Hey guys, this is kind of sudden but my time in genshinresource will end starting today. I've given a lot of thoughts about this but I can't find joy in Genshin anymore, to the point that I feel uncomfortable just by looking at any Genshin-related stuff, therefore I thought it would be best to stop now. Should anyone wants to make another Genshin resource blog or wants to look for other official art, you can find the source links for everything under this post's break line.

This blog will still be open for public view but it won't be updated any further, same goes for the AIO links and the Ask box will be disabled permanently. I will now fully focus on my Star Rail resource blog instead and will keep running it for as long as I can.

Thank you everyone for the past 2 years. I really appreciate all your thoughts and encouraging messages as well as all the new stuff I could learn from you guys. I apologize for not being able to contribute to the Genshin community anymore.

it’s been so long since i’ve hung out here. i miss my anonymous friends, i hope u guys are well and thriving!

since this is still my writing blog, i figured i would write here about my writing and what i’m working on, and what i’m not working on.

i recently posted boy next door, which i am actually really in love with, and have completed 75% of, so for the first time ever i have SOME confidence in finishing it. i feel like it is the type of story that is so natural that there will never really be a perfect conclusion. But some meaningfully literary conclusion is plausible, lol, so i will attempt it. i am also really floored by the comments I’ve received. they’ve been really encouraging and kind, and some felt like I was being congratulated by a group of peers who have grown with me and seen changes in my writing style that i thought no one apart from me would ever notice or care about. in that way, fandom is kind of amazing because it feels like we are all in some sort of cohort together, and even in this vast space of chaos I have found some friends, and some kind souls who I can chat with in corridors, who peep in occasionally and see what I’m doing and encourage me positively in a personal manner. I am able to return this to others too. That’s pretty cool.

i had a tough situation with my health, or rather my inability to handle my health problems in an adult manner, but after many weeks of deleting social media apps and forceful grass-touching (extensive physiotherapy), i am trying to visit the online areas of my life again in moderate frequencies, because this is where I get to feel like a writer. I do not get to feel like a writer in my 40h a week IT consultancy job LOL. There are no artists for miles, unfortunately and it feels like I’m going insane sometimes, being around normies. (jk, maybe… not)

people have asked if i’m giving up on idily and i’m really not, the next chapter is just a tricky one, so it’s taking a while. We are now moving into a really plot-heavy part of the story, which is definitely new territory for me as far as my skills are concerned, so I’m doing a lot of writing ideas and staring at unmoving pages etc. It’s fine, I’m not despairing, as long as I’m still in love with the general story we’ll get somewhere. I will post chap 10 after I have written Chap 11 as well I’m thinking, so that I can be a bit more certain of how we’re moving with this story. Either way, expect rewrites and detail revisions bc I’m unreliable.

Darling - which is largely just a personal project that I envision in the shape of Ymir and Historia (and Rod Reiss) - will also resume. The way Darling gets updated is like so: it feels like a fever dream of craziness, all tinted red and then I get desperate and open my gdocs and blurt out some melodramatic shit. It’s an interesting process and maybe I can make it work bc the whole point is that the story is told through the form of “love letters” from an unreliable narrator. It’s fun, and kind of crazy, and I hope I can finish it this year.

as the life of a fic writer is constantly burdened by wips, i decided to try @/ betts’s method of triaging wips. (her writing advice is amazing, gospel). so realistically these are the three stories i will update this year (and hope foolishly to complete): Darling, IDILY & Boy Next Door. If I finish even one, I’m throwing a party fr. But I will try my best at all 3, regardless. Oh, and I’m participating in a KV Mini Bang (Trigun), so I will be posting an absolutely filthy one shot by the end of the year. But this means ALL other stories are either Rolled off to next year or abandoned. I will make another post about the specifics once I am done with the diagnosis part of the triage. But I feel kinda happy that I am limiting my scope to this for the year (it’s still a LOT, lol).

In terms of original writing: I have quite some ideas floating around… some have made it onto their own google docs, some are flowing via rewrites (bylb for example) and have made moderate progress, another is vaguely brewing in my mind in a way that makes me want to write a short story of it first and try to submit it somewhere first… or post it on ao3 lol, idk. but the idea is exciting: it is an indian sapphic love story which goes strong on the forbidden love themes (and infidelity). it’ll be the first time i’m writing something that is so close to my experience growing up, so i am curious to see how that turns out.

anyway, i’m going to try to do this more often, i.e, at least once more before the year ends :)

An indictment from the US Department of Justice may have solved the mystery of how disgraced cryptocurrency exchange FTX lost over $400 million in crypto. The indictment, filed last week, alleges that three individuals used a SIM-swapping attack to steal hundreds of millions in virtual currency from an unnamed company. The timing and the amount stolen coincides with FTX's theft. Meanwhile, in a letter obtained by WIRED this week, seven lawmakers have demanded the DOJ stop funding biased and inaccurate predictive policing tools until the agency has a way to ensure law enforcement won’t use them in a way that has a “discriminatory impact.”

In Florida, prosecutors say a 17-year-old named Alan Winston Filion is responsible for hundreds of swatting attacks around the United States. The news of his arrest was first reported by WIRED days before law enforcement made it public. It was the culmination of a multi-agency manhunt to piece together a trail of digital breadcrumbs left by the teenager. In Ukraine, unmanned aerial vehicles have been powerful tools since the Russian invasion began in February 2022. But as the war rages on, another kind of unmanned robot has increasingly appeared on the front-lines: the unmanned ground vehicle, or UGV.

For months lawyers affiliated with an India based hacker-for-hire firm called Appin Technology have used legal threats to censor reporting about the company’s alleged cyber mercenary past. The EFF, Techdirt, MuckRock, and DDoSecrets are now pushing back, publicly sharing details for the first time about the firm's efforts to remove content from the web. It’s a dangerous world out there, so we’ve also got a list of some major patches issued in January that you can use to update your devices to keep them secure.

China’s Hackers Keep Targeting US Water and Electricity Supplies

For years Western security officials have warned about the threat of China collecting data about millions of people and the country’s hackers infiltrating sensitive systems. This week, Federal Bureau of Investigation director Christopher Wray said hackers affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party are constantly targeting US critical infrastructure, such as water treatment plants, the electrical grid, and oil and gas pipelines. Wray’s testimony, at a House subcommittee on China, came as the FBI also revealed it removed malware from hundreds of routers in people’s homes and offices that had been planted by the Chinese hacking group Volt Typhoon.

“China’s hackers are positioning on American infrastructure in preparation to wreak havoc and cause real-world harm to American citizens and communities,” Wray said in the public appearance. “Low blows against civilians are part of China’s plan.” The FBI director added that China has a bigger hacking operation than “every other major nation combined,” and claimed that if all of the FBI’s cyber-focused agents were assigned to work on issues related to China, they would still be outnumbered “by at least 50 to 1.”

While concerns about the scale of China’s espionage and cyber operations aren’t new, the US intelligence community has been increasingly vocal and worried about critical infrastructure being targeted by Volt Typhoon and other groups. “The threat is extremely sophisticated and pervasive,” NSA officials warned in November. In May 2023, Microsoft revealed it had been tracking Volt Typhoon intrusions at communications and transportation infrastructure, among other critical infrastructure, in US states and Guam.

The FBI and DOJ, also revealed this week that they remotely removed the KV Botnet malware from hundreds of routers infected by Volt Typhoon. The impacted routers, from Cisco and Netgear, were mostly at the end of their life, but were being used as part of wider operations. “​​The Volt Typhoon malware enabled China to hide, among other things, pre-operational reconnaissance and network exploitation against critical infrastructure like our communications, energy, transportation, and water sectors,” Wray said. It isn’t the first time US officials have obtained a court order to remotely wipe devices infected by hackers, but the move is still rare.

‘Untraceable’ Monero Transactions Have Been Traced, Police Claim

Since the first cryptocurrencies emerged more than a decade ago, there has been the assumption that the blockchain-based digital currencies are anonymous and untraceable. They are, in fact, very traceable. Researchers have shown how people can be linked to the transactions they make and law enforcement have used the techniques to help bust illicit dark web markets and catch pedophiles. There are, however, still some privacy-focused cryptocurrencies that appear to be less traceable than Bitcoin. This includes Monero, which is increasingly being adopted by sellers of child sexual abuse materials.

This week investigators in Finland said Moreno-tracing helped reveal the identity of a hacker who allegedly attacked psychotherapy company Vastaamo in 2020, stealing thousands of patient records and threatening to leak them unless people paid a ransom. Investigators from the Finnish National Bureau of Investigation claim they used heuristic analysis to infer where funds were moved to. The investigators did not reveal the full methods of how they allegedly traced the Monero payments, however, they add to the growing body of evidence that cryptocurrency tracing firms and investigators may be able to track the currency.

Russia Likely Behind a Spike in GPS Interference, Officials Say

Planes flying over Europe have faced a spike in accuracy issues with GPS systems used for navigation in recent months. The head of Estonia’s Defense Forces has claimed that Russia is likely the source of this interference, according to an interview with Bloomberg. “Someone is causing it, and we think it’s Russia,” Martin Herem told the publication, adding that Russia may be testing its electronic warfare capabilities and “learning” the most effective tactics. Across Europe, and particularly the Baltics region, there has been a reported increase in GPS jamming, with Finland reporting large interferences in December and pilots repeatedly reporting issues with their navigation systems.

Vault 7 Hacking Tools Leaker Joshua Schulte Sentenced to 40 Years

In 2017, the Vault 7 leaks exposed some of the CIA’s most sophisticated hacking tools, including how the agency could compromise routers, phones, PC, and TVs. Joshua Schulte, a former CIA engineer in the agency’s Operations Support Branch who prosecutors identified as being behind the data breach and responsible for leaking the materials to Wikileaks, was convicted in numerous trials in recent years. Schulte, who denied the allegations, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for the espionage and also for possessing thousands of child abuse images. Judge Jesse Furman, sentencing Schulte, said he had caused “untold damage to national security.” In June 2022, The New Yorker published this comprehensive investigation into the data breach and Schulte’s troubled history working at the agency.

so many. soooooo many. it depends a little bit on the length of the fic and how long ive been working on it but like uh, at least ten? i dont necessarily recommend this because im sure its possible to be more efficient and intentional but i reread my wips at every stage on different devices to fix rhythm issues and "he would not say that" incidents so yea.

Ukraine war latest: Russia prepares to damage Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, Zelensky warns

President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his evening address, citing intelligence, that Russia is “preparing a provocation” at the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.

According to Zelensky, Russian forces placed explosives on the roof of two power units.

The General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces reported in its evening update that Russian troops are preparing a strike “in the near future."

“Their detonation should not damage power units but may create a picture of shelling by Ukraine’s military,” the General Staff said.

Meanwhile, Renat Karchaa, an adviser to the head of Russia’s nuclear power operator Rosenergoatom, claimed that “Ukraine is going to attack” the nuclear power plant with “precision weapons and kamikaze drones” overnight on July 5, according to the Russian state-controlled agencies.

Karchaa claimed Ukraine intended to hit the plant with a Tochka, Soviet-made tactical ballistic missile, “with a warhead filled with radioactive waste."

Russia has regularly blamed Ukraine for attacks it itself has perpetrated.

“Now the whole world must realize that common security depends entirely on global attention to the occupiers' actions at the station,” said Zelensky.

Amid the situation around the nuclear plant, Ukraine’s Health Ministry issued recommendations on how to behave in a contaminated zone.

Yet, International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi, in his press statement on July 4 didn’t mention any new installations on the power units' rooftops nor the possible provocation by the Russian forces.

Nuclear power plant disconnected from the grid

Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant again lost connection to its main external power line overnight on July 4, Ukraine’s state nuclear energy agency Energoatom reported.

The biggest nuclear power plant in Europe, located in the occupied city of Enerhodar, switched to the only available 330 kilovolt (kV) backup power line, which was recently reconnected after being inactive since March 1.

By July 1, the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant relied exclusively on the only main power line for external electricity needed for reactor cooling and other critical functions.

Before the Russian occupation in March 2022, the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant had six backup lines and four main lines of 750 kV.

Europe’s largest nuclear power plant has been experiencing major off-site power problems since Russia unleashed its full-scale invasion of Ukraine and effectively occupied the power plant.

Russian forces have been using the nuclear plant as a military base to launch attacks against Ukrainian-controlled territory across the Dnipro River.

Due to Russian attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure, the plant has been fully disconnected from the Ukrainian power grid several times, having to resort to diesel generators.

On June 20, Zelensky said, citing intelligence, that Moscow was considering a terrorist attack on the nuclear power plant through radiation leakage.

Russian missile strike on Kharkiv Oblast injures 43

The Russian missile strike on a residential area in Pervomaiskyi, Kharkiv Oblast, injured 43 civilians, including 12 children, Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported on July 4.

The State Emergency Service reported that two infants were among the injured. The medics stabilized the 10-month-old boy, who was hospitalized in the intensive care unit following the attack.

According to the local authorities and emergency services, other children got shrapnel wounds after the Russian missile attack damaged high-rise buildings and cars in Pervomaiskyi, a town of some 30,000 residents.

The attack occurred at 1:35 p.m. local time, the governor said.

Pervomaiskyi, located 86 kilometers south of the regional capital, sits on the railway connecting Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia.

General Prosecutor Andriy Kostin reported that Russian forces struck the town with Iskander missiles.

The General Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into violations of the laws and customs of war.

Russian forces used the Iskander missiles to attack Kramatorsk in Donetsk Oblast on June 27, killing 13 people and injuring 60 more. Ukrainian writer and war crimes researcher Victoria Amelina died on July 1 after sustaining injuries in that missile strike.

In addition, Russian forces launched over 20 loitering munitions to attack Ukraine over the past day. The Air Force downed 20 attack drones and six reconnaissance drones, spokesman Yurii Ihnat reported on July 4.

However, a drone hit Sumy, killing three and injuring 21 civilians, according to the local authorities.

Ukrainian forces advance

Ukrainian forces advanced in southern and eastern directions, the military reported on July 4.

The Tavria military command spokesman Valerii Shershen said Ukrainian troops have advanced up to two kilometers in the Berdiansk direction.

Shershen also reported that Ukrainian forces are “solidifying the newly taken positions,” conducting aerial reconnaissance, clearing out mines, and shelling the Russian positions in the area.

Russian forces are attempting offensive operations in the Rivnopil sector in Donetsk Oblast, while trying to repel Ukraine’s advance in the southern direction, the spokesperson said.

Ukrainian forces also advanced on the southern flank of Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast, Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar told national television on July 4.

Russian forces are “deploying all their forces” to stop the Ukrainian advance in the south and in the east, the military official said.

Nevertheless, Russian forces are conducting a “powerful offensive” in the Lyman, Svatove, and Bakhmut directions, where they established “three-tiered staggered defense” lines, according to Maliar.

Over the past week, the Ukrainian forces have liberated 28.4 square kilometers in the south and nine square kilometers in the east, Maliar reported on July 3.
