And to add insult to injury, the night before my sister and I had had a talk about “ohh yea I think some of the Akazaya 9 will probably die. I think Ashura Doji is actually dead, and some of the others will probably die too”

So, we were sad, but we also agreed that “Kin’emon is like definitely safe.” “He’s been with us for like half the series now, hey can’t just kill him.” “He just HAS to see the land of Wano opened up, his life has been pretty much nothing but tragedy.” “He’s the best and we love him. He deserves a happy ending”

But no. Then they hit me with the father-son feelings he had developed towards Momo!?!??? WHAT!?!! YOU CANNOT DO THAT TO ME ISTG!!!

And Kiku, too! My sister is trans and she was very upset cuz she loooves Kiku and gets very happy whenever we see her fight and-

Oden & Akazaya Nine

I think what I loved about the relationship of Oden and the Akazaya Nine (9 Scabbards) the most is that they don't feel like a group but more so like a family. Sure, Kinemon and the other Scabbards serve Oden and the Kozuki family but that doesn't mean that each of the Scabbards doesn't speak their mind whenever they feel the need to.

They all lived under a house together for years and grew up together with Oden as their big brother figure. Not only did the Scabbards watch Oden grow as a person and leader but Oden also watched his retainers (who were all weak at first except Ashura) grow into strong and dependable samurai who can more than just hold their own in a fight.

Oden accepted every member of the Scabbards for who they are and I think him saving Nekomamushi, Inuarashi, and Kawamatsu from being burned alive makes that very clear.

He didn't care that Nekomamushi and Inuarashi are minks and that Kawamatsu is a fishman. He could tell that they're just helpless children. Oden hates discrimination so much that he beat up the people who tried to set them on fire.

He also basically adopted the street orphans Izo and Kiku.

He even accepted Kanjuro even though Kanjuro introduced himself as some weirdo is stealing hair in order to make brushes.

Even though Oden clearly didn't like it whenever a new member began following him, he just couldn't say no and took them in, fed them, and gave them a home.

Oden loved the Scabbards so much that he was willing to hold them all up on a plank for an hour while he's being boiled alive in oil for the entire time during their execution so that none of them gets hurt/dies. That's a whole nother level of loyalty.

That's why I hate it whenever I see people say "why do the Scabbards love Oden so much, they don't owe him anything". BRUH. He accepted them back then they were a bunch of loners, took them in, fed them, and gave them a home. He even sacrificed his life and went through the worst kind of pain (boiled in oil) just for the sake of saving all of them.

OF COURSE they would and should love him. Just like Oden loved them. The Scabbards owe Oden everything, and he owes them everything. Oden loved the Scabbards as much as they loved him, they were one big family who were supportive to each other. They all had a ride or die mentality. And that's why they will always be one of my favorite groups/families in the entire series.

got me emotional too because i remember they met half of kinemon in punk hazard, met momonosuke and asked them for a help to rescue a friend (i dont want to write his name because i hate him lmao) 

remembering kinemon and the little momonosuke asked for a help, got me crying hard. they been through so much, but the suffering has ended.
