Catholic Bishop Gerardo Alminaza recently criticized the use of Attack Helicopters by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in Negros Occidental as "Overkill", saying it resulted in the suffering of Innocent Civilians there, and the Commission of Human Rights (CHR) has started the Investigation of the possible Abuse by the AFP. The AFP now unfortunately is now on the Defensive again on the Issue of "Human Rights" under the Administration of Bong Bong Marcos (BBM): https://therhk111philippinedefenseupdates.blogspot.com/2024/02/bishop-calls-afp-use-attack-helicopters-overkill-chr-investigate-possible-abuse.html

West Visayas Drug-Free? A Stunning 90% of Villages Clear Illegal Drugs
Tumblr media
Some 90.25% of the 4,051 barangays in Western Visayas have been cleared of illegal drugs as of May this year, data from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Barangay Drug Clearing Program (BDCP) showed on Friday. In Negros Occidental, 67.89% of the 601 barangays are considered drug-cleared while in this capital city, 22.95 percent of the 61 barangays, also have gotten rid of illegal drugs. Antique, which has 590 barangays, is 99.66% drug-cleared; Iloilo Province, 1,721 barangays, 98.55%; Capiz, 473 barangays, 91.12%; and Iloilo City, 180 barangays, 54.22%. Both the 327 barangays of Aklan and the 98 barangays of Guimaras are 100 percent drug cleared.

Map of Western Visayas with Borders. Photo by Retdar. Wikimedia.   “The drug situation in Western Visayas is currently on a manageable level as evidenced by our low drug (incident), the fifth in the country,” according to the overall assessment presented by PDEA-Negros Occidental provincial officer Jeanette Reyes during the joint second quarter meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council and the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council at the Capitol Social Hall here on Friday. Reyes said the region’s manageable drug situation can be attributed to the “successful collaboration of all shareholders, leading to intensified anti-drug operations, high volume seizure of illegal drugs, sustainability efforts and increase in the number of drug-cleared barangays.”   Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, however, noted a “slow increase” in the number of drug-cleared barangays in the province. “From 65 percent to 67 percent. We have to strengthen that,” he added.   Reyes said the PDEA-Negros Occidental Provincial Office will continue to collaborate with the partner-agencies, particularly the local government units, to better serve the Negrenses.   Sources: THX News & Philippine News Agency. Terra de Aruanda
Tumblr media

We have this Filipino quote saying “tangkilikin ang sariling atin” henceforth it is even conveyed by our National Hero Dr.Jose Rizal on about looking back to where you came from in order to reach the path you want to take. It helped every Filipino to always genuinely showcase where and which roots they came from and be proud of it endlessly. It somehow influences me in trait but as it is embedded in my heart for sure I’d always love to think about my hometown which is Negros Occidental that had brought me so much amazing and out of this world memories from my childhood seeing and enjoying each coconut trees, white sand, waves, beaches and most especially a sunset that completes every family outing.
This picturesque view looks like a painting but let me proudly say it is only found in Sipalay, Negros Occidental. Sipalay is one of the famous and most sought after destination in the province, it is known to have multiple phenomenal white sand beaches. Thus for sure, you may have been wondering where exactly this picture was taken right? Well, it is right where every part of the stretch sand is free for the public! Yes you heard it right so much so from having resort and diving experiences with pricey itinerary you can also opt to travel on a budget friendly to unwind, get soaked, sandy and tanned too. There are just so many choices of food to eat, place to stay and activities to do in Sipalay. It can be reached by bus for approximately 4-5 hours and private vehicles for about 3-4 hours. It is a treasure you need to explore off to so make yourself ready and prepare your gears, necessities and swimwears perfect for your beach pictorial. Sipalay constantly awaits for you with their stretch of white sand, the beach scenery and the sunset that is a picture perfect place to walk your feet with and lay your eyes on. Anytime of the day, the beach is yours to own, appreciate and play.
KADTO NA DI KAG MAGSINADYA TA! — your ilongga blogger, resha remarks! 😉

The “Maldives of the Philippines” - Manjuyod White Sandbar | Pinay Nomad
Is this for real?
Yessir! 😄
It's 100% legit!
My friends (fellow wanderlusters) and I went for a delightful vacation in Manjuyod in Bais, Negros Oriental.
We frolic on the white sandbar, ate 100 coconuts, and did yoga poses with awesome Japanese students. 😀
Watch the video to learn more.

Lakawon 2017
For my first post, let me share with you some photos on our Lakawon Trip last 2017 with my friends.
Lakawon is an island resort in Negros Occidental, Philippines. It has a white sand beach front that is famous for both local and foreign tourists.
Tumblr media
Since it is an island resort, you need to take a boat for you to be able to get there. You may check with the resort on the specific time and fare for their boat ride.
Tumblr media
Upon arrival, this is what will greet you. We are very fortunate there are only a few guests when we checked-in so there is still some privacy in our stay, which we really love!

Look at that gorgeous sunset at the back of our room!
Tumblr media
This is the view at the back of our room. Yes, our room has an access at the back side of the beach.
Tumblr media
And that’s it for our Lakawon beach trip!
We only stayed there for one night and the rest of our Bacolod trip was spent in the city, which I will try to share with you next time!
