I can’t get over how young Joe looks in the picture of Elizabeth filming him at Taylor’s first show in 2018! Looking forward to more pictures and videos of Joe (and family Alwyn!) at the shows in a few months.
He does look so young there! To be fair, Joe is a chameleon who can magically de-age himself via the medium of facial hair lmao. Just compare the rep tour pics to the ones from the NYFF premiere of The Favourite. The difference is striking and that was only a few months!
And yeah I’m super excited to see him (and the Alwyns) at the eras tour. Hopefully he’ll be able to go to a few shows at least! I predict that he’ll go with the same game plan as last time (cool, calm and collected) and then fail spectacularly ( 😐🥰😏😘🤭). Again.

These characters he is playing, although challenging, are not for awards. Fresh's character would never be nominated, just like I, Tonya's asshole. He was only nominated after Tommy Lee because he wasn't portrayed as a complete asshole. If not, it would have hurt his chances despite his great performance. He will never be nominated for Trump, no matter how good he is, the awards have no balls for that. ADM is a mystery, the film is not so easy for the Academy's taste, it will need a strong campaign. Seb doesn't know how to campaign, he's very low-key.
ADM is not going to Cannes. The film has already gone to Berlin, there is no way to go to Cannes, but it could go to some end-of-year festivals like NYFF.
I do not agree honestly. I think he and his management (and lots of us) expected a nomination for jeff. The film was made for the academy’s taste, if it was released between 2018 and now it would have probably gained like 10 nominations lmao
Same for tommy , a series made for the emmys.
I agree adm is not going to Cannes unless maybe out of competition but it’s unlikely. The European premiere already happened so it’s now time for a release date after a few minors us festivals

Today, my last day at @filmlinc I’m thinking of so many magical, memorable, moving experiences. I started Nov 1, 2010 and this place - these cinemas, staff, films & filmmakers, and audiences - shaped me in countless ways. I’ve tried to emphasize accessibility at FLC, prioritizing free events in person and digital content that can travel far, and aimed to find ways for our fest(s) and programs to connect with wider audiences. Today I’m posting 12 images from these 12 years (I’ll put full size in Insta stories): - I love observing the audience at our screenings, so let’s start there - My first Chaplin Gala celebrated Sidney Poitier in 2011 and ended with a dance party where everyone was moving and no one wanted to leave - Bela Tarr at NYFF in 2011 received a rock star welcome - Agnes Varda was a fixture at FLC and NYFF. At a Shun Lee dinner I saw how much fun she had with fortune cookies - Terence Nance is among countless emerging filmmakers who joined us at New Directors/New Films over the years. His screenings of “An Oversimplification of Her Beauty” in 2012 were incredible - Chaplin Gala nights are always memorable but the 40th with Barbra Streisand was wildly exciting (I spent the evening escorting Liza Minelli) - Laura Poitras has a long history with NYFF/FLC. The world premiere of “Citizenfour” in 2014 was one of the most electric screenings I’ve experienced - Film culture warrior Jonas Mekas joined us for a riveting free talk in 2016 - Ava DuVernay has been at FLC a few times in recent years but the opening night of NYFF54 was pure magic (photo vanity fair) - Barry Jenkins at NYFF in 2018 with “If Beale Street Could Talk”, after being here with “Moonlight” two years prior, was so special, we screened it at the Apollo in Harlem (photo @godlis ) - John Waters, Pedro Almodóvar, and Tilda Swinton are responsible for innumerable unforgettable FLC evenings. This moment (captured by @photojuice ), from my birthday last year, was beyond - The closing night of my final NYFF featured Elegance Bratton, with cast & crew, unveiling the U.S. premiere of “The Inspection” 💜 Thanks @FilmLinc @TheNYFF @filmcommentmagazine staff, leaders, board, members and audiences!
