Top Tourist Destinations in Oahu Hawaii
Tumblr media
Oahu, Hawaii, offers a variety of attractions. Whether you are looking for an active adventure, a cultural experience, or a beautiful beach, there are various places to visit in the Hawaiian Islands, such as the Oahu North Shore, Diamond Head, and Byodo-In Temple. You can explore the island's botanical gardens and historic sites to get a sense of the island's rich history.
Diamond Head
If you're looking for the ultimate view of Oahu, you can't go wrong with a hike up Diamond Head.  This popular destination offers unobstructed views of the sea, the city of Honolulu, and Waikiki Beach. The views are especially spectacular at sunrise and sunset. Visitors should bring appropriate clothing and sunscreen.
During the Whale Season, November-March, you'll see whales breaching the water's surface. You can also check out World War I and World II pillboxes and gun emplacements on the mountain. These sites were used during World War II to protect the area. If you visit during this time, don't forget your binoculars and camera!
Diamond Head is one of the most famous natural landmarks in Hawaii. With a distinctive profile, it's a popular hiking destination that overlooks Waikiki Beach. You can access the summit via a trail that is 0.8 miles long and rises 560 feet above the crater floor.
Byodo-In Temple
Byodo-In Temple is one of the top Oahu tourist attractions. Located in the Valley of the Temples, the shrine was built on June 7, 1968, to commemorate the hundredth anniversary of Japanese immigration to Hawaii. Despite being a non-practicing temple, it is a beautiful setting for meditation.
Byodo-In Temple is a stunning replica of the Byodo-In Temple in Japan. The temple is quite beautiful and peaceful and is open to visitors of all faiths. It is a wonderful place to spend an hour or two, depending on your level of interest. The complex contains meditation areas and gardens. There are also restrooms at the back of the gift shop.
Another must-see attraction at the Byodo-In Temple is the Sacred Bell, or bon-shu. The bell is a replica of the original one found at Uji Byodo-In Temple. The distinctive tone of the bon-sho is believed to purify the mind of evil spirits.
Visitors to Oahu should not miss this Buddhist temple. Located just a 30-minute drive from Honolulu, this temple is among the top attractions on the island. The temple is located in a quiet valley and offers a peaceful atmosphere.
Another top destination on the island of Oahu is the Polynesian Cultural Center. The center is comprised of six villages that represent different Pacific Island nations. You can also see traditional dance performances and learn hula. This site also has an auditorium where special performances are held.

Scenes from a Hawaiian vacation. Spent last week on vacation on the North Shore in Oahu. Sunset on Sunset Beach, hiked the falls in Waimea Valley, visited the Byodo-in Temple, and went to a luau at the Polynesian Culture Center.

Tumblr media
Oahu, which means “The Gathering Place,” is known for its incredible sightseeing views, white sandy beaches, lively culture, and unique wildlife resources.
To help you plan your itinerary, we list the most magnificent places on the Island of Oahu that is worth your time and interest.
Hidden Gems of Oahu Tour
This one-day tour from Go Tours Hawaii circles around the whole island of Oahu. You’ll get to stop by Byodo In Temple and do some turtle spotting.
You’ll start the tour from Waikiki to a place known as “Amelia Earhart Lookout.”  This location is where people watched Earhart as she started her journey. This is an elevated view that hovers on the side of the Diamond Head volcano. From this view, you can take great, Instagram-worthy photos of the southeastern coastline of Oahu.
The tour will proceed in Halona Blowhole. This natural phenomenon serves viewing pleasure. You will also be able to view the azure blue waters from the bay, Waimanalo’s cliff, and Manana Island.
For a relaxing and peaceful spot to rest your eyes and meditate, Byodo-in Temple is the perfect place. The temple surrounds a paradise where wild peacocks and Japanese koi carp are. It has a large pond, meditation niches, and calming small waterfalls.
Aside from visiting the temple, you would also enjoy watching Honu. Honu is the Hawaiian name for Green See Turtles. Visitors always loved watching them sunbathe at the beach. Seeing the world’s largest hard-shelled sea turtle will warm your heart.
For tasting pleasure, you will have to explore local shops for souvenirs and Kona coffee tastings. You can enjoy Macadamia nuts and delicious Hawaiian chocolates. Enjoy the famous North Shore shrimp and other delicious delicacies from local restaurants for lunch.
You’ll proceed to tropical fruit stands for refreshments and the Dole pineapple plantation to continue your food venture.
Among other great views included in the tour are Chinaman’s Hat and Kualoa Valley Mountain Range. You will also be delighted with serene views of the North shore sunset beach, a remarkable authentic experience in Hawaii’s heart.
