hello hello!! this is like a loooong month ago prompt, and I feel somewhat inspired so - let's try this! for our babies <3

title: little mundane moments.

pairing: daniel x nelly. (@sosolenoo oc!)

Daniel just stepped into the room, with a lunch bento box ready for them. And all the he was met with, a mess of couture all over. There's a chuckle escaped his lips, before he skips over the pile of clothes.

Nelly's eyes light up at the sight of him, as she turns to place her tools down. The mannequin stands beside her tall, and almost halfway clothe, as Daniel eyes it with somehow cluelessness and intrigue. He never understood what she does, but he always liked looking at the results and also, being her cheerleader, and provider of food during this trying times.

"how's the deadline looking?"

'average-ly well." She sighs, gesturing the room filled with every clothing related item. Daniel joins in, before smiling back at her.

"well, I come bearing distractions and good food. Let's go." He pulls out the bento boxes he prepared earlier. She accepts the other box in hand, as they stepped out of the room. They both sat side by side, over their balcony; with both bento boxes in hand, overlooking the scenery outside.

"wait, a sec. I forgot something." Daniel interrupts before leaving his spot for one split second, as tunes begin to play in the background.

Nelly founds herself smiling at the recognizable tune in the back, before Dan winked at her.

"it wouldn't be a lunch date without our song." He adds before scooting closer to her. They both begins to eat whilst letting the time goes by together; it's always something they would do. No matter how busy they get, they will always find a way for these little mundane moments before the chaos takes over.

As they both finished cleaning up afterwards, he walks her back to the room. They stopped at the front door, he'll let her work again, and they'll do it all over again. He needs to tend a record shop for the night, and she'll create more ideas. A little farewell before they see each other again, somehow a bit dramatic but it's theirs.

He begins to caress her hands a little before pulling her close into a hug.

"you're almost there, you can do this." The words left his lips, as his arms tighten around her. He kisses her hair, before pulling away again. Nelly smiles in between, before raises her toes to pull him into a kiss of their own. It feels perfect, before they both went their separate ways for the day.

These little mundane moments in between the minutes and the hours of the day, is not so little anymore. And it's okay, because in the end; they'll always find each other again in between their routine.

talking on the phone to someone with a horrible head cold. you can hear every little thing as their symptoms filter through the receiver - the thickness in their voice, the congestion rattling their coughs. maybe even the occasional squelch as they pinch and rub their streaming nose between their thumb and index finger. they try to move away from the phone to sneeze but their movements are saturated by such misery that they can barely grab a tissue in time to muffle the sound. they get out a soft, embarrassed, “pardod mbe” before blowing their nose, which only seems to trigger another set of sneezes. only this time, they’re entirely too worn out to cover them.

okay i just marathoned the entirety of ATLA live action & i might do an actual review of it explaining my thoughts more in depth, but the TLDR version basically boils down to this:

#i was trying to keep an open mind & all that cuz of OPLA (my beloved) but. holy shit it was actually worse than i expected :/ #like what were they thinking. did they use AI to write this or are the writers just like. really shitty #notes: they linger too much on random bullshit & refuse to move character development along #they tell when they should be showing & when they DO show it's for stuff that benefited from brief environmental storytelling in the OG #the plot drags so hard it was basically stagnant #there were some fun things but like. those things could've been funner if they'd been given the time other useless stuff was taking up #they changed so many minor details that really don't matter in order to make them more important #but this failed spectacularly because now there's just. stupid bullshit clogging up the plot?? #instead of having 10 minute monologues 3 times an episode about plot irrelevant things #they should have taken a page out of the original's book & kept minor details to a minimum & focused on ACTUAL PLOT #SO MUCH CGI. LIKE I KNOW THEY NEED IT BUT COME ON. EVEN THE CHARACTERS?????? WHO ARE JUST STANDING THERE???????? #they were given 8 hours & almost all of it was Aang angsting (lol) over being the avatar & not practicing actual bending #& then they ended the plot too early so they had to fill in the last like 20 minutes with something else #so they made up random lore that literally makes no sense. & overexplained all of it to the point i was blanking out from boredom #i think this is why i didn't enjoy Korra. they over explain the spirit world stuff & avatar powers & bending #that plus i just don't vibe with the aesthetic #being a writer is a curse because when i dislike something it's because i know exactly what went wrong & why #it's always with the analyzing & the judging & the internal note taking #even when i really try i can't just enjoy shit for fun

i like house it’s a good show so far but i dislike that they’re doing story arcs spanning multiple episodes i liked the first half of season 1 more where it was just a different undiagnosable patient every episode and house wandering around saying mean things to people and having banter with wilson it was entertaining. which i mean it’s still like that but with extra stuff that i don’t particularly care for

Jon's lighter is such an important plot point, and an aesthetically beautiful object. The way its meaning is written in us so subtle and powerful! I didn't think about it much outside of its plot relevance, but since I started using a zippo lighter myself, I've thought about it a lot more.

The most notable difference between a zippo and a cheap plastic lighter is the amount of care and maintenance required. You wouldn't think it, I certainly didn't consider it, but there is some amount of effort to keeping it working! Refilling the lighter fluid every week or so, and even changing out the wick if you have to! And it's not necessarily needed, but I like to clean off the metal to make sure it doesn't tarnish.

Now the interesting thing here is that means Jon was actively taking care of a Web aligned artifact. Of course, the tape recorders too but its not exactly like they were given much care; the lighter however, was. Jon definitely seemed to like it, he managed to hold onto it for years, even through the literal apocalypse, so keeping it going must've been of importance to him. There's something interesting about how fostering a connection to such an object could inadvertently foster your connection to the being itself.

Alternatively, perhaps the lighter never needed any looking after! Maybe all that time Jon has an obviously magical lighter but there was just so much going on that he never considered it really should have run out of lighter fluid after a couple of years.

Either way, the Web clearly has good taste when it comes to gifts, even if they end up being the thing that finally kills the recipient.

Talk Shop Tuesday: What's one story concept that you really want to write someday but just can't quite yet? Why haven't you started writing it yet?

Oooh that’s an excellent question! I’ve been keeping track of the stories I’ve been meaning to finish but it’s been a while since I’ve thought about what I’ve been meaning to start. I think the best answer is my original fiction fantasy ideas!

I’ve had several floating around in my head for a while (mentally ill lighthouse keeper meets injured selkie, sorcerers with different views on magic on different sides of a war, magic cowboys, guy realizes his girlfriend is fae and neither of them knew, etc), but none of them have really got beyond the daydreaming phase yet. It’s partly that I haven’t done original fiction in ages and am not quite sure how to start and stay motivated, and partly that many of them would be novel-length and I don’t really have the time or energy to plot and research a novel-length story at the moment! But I really like a lot of the concepts and I hope to work on them properly one day :D
