Okay breaktime. So

I feel like it would be interesting if Rodaine was taken to Ostagar just as a regular mage combatant instead of a Grey Warden, he somehow met up with Carver or found Aveline and Wesley on the road (maybe he got nabbed and was biding his time to find a chance to bonk Wesley upside the head and run away) but either way he runs into the Hawke family and whether he introduces himself as an Amell or not, they're certainly not turning away another apostate (I do feel like it'd be fucking wild if they didn't realize they were related until Leandra is like "We'll go to kirkwall, my family were nobles there" and Rodaine is like "wait a second, me too.")

Maybe with an extra mage I could justify Beth surviving lmao but either way... Rodaine is wary of Flemeth but since there's no other apparent way out, well... take the chance where you can get it. Maybe she's feeling extra generous and somehow manages to work some magic that prevents rodaines phylactery from bring used to track him. If he was captured by Wesley, he might take the opportunity to kill him bc A templar, B well he's literally asking for it and we don't have time to deal with a blighted guy, lemme stab him (one of the few times Tierce has more tact than Rodaine lmao)

In Kirkwall I think he's more involved with the Mage Underground than the game lets Hawke be. He'd also help study up on Kirkwall law so that Leandra can get the Amell estate back. He'd struggle a lot with Sebastian, Aveline, and Fenris. He would be fascinated with Merrill's whole deal and he of course would be close with Anders and help out in the clinic a lot. He'd tag along with Tierce for anything he might need like any other da2 companion but he'd find plenty of other things to get up to, like finding his sister in the Gallows.

So there’s this moment in Get Back that I can’t find a gif of anymore, where John and Paul are doing one of their versions of Two of Us in funny voices (second part, January 25th). And Paul’s all crinkly-eyed and beaming, and John is smiling back at him before he seems to get self-conscious about it and glances at the camera.

And I find that moment more intriguing than some of the more overt “what is going on with these people” stuff in the documentary, because John obviously isn’t self-conscious about singing in funny voices, and there are other scenes where they’re smiling or laughing, so while it could be “in the middle of our bit, I remember that I’m mad at Paul and it kills the vibe”, it feels more like, “I’m stupidly fond of this idiot, and I’m worried about how visible that is to the cameras.” I almost never look at pictures or clips of people smiling at their friends and think, “ah, how romantic,” because real people do smile at their friends and find them endearing/amusing, but if you’re not comfortable with your affection for a friend... what does that imply? I’m sure there are other explanations, but it does seem to jibe with the idea that John has some unwanted or unrequited feelings and that this is a major factor underpinning the weird vibes and the “I must have Yoko with me 24/7″ choices.
