14. What does your oc's voice sound like and what is their accent like?

Melody's voice is crisp and ringing. She tends to talk rather loudly but not fast, although as a child she did practise saying a hundred words in a second. Ironically, there's nothing truly melodic about her voice, so Melody sings rarely and mostly while being alone.

I'm not knowledgeable about the accents of English, so I can only assume that Melody's is the accent characteristic of Nottinghamshire where she comes from.

15. What are some things your OC has taught themself over the years?

Melody taught herself patience. Her mother describes impulsiveness as the trait that the majority of Midways possess, so no wonder that Melody fully inherited it from her father. Her hot head happened to place her in difficult and uncomfortable situations, so Melody needed to learn to be more cold-blooded and careful with words, especially amidst the mess that the Cursed Vaults created. She still did let her emotions guide her at times, yet more often than not she could control her irritation or anger and react in a more restrained manner, as well as acknowledge her fault and even apologize, something she was too stubborn to do when she was younger.

Also, I like to think that Melody taught herself to be a mother, not without Orion's help. She was apprehensive to take up this role, considering herself too similar to her father to be a good parent, and it became one of the main reasons why she was against having a child initially. However, as a true Ravenclaw, she learned. Even before Atlas was born, Melody often dealt with children and thus gained experience. She realized the mistakes her father had made as a parent and did her best not to repeat them. Melody wasn't a perfect mother, of course, but she did raise a kind and smart son who loved, trusted and respected her.

Nottingham Hetalia City OC

So as someone raised there and someone who admittedly has grown out of their Hetalia phase but still likes thinking about the odd OC that pops into my head based on local histories and such, this idea has been bobbing about my head for a little while.

It disappoints me how much more attention other cities get when so much shit went down in my home city that isn't even uncommon knowledge at all!

So, allow me to dump this character and what they're based on here :3

Sometimes dubbed the "City of Caves", Nottingham has a vast network of caves under its medieval city borders. Even today, some homes and businesses have basements, storage areas and rooms built into the cave system. Although much of it has been blocked off due to private ownership disputes or for safety reasons, leaving many forgotten parts of the caves unexplored.

The caves were used for housing (good temperature regulation and water filtration because of the sandstone) as far back as when the Romans invaded Britain (and marched right past Nottingham because they spotted no hutts and so assumed no one lived there) and as recently as when Nottingham was a major industrial centre for Hosiery and lace in particular. When the slums were some of the densest in the British empire due largely to the cow barrons and wealthy lords not wanting to expand the city onto eitger their private scenary or what little commonland remained.

Baring in mind that many crammed into Nottingham for work because their means of sustainance were seized through enclosure, forcing them to instead have to buy food and thus need to seek wage labour to pay for it. So the few people who retained there commonland had the slums to look forward to if theirs was seized, even if it would mean more space for them and existing wage-workers to live on.

The caves also made good spaces for tanning leather. With the smell of noxious gas from the faecal matter used in the process able to be somewhat contained in the cave, making it bareable. The stench was apparently bad enough to deter plague-carrying rats, lessening the impact of the Black Death on Nottingham.

In medieval times it was more economical for nobility to construct their own lodgings where events and business would take place, rather than travel to there from a larger estate. Nottingham, for a time, was a garden town inhability mainly by wealthy socialites which regularly congregated in and around Nottingham castle.

St. Ann's well (famed for its clean water),the romantic, forested grotto around it and the nearby meadows which were home to rare species of crocus flowers that granted famous beauty to Nottingham until the meadows' demolition post-WW2 to construct much needed council housing.

Nottingham was beautiful and, while its guild of weavers and its tanneries go back hundreds of years, it was about to become notably industrious too.

The dank marshland nearby also acted as a good area to dye clothing. So when the cottage industry of yarn-spinning, weaving, hosiery and lacemaking was scaled up, the entire process of clothesmaking could be performed in Nottingham rather than each step outsourced between different cities.

However, the afforementioned slums, the driving down of yarn prices and wages through implementing machinery (starting with William Lee of Calverton's stocking frame, and James Hargreaves' spinning Jenny succeeded by Richard Arkwright's spinning frame), mass production of yarn outcompeting cottage yarn spinners and forcing them to change trade to hosiery and such instead, raised food prices due to increased demand and food supplies being redurected to thecwar effort against Napolian, all culmonated in horrendous overcrowded conditions which had Nottingham's average life expectancy lay between 14 and 18 years. Understandably, riots occured regularly and ignited the Luddite movement to be borne in Nottinghamshire and violently dismantle the machinery which enabled the snowballing poverty of the area and era.

Eventually, Landlords conceided to the necessity for expansion into the greenspace and accomodate Nottingham's large population. Over the years, Nottingham has diligently built and maintained council housing for its residents (although the destruction of the more medieval areas to erect the Broadmarsh shopping centre was frankly a stupid, unwanted decision that met no need as it was completed in the midst of the 70s' economic recession) and diversified its economy, like the rest of Britain, towards service industries.

Nowadays Nottingham is not seen in the greatest light. Except with regards to its two universities, which saw the invention of the MRI machine and is seen as aspirational to attend.

A couple points that didn't really fit in this ramble were:

.Robin Hood's tale is set in Nottingham even if the man himself is contested to come from York or elsewhere. The outlaw is still a fitting mascot, given the Luddite movement and the city's generally rebellious history

.Many poets and writers are from here (D.H. Lawrence, Lord Byron, and Alan Sillitoe, for example)

.Notts is seen as pretty chavy and the Nottingham accent (regardless of what economic class you are) always sounds as such, and is known for its knife crime. Was briefly dubbed "Shottingham" when Birmingham city council evicted its violent gangs and forced them into Nottingham to continue their business there instead

That ramble aside, if Nottingham was personified like the countries in Hetalia, they would be as follows:

.Have beautiful hair which represents the meadows, and is in a buzzcut in modern day. Often covered by a hood to represent the demolition of the meadows in favour of shelter and warmth (hence the hood, which provides both, and as an omage to Robin Hood)

.They are a stinky (because of the tanneries) little cave gremlin called "Snotingaham" (an earlier name for the city, dubbed so because it was ruled by a Saxon Chiefton named "Snot". Before then it was "Tig Guocobauc" - Brittonic for 'place of cave dwellings') mockingly by the other cities

.Cosplayer who makes their own clothes from scratch

.A Robin Hood superfan

.Broke af so crochets and knits gifts for peoples' birthdays instead of buying anything

.A great poet who moreso does rap and slam poetry in modern day, but will sneak away to what remains of Sherwood Forest or the few sites rare crocuses can still be found to write whimsical poetry in private

.Is very feisty and inclined to smash sh!t if someone mistreats either themselves or others (smashing like a Luddite or stabbing (knife crime)). Despite their "Shottingham" nickname they actually have stormtrooper aim are generally inept with guns

Kings and Queens have ruled the world since a long time and just right now not much has changed. Nobody is noticing that something is brewing behind the pictures but rumors are fast – the King got a death threat. Everybody is on high alert until one evening when the King decided to sneak out of the palace to have some time and to get his head clear. That was the biggest mistake he ever did because the person who wants him dead is using that moment to kill him. The King got stabbed and ended up in a hospital to recover but no matter what the doctor's tried, the King died and with that, a lot is about to change. From one day to another, the throne is there to be filled by someone who is noble-minded and loyal to their country. Intrigues will be spun, rumors are spread but in the end, everything will come to light and the right King or Queen will reign the country in honor and full of trust...

Please, please no ooc drama. If you have any issues with someone or something come to me and we’ll talk it out. If I notice any drama at all the person will be warned. If it’s not stopping, the person will be kicked out immediately.

IC drama, on the other hand, is very much encouraged. Mayor plot lines like death, pregnancy, drug-addiction (i know it can be part in a muse’ s life but I also know that people can be affected by it), rape must be talked about it with me beforehand.
