Whilst we’re in the Tolkien spirit around here, I edited another pic from my Galadhrim OC shoot last October! Her design pulls on a lot of different cosmetic pieces from Lord of the Rings Online ✨

✨elven details✨

I put SO much time into textures on this costume, partly because the colour scheme is so limited—when you only have a few colours, texture and pattern provide more contrast!

I do think the stars of this build are my leaf bracers, modelled after a LOTRO in-game cosmetic. They’re hand tooled leather, dyed grey, and painted with gold and bronze.

But the other gold details are painted, too! I think think we have a tendency to think of painting on a costume as messier or less professional than other methods, but honestly it can look really good if you do the testing and take your time!

At long last—the first photo of my Galadhrim Elf OC! Culi originated as my first character in Lord of the Rings Online over 10 years ago, and she’s still around and kicking! She’s a Hunter class, kinda hates everyone, and doesn’t know how to compromise 😂 But I love her!

It was so fun to take inspiration from both the game and the films to design her look—always in Lorien grey and gold, but with lots of beautiful textures! This was shot at a waterfall in Canada (NB) where I’ve been on a little vacation this week ✨
