'll make sure their groups get the listed items." Xiaoshi says.
"Besides! They're all close friends." Jiao-Long adds. "While I am friends with them too, I think Xiaoshi would need help if it is just you two."
"Cause Grim is trouble?" Yunru asks.
"Yup! That's it!" Jiao-Long smiles.
"Hey!" Grim shouts. "I'm right here!"
"Quiet down and follow me already." Xiaoshi frowns. "Don't waste anymore time or there will be consequences."
Grim gulps. "Man... he is scary..."
"Yeah..." Yunru whispers.
"I don't want to make him mad..." Grim grumbles.

Autumn Moon Festival - Chapter 4
Chapter 4 - Where are the Dragons?
"Haha! That's more of everyone in town's work!" Xue Long laughs. "Come on. Let's not keep Xiaoshi waiting."
"I wasn't waiting that long." A voice ahead of them says.
"EH?! Who is there?!" screams Grim.
"Really? Are you that stupid?" Xiaoshi steps out from the shadow of the trees. "You clearly know my voice, and Xue Long clearly said my name."
Grim gulps when he sees the tiger beastman is glaring down at him. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to offend you!"
"Come on, Xiaoshi..." Chenxi sighs. "We didn't know you would be waiting for us to arrive. We thought you would be at your home."
Xiaoshi holds his chin and then shrugs. "Hm... fair..."
"You aren't easy to please, are you?" Jian-Yu sighs.
"Oh what have we done to offend him?" sighs Ziwei.
"Nothing I know of!" Jian-Yu says.
Xiaoshi growls and starts walking away. "Come on. Quit wasting time."
"Coming!" The group says.
Grim scurries after Xiaoshi, beckoning Yunru to keep up. "Hey! Hey! Hey Xiaoshi!"
"What is it Grim?" the tiger beastman glances down.
"Are we going to see real dragons here? Haoyu said that this place is the Kingdom of flying dragons!" Grim asks excitedly.
"Eh? You see dragons every day at Night Raven College..." Xiaoshi says with a sigh. "stop being weird."
"Huh?! Yunru! What does he mean?!" screeches Grim.
"Maybe he is talking about Tsunotaro!" Yunru says.
"Besides him!" screams Grim.
Jiawen walks up behind him. "The group with us now."
Yunru stops and looks back. "What?!"
"Not so loud..." Jiawen sighs.
"Haoyu, Li Feng, Longwei, Xue Long, Chenxi, and Jian-Yu are all dragons." Jiao-Long answers.
"They are?!" screeches Grim.
"Yes... now stop screaming." Xiaoshi grumbles. "People are watching us..."
"Sorry, Xiaoshi..." Yunru sighs.
"Forget it. Anyways, we're here. Welcome to my house." Xiaoshi stops in front of a building.

Autumn Moon Festival - Chapter 12
Chapter 12 - Lending a Helping Hand
"Where are those guys?" Xiaoshi growls, his ears pressing against his head in annoyance.
"Calm down!" Grim huffs, "you're making people stare at us. You're probably just overreacting!"
Xiaoshi pauses in his step and takes a deep breath. He takes a deep breath and crosses his arms. "Right... I am probably overreacting."
"Yeah!" Grim says, "Now why don't we just wait for them at the house?"
"No." Xiaoshi glares down at the monster before continuing on his way.
Chenxi laughs as Grim lets out a flabbergasted sigh. "Grim, it's no use. Xiaoshi already set his mind to it."
"We'll just have to follow his lead." Jiao-Long says, smiling.
"You guys are taking this way too easily..." Grim sighs.
"Just relax, Grim!" Chenxi shakes his head as he continues walking.
"Oh! Looks like Xiaoshi found them!" says Haoyu.
Yunru looks ahead and could see Jian-Yu, Jiawen, Xue Long, and Ziwei helping some people with some groceries as Xiaoshi approaches them. He could not hear what was being said, but he could see a small exchange happening. "Wonder what that is about..." he comments.
"They seem to be helping with the groceries..." Li Feng says.
"That's the obvious thing." Longwei says.
"I know... but weren't they supposed to be getting the groceries to begin with?" Li Feng asks.
"That's what they were told to do." Longwei says as the group begins approaching. He waves and gives them a small smile. "What took you so long, shixiong?"
"Apologies..." Xue Long starts.
"We were just lending them a hand." Jiawen says.
"Some people knocked over their crates, so we were fixing it." Jian-Yu says.
"But then we got a little distracted and started helping them with handing out stuff to people coming! Hahaha!" Ziwei adds.
"Our bad!" Jian-Yu and Ziwei say together with a laugh while Jiawen and Xue Long shake their heads with a sigh.
"Since it is handled, let's head back and cook." Xiaoshi says. "My parents should be done with making the moon cake now."
"Of course. They always make the best ones in town." Xue Long says.
"Flattery will not get you extra ones." Xiaoshi crosses his arms.
"I was not trying for that..." Xue Long shakes his head. "It was merely a compliment."
"If you say so..." Xiaoshi begins walking off. "You guys are handling dinner, right?"
"That we are!" Jian-Yu smiles. "With Jiawen, Xue Long, Ziwei and me on the case, dinner will be done in no time!"
"Could I help?" Yunru asks.
"Sure thing, prefect! The more the merrier!" Jian-Yu pats him on the back. "Let's serve some dinner!"

Autumn Moon Festival - Chapter 8
Chapter 8 - A Sign of Respect
"Xiaoshi! Jiao-Long! You two are back from school?" the shopkeeper greets them. "Are you passing your classes?"
"I'm doing well! Passing all of my classes, auntie." Jiao-Long says with a smile.
"Auntie, I called ahead of time and told you I would be coming by to pick up some things..." Xiaoshi sighs.
"Oh you two!" The lady laughs. She walks deeper into the store. "I remember when you were still little. I saw you running around the streets playing games a lot, Xiaoshi. To think you would become such a refined young man."
"Can we not talk about this, please?" Xiaoshi grumbles.
"Now now, is that the way you talk to your elders?" the shopkeeper says, holding a bag out to the tiger beastman. "Do I need to talk to your parents?"
"No. I'm sorry for being rude, auntie..." Xiaoshi says, bowing his head.
"We'll come by and visit again!" Jiao-Long says waving goodbye.
"Take care, you two. Make sure your friends stay out of trouble." The shopkeeper says before she walks off to help a different customer.
"That's your aunt?!" Grim exclaims once they are out of earshot. "You guys are related?!"
"Oh!" Jiao-Long covers his mouth. "That's not the case!"
"Jiao-Long and I are not related." Xiaoshi scoffs.
"Then why did you both call her auntie?!" shrieks Grim.
"It's a sign of respect. We call everyone here in town auntie, uncle, grandmother, or grandfather even if we are not related." Xiaoshi says.
"Huh? So you guys do that here too?" Yunru says.
"Huh?! Yunru does it too?!" Grim cries out.
"That's how my parents raised me." Yunru says.
"As I was saying, we are just showing respect to everyone here. If they are around our age, we'd call them brother or sister." Xiaoshi continues.
"Mhm! Or cousin." Jiao-Long adds.
"This is confusing..." Grim sighs. "Never mind! Let's forget that! What's in the bag?"
"The ingredients we need to make mooncakes." Xiaoshi answers.
