The Akazaya headcanon weeks, Day 4: Kanjuro

Prompt question: Is there something they secretly wish they could do but are too afraid to?

My take:

Kanjuro is not afraid to do many things. He has few self-preservation instincts and he lost much of his identity and will to live when his parents were killed. Fear is insignificant to him and he often will disregard it entirely for the purpose of carrying out a performance. Still, there are definitely things that he might wish to do deep down, but would never admit to - not because of fear, but rather, because it’s just easier to ignore those wishes and focus on acting.

The first, big wish that he could have deep down is one that he carried on-and-off throughout all the years that he spent with the Akazaya. Although he knew it was all just an act on his side, at times, when he could really feel their friendship and care, Kanjuro would secretly and briefly wish for it all to be real. He would, sometimes, become even jealous of the character he created, Evening Shower Kanjuro. After all, Evening Shower Kanjuro has friends. Kurozumi Kanjuro… does not have friends, does not have an identity, and he cannot even think about it, focused on revenge.

As expressed by Kanjuro himself, his only wish was to avenge his parents and then die. Unfortunately, he was simply too broken to think about the future or any other wishes. Still… If Kanjuro had anything like a semblance of another life goal or dream, it would be to open up a theatre. Acting there, he could fulfill his purpose, his passion, and preserve the legacy of his parents. On very rare occassions, Kanjuro might even daydream about its design, possible play stagings, and how he could paint all the props and decorations for it.
