Good Omens Fic + Poetry | Personal Recommendation Masterlist
I said I'd do it, so I'm doing it. For both myself, and so others can enjoy! I'll try to tag the original authors and link any secondaries/people who recommended me the stories!
If you feel so inclined, you may read my own (very long, very angsty) fic: Dubious Excerpts from the Chonicles of a Demon (Retired)
To clarify: this list is going to be a collection of stuff I've personally read/been recommended. I'll try to make sure to tag everyone who owns the fics (if they have a Tumblr) and the people who recommended them to me (if at all). I'll update this list as I go, and might start sorting things into their own posts if it starts to get too long. I'm not going to be able to tag all warnings, so PLEASE HEED the A03 tags!
This list is not meant to play favorites! If I read it and enjoyed it, it will be going on this list. That means the quality may vary, but I think everyone should have a chance to have their work seen! Inevitably though, I will have my favorites, and if I ABSOLUTELY think you should read one, I'll mark in in Green. Everything else will be in Orange for visibility. Anything with NSFW Content will be marked with a (!!!).
If you would like to recommend me a fic (self-promotes welcome and encouraged!), feel free to drop a recommendation here, DM me, or send me an ask if you want to remain anonymous! If you don't see your's here, I haven't gotten to it yet!

Nik! Did you watch Rebel Moon? How was it?
Tumblr media
Yes hello this is my 4 star review of rebel moon on letterboxd.
But first: a professional, somewhat critical review of rebel moon that engages with the film well, especially regarding anti-colonial themes, and isn't just knee-jerk regurgitated Snyder haterism:
And now more of my thoughts: [edit: Oh No, He Went And Talked For 3 Hours About It, Thanks For Coming To My TedTalk:)
Tumblr media
No one has a better knack at putting together a cast list SO ATTRACTIVE TO THE BISEXUALS. read it and weep, boys. (Jena Malone is there too but really just for 1 set piece)
...Jena Malone's one (1) scene set piece features her as an alien spider woman with legitimate grievances against the Empire who now wants to kill kids because all her kids were killed. Like, so valid, girl. Also, did I say Jena Malone as an alien spider-woman? And this is just one scene.
Look, if that pitch doesn't hook you, this film may not be for you, and that's okay, but by GOD my people are the people who hear "Jena Malone alien spider woman" and perk up. I love you, freaks.
The cinematography is ace and always will be under Snyder's direction. music by Tom Holkenborg SLAPS. Costuming and design overall is super super strong. (People on this hellsite are always complaining about inadequate, boring as hell sci-fi design and you get RM and you don't appreciate it for what it is. WAKE UP.)
Costume showcase! Second from the right in this photo showing off those sweet sweet sci-fi costume designs is my beloved non-binary they/them revolutionary Milius. CANONICALLY non-binary, let me add. Imagine SW doing that lmaoooooooooooo D*ve Filoni would fuckin keel over and die
Tumblr media
Kora! Our tragic female protagonist of color who's over 40, with a dark edgy sexy background. [KIDNAPPED AS A CHILD!! DEAD FAMILY!!! DEAD LOVER!!!!!!! SHE FAILED TO PROTECT HER WARD FROM ASSASSINATION!!!!! SHE IS THE MOST WANTED WOMAN IN THE UNIVERSE!!]
Bitches on tumblr LOVE taking failmen with sad backstories from media and blorbifying them, but the second it's a woman? please. If this was a man people would be writing the filthiest x reader smut you've seen since Mandalorian S1 came out. If this was a man you'd already have seen 20,000 fan drawings of her with her muscles and tits OUT. God where's my Kora fanart.
I personally have no problems with the plot of this movie (part 1 of 2) being "we must collect warriors to fight the evil empire." That's kinda fantasy story 101 and I still love new, varied interpretations of that plot.
If there's not much interconnecting plot because Kora's just gathering fighters, it's kinda like... that's the point, babes, they'll actually get to it in part 2. We're just at the "forming the team" stage. I revel in that part of a fantasy film and I always want it to be longer, so this film is like catnip to me.
Uh, yeah, this is getting long. More under the cut.
Entertainment professional nitpick time! I've seen someone say RM would be better as a TV show to introduce a new character each episode. And I truly don't think that fixes any of the problems this person has with the film, while introducing way more problems. (Who the fuck would go in on an original concept TV show where each episode introduces a new hero. You could not sell that pitch to a studio, ever, and viewers would instantly check out if they didn't like the introduced character of the week, and the same complaints would be made: it’s just a new character intro blah blah blah. This wouldn’t fix anything! It would very much make it worse!)
Me, like every day, through gritted teeth: that's... not... how... tv... works...
Like be realistic for a hot second with me. Television is not "long movie"—it is a different medium with different rules. Yes, the past decade has blurred many lines between TV and film, but they're still different mediums, and when people blur them ("it's a 10-hour movie!") the results often suck ass, because you either lack episodic structure or you lack feature structure. Snyder is a feature filmmaker who has never worked in TV. Whenever features people jump into TV, it's a whole other learning curve! They're usually terrible at it! You want Snyder to have to learn a new medium? You want him to learn 5/6-act TV structure from scratch? You want him to (horrified gasp) lead a writers room? Those are not his strengths, baby. Let him play in his space opera sandbox.
And I'm not done! You want the casting team to have to deal with the headache of getting feature film actors to star in a TV show? (Pay cuts! Longer commitments! TV production timelines!) You want to do that to me, personally, and fuck up the TV landscape some more by going, "Oh, we can basically just make a Longer Feature Film in TV"? Fuck off with that. TV has different production realities and different basic story structures. A [long] film [with two parts] is still a film, in structure and production practicalities.
Truly, Tumblr media studies brains (derogatory) at it again.
To each their own, but again, I think RM's structure is fun because it gives me more of the goodies (badass, varied character intros) for the price of one (2-hour film.) Like... that's the good stuff, that's often the most exhilarating part of a film for me. And contrary to popular belief, it's not intro to intro without rising tension or stakes. It builds tension as it goes because new facets of resistance against the Motherworld are explored in each character's intro scene. New ways they fight back, new worlds on which they fight back. And a ticking time bomb of the King's Gaze (king's gays lol) catching up.
Here, have a trailer bc Tumblr's mad at me for too much text in one block.
youtube
...I like the RM characters. I want to spend time with them and see what other zany shenanigans Snyder will have them do. (Alien bar fights! Taming a space gryphon! Lightsaber battle!) I like the side-quest-y, exploratory, space opera sandbox playground nature. It's fun, and like, again, if you don't perk up at the concept of collecting cool characters like action figures, this film may just not be for you.
To me it's a polycule. Like, the most messed up polycule in the whole galaxy, but it's a polycule.
Speaking of: THE CHARACTERS ROCK. Yeah, we're missing some significant character development because Netflix truncated Snyder's 4-hr, R-rated film into a 2-hr PG-13 version (likely to be able to release the 4-hr cut later, drum up new press, and get more eyeballs on the movie in total in a few months.) That's... not really Snyder's fault [even though he claims he's in on the plan... some part of me thinks it was Netflix's idea and not his. Stinks of studio meddling.] And it's not indicative of the quality of the actual film, which I currently see as more of an abridged version of the R-rated film that's gonna come out and fill up some of these story holes.
If people are judging the film for not being the 4-hour version, and then decide not to see the 4-hour version, that's their call, but it's kinda shitty to act like the 2-hr version is all there is. Like it probably wasn't Snyder's call to do a 2-hr cut! He's said that the 4-hr one is a whole different movie. I betcha the common criticisms (not enough character development, just jumps from character intro to character intro without interconnection, lack of structure) will be helped, if not outright solved, by the longer cut.
I think people are also happy to take a Part 1 of a movie if it's, say, Dune, and the source material has another part, so Part 1 is allowed to be fucking boring, whereas people don't give that kind of allowance to original sci-fi movies, WHICH IS A REASON WE DON'T GET ORIGINAL SCI-FI. If you're painting with as huge and cosmic a palette as space opera Rebel Moon, the 4-8 hours total across the 2 four-hour parts is kinda bare minimum for an epic. So... patience is a virtue? Let part 1 have elements of IT'S KIND OF A PROLOGUE?
What's that saying? If you want the rewards of space opera worldbuilding with an ensemble cast, you must submit to the mortifying ordeal of 2 hours of setup. Geez. Enjoy the wacky exposition or get out of the space opera genre.
Yeah, that leads me to the point of people who don't enjoy space opera are getting mad at RM for fulfilling the promises of the genre. You might truly be happier elsewhere. The whole thing is over-the-top, huge-scale MELODRAMA and I thrive on melodrama. If it's too cheesy for you, don't come to space operas!!!!!!!
On that note, people have said RM is too tropey and too Star Wars-y. But like I said. If you don't love the tropes get out of the genre!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you aren't here for bloodier/hornier Star Wars get out of RM!!!!
Another big idea I would be remiss to skip over. RM is an explicitly, deliberately anti-colonial, anti-imperial text—far, far more so than any other mainstream sci-fi currently being released. Well-intentioned liberals love to tout Star Trek/Star Wars as progressive media but they really hedge and defang all their political commentary, especially in their 21st century franchise form—think the SW sequels/shows straight up woobifying K*lo Ren in realtime and the Trek shows that (while fun!) are really often just nostalgia bait.
RM is pretty fucking radical. Its theme basically is Kill Nazis—or in expanded form, something along the lines of "The empire will eat up everything of value in the universe unless it is met with unified armed resistance built on solidarity."
And just look at RM's casting. We're not colorblind here; we're very color-conscious. (That's a rant for another day, but I've really started to despise colorblind casting for its extremely well-intentioned-liberal "we're all the same" mentality. It just winds up erasing.) Anyway: RM features the explicitly American-English-Afrikaans empire vs. the Algerian Amazigh protagonist, Black freedom fighters, Japanese revolutionary... and like. Snyder's always gonna be into Vikings so obviously we have Space Vikings too, whatever. Look at me, I can criticize Snyder too! The Poor Sad Space Vikings are not the strongest part of the film!
...Anyway of course the empire vs. revolution is absolutely kind of Star Wars-y since RM is highkey Snyder's Star Wars, but it goes so much further than SW dreamed (or, perhaps, nightmared). SW's rebels/resistance continually get defanged because they're kind of foundationally space magic/singular hero's quest deals, and modern SW with the exception of Rogue One/Andor is just politically, socially stupid. In contrast, RM is about forming a coalition, without something like the Force to help you out. I could write an essay on the ways RM starts in the same place Star Wars starts but takes its politics so much more seriously, so much further.
While I'd argue "good politics" and "artistic quality" rarely correlate, RM is explicitly and doggedly a text about the colonial empire that exploits, enslaves, abuses, and seeks to utterly control marginalized people groups in its quest for domination—and god, I would LOVE to see a resurgence in very fanged, very angry political sci-fi.
One more aside. Snyder has been rightfully criticized for his earlier works basking in fascist-adjacent, hypermasculine aesthetics; 300 is notably super duper racist in how it depicts savage/monstrous Persians vs. Beautifully Good White Spartans Defending Their Culture. (more on "300 Bad" stored up in my brain if anyone wants THAT rant.) To Snyder's credit, none of his films since 300 have really done that—parts of Batman v Superman and his cut of Justice League purposefully poke fun at it. The hypermasculinity is kinda still there, but it's subsumed in the service of melodrama and mythic-flavored cinema, and it's kinda a staple of the action genre anyway, and if you're gonna criticize Snyder without criticizing EVERY ACTION MOVIE EVER, that's just more regurgitated Snyder haterism.
No one is doing mythic action like Snyder these days. No one has the balls and the command of melodrama & operatic visuals. And it comes clearly from Snyder's background in art & art history because all his shots are jam-packed with symbolism and meaning and allusion. So criticize the film for its weaknesses if you like but geez, if I see another post railing about the lack of CRAFT in RM, I will start biting. ALMOST NO BLOCKBUSTER HAS THIS LEVEL OF CRAFT. It's okay that you don't understand visual storytelling, babygirl, but please don't accuse Snyder of lacking craft.
Sorry, you've triggered Cinema Defense Mechanisms in me, I'm gonna have to sit down for a while after this.
I have more takes. Takes hot enough to fuel the King's Gaze (king's gays lol.) But I'll end with a funny observation: I transed my gender (cheers, shouts, hoorays) just about the time I was getting ready to watch Rebel Moon, and in one shocking, epiphanic moment I turned to my partner and went "Of COURSE I'm a man. I like Zack Snyder." So........... do with that what you will.

Random TF 141 + friends headcanons (Pt.4)
Tumblr media
Warnings: mentions of drinking
• Rodolfo was that one kid who thought chocolate milk came from brown cows. Alejandro constantly teased him about it for years
• You know those protein bars you can buy at like every corner store? Yeah, Gaz hates them with passion and would rather starve than eat one
• As a kid, König only ate apples if they were cut into slices
• Soap particularly loved painting when he was a kid, the passion for arts has always been present in his life
• If Farah didn't do what she does as a living, she'd love to have her nails done professionally. She's always loved the idea of low-key but well-made and beautiful pieces, but never had the chance to wear them
• Valeria only uses one specific brand of nail polish. That's the only one she trusts and knows won't get ruined, even when doing stuff she usually does (running errands etc)
• The iPhone morning alarm sound gives Gaz heart attacks no matter how many times he hears it. It's literally the flashback meme for him
• Laswell doesn't like driving. She does travel by car to work and usually she's the one behind the wheel when going somewhere with her wife (she's an acts of service type of person), but she doesn't particularly enjoy it
• Rodolfo hates strong smells like gasoline or bleach. Naturally he got used to them fast, but that doesn't mean they don't bother his nose
• König has the full collection of those colorful McDonald's glasses (the Fifa World Cup 2018 ones)
• Ghost rarely drinks to begin with, but he has a specific dislike for beer. Don't know where it came from, he just doesn't like the taste
• Nikolai has such a high alcohol tolerance there isn't anyone who comes near his level on the team. The closest anyone has ever been to beating him was when Price and Laswell managed to keep up with him for a while, but then both of them ended up knocked out on the counter. Nik had to take them home and the next day he didn't stop teasing them about it
• Back to my Hay Day dumbassery for a second - somehow Valeria's level passed everyone in a couple of weeks and you better believe Alejandro was super jealous. Unsurprisingly, Soap and Gaz also argued about it
• Horangi didn't even know the game until he saw König play one day. The latter finds it quite relaxing, especially because of the animals and chance to decorate. He's that one player who has a bunch of decorations all over his farm, somehow looking horribly out of place yet put together at the same time. He's also the friend who helps with requests and does the best he can at Valley season. He feels bad every time he can't feed his animals, so he always makes sure he has every crop and component needed for stuff he has to make. Sometimes the game stresses him out like that, but it's mostly to help his mind relax
• Horangi forgets to play a lot to be honest. He only started because König begged him until he gave in, but he can't be bothered enough to play all the time when off duty. Even then, his farm is simple but effective: buys only the stuff he needs and doesn't really care about additional details (yes, König takes offense to how plain his game looks)

TOP 3 Metal Albums I Enjoyed from 2023
A lot of great metal came out this year and it was hard to narrow it down to my Top 3. There were some great EPs released this year— Spiritbox’s The Fear of Fear, Brand of Sacrifice’s Between Death and Dreams and Knosis’s The Eternal Doom among them. Singles I enjoyed include: "On the Verge" by thrown, “Masterpiece” by The Anchor, “Enemy” by The Gentle Men (ft. Andy Cizek), “Weight of the World” by Harper (ft. We Came as Romans and Brand of Sacrifice), “Viking” by Slaughter To Prevail, "III" by DEATHPHONK (Nik Nocturnal's weird project); and Knocked Loose had the double, “Deep In the Willow”/“Everything is Quiet Now”.
My Top 5 honourable mentions: 5. [m]other by Veil of Maya, their newest does everything I want it to do, good riffs, cool effects, great vocals; 4. Soul Elegy by Termina, Nik Nocturna, Andy Cizek and friends deliver an awesome metal album; 3. Chaos Horrific by Cannibal Corpse is a strong entry and shows why they're still so loved after so long; 2. The Fox and the Bird by Ok Goodnight mixes folk, rock, metal and whatever else they want to create this really entrancing album; and 1. Take Me Back to Eden by Sleep Token is one of the albums I listened to the most because it's easy to put on when you're tired of being relentlessly pummelled by deathcore, but though its highs are super high, it just misses out landing on my top 3 because there are a few spots it lags
3. ...And Everything In Between - Unprocessed
Manuel Gardner Fernandes has quickly become one of my favourite guitarists between this release and Unprocessed's previous album Gold. The combination of styles on this album exemplify modern metal: bludgeoning heaviness, thumpy prog riffing (à la Animals As Leaders or Polyphia) and a mix of harsh and clean vocals. Despite the polish of these 9 tracks, some express such raw emotion and a ferocity that they really get me hyped up. The variety of tones and vocals kept me engaged throughout, and they blend and balance heaviness and melody so well. The guitar sounds so angry sometimes–especially the part of "Thrash" where Manuel beats the shit outta his guitar after screaming, "But you're just a fucking lie!" I love that. Other songs like "Blackbone" and "Die on the Cross of the Martyr" continue the trend of excellent instrumentation, the latter featuring guest solos by Polyphia's Tim Henson and Scottie Lepage. It's so well done and so engaging. In the short time I've had this album, it's become one of my favourites of 2023.
2. Periphery V: Djent Is Not A Genre - Periphery
When Periphery released "Wildfire" as a single I immediately bought into what they were selling. The way they transition through the various parts is seamless, the mix of vocal techniques and the jazzy interlude are all fantastic. It really captures the spirit of the whole record. Songs like "Dying Star" and "Zagreus" are also so hard. Periphery continues to show off their musical dexterity, and the band members prove once again they're not only some of the best musicians djenting their way through the world but as a collective they add up to more than the sum of their parts. My hottest take when it comes to this album is that I love "Silhouette" — it's like if you ran 80s soft rock and 90s/00s boy bands through a progressive music filter. I think they wrote this song and put it on the album just to prove they can do anything. And if Periphery is Djent, and Djent isn't a genre then why shouldn't they go in every genre direction they want to explore?
1. War of Being - TesseracT
In other years this top 3 could have been entirely deathcore or melodeath or metalcore, but this year it was djenty prog metal through and through. It's the music I gravitated to the most this year and nobody did it better than TesseracT. Daniel Tompkins vocals are incredible throughout, his cleans sounding particularly great on "Echoes" – giving us one of the best choruses before following it up with another great one on "The Grey". The album offers engaging lyricism throughout and the instrumentation is at a pedigree one would expect for a band in the vanguard of this genre. The album gives us atmospheric moments, synths, meditative passages before blasting us with metal. In many ways the whole album does what the best tracks on Sleep Token's Take Me Back To Eden do. Each song and the album as a whole provide an expansive experience. And that's why it's my number one. More than any other album released this year, TesseracT's War of Being makes me want to sit down and listen to it from beginning to end.
Other great albums: SUPERBLOOM by Silent Planet; Fatalism by Polaris; Feral by Left To Suffer; Foregone by In Flames; Ashen by Humanity's Last Breath; The Sin of Human Frailty by END; Symptoms of Survival by Dying Wish; and The Death We Seek by Currents.

CYBERSIX LIVE ACTION AIRDATES!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Related to the airing of Cybersix's live-action adaption, this is what we can conclude:
3/4/96: Is the premier, the first episode airs! 10/4/96: the second episode airs and its thrilling conclusion. This is probably its tv advert, there was also one with Data7 but it seems like it was removed ;/ (srry for the pic quality lol) 17/4/96: the third episode airs and i have no idea which might be~~ 24/4/96: the forth episode airs at 11pm instead of its usual 9pm timeslot 'cause the qualifications for the 98 world cup are happening so we can easily know what episode will air. I swear someone must have tapped the match with the Cybersix ep next to it aaaaaa- 1/5/96: It's Labor Day so there wasn't newspapers. According to this, a new episode did aired so yeah xd (it's also Adrian's birthday uwo) 8/5/96: GOD FORBID I HAVE A COMPLETE COLLECTION OF ANYTHING CYBERSIX RELATED AMIRITE?? Some motherfucker rip almost a full week of specifically these tv timeslots, so ill see what i can do about it later </3 15/5/96: The final episode airs. Fortunally its been found and we now have confirmation that it is indeed, the last episode aired/produced?
As you can see, this gives us 7 episodes aired, not 8, so i dunno what up with that, but as far as ads and eps found, there are only 7 stories that were going to be told/adapted, so there we go!
But now, did I found other reports of Cybersix? Why, yes i did~~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With their respective translations next to them, the first is a short, general report that serves as advertisement to both the comics and tv show, in a segment dedicated to what's hip with the young adults of the time (mid-90s :v). The second one is reporting the cancellation and that it was that wednesday the airing of the final episode; its description confirms that the last episode is the recently found stunt double story
It'll be long till i go and research on the other archives or other newspapers about this show because remember, this was a side quest. My main objective is archiving and translating Irish Coffee 1997, but it's nice to contribute to fandom, specially with something lost media related xdd it's fun and i don't have to talk to a lot of people, y'know?
UPDATE (4/8/23): here is the 8/5/96 airdate from La Nacion :3. You can't really tell that is from may 5th, so you'll have to trust me on that one :v. i found out that there's a third hemeroteca in my city, so webos i'll go there next time and maybe have the Clarin version that is more clear~~
Tumblr media
I also found.... another something.... but that deserves its own post cause nik what the fu-

Klaus’s Pet
Summary: Klaus x Reader
Warnings: dirty language, smut, choking, spanking, teasing, punishment, little bit of everything
Chapter One:
Lorelei’s POV:
I walk in the middle of the right lane of the road and cross into Mystic Falls. My phone rings and I pull it out of my pocket.
Klaus.
I silence my phone and stick it back in my pocket.
I’m a little drunk after compelling drinks all night at the Mystic Grill and I’m hungry, looking for someone to sink my fangs into.
Stefan’s POV:
Damon and I walk towards the Mystic Grill when a familiar sound fills my ears.
It’s the sound of a vampire feeding.
I vamp speed to the alley to find a woman in dark clothes feeding on a man.
"Hey!" I call out
She doesn’t respond.
Annoyed, Damon rips her off of him and moves to kill her when something catches my eye.
Around the vampire’s neck is a collar with the letter M on it.
The Mikaelson Crest.
"Damon wait!" I say losing a hand up to stop him
He turns to me, curious and slightly irritated.
"What?" He says
"Stop. Don’t kill her."
"Why the hell not Stefan?"
"She’s a Mikaelson." I answer
He looks at me for a long moment then sighs and snaps her neck and picks her up.
"I’m never getting that drink." He mutters
Salvatore House:
Stefan thinks for a moment and dials a number.
"Stefan, I’m surprised to hear from you." A familiar voice says through the phone.
"Elijah. I found someone that might belong to you. She’s got the Mikaelson crest hanging from a collar around her neck. We found her moments before she killed someone walking in the street."
There’s silence for a moment.
"We will be there soon to collect her. And Stefan? Be careful. She’s a hybrid. She will rip you apart."
I take a moment for this to sink in. That makes 4 hybrids.
Tyler, Hayley, Klaus and whoever the woman in my basement is.
Loreili’s POV:
When I wake up I’m trapped in a cell. I let out a groan. I’m very familiar with the aftereffects of having my neck snapped.
"Who are you?" A voice asks
I look up to see the one and only Stefan Salvatore.
"That’s really none of your business now is it?"
"Considering your in a cell in my house I kind of think it is." He replies
Klaus POV:
I angrily pace back and forth. Where the hell is she? I pull out my phone and call Rebekah.
"What is it Nik?" She answers
"Have you seen Lorelei?" I ask
"Maybe you should keep your pet on a tighter leash Nik."
"Rebekah. Have you seen her or not?" I demand
"No Nik I haven’t. I’m in the French Quarter with Hayley. We’ll take a look around and get back to you."
I pace back and forth as she hangs up. It’d be useless to have Freya do a locator spell, she’s most likely cloaked. The phone rings a few moments later and I answer.
"She’s not here Nik."
"Maybe she ran off to the bayou." I say thinking aloud.
"You misunderstand. I had Vincent do a locator spell. She’s not in New Orleans. She’s in Mystic Falls." My sister explains
What could she possibly be doing in Mystic Falls?
Salvatore house:
Damon’s POV:
It takes 8 hours to get to Mystic Falls by car. At the 8 hour mark we move the mystery girl from the cellar to the living room and wait for whatever member of the Mikaelson clan is here to pick her up.
So far she hasn’t really spoken. She stands there completely still and I turn to grab a glass of bourbon.
Then it happens.
I turn when I hear Stefan cry out in pain, a bite mark on his arm. My eyes widen.
A werewolf bite.
Bites from a wolf are fatal to our kind and the one guy who could help is in Louisiana.
Suddenly the door swings open and a blurry figure speeds the girl away from Stefan and pins her to the wall by her throat.
The man has curled dirty blond hair and dark blue-green eyes. He wears a dark tan t-shirt and dark blue jeans.
Klaus Mikaelson.
My eyes widen in surprise. I look to my brother who has the same expression.
"That’s enough Lorelei." Klaus growls at her
Lorelei’s POV:
I try to move forward but Klaus turns his attention back to me and his grip tightens.
I grab at his fingers, trying to get him off me.
"Let me go Klaus!" I snap
He releases me and I glare at him.
"Don’t move." He orders coldly
I stand there and cross my arms over my chest.
Klaus turns to Stefan and catches sight of the bite. He turns back to me.
"You bit him?" He asks
I don’t respond.
He motions for Damon to hand him a glass and he does. Klaus bites his wrist drawing blood which he pours into the glass and gives to Stefan.
Stefan downs it and we all watch as the bite heals. Klaus turns his attention back to me.
"Get in the car. We’re leaving." He orders
"No." I reply
His eyebrows raise in surprise. I step closer to him, my wyes start glowing yellow in anger.
Klaus sees this challenging action and steps closer, inches from my face and pinning me against the wall again.
"You can come willingly or I can throw you over my shoulder kicking and screaming to the car." He says matter of factly
My eyes turn back to the normal green.
"These people are our allies Lorelei. You will not attempt to the harm them again. Do you understand?"
I look from him to the ground, a subtle sign of submission that he knows all too well. He backs up and extends an arm, letting me past.
I storm past and exit the house. I open the black sedan passenger door, sit and shut the door.
New Orleans:
I awaken and we are once again in New Orleans. The daylight burns my eyes. I’m more of a night person. I slide sunglasses onto my face and stare out the window.
Klaus opens the door and gets out and walks around to get me. He grabs me by the upper arm and we walk into to foyer of the Mikaelson Mansion. Leaves scatter along the concrete floor. There’s tables and chairs and a single red couch in the foyer.
"Freya has outlined the compound with a barrier spell. Since I cannot trust that you will stay here willingly, I will make sure you stay put."
"You’re trapping me in here?" I demand
"Yes."
"For how long?"
"As long as it takes."
Freya Mikaelson walks in, her hair is medium length and she wears a long sleeve black shirt, jeans and black boots. She walks into the foyer clearly on her way somewhere.
"Freya what the hell?" I call out to her
She holds her hand up in surrender as she continues walking.
"Don’t drag me into this."
With that, she walks out, past the gates and out into the street.
I turn back to Klaus.
"You can’t keep me here." I growl
"I already did love and it would be wise for you to obey me in the future." He warns coldly
I clench my fists, nails digging into my palms as I try to keep my anger at bay. But I’m pissed.
Who does he think he is to trap me in here? What makes him think I’m going to just blindly follow his orders?
"In case you’ve forgotten Nikklaus I’m not one of your sired mutts." I hiss
I see a spark of anger in his eyes. I clearly struck a nerve, just the way I intended.
He takes a step closer and I take a step back. He doesn't look angry now. Just cold, calculating, determining his next move.
"Careful Lorelei. I may not be your sire but I am your dom. Tread carefully love."
With that I disappear upstairs.
Klaus’s POV:
I let her go cool off. She's had a hard time with this transition. More than most.
Lorelei loved being a werewolf. When she had triggered her curse, it was in self defense protecting an innocent child. She's a good person but changing from wolf to hybrid triggered something dark in her.
I had anticipated this of course. What I hadn't was that she’d take off.
I let out a sigh and grab a bottle of burbon and pour myself a glass.
This is going to be a rough few weeks.

Blog #9 - Week 9
Kingdom Dance (Exhilarating #1)
I never linked the video to the song I’m using (starts around 0:29): https://youtu.be/Tpqpq0mPMl8?si=xuh11rlbCLs-tA_w
I finally finished the lighting design for Kingdom Dance to show Nik and Darrin. I got some notes about the colours so I changed things around a little and made the colour choices more coherent. I also added a little more pizazz at the end so there is a buildup of exhilaration. I hope it works in the capitol.
Light’s Project
Light asked if I could work on his project as well so now I have 4 projects to work on. This seems like quite a big project but Light’s ideas are very cool and I’m excited to work on it. His word is Surreal, which is not something I have worked with before but they have very clear ideas on what they want from the sound. Even the AI generated music didn’t sound bad so I think possibly I could work with AI or create something that sounds similar. I like the way he has used AI to create a stop motion video. I have seen videos like that on social media and they are always entertaining. It’s also pretty similar to Jo’s project so I get to learn a lot about what they’re doing which is great.
Upside Down People
I finished and downloaded the Pharos session to show Sara on Wednesday, hopefully she likes it. I have edited the scene so that the ceiling doesn’t light up the theatre too much. Sara prefers it darker to immerse everyone in the experience, which I completely agree with. Sara is going to send over the soundtrack that matches the opening scene hopefully this week so I will add that to the lighting if I can. Because Sara’s project is about her experience with autism, I want to research more about the autism spectrum to gain some more knowledge on the disorder. I know quite a bit from personal research but it would be beneficial to know more.
Jo’s Project
I have started to work on Jo’s project. I've collected some sounds that I think she will like so I will show her when I see her next. She gave me some information about what she might like:
Ambient, natural
Birds
Ocean
Water flowing
Natural chimes
Warmth, sun
Dynamic
Around 1 minute, max. 2 mins
I have done ambient sound before and it can be time consuming but I also find it very enjoyable to create! I really enjoyed the video Jo showed me of what the AI is able to create, I found it really cool because I haven’t worked with AI before but it’s definitely one of those things that is sticking around so it’s good that I am able to familiarise myself with a little bit of what it can do.
Research
Since Sara mentioned that her audience will be mostly autistic and neurodivergent and the need for the lights and sound to be quite low in brightness/volume, I was curious about the different ways people on the autism spectrum process sensory information. ‘Sensory perception in autism’ by Caroline E. Robertson & Simon Baron-Cohen talks about how 90% of people on the spectrum have differences in sensory processing including vision, hearing, touch, taste, and smell. ‘These differences can have a significant impact on an individual's daily life and may contribute to other symptoms of autism, such as social communication difficulties.’ Every person on the autism spectrum has different lived experiences but this article suggests that some autistic individuals have a ‘reduced strength of perceptual suppression’ meaning they can have a hard time suppressing a sense and when there are too many stimuli. For example, when someone is talking in the same area as loud construction work, an Autistic person may have difficulties with suppressing the sounds that they don’t want to hear so they are unable to hear the person talking to them. This is very helpful information for my work, I don’t want my lighting to be too distracting from Sara’s work so, like Sara mentioned, it’s important to keep the lighting basic but effective.

A Breath of Fresh Air Sept 11
Tumblr media
A Breath of Fresh Air With Sandy Kaye bombshellradio.com Tuesdays 1pm EST and Fridays 8pm EST English singer-songwriter, Nik Kershaw was a 1980s teen idol; he spent 62 weeks on the UK Singles Chart in 1984-5 and beat all other solo artists at the time. He appeared at Live Aid in 1985, and penned a number of hits for other artists, including a UK number one single in 1991 for Chesney Hawkes "The One and Only”. Nik played guitar and sang in a number of underground bands from 76 before deciding on a career as a songwriter. However, he ended up performing his own songs rather than giving them to others, and signed a record deal in 1983, which spawned a debut single, "I Won't Let The Sun Go Down On Me", which just missed out on the UK Top 40. At the beginning of 1984, he made his breakthrough when "Wouldn't It Be Good", which reached Number 4 in the UK charts. He enjoyed three more Top 20 hits from debut album Human Racing, including the title track and a successful re-issue of his debut single, which ultimately proved his biggest hit as a performer when it got to Number 2 in the UK. Nik won multiple awards and attracted admirers for his writing such as Elton John & Eric Clapton. He also gained a huge teenage fanbase, a phenomenon Nik says was extremely difficult to manage. When he released the single "The Riddle", fans, journalists and linguists were sent into overdrive, as each tried to figure out what the meaning was behind the strange set of circumstances and clues which Kershaw put in the verses and chorus (though it in fact later turned out to be hastily created nonsense). In 1985 Nik was among performers at Live Aid at Wembley Stadium. He tells us that performing there was one of the scariest days of his life. Soon after, Nik retired from recording music in favour of his original career path as a songwriter. His prowess as a songwriter served him well in 1991 when his song The One And Only, appeared on the soundtrack to the Brittish movie Buddy's Song and in the American film "Doc Hollywood", and provided a UK Number 1 single for the star of the film, Chesney Hawkes (son of the Tremeloes' Chip Hawkes). In 1993 The Hollies had a minor hit with another of his songs, The Woman I Love. 1999 saw the release of the Britpop-styled 15 Minutes; later on a collection of acoustic-led songs and 'EI8HT', a commercial MOR pop album. Nik released Oxymoron, in 2020 and is currently in the process of releasing a series of EPs, Songs from a Shelf. For more information visit the official site at http://www.nikkershaw.net Sandy Kaye [email protected] www.abreathoffreshair.com.au fb: sandykayepresents tw:@sandykpresents podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/a-breath-of-fresh-air/id1618650164

ENGINEERING CAMP DAY 6: Today was the last day of camp, with the checkout time being around 2:30. I woke up at 6:50 and did not sleep excellently obviously since I probably fell asleep at like 4 and was woken up by light and stuff. So I got up and packed up my stuff and me and my roommate took our sheets downstairs and then I went to Mrs. E’s. I was the first one there today probably because others were still packing up but Nik and Saranya and arrived and when Nik was gone Saranya asked me “isn’t he fine?” to which I said I agreed and it was like obviously she wasn’t going to make a move but she joked especially much with him today about her annoying him and him bullying her and she asked “are we like this?” (and did this-🤞 ) many times. I also talked with Nik about sneaking out and stuff and how I got caught a second time and that whole thing. Colin and then Jonny arrived and it was slightly silly at first but there was a shared sentiment that there wasn’t really a real reason to be mad at Jonny, I said like “so is Naga mad because Jonny hung out with some girls?” and Nik and people were like agreeing that it was dumb. After breakfast we went outside to wait until it was time to go to our lecture and we met Jake and Tyrese and some people and eventually Naga arrived and Jonny and Naga were standing sort of near each other and Jonny was like smiling and I was smiling and made eye contact with him and finally he asked Naga if he was still mad or something and Naga said that it was fine but he just didn’t want to talk to him (in a lighthearted way though, he wasn’t thatserious). At lecture I really was crashing, so fucking tired even though the subject was interesting. Although at the end there was this like ridiculous video that was showing off airplane cockpits and had “take my breath away” from topgun playing and it like restarted the song halfway through and ended with this weird stretched photo of a dog and some text and it seriously looked like a shitpost and people were laughing and I made eye contact with Jonny and we were laughing. After that it was time to finally start making the presentation thing that a couple people in our group were to present to the parents about our time at camp and Jonny wanted to present so he got Naga to join him and I just went on my phone until Naga called my name a couple minutes later and motioned me over to participate too. Once again, good reminder that just because you feel like you’re missing out doesn’t mean you’re unwanted!! I appreciated that shit Naga! Also it was a confirmation that I am not grouped with Colin in their minds (sorry Colin). And I’m glad I ended up participating too, it was fun to have another thing to do the three of us. So me, Naga, Jonny, Leonardo, and two pretty dorky kids (Linus and one other) each worked on slides, one slide each easy stuff. We were collecting photos and I offered up the one of Jonny being carried by Tyrese and they liked it but it didn’t end up getting used since the slides was short. Also Leonardo (who is wasian) asked if me and Jonny were siblings?? To which we said no, and I mentioned that this was the second time someone had asked me if I was siblings with a wasian (I didn’t word it like that) and Jonny asked if I was Asian and I was like no I’m white. It’s just weird because the only times I’ve ever been asked if someone was my sibling is today and also when Wes Lyerly asked me if me and this wasian kid Hudson were siblings in seventh grade lmao. Anyway, we got lunch which was pizza and sat in our usual spot, also Luke was texting me throughout the day which was nice of him but I’m just not that into him cause the conversation was kinda awkward and he lives in Texas anyway and stuff and I just mehh. Lunch was very chill cause everyone was tired from the night before and we didn’t talk as a group that much, especially while Hart and Seb and some people were there. I did get Starbucks with Saranya and Jonny, we all got these pink dragonfruit refreshers which Jonny had us take a photo and he posted to his insta story as a joke.
Nearer to the end of lunch when it was more just me, Saranya, Nik, Mortar, Ani, and maybe one or two others we got to talk and there was some shared sentiment especially between Nik and Naga that their social batteries were dead and they were ready to go home. Plus at one point Naga was talking about Saranya and her friend or like the Starbucks drinks or something and said “that’s some white girl shit” and then held up his hand and looked at me and said “no offense Ava” which was funny. Also Jonny was missing during this time for like an hour or so, and also at one point I went to the bathroom and when I got back they were still talking and when I stepped over legs to sit on the ground Naga said something like “here’s Jonny’s girl”?? and I was like “whaaaat” and one or two other people kinda did that too and I just sat down and Saranya was joking like “personally, I wouldn’t take that.” or whatever. While I don’t actually want people to think I’m Jonny’s girl and I try to not being following him around all the time or anything, I do not mind Naga saying it lol. Then when we were standing waiting to go back up and I was next to Naga he asked if my parents were coming to watch the presentations but he said it really quietly and I didn’t really hear and said that I didn’t know where Jonny was because I assumed that was what he was asking and it was just embarrassing for me but it was kinda funny, Naga just had his classic like “bro really” face on. Then we went upstairs and there were already adults up there and I saw Jonny’s family and stuff and then we all sat down and in a line it was Colin, Jonny, Naga, me (also sienna beside me). Then our teacher guy spoke to the parents and soon it was time to present and we all went up. Jonny went first and did a good job and like introduced himself so the rest of us did that too and I was awkward and Naga was too but it like set a tone of smiling and eye contact and silliness. Jonny was a very good public speaker and said some very informative stuff, then went Leonardo and he talked about the Jesus nut and helicopter shaft which made me and Jonny and others smile and almost laugh a lot, then I was up and mine was short but sounded good and confident I think. Then was Linus and this bitch went off the rails like talking about how he didn’t learn anything on Wednesday and the fire alarm went off so that was cool and the whole time us and audience were sort of just muffling laughter and I was like looking at Jonny and we were just like wtf. Then the next kid went and last Naga (who surprisingly was not a public speaking guy at all) and then it ended and people clapped. And that was pretty much it, people got up, went to families, so I went to my Dad and stepmom Katie and they hugged me and said they were proud which was nice. Katie used the restroom and I got to talk to Naga for a sec before he went off and me and my dad and Katie started heading towards the dorms to get my luggage.

While walking at this point it was setting in that there wasn’t going to be another opportunity to just talk with my friends or even say goodbye to them, plus I was hopped up on public speaking adrenaline while running on three hours of sleep and I was kind of mildly freaking out. Just like anxious and distracted and lightheaded and so fucking bad at speaking like it was unreal. I was completely like fried mentally and wasn’t doing wonderfully physically either. I also had a social interaction with Sam Lewis so excruciatingly bad that it was mandatory that I let my parents know I was running on 3 hours of sleep, and my dad asked if that was because of social reasons or insomnia reasons, I said social, which he sort of like congratulated me on. When we went to the lobby and checked out I did get to say a more proper goodbye to Naga cause he was by the door, but then I just left. For the next like hour I would get a lump in my throat every like two minutes and I just wanted to cry. The lack of sleep was 100% a reason for this but I was still also just genuinely overwhelmed by the fact that I never again was going to see the friends I had eaten lunch with just like an hour ago. It was just like a full complete stop on the little life I had inside of camp with no goodbyes really. I was worried I would cry in front of my parents but I didn’t end up doing so, instead I spent the car trip working through my KU early application with Katie and trying to avoid thinking about my friends and how they were just like not a part of my life anymore. Leaving was just like a social-mental 180 that made me emotional, even if I was fueled by sleep deprivation. I got to my moms house where no one was home and unpacked and I finally just kind of started crying like I knew I needed to. I was in the shower and I would just think about all this stuff about Jonny and Naga and Tyrese’s smile and Ani’s smile and voice and how I’d never see them again and stuff like that. Honestly I don’t think I’ve cried fully like that since like middle school, probably even earlier than then since I didn’t have to worry about being quiet. So yeah. Not to be a downer or anything, I was just tired and sad about my friends. IM GOING TO TALK ABOUT HAPPY STUFF AFTER THIS I PROMISE
(Also after showering I got a text from Saranya and a dm from Tyrese saying like sorry I didn’t get to say bye and stuff, which I responded to both, and I dmed Jonny saying bye which he responded to, and that helped a lot with closure.)

The pub windows were partially boarded up after the building was targeted with vandalism
A pub has closed for business a month after its collection of golly dolls was seized by police.
Five Essex Police officers removed the offensive dolls from behind the bar at the White Hart Inn, Grays, following a hate crime allegation.
Heineken and Carlsberg have told the pub to stop serving its lager, while maintenance company Innserve refused to continue working on site.
The pub's leaseholders closed the doors to customers on Monday night.
In an interview with Thurrock Nub News, co-leaseholder Benice Ryley cited opposition from the Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) and the suppliers, and said: "I've had enough."
'Discriminatory'
The police seized the dolls on 4 April and the building was vandalised with white paint and had its windows damaged on 16 April.
Camra removed the pub from its Good Beer Guide and also removed the Pub of the Year awards on display.
Mrs Ryley said the collection of about 30 dolls were donated by her late aunt and from customers, and had been in the pub for nearly 10 years.
"If they don't like it, they don't have to come through the door," she told the BBC last month.

Carlsberg told the pub to stop serving its lager
A Heineken UK spokesperson said it told the pub on 20 April to stop serving its beer, and that it would stop supplying materials such as glasses, and said in a statement: "After being made aware of the abhorrent display feature in the White Hart Inn, we advised the pub owners that we want nothing more to do with them.
"They go against everything we stand for.
"We believe pubs should be places of inclusivity and respect for all people, regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion or gender."
Camra national chairman Nik Antona said on Wednesday: "We believe pubs are for everyone - there is never a place for discrimination."
An Essex Police spokesperson said: "At this stage our investigation is still ongoing."
Mrs Ryley declined to comment when contacted by the BBC and said she preferred to wait until police speak to her husband and fellow licensee, Chris Ryley, later this month.
Admiral Taverns, the company which owns the pub building, said: "The licensees have made us aware of their decision to leave the pub.
"We will be looking to reopen the pub under the management of new licensees."
The dolls are thought to date back to minstrel entertainment shows, when typically white actors painted their faces black and depicted negative stereotypes of black people.
It became a fictional character that appeared in books from Florence Kate Upton in the late 19th Century.
The name for the dolls has since been used as a racial slur.
