I went to college in NYC and was terrified of going under these apts. built over the road. Of course, I was always stuck in traffic under them. (The traffic report just referred to them as "The Apts.") I mean, I used to think about how heavy that building is as I was sitting there in the dark, under it. There are 4 of them.

“30 Rock,” the iconic building at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York City has an observation deck way up there, called “Top of the Rock.” It’s scary enough, but look what they’re doing, now.
The iconic picture of construction workers having lunch on a steel beam while constructing 30 Rock, gave birth to the idea of the public having lunch up here.
The “Lunch atop a Skyscraper” experience includes a movable “beam,” where visitors can be seated, strapped in, and then raised and rotated, as a recreation of the famous photograph.
Apparently, you’re not exactly hanging over the side but just being this high would make me feel weak.
The “Top of the Rock,” a new observation platform that will offer 360-degree views and “never before seen” perspectives, is part of the plan for the 70th floor. The platform would replace an out-of-commission doppler radar and antenna mast.
A rooftop “beacon” is proposed for the east end of the 70th-floor deck. The beacon is a kinetic globe that is digitally programmed to change when visitors arrive. The design also includes replacing the current red floor tiles with mosaic tile work that has a celestial design, a reoccurring theme of the artwork seen throughout the complex.
But, this is the craziest proposal and it was approved last month. On the other end of the 70th floor, the “skylift” includes a circular glass platform that will lift visitors above the rooftop, providing unique 360-degree views of the cityscape.
It’s going to look like a wedding cake when it lifts. I don’t know, if amusement park rides can break down, can you imagine if this thing went haywire this high up? Or course you need a ticket and they range from general admission $34-40, to an express pass for $75, or skip the lines for a guided VIP tour for $125.
