| Nate's POV |
Y/n sat on my bed while I had my bags out while I packed for TUF her knees to her chest "you okay babe?" I asked "yeah I'm good" she lightly smiled "k". "and this wait," she handed me our photo booth pictures "now you can't forget me" my brows went together "I won't forget about you... I'm not gonna be gone that long" "well after when you win, big bad UFC fighter" she gave a slightly sad smile "you not want me to go?" "no I do! there's nothing me I want for you....when people blow up they forget about people sometimes" "yeah I might forget about people," I cupped her cheek "you're lucky though you're more than that... you think i'm gonna forget about my girl?!" I smiled she giggled as I laid her back I pecked her lips.
my arms were wrapped her kissing her head "never forget about you promise," she held me a bit tighter "you gonna find a new boyfriend while i'm gone?" "no wouldn't even think of it" I smiled when she kissed my chin. "I'm gonna miss you so much" she play with the bottom of my hoodie :you gonna invite everyone you know and say 'omg that's my boyfriend! I miss him soooo much!! ' " I said looking down at her she lightly slapped my chest "I don't sound like that!" We laughed. "i'm gonna talk about you all the time" she cupped my cheek and kissed me "my boy" she smiled she ran a handover my head "your boy needs a haircut" "come on" She hopped up.
"welcome to Y/ns Cuts Mr. Diaz" she said holding the clippers with a smirk I laughed and sat down. "I'm gonna get a acting gig after this hair cut" she laughed "yeah?how do you like it?" she wrapped her arms around my waist while I looked in the mirror "yeah, looks great thanks baby" "of course" she kissed my shoulder blade.
| Next Morning |
"miss you baby" she kissed me "miss you too mamas, be back with a pocket full of cash!" She laughed "I love you" I smiled "I love you too! Every time I throw the peace sign I'm thinking about you and I love you" "sounds good Diaz" I smiled and kissed her head.
| Coming Home |
I hopped out of my moms car Y/n in the front yard big smile on her face "my boy I missed you," I smiled as she hugged me "you did so good, I'm so proud of you" I kissed her "missed you too".
My mom made a big dinner and had a few more people over seats were taken in the living room where we watched the last episode of the season of TUF. Y/n came in and couldn't find a seat so I pulled her into my lap "thank you!" She smiled and blushed I kissed her cheek then she laid her head on my chest, I rubbed her back "missed you so much" I whispered and kissed her head she smiled and kissed my covered chest.

You will surely be the death of me
Answering two prompts to kick off Fictober and Wayhaven Frights and then I'll fail to write any of the other ones 🙃:
@fictober-event prompt: I chose you.
@wayhavenfrights prompt: dawn
This could use more work, but I don't have it in me. Also, a huge huge thank you to @serenpedac for helping me with the astronomy! Also ALSO you should check out Seren's lovely I repeat you, which was written first and touches on super similar themes (and better lol).
Fandom: The Wayhaven Chronicles
Rating: PG
Synopsis: Nate and Avery watch the sunrise and talk about stars.
Note: The title is from Like the Dawn by The Oh Hellos, which is a very Navery song. And just because I'm recommending music to accompany this fic, you should listen to Sun by Sleeping at Last.
~
Avery sips from her travel mug as she watches the dark sky fade to navy blue, a promise of warmth and light just over the horizon. But for now, it is chilly on this rooftop. She sets down the drink and huddles into Nate, head tucking into his chest and arms snaking underneath his coat and around his waist.
"Cold," she explains.
Nate chuckles and wraps the coat more fully around her. “If you want, we can go back inside."
“No, just keep me warm,” she hums. She’s dragged him on enough stargazing dates that she can certainly indulge him this morning. “Are you feeling better?”
He hugs her closer. “Much better.”
She tilts her head back to observe his handsome face—dark eyes gazing back at her, a smile on his lips. She's not sure if she believes him, if she's a sufficient distraction from whatever nightmare left him so shaken this morning. Something from his past, something he’s carried with him for three hundred years. Something he doesn’t want to talk about.
“I’m so sorry for waking you,” he said when he stopped shaking, his smile forced. “But it seems we are just in time to watch the sunrise.”
It's the type of activity that wouldn’t have occurred to Avery, despite her proclivity for staring at the sky. Her fascination lies with bodies much farther away—with the exception of Nate, of course.
And with him, it’s hard not to appreciate each day.
So she drags her gaze away and rotates in his arms, so she can watch the ever-lightening sky.
“There’s this theory about the Sun," she says, to fill the silence. "That it had a binary twin once. Another star orbiting around the same center of mass. They call it Nemesis.”
“An evil twin, then," comments Nate, with a smile she hears rather than sees.
“For kicking an asteroid into the Earth and killing the dinosaurs, I guess,” she explains. “There’s no evidence for Nemesis. If it was ever close enough to do any damage, it isn’t anymore, and never will be again.” She thinks about his past, still kicking asteroids into his life. Her hands venture out of the warmth to hold onto his, which are linked around her shoulders. “But we know that most stars occur in binary systems, and we suspect that almost all stars started out with a far-away companion. They get closer, or they break apart, leaving single stars. It's a mathematical model that explains some observations, anyway."
“Oh, I like that. Like soulmates."
It’s such a Nate thing to say in response to her rambling; she has to smile. “Do you believe in that? Soulmates?”
"Yes, I think so. More so now." She doesn't miss the implication in his voice, one that might have sent her panicking not too long ago. "Do you?"
Avery doesn’t answer for a moment. It’s certainly a model which would explain, well, this. Them. Feelings she never felt so deeply, like he's the warm soft glow of a brand new day. But there's something sad in that, too. A hundred years from now, she will be long gone; or worse, a memory that wakes him in the middle of the night, alone.
"No," she finally decides. "I chose you, and you chose me, and gravity has nothing to do with it."
The sky brightens slowly around them, and Nate doesn't speak. Avery rotates again, to assess the expression on his face. Not long ago, she might have wondered if her answer had him rethinking his own.
But he smiles to see her looking back at him and angles his face towards hers. Her heart skips a beat. He could keep her warm from light-years away, and she feels lucky to be here in his orbit, if only for a few decades.
“I can’t decide which theory I like better," says Nate thoughtfully. “Because certainly, I chose you. And I choose you.” He dips his head low to a brush a kiss over her lips. “But, my sweet astronomer, my dearest heart, there could be no other choice.”
Words rise to her throat:
I am just the beginning for you, Nate.
I think you will choose someone else some day.
I hope that you do.
But the words evaporate in the heat of the kiss that follows, and she lets them go. There is no use in thoughts orbiting around the inevitable future, no point in casting her eye skyward, when her universe does not need more than him or now.

And, I love her
Tumblr media
Pairing: fezco x reader
Notes: hello! so i've had this idea since i wrote the shit i wrote for rafe and I didn't write it until now. I wrote this at 1 am bc I love him so much and I wanted to write something. i only have one spoiler so if you haven't seen s2 then ig don't read it? idk
Warnings: like cursing? maybe grammar mistakes. das it
Fezco couldn’t wait to get home and have his girl in his arms. He and Ash had a run to do, he made her stay home, because it was bad enough that his little brother was involved. She couldn’t be involved in this shit too. Luckily, everything went as planned and he was able to get home faster.
When he arrived at the door, he could hear the music blasting from inside. Maybe, she decided to clean a little while they were gone. He wasn’t complaining. As long as his baby was happy.
Paul Anya’s “You Are My Destiny” was playing in the living room. She had found out about this song when she’d heard her mom play it. She shared it with Fezco and they both decided that it was going to be their song. The one they’d play and dance to at their wedding. The one that would play softly in the background as they slow-danced in the emptiness of their home.
Ash had fucked off to his room, not wanting to see those assholes sucking faces in the middle of the kitchen. When Fez saw her in one of his shirts, sweeping the kitchen, his heart almost burst with love. He loved when she did things like clean or cook. It was how domestic she was that made him fall in love with her just a little bit more every time.
When she realized he was there, she stopped what she was doing and walked over to him, kissing his lips. He’d been gone for hours and she missed him too much. This song had been on repeat for the last two hours as she cleaned the house and took care of his grandma, which she didn’t mind. She loved helping him out, whatever it was that needed to be done.
“Hello,” he mumbled against her lips.
Before he realized that she saw him, her lips were on his and his arms were around her. She smelled like cocoa butter with a hint of vanilla, his favorite. She felt so soft and warm in his arms, he could stay like this forever if she asked.
“Hi, baby. Everything go well?”
Her brown eyes stared into his blue ones. He couldn’t count how many times he’d gotten lost in the girl’s eyes, he didn’t care to. He pecked her cheek and smiled. He’d tell her anything she wanted to know about his business, he trusted her with his life and her with him.
“Everything went good, mama. How was your day?”
He was gone before she woke up this morning, but she felt him place a kiss on her head, bidding her goodbye. His mind was full of her all day. What she wore, how she’d wear her hair today, what she planned on doing. Just her. He’d been feening for her all day.
“It was okay, I missed you,” she pouted.
She really did miss him. She laid in bed for an hour thinking about him. What cologne he wore today, if he wore the ring she’d brought him for their 2nd anniversary, if he ate breakfast or not. He had a habit of not eating before he left, which bothered her beyond words.
“I missed you too, babe. More than you know.”
She hugged him tighter, and he let her. They stayed like that for a few minutes, until they slowly began swaying to the song. Fez picked up on what she was getting at. He looked at her as a cheesy smile crept on her face. They swayed a little harder, dancing to the song. This was her favorite thing to do with him. She began whispering the words to him as they danced in circles.
“Cause I’d be a fool to ever leave you, dear. And a fool, I’d never be.”
That was her favorite part. She thought the world of Fezco. He could do no wrong in her eyes. Despite him beating the shit out of Nate Jacobs, he deserved it from what she understood. Her knight in shining armor, her fierce protector. He was a light in the shape of an angel and she didn’t believe in god, but she thanked him for placing him in her life.
He’d do anything she asked him to, no matter the reason. Ash would tease him about how absolutely fucking whipped he was for her, but he payed him no mind. Ash won’t admit it, but he liked her too. She was an important person in his life. And, he’d do anything to protect her, like she would do anything to protect him.
They continued dancing around, singing the song to one another. Fezco had never known what love was until he met her. He’d find himself saying ‘I love you’ to her at least five times a day. And, she’d gladly say it back every time. He thought about the past two years with her as he looked into her eyes. She’d proven to him that her love was unconditional time and time again.
When he looked at her, she always felt the love in his stare. In the way he said her name, in the way he held her close to him. In the nights she couldn’t sleep and he’d stay awake with her, no matter how tired he was. He was the very embodiment of love to her.
Fezco had noticed himself visibly happier since being with her. He adored the way she never failed to brighten his day. If he was feeling some insecurities, she focused on proving his every thought wrong. He never had to worry that she didn’t love him as much as he loved her.
When the time was right, he’d marry her. And, she’d have his children. And, they’ll grow old and die together. But, until then, they’ll dance to this song and bask in the warmth of their love for each other.

31?😳😳👀👀
I saw what you did there anon!!! Thank you so much for your request 😍
From this list of prompts.
IN THE DARKNESS WITH YOU
Pairing: Mason x f!detective (Alice Santos)
Prompt: “I’m never going to leave you. I promise.”
Warnings: SOFT MASON ALERT!!! Really, the amount of fluff is surprising even for me. Lil bit of angst as well, specially at the begining. Mason has a nightmare. Alice doesn't have any of his shit.
Words: ~2.4k
Read on ao3
Wayhaven was in silence. The streets empty, the neighbors sleeping. It was four in the morning and the birds weren't awake yet.
In Alice's bedroom, she dreamed peacefully, her face buried in Mason's chest, a cocoon of warmth created by his arms, one under her head, the other lazily resting over her waist. Their naked legs were tangled under the sheets. His breath made some of her curls sway, just in front of his mouth, an inch away to tickle his nose.
She smiled softly in her sleep. She was at the beach, and Unit Bravo was there too. The day was bright and warm and Mason was smiling. Felix's laughter filled the air and Nate and Adam were bantering. They didn't have a care in the world of her dreams.
Mason's fingers twitched against her skin. A low whimper, a frown disturbing his sleeping face. A word uttered in the darkness.
"Alice…"
She stirred in his arms, not quite waking up, but part of her brain acknowledging his distress. She hummed and wrapped her arm tighter around his back, her other hand curled in front of her lips.
"D-don't…"
The nightmare was getting worse. It had been a while since he had felt that level of fear. Sometimes he had dreamed about Murphy. About how he bit her, how he cradled her in his arms when she lost consciousness.
But not tonight.
In his nightmare, he watched as Alice wrapped her arms around herself, hugging her frame tightly. It was as if she was trying not to break into pieces at his feet. He had said something, maybe done something, that was causing her to retreat from him. Silent tears fell down her cheeks.
He was used by now to the way she looked at him (not that it stopped his heart from jumping when he caught certain glances). Sometimes playful, sometimes mischievous, sometimes lustful… but always warm. Always affectionate… loving.
But there was none of that spark in her eyes now. They were dull, blank, as if she didn't recognize him anymore. His heart stuttered inside his chest and he reached for her, but her eyes widened and she took a step back, his fingers grasping on air. He could see her knuckles turning white at how tightly she was hugging herself.
"Don't touch me." Her voice, which he expected to be sharp as a blade, was broken and ragged, and she fell to her knees. "I can't believe…"
Mason took a step towards her, but no matter how much he tried to advance, she was not closer.
"Alice… Don't…"
She sobbed and looked at him accusingly.
"Are you happy now?" She wailed loudly.
"Mason…"
He frantically searched around him, not quite placing where the other voice was coming from. But the kneeling Alice snarled at him.
"Is this what you wanted?"
Her arms opened to show him what he had done.
"Mason!"
He woke up with a start, forest green eyes staring at him worriedly, her hands pressed against both sides of his face.
"Alice? You… you were…"
His senses were dampened by both her presence and his adrenaline, the beating of his heart panicked and out of control, and hers quite accelerated as well, in what he could recognize as concern. He realized he was squeezing her in his arms, maybe too tight, but she didn't seem to mind, too occupied with examining his expression.
"I'm here." She muttered, bumping her forehead against his. His eyes fluttered closed and he took a deep breath, letting her scent overwhelm his senses and cloud his brain.
He kissed her. Hard.
She grunted and let him pour his anxiety on her lips, swallowing his nightmare obediently, not recoiling or retreating like she had done on his dream.
And suddenly he was out of her reach. Alice blinked in confusion and saw him sitting on the edge of the bed, his back glistening with sweat in the dim light of the moon that poured through the window.
"Mason?"
"It's too fucking hot in here."
He was suffocating.
She got up and padded quickly to the window, opening it and letting the cool air of the night invade the bedroom, shivering slightly when it hit her.
When she turned around he had a cigarette between his lips, the hand with the lighter trembling ever so slightly. She could have missed it if she didn't know him so well.
A minute went by in silence, only disturbed by him puffing out smoke. She was standing in front of him, fearing he would get away from her if she reached out, but dying to get close to him and comfort him, to discover what was disturbing him.
She couldn't hold back anymore and reached out to his face, but as she feared, he got up before she could touch him.
"Where are my clothes?" He asked, putting the cigarette out in the ashtray on the nightstand. He was in his boxers, looking around the bedroom.
"Um, in the living room."
His eyes found hers for a moment, and something flashed there, but she couldn't quite place it. The memories of the night before, how they shedded each other's clothes as if they couldn't stand a single second without being skin to skin? Or had it something to do with that nightmare, the one that had him whimpering her name?
"Right." He nodded, looking away from her and walking towards the living room.
Something was wrong.
Without thinking, she darted to the door and blocked his path, arms extended at her sides. His eyebrows shot up in surprise.
"What are you doing?" There was genuine confusion in his voice.
"You're not leaving like this."
He scoffed. "You know you can't stop me if I want to go."
Oh, how true were those words. Her heart jumped at the multiple implications that statement had, and Mason arched a brow at her.
"I know." She finally said, hands resting on each side of the threshold, slowly sliding down until they were limp at her sides. She met his eyes. "But I'm asking you to stay."
The vampire stared at her for several seconds - he could leave, get dressed and get out of there, but he knew it would hurt her if he did so, he could see it in her eyes - and he sighed.
"I gotta get out of here, sweetheart." He spoke, voice softer, the nickname almost a plea. She gave him a determined nod.
"Then let's get dressed."
Ten minutes later, they were driving through the streets of Wayhaven in silence. Mason had his eyes closed, as if he was enjoying every minute of peace the nighttime was bringing him. The detective stole glances at him, her concern still clawing at her stomach, but she pushed it away for his sake. She knew better than to push Mason to speak when he didn't want to.
When she turned off the engine, he opened his eyes. They had entered the forest and followed a dirt track deeper into the trees, until they couldn't keep going forwards. He looked around, at the forest illuminated by the moonlight and threw a long smirk to her.
"You brought me to a make out spot?"
She snorted a laugh, surprised, but happy to see some of his snark was back.
"It kinda is a make out spot, but I thought you'd appreciate the silence."
Mason nodded, but still said. "Let's go to the backseat?"
Alice rolled her eyes. "Really? You had me in a bed and now you wanna hook up in a tiny car?"
She expected a smirk and a reply that could make her blush, but the intensity of his gaze caught her off guard. "Backseat. Come on."
She nodded, swallowing hard, and exited the car to slide into the backseat at the same time he did. He did not grab her and pulled her on top of him, he did not devour her mouth with a kiss.
His arms wrapped around her. One around her shoulders, the other around her waist, bringing her closer until her legs rested on his lap. With her head against his chest, the surprised detective could hear the hammering of his heart, sounding as if he had just run a marathon.
He closed his eyes. Took a deep breath. He let himself get carried away until everything he could feel was her -- on his skin, her warmth. Her scent blocking every other smell and almost coating his tongue. Her gentle breathing and that heartbeat he had come to love know, the only sound he could hear. And he relaxed when her arms sneaked their way around his frame, rubbing soothing circles on his back.
This is stupid. It was just a dream.
He thought about pulling away. But she hummed in satisfaction and nuzzled his neck with her nose, and he held her tighter.
A few minutes passed in silence, until their heartbeats and breathings synchronized.
"You can ask." His husky voice broke the peace and she sighed softly.
"Are you okay?" That was her main worry. She didn't have to know what had happened if he was alright now.
"Yeah." I am now. His breath hit her forehead when he spoke, and she couldn't help but notice how good it felt to be wrapped in each other like this. It felt so intimate, in a new way she was utterly enjoying.
"Does it happen often?"
"Not really."
"You wanna tell me what it was about?"
He took a deep breath. "I had done something to you." He confessed, voice almost a whisper, and she fought the urge to look up at him. She feared the spell would break if they made eye contact. "I hurt you. You were crying and - and you had a hole in your chest. In your heart." Her eyebrows shot up and she couldn't help but look up at him, noses brushing and eyes meeting.
"That sounds messed up."
He nodded slowly, grey eyes lost. He was staring at her but she wondered what he was seeing. "I couldn't get to you. You didn't want me near you."
I had lost you.
Alice was becoming a master in reading between the lines with Mason. But she didn't have to think much about what his nightmare and his words meant, and she could have melted in his arms at the implications of it.
“I’m never going to leave you. I promise.”
His breath hitched in his throat, pulling back slightly to search her face for any hints of lies. But she never lied, he knew that already. She wore her heart on her sleeve, something that made him roll his eyes when they met, now something he cherished and respected deeply.
"You can't promise that."
To his surprise, a soft smile grazed her full lips. She raised a hand, fingertips traveling through his features - tracing his eyebrows, his cheekbones, the contour of his lips, finally settling under his chin, grasping it with her thumb and her forefinger.
"I can promise you I won't leave if you don't want me to."
The silence suddenly felt dense, tension crackling between them.
So many things unspoken.
And if I never want you to leave?
Then I will be with you forever.
Their breathings were heavier, and they couldn't tell who had moved first but they were lost in a deep kiss before they realized.
Could it be true? Could the woman in his arms remain there for eternity?
Was this real? Did he want her by his side so much?
Lips parting, tongues and teeth and whimpers, their kisses went on for several minutes, none of them willing to stop, but not trying to take it further either. They had time for that.
She broke the kiss and gasped for air, her whole body thrumming to a song only he knew how to play. He was nearly panting, letting her catch her breath, kissing down her neck and up again, his fingers grasping her tight enough to bruise - a reminder that she was here, she was his, she didn't want to leave.
"Do you really promise?"
God, the sound of his voice against her skin had her nerves alight, husky and low and deep as it was, making her shiver. But the smile on her face was amused, noticing he wanted a confirmation, knowing they were exchanging feelings more than words.
They were so clueless, yet they always found a way to understand each other.
When she didn't reply, he looked up at her grin and saw her hand between them, her little finger out, ready to make a promise.
"Pinky promise?" She chanted happily, and he couldn't help but snort a laugh.
"How are you so fucking ridiculous?" But he was laughing, and it was beautiful, so her smile widened.
"Don't leave me hanging, sunshine."
He bit her pinky and she squealed before he silenced her with another kiss, a soft one this time, gentle. It was curious how they were unaware of the fact that in that moment, they both shared the same thought.
How did I get so lucky?
"Ready to go?" She muttered against his lips, and he nodded.
"Yeah. Let's go home."
Satisfaction ran through his veins at the utter delight in her soft features, he called her apartment home - it wasn't so long ago that she would always wake up to a lonely bed. Foreheads bumping together for a moment, she sighed happily before they went back to the front seats.
She sang along to the radio on the way back and he observed her, curiosity mixing with fondness and disbelief.
The sun was starting to rise, but they still could steal a couple of hours of sleep.
They undressed and she didn't miss the way he watched her, a smirk on his lips. "We didn't take advantage of the make out spot."
"First a nap." She chuckled, sliding into the bed sheets with him following close. "Then I'm all yours."
He hummed his approval as she settled in his arms, his body covering hers in a tight embrace.
"Sounds good. Really good."
They drifted off when the first birds started to sing, knowing they would wake up tangled together. Knowing they had time to get lost in each other.
All the time in the world.

Mikey walked into the crowded party and looked around for a familiar face. He'd been away on tour for a few months and the one thing that kept him sane between soundchecks and shows and interviews and the long nights alone on the bus was (YN). The guys liked to give him shit for constantly texting her, especially since they weren't even going out, but Mikey didn't care. (YN) was his anchor in the storm of craziness that was life in a massively popular touring band.
Finally he spotted her, but as he crossed the room to her, it was as if time slowed down. She was talking excitedly to some guy he'd never seen before, touching his arm, head tossed back as she laughed. Mikey felt his heart jump up in his throat as he paused, wondering if he should just leave. He told her he'd meet her here, but he left out that it was because he wanted to tell her in person how much she meant to him and to see if she'd be willing to take a chance with him.
He must have been staring too long, as (YN) looked his way and her face lit up in a grin as she rushed over to him, throwing her arms around him in a big hug. He instinctively wrapped his arms around her as well, taking the opportunity that he feared he might not get again.
"Mikey! I missed you so much!" She exclaimed as she pulled back.
"Me too, I mean, I missed you too," he laughed self-consciously. Despite usually being pretty smooth when flirting with someone, seeing (YN) in person short-circuited his brain.
To his relief she just laughed as she looked up at him. "Oh your hair is getting long, I like it like that!"
"Then I'll cancel my haircut tomorrow," he replied.
"Good, then we can all hang out!"
"Is something going on?"
"Come here," she said tugging on his arm. To his dismay they were going over to the guy she had been talking to before. "Mikey, this is Nate."
Nate extended his hand in greeting. "Hey, nice to meet you."
"Hey," Mikey replied curtly as he shook his hand.
(YN)'s eyes flicked between the men. "Nate just moved out here last month for work. We went to high school together, played in the orchestra and went to prom together too, all that kinda stuff," (YN) explained with a wave of her hand.
"Yea, we were just talking about the weird game we used to play at lunch," Nate replied.
"And I still think we can make it into a drinking game," (YN) shrugged. "Anyway, like I was saying before, I'm getting a few people together for dinner tomorrow at Fresco, can you make it? You said you're gonna cancel your haircut," (YN) smiled up at Mikey and his stomach did a flip.
"Yea, I can be there," Mikey nodded. (YN) might not know it, but she could ask him to do anything and he would agree to it.
"Great!" She grinned as she gave his arm a squeeze as her hand lingered.
"Hey (YN), it's getting kinda late," Nate said cut in politely.
"Oh, right, you got work tomorrow," (YN) replied. "Mikey, I'm so glad I got to see you even if it was just for a second, I'll see you tomorrow, ok?"
Mikey smiled halfheartedly. "Yea, see ya," he replied as she leaned in and gave him a quick hug.
And then he watched as the girl of his dreams left with another man.
~
The next night Mikey arrived at the restaurant and spotted (YN) sitting next to Nate in a large corner booth. They were engrossed in their conversation until he walked up.
“Hey Mikey! Sit!” (YN) greeted him, patting the spot next to her. He couldn’t help but feel relieved that she still wanted him near her, even if Nate was on her other side. “We’re just waiting for a couple of others. But Mikey, I was just telling Nate how much you and Gee play D&D. Nate plays too, maybe you could, I dunno, play together? I don’t get how any of that stuff works,” (YN) said with a shake of her head as she sat back so they could see each other better.
“Umm yea we play a lot,” Mikey replied. He understood that she was trying to be nice to Nate, but he really didn’t want to have to spend any more time with the guy than he had to.
“Cool, what do you play?” Nate asked, he seemed genuinely interested.
“Human cleric,” he answered.
“Nice. I have an elf wizard character I usually play,” Nate replied.
“I don’t know what any of this means,” (YN) shook her head. “Why do I hang out with such nerds?”
“Who’s a nerd?” Mikey looked up and recognized a couple of (YN)’s other friends.
“These two!” (YN) laughed. “Eli, Jennifer, this is Nate. Nate, these are my friends Eli and Jennifer.”
They exchanged hellos as they slid into the other end of the booth and soon after the waiter came to take their orders. The conversation shifted from D&D to less nerdy topics, but Mikey was barely listening anyway until he felt (YN)’s knee bump against his under the table.
“Mikey,” (YN) whispered.
“Hmm?” He snapped back to attention.
“I was asking how your tour went? (YN) was telling us about it,” Jennifer asked again.
He glanced over at (YN), who was looking back at him eagerly, and realized that her knee was still pressed against his. Maybe it was nothing, but he couldn’t help but feel like it was something and he had a thought. If he had a snowball’s chance in hell with (YN), he’d need to impress her, make her realize that he was better than Nate in some way.
“It was awesome. They were the biggest shows we’ve ever done as headliners and it was so amazing playing to these giant sold out crowds every night.”
“That’s awesome,” Nate commented, clearly impressed. “Are you constantly busy when you’re touring?”
“When he’s not busy texting (YN) all day while she’s at work,” Jennifer said with a smirk. He glanced over at (YN) and saw she was blushing and looking down.
“I mean,” (YN) started, but then the waiter came back with the check. As soon as they set it on the table Mikey grabbed it as (YN) started to reach for it.
"I got it."
“Oh, I was actually gonna take care of it, as a thank you to (YN) for introducing me to so many cool people out here. I was really feeling lonely until we reconnected,” Nate said with a smile.
“Guys, it’s fine, I organized the dinner, I can take care of it,” (YN) insisted.
“I feel like I should argue that I should take the check, but,” Jennifer shrugged.
“Right?” Eli laughed.
“I insist,” Nate said to Mikey..
“No, allow me,” Mikey replied, digging out his wallet for his credit card.
"You don't have to do that," (YN) replied with a shake of her head.
“I’m happy to do it,” he replied.
“Thanks Mikey,” Nate smiled over at him, and everyone chimed in their thanks. Mikey glanced back at (YN). She was looking back at him a with an expression that was a mix of amusement and exasperation, but her knee was still against his under the table
~
It had been a few weeks since he had gotten back from being on tour, and while Mikey had gotten to hang out with (YN) it was never alone as it seemed Nate was always around, along with Eli and a few others. He started bringing Ray along because he thought he might as well have back up, but unfortunately Ray and Nate also seemed to get along splendidly. That was part of the problem; Nate was so nice, it was hard for him to find fault with the guy, other than he was with the girl he loved. But despite his frustrations, he didn't want to get in the way of (YN)’s happiness with Nate.
It was late morning, but Mikey was still feeling half asleep as he dragged himself into Starbucks. The cafe was busy, even for a Saturday, and as he waited for his drink, he glanced around at the other patrons. Suddenly he realized he recognized two of them at the table by the window and his heart leapt into his throat.
It was Nate, sitting at a table with a girl that was not (YN). When he looked again, he realized it was her friend Eli. He tried not to stare, but couldn't help stealing glances. They were very clearly holding hands, then they were getting up, and he was pressing a kiss to her temple before wrapping his arm around her waist and walking out together.
Mikey's head was spinning. He didn't want to know this. He didn't want to break (YN)'s heart or make her think he was lying to her because he was jealous. What felt like an eternity later, his drink was ready. As he walked back to his car, he decided he had to do what was right, what he would hope a true friend would do for him.
~
"Hey Mikey, what are you doing here?" She asked when she opened the door. He had driven around for an hour before he worked up the nerve to go to her house.
"Can we talk?"
"Yea, come in," she said ushering him in.
They sat down on the couch and he drew in a deep breath. "I have something to tell you and I don't want to, but you deserve to know."
"What? What is going on?" She asked, her voice becoming strained with nerves.
"I was at Starbucks this morning and I saw Nate with Eli. It looked like they were on a date because they were holding hands and he had his arm around her, the whole thing. I'm so sorry, but you deserve to know."
Relief flooded across (YN)’s face in an instant. “Well I should hope so! She told me she was going to spend the day with him today.”
It was Mikey's turn to be stunned. "But, wait, I thought you and him were going out."
"Pfft, no. We kinda went out in high school, but we're just friends now,” she said with a dismissive wave.
"Shit," he laughed, running his hand through his hair. Then the relief he felt turned to embarrassment.
"Wait, is that why you've been acting so weird since you came back from tour?" She asked, her eyes narrowing as a smirk started to cross her face.
"Whaddya mean?" He replied, trying to sound calm, but his heart was hammering in his chest.
"I wanted to introduce you to Nate because I thought you'd really get along, but you froze him out! And then you kept trying to one up him all the time, like that time picking up the check for the table."
Mikey sat back and shrugged, trying to keep his poker face. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Yes you do. Come on Mikey, just tell me what is going on with you. I was so looking forward to you being home, but everything has been so weird since you got back."
Mikey drew in another deep breath, recalling everything he intended to say that night at the party. "It's because... You're one of the most important people in my life and when I was on the road, knowing I could talk to you when shit got overwhelming or boring or I couldn't sleep, it kept me sane. That night at the party I wanted to tell you all that, but I thought you were with him and I didn't want to ruin something if you were happy. I just want the best for you."
"I should have clarified that night, I'm so sorry if you were hurt thinking me and Nate were together," she said softly. "But you really want the best for me, regardless of how it left you feeling, huh?"
Mikey looked down, it was now or never. "Yea, because that's what you do for the person you love." When he finally looked back up, (YN) looked stunned, but was smiling.
"I was really hoping that was the reason," she replied, shifting over so she was sitting knee to knee with him, and taking his hand. "Because there is no one else I wanna be with but you."
A smile broke across Mikey's face as well. "So maybe we can…"
"Start over from the night at the party?"
"Yea," he laughed.
She grinned and threw her arms around him in a hug, just like the night at the party. "Welcome home, I missed you!"
"I missed you too (YN). Thank you for being there for me while I was on tour. Would you please go out with me?"
(YN) nodded excitedly. "Yes! I'd love to, 'cause I love you too, Mikey."
It took a moment for the words to fully register in his mind, but when they did he reached up and grabbed her face between his hands and pressed his lips against hers with everything he had. He felt her wrap her arms around him again, and her smiling against his lips. When they pulled back he rested his forehead against hers as he caressed her cheek.
“So how about that date?” (YN) said with a smile.
“Now?” Mikey asked, sitting back, surprised at her proposition.
“Yea, we have weeks of lost time to make up for. Oh and this time, I’m gonna pick up the check,” she smirked.
Mikey laughed. “Come on, who are you trying to impress?”

Sam Drake × Reader (Angst)
“Promise”
Summary: You have endured for too long what happened between you and Sam. After all that you went through, you understand that he is not ready for what you still have to go through. Perhaps this is the end for both of you.
a/n: Ok guys, this is my second attempt (English is still not my native language) but I tried. I wanted to write something dramatic, and the idea quickly came to my mind. I know that it is commonplace and I read something similar a hundred times already, but that did not stop me, so now you can appreciate it. Thanks.
P.S. someday i will stop writing about Sam, but it won't be soon ☻
Tumblr media
7:45 evening
“Hey, Baby. I'm so glad to hear from you, I'm sorry, I didn’t answer calls and made you worry, but I was really busy, I swear. So much has happened, I will tell you as soon as I arrive”.
“And I'm glad to hear from you. So when will you be home? Don’t think, I don’t want to put pressure on you just. . .”
You rubbed the ring on your ring finger that Sam gave you a couple of months ago. You were together for almost two years, and you still could not believe it. How did he even decide on this. This is Drake! And even more you could not believe that you agreed in the future to connect your life with this person. Constantly asking himself the question “Why?” Although the answer was obvious, you were madly in love with each other.
Holding the phone on your shoulder and cuddling. To his ear you plunged into your thoughts, unnoticed how you fell silent.
“Baby?”
“It’s just that you’ve been away for a month now, I miss you, and even worse, I’m worried about you”.
You took a deep breath.
“Too much time has passed”.
“I know, honey, I know. But please bear with me a little more. I’ll settle a couple of details and buy a ticket for the first flight to Boston”.
His voice darted and you were sure that “a couple of details” would probably turn into a disaster for him.
"How many?"
This question clearly alerted him.
“Well, I don’t know for sure, I’ll try to meet the week”.
"Are you sure?"
“I swear, Baby. A week. Week and I will be home. With you. We’ll order food, watch a movie, maybe drink some good wine and more. . .”
You grinned into the phone, and he did the same in return.
“Only Sam. . .”
"What?"
“Call me, okay?”
“I promise”.
Promise.
You've heard this all too often for all of the year, and in fifty percent of the cases, he really kept his promises.
But not at this time.
Three days have passed since that phone call, but there was still no call. It alarmed you, but you reassured yourself that Sam had a lot to do, and you did not need to distract him from his “work”.
You were worried.
You couldn’t sleep normally all this time, and only on the fifth day, after unsuccessful calls to his number, did you decide to call Nate and find out if Sam contacted him. To which Nate could not say anything, which made you worry even more. You tried to call Sally, but his phone was locked. This whole situation terribly enraged you. You literally couldn't find a place for yourself. You didn’t sleep, didn’t work, didn’t eat anything and was under stress all the time.
Such a situation was not the first in a year of your life together, but he always returned, after a day or two. It was then that you realized that when he returns. . . if he returns, he will have a serious conversation.
10:15 evening
Ten days have passed. You were sitting in a living room on a bright sofa, wrapped in a warm blanket, there was a terrible wind in the street, you did not want to freeze all night, knowing that you won’t be able to fall asleep quickly.
There was no strength left and you almost fell asleep, when you suddenly heard the sound of a parked car in the yard, right next to your house. You walked slowly to the window, rubbing your eyes, and all you could see through the blinding headlights was a taxi and a man coming out of it.
Sam.
You opened the door before he could get the keys. Your glances clashed and emotions swept over you. Seeing him you did not know what you want more. Kill him or kiss him.
“Hi”.
He said calmly while you emptied stood in the doorway and looked at him.
“Sam, we need to talk”.
It was all that you could pass out of yourself, looking in more detail at all his wounds and bruises, as well as a broken nose.
You entered the house, he threw a bag on the floor, took off a denim jacket and carefully sat on the sofa in anticipation of this conversation.
“Okay. . . what's up? What have I done?”
His words baffled you. What did he do? Is he serious now?
You took a breath.
“Well, let's start with the fact that you lied to me”.
“In what sense?”
“You said you needed another week. Week Sam. And then you return home ten days later, not answering my calls, as if nothing had happened. You lied to me!”
Your tone made him look away somewhere on the floor, he understood that he had deceived you and was ashamed of it.
“Yes. . . I know, but I was really busy, there was a shitty connection, and for the last three days I have not been up to calls, I have had serious problems, dear. And I'm generally happy that I survived”.
“That's it! You are constantly in danger. I understand that all this is part of your big adventure, but what if. . .”
“If. . ?”
He forced you to say that.
“If one day you will not return”.
“Oh, come on”.
His hands reached out to yours, but you slowly pulled away, continuing to speak in a trembling voice, not at all from the cold.
“No, Sam, I'm serious. It has been getting harder for me lately, just the thought that you can be shot and just thrown into the ditch that comes to mind is driving me crazy”.
He looked at you silently.
“I can not sleep at night and all this time I think about you, about how you are and what is with you. I’m increasingly starting to realize that I’ll never adapt to your lifestyle”.
He looked at you warily. Realizing all this, but still not having the courage to tell you that he really is sorry, and that it is his fault.
“You knew what you were doing when you said yes”.
“It means I made a mistake”.
You said firmly that moment you got up from the sofa, leaving the living room you went to the bathroom to wipe away the tears that you tried so hard to hold back.
“(Y/N), stop, (Y/N)!”
He followed you to the bathroom and deftly grabbed your hand before you had time to open the door.
“Sam, don't touch me, please, I'm tired of this”.
You didn’t try to break out, you just wanted it to end. You would go upset to sleep on the bed alone, and Sam would sleep on the couch, as was the case whenever you both cursed. In the morning, usually, everything returned to normal. He apologized, cooked you breakfast, and you cooled down and did not want to be mad at him anymore.
This was not the case.
“I just want to understand what's going on, (Y/N)”.
“Don't you understand? I’m tired of being afraid, for you. . . and for us”.
He got you and put his chin on your vertex. To his surprise, you calmly stood tightly clinging to him, perhaps because all this time you thought that you would give everything in the world to hug him again.
“I understand, but you shouldn’t. . . all this time I managed, escaped, survived. Until now, no shit has happened to me, and all thanks to you”.
You raised your head.
“If the price for all this is my suffering, I’m not ready to pay it”.
You wanted to turn away so Sam wouldn't see your tears, it was damn painful to tell him everything you think. Straight in the eye. But it was necessary.
“Sam, have you ever thought, what would happen if you died?” What if you were never found. What would Nathan have to do then, and me? What if we had a child-”
He took a deep breath, closing his eyes.
“Just don't start, okay?”
“Jesus, Sam, I’m saying that if we want to start a family, we don’t have to start with a lie. No need to make each other suffer or worry, because it will only get worse. If you want the same as me, you give up something. As always. . .”
He looked at you with bewilderment and regret, not being able to find the right words, pursed his lips and freely dropped his hands.
“I. . . I'm sorry, (Y/N), I love you, but. . . i'm not ready. . . to refuse”.
These words hurt more than a bullet, echoing in your head. You just looked at the ceiling, trying to hold back your tears. Your whole body was shaking in the face of making a difficult decision. Your palm went down to remove the engagement ring and put it in Sam's.
“I thought we had one goal”.

Chapter 51: No Egg Rolls? All Problems!
Chapter 50 | Masterlist | Chapter 51.5 | Words: 5,598
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Natasha's not really a fan of the events taking place tonight. Apparently she didn't agree to spending a night away from me, and she said traditions can fuck right off out the window.
———
Wanda did not agree, so now I am lying wide awake in a bed worrying about her.
*Incoming Video Call*
"Baby... I can't do this..." Natasha's silhouette desperately whines into the phone.
"Woah, if you wanted out you should've said something before everything was booked... Now who will I get to marry me on such short notice."
"Hey... Stop making fun of me... I don't have long before the warden returns from the bathroom..." She whines.
"Baby, just put your AirPod in, lay the phone down, and we can fall asleep together." I suggest and she reluctantly nods.
"I love you Natty."
"I love you more Mrs. Romanoff." She softly replies, then lays her head down.
"I love you most..." I tiredly reply, as my head hits the pillow, and I see her shake her head in playful disagreement.
— —
The sun rays shine through my windows, and I groan, annoyed as I had not left my blinds open.
"There she is!!!" Maria cheerily greets, I throw my pillow at her face, and she quickly dodges it and jumps into bed with me.
"Five more minutes..." I grumble, and roll over to slam my face into the mattress.
"Good morning to you too princess, Wanda's sent me to collect you as she finishes up some last minute arrangements, so it's now time to take you to get your hair done and put your dress on."
I look over to grab my phone and see Nat's perfect sleeping face, at first I'm jealous, then it just serves to bring me a sense of peace. I take a screenshot of us before I hear Yelena yelling, so I hang up.
"Does witchy know you two were on the phone all night?" Maria creepily whispers into my ear from behind and I nearly jump out of my skin.
"Jesus 'Ria, last thing I need to do is have a heart attack before I marry the love of my life." I gasp out, and roll over to face my day one.
She's smiling down at me, and I can't fight the smile that springs on my face.
"My baby sister from another mister is getting married..." She tearily whispers out, and engulfs me in a hug.
"I'm so happy for you Y/N/N, you deserve the absolute world, and I know without a shadow of a doubt that Natasha will stop at nothing to give it to you."
"Thank you 'Ria, for everything, I love you so much..." I cry out into her shoulder and she pulls back to wipe my face.
"No tears pretty girl, we have a wedding to get to."
With that, we're up and running out the door, as I grab my garment bag and fanny pack.
*Good morning my darling girl, you look rather gorgeous when you sleep...
Tumblr media
Love, Y/N soon to be Romanoff *
*I'm sad I didn't get to see your gorgeous face when I woke up, but I'm more than thrilled to be seeing it at the end of the altar in less than three hours...*
I smile at the immediate text response, then slip my phone into my fanny pack. I'll be with the warden soon, no need to further stress her out.
— —
The getting ready process was honestly a breeze, as Wanda snapped her fingers and my hair was perfectly put together.
Pepper was sat in my dressing room, drinking wine and making sure that Morgan was comfortable in her little suit. She'd insisted on wanting to match Auntie Nat, so she's in a custom made two piece red suit, with a black shirt underneath.
Nat's POV
I'm currently stuck with Yelena, who's barking ill advised orders at me, and offering me an 'escape.' Laura's currently running late, as Nate was apparently freaking out. Wanda—the warden—had apparently instilled the fear of God into the poor kid, so he was a bit hard to get through to this morning.
"Natasha... If you need out, I can help, love is scary... Kate Bishop tried to say the words to me the other night, and I jumped out of her window. It was pretty cool actually... We'd been eating pizza, then her hand was in mine, her eyes were all googily and I just knew... I had to run..."
"Jesus, Lena, I love Y/N, and I'm not scared of it like some people here are..." I groan, nearly rubbing at my face in frustration, but stopping before I ruined the makeup I ended up having to put on myself.
"Oh, yeah, that's true. I'd kill you if you left her." She grumbles, giving me nothing but whiplash with her conflicting statements.
"So, that's a no ri—."
"I'm here!" Laura shrieks, as she enters the room with all three of our garment bags, and I smile up at her in relief.
Where's Clint?!—Worst Maid of Honor ever..
"Thank God you're here, I had to talk her out of running." Yelena exclaims, and Laura just looks at me in amusement, as I roll my eyes and she passes the garment bags out.
— —
I'm currently walking out to the makeshift altar which is set up in the sand, as I'm being escorted out by a seemingly frightened Vision who's taken up his human form.
Coney Island is absolutely empty, a total ghost town, I shiver to think how much Tony was made to drop on this venue alone. It's honestly funny, I'd have married Y/N at a courthouse or in an alley, all that matters to me is that she's mine and I'm hers—indefinitely.
The altar is rather large with a multitude of flowers surrounding it, and there's a long red carpet lining the sand to reach it from the sidewalks. It's an intimate wedding, so the seating is practically nonexistent, with only a few chairs for the kids to take their place in after their parts. Everyone else is expected to just stand for the ceremony.
"Well, Miss. Romanoff, this is where I leave you, good luck." Vision somberly announces, as he leaves me at the end of the altar, and I start to get overrun by my fear induced thoughts…
Am I dreaming? Like… Am I in a coma?
Is she going to run?
Finally realize that she’s too good for me…
Am I going to blink and find that nothing actually changed? Is this just another vivid nightmare, and she’s still going to be gone?
I’m interrupted by the sounds of classical music and I turn my head to see that all of our friends had gathered in the audience. To my left Lila’s in a simple purple dress playing a keyboard and Coop’s in a simple suit, with a purple tie, and he’s got his guitar in hand.
I then look down the aisle to see Clint in a black suit, with a white button up, and a purple tie. Wanda’s linked arms with him, and she’s matching him with a purple shall over a black dress that falls just below her knees. They go to separate, with Clint going to the right behind me, but before Wands goes left she quickly runs over to me and hugs me.
“You look beautiful as ever Nat.” She whispers then pulls back with a comforting smile before she takes her place on Y/N’s side.
*You do too Wands.*
I look down the aisle to see Laura’s in a gorgeous black gown with purple accents, that falls just above her ankles, and purple jewelry. Pepper’s to her left in a white suit set with a red blouse to match—I presume—Morgan’s suit.
After they take their places, Yelena stumbles onto the makeshift aisle, on the heels she proclaimed she could handle…
“I’m a trained assassin Natasha, heels are nothing.” She had grumbled, but refused to even give me a demonstration on flat land, and continued to negate my statements that sand would be more difficult…
Thankfully Maria was there to hold her up. Both women were in suits, Maria’s was the classic pinstripe suit set, over a navy blue blouse. Yelena’s was the opposite, with a navy blue pinstripe suit set, over a black blouse. As they approached the altar, Maria guided Yelena to her spot beside Laura, then firmly squeezed my shoulder before taking her place next to Pepper.
The music stalls for a brief moment, while I look to see Kate is guiding Nate back to the actual spot he’s meant to be, opposed to the spot he’d just been throwing a pile of flowers down. His little feet can’t seem to stay still, and his face is overtaken by the biggest smile I’d ever seen. My heart bursts at the sight of the little guy in his identical suit and tie set to match his family. Kate nudges him forward, as she throws the previously dropped flowers over his head, and he saunters down the aisle, scattering perfect piles of flowers as he does. Once he reaches the end, he sets his basket down, and lunges into my leg, and wraps his arms around me tightly.
“I love you Auntie Nat.”
“I love you too lil man, thank you for all of your help, you did good.” I whisper back as I gently rub his back, and then his mom ushers him off to a seat up front.
The fear in me continues to fester, as I am yet to see my soon to be bride, I’d not gone more than five hours without her by my side since she’s been back. I know I’m being irrational, but it’s hard to feel worthy, her love for me’s the truest thing I’ve honestly ever experienced. I also still can’t shake the feeling that she’s halfway across NYC in an Uber, running for her life…
*Natasha, that girl is nowhere close to a runaway bride… I’m sure Tony’s just holding her up…*
I sigh at her statement and shake the fear out, then I hear the music begin again, looking up quickly I see the most beautiful sight I’d honestly ever seen, and I lock gazes with my favorite set of y/e/c eyes.
*You can say that again..*
*Watch is witch*
Y/N’s POV
“Nugget, I got Happy in the lot, say the word and I’ll get you out of here..”
I slap his arm, honestly offended that he’d think I’d need a getaway car.
“Tony, I’m marrying the love of my life, the last thing on my mind is an escape.” I sternly reply, as I fix my flower crown for what feels like honestly the zillionth time.
“Then breathe, okay… Just breathe for me…” He commands, as he gently grips my shoulders and I meet his adoring gaze
I release a breathe I hadn’t realized I’d been holding onto, then allow for him to bring me in for a gentle, yet secure hug.
“You know, I really did dream of this moment, every time you’d make me play house with you as a little kid. There was never a doubt in my mind you’d be a beautiful bride, and one day soon I hope, a great mother. You look absolutely gorgeous Y/N/N—truly stunning. I’m so proud of you, and I’m truly sorry for everything you’d gone through to get here. I’m just glad we’ve mad it to where we have, and I can’t wait to see where we end up… So, are you ready?”
“Yeah, I’m more than ready…” I giddily reply, as I jump up and down in my place, and he chuckles as he takes his place to my side.
We watch from afar as Nate’s struggling to get his locations down, and I can’t help but smile at the innocent mistake. I look to see Wanda’s also smiling, bringing me a sense of relief that the warden’s possibly retired.
Natasha’s face is lit up, and I’m honestly grateful we’re having the big wedding, she deserves the whole nine yards. My cue to head up is played, but I lean back for a moment to give Nate his moment with Natasha, then once I see her eyebrows furrow I know I’m worrying her, so I lead Tony to the aisle, and smile warmly at her as our gazes lock.
For a moment I find that I’m stuck in place as I truly take her beauty in; she’s wearing a simple black blouse, that’s partially tucked into her red trousers, and a matching red blazer is over the blouse. She’s wearing her hair down, in simple beach waves that fall slightly above her shoulders. Her neck is adorned with her everyday gold arrow chain, then I see she’s wearing a new necklace that falls slightly above the arrow, and it resembles a constellation. My smile somehow grows as the sentiment of the jewelry hits me, and my bare feet move in step with Tony’s. I’d wanted to feel everything, all the way down to the sand beneath my toes.
My attire was far from traditional, as I’d instructed Wanda to match me as best she could with my bride to be. It’s an ombre’d style, tube top dress, starting as a dark black, that slowly fades into a light grey. My hair is pulled back into a tight bun, and the flower crown is situated perfectly in place with bobby pins. My makeup was pretty light, with a simple eye look, and a vibrant red lip. The only jewelry I’m wearing is a silver necklace with a widow’s charm in black, that is centered between our initials in red.
Tony and I suddenly reach the front, and I see Natasha’s hand is eagerly outstretched, but Tony’s grip on me tightens. He turns to me, clearly searching my eyes for something, then his grip shifts to my lower back to push me forward once he’d apparently found it.
Nat’s POV
Y/N’s hand links with mine, and I slowly guide her in front of me. It takes everything in me not to surge forward and capture her lips with mine, and wrap her up in my arms. Her smile is ravishing and I’m actually grateful we’d ended up where we have, as I now know a dark alley wouldn’t have been able to give her enough room to shine.
*Yeah, that’s a no brainer*
*Please, allow me my thoughts in peace on my wedding day*
*Fine…*
“Dearly Beloved!” Tony shouts, pulling Y/N and I’s attention from our loving staring contest, as we shift to face him as he’s now centered behind us.
“We are gathered here today, in front of our dearest family and friends, to join two extraordinary women together in harmonious coupling.” He says, with a booming voice, and an air of shocking professionalism.
I peek to see Y/N’s amused smirk, as she stares at her brother with a fondness.
“Y/N , do you take this woman to be your wife, to live together in harmonious matrimony, to love her, to honor her, to comfort her, and to keep her in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?”
“I do” Y/N beams as I look over to see her eyes glaze over with unshed tears.
“Natasha, do you take this woman to be your wife, to live together in harmonious matrimony, to love her, to honor her, to comfort her, and to keep her in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?”
“I do.” I reply with an immediate urgency to my tone, and Tony smiles down at the both of us.
“Now, before I continue on with my portion of the ceremony, the women of the hour would like to recite some vows of their own.” Tony states, as he urges us to face one another.
“Y/N” … “Natasha”
We both tried to start, clearly having not gone over this last minute addition to our wedding. Y/N chuckles, and wipes at her eyes, then ushers for me to go first, so I do.
“Y/N, my darling girl, I could honestly sit here reciting all my pet names for you but we don’t have all day, and well, I have the rest of our lives to do that now, don’t I? I’m not sure of much, the world’s to unpredictable for me to be, but the one thing I’m sure of is the love I have for you. I’ve never been one to settle down, always having to move at the drop of a hat, and never ever really placing roots down anywhere. Meeting you has changed my perspective completely, your forgiving nature pulled me in, and your pure love gripped me. The concept of running is no longer something I wish the entertain, all I want is this, this white picket fenced life with you. I’m ready to call you my wife, to build our dream home, and to start on building our family, whatever that may be. I love you detka, with my entire heart.” I manage to get out passed the sudden lump that had formed in my throat.
Y/N’s fully crying, and I grab her other hand, and slowly bring them to my lips to kiss gently. I drop her hands, then reach up to wipe away at her tears, then watch as she takes a shaky breath in, then chuckles lightly.
“Natty, I knew I should’ve gone first…” She laughs out, and I reattach my hands with hers, as our friends laugh and sniffle along with her.
“I knew from the start that I’d be unable to shake you, not that I’d ever actually wanted to, I just always wanted you to be okay. You’d stood by me, regardless of how anyone had thought of me. That conviction in never judging one by their worst mistake is something I find absolutely admirable in you. Every chance to surprise me, is something you took and ran with. Your soft heart—though seemingly icy to an onlooker, is the warmest place I’d ever resided. Your arms—though trained and used to fight the evilest of things, are my safest place to be. Your eyes, those beautiful green orbs of yours, might be able to scare off the average person with a glare, are able to speak more to me than words ever could; your lips, my God, they’re absolute heaven when they touch mine, or when they speak those words that reach right through to my heart. I’m eternally grateful for every part of you that there is to exist, even those parts that you fear in yourself, I cherish them. I promise to cherish you for as long as we both shall live my beautiful little… perv.” Y/N genuinely recites, with the sweetest of eyes, then she lightly laughs at the end.
I tearily chuckle, then go to pull her in for a kiss, as it just felt more than right to do. However, I was met with Tony’s hand intercepting us, and a glare was being sent my way.
“Not yet, you eager little assassin…” He playfully retorts, and we turn to face him once more.
“Now.. As beautiful as that all was… Repeat after me.” Tony gets out, then begins to recite his next monologue while looking to Y/N.
“I, Y/N take you Natasha, to be my wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part.”
His gaze shifts to me, and I follow suit.
“I, Natasha, take you Y/N, to be my wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part.”
Y/N and I shift to face one another again, as Tony announces that it’s time for the rings to be exchanged. Pepper had gently slipped out from the front, to guide Morgan down the aisle, as she carried the rings on a red pillow. She smiles up at us, and pushes the pillow upwards, as she firmly stands in place. Y/N and I each grab our rings for the next stage, and Pepper moves the pillow over to a chair. Before she can move, I scoop Morgan up as she squeals, and I situate the girl on my hip, and she nuzzles herself into me.
“I give you this ring as a token and pledge of our constant and abiding love.” Y/N recites, as she slides the ring that once belonged to her mother upon my ring finger.
“I give you this ring as a token and pledge of our constant and abiding love.” I recite, then slide the customized ring I’d had made to correspond with mine onto her ring finger.
“Now kiss!” Morgan shrieks into my ear, and her father glares her way and gently pulls her from my arms.
“Hey, that was my line…” He grumbles as he tickles her, and she laughs boisterously.
He clears his throat, then says:
“Without further ado, and by virtue of the authority vested in me under the laws of the State, and the internet, I now pronounce you wife and wife. You may now kiss one another.” Tony shouts, and I waste no time pulling Y/N’s smiling face to mine.
Our lips collide in a desperate yet gentle kiss, my hands drop to her hips, as I move to pull her closer while our lips move together in tandem. I turn my face slightly to get a better angle to deepen the kiss. My tongue slips passed her parted lips with no resistance, then I feel her smirk into the kiss as Clint shouts.
“Hey! There are children present, remember that!” I hear his grunts that follow, as Laura had elbowed him almost instantly.
I reluctantly pull away, leaning my forehead against hers, relishing in her warmth. Then I grunt as I’m shoved into her, due to the sudden impact of Yelena and Wanda running forward to hug us.
“I never doubted this for a second, not even when Natasha was begging me to help her run away…” Yelena rushes out, as she squeezes herself between us, and Y/N looks up to me with a pinched gaze.
“I did no such thing.” I whine, as I slap Yelena upside the head, and she turns away to pout against Y/N.
“Okay, I love you both, but we don’t have long for the hugs. Everyone gets you for another thirty seconds before we have to run off for the short ceremony, then you two are free to explore the venue as the world will be yours for the taking.” Wanda—the warden—rushes out, as she pulls Y/N from my grasp and nearly crushes her.
Clint and his bunch crowd me with well wishes and hugs, then Y/N appears at my side to accept the same. As Sam went to approach us, Wanda clapped her hands and the group of us found ourselves in a new setting.
“How long had she been practicing that?” I mumble into my wife’s ear, as I find us sitting at a table, with our friends at smaller tables in front of us, all with perplexed stares—still stunned from their travels.
“Attention, this is time for speeches, I have Tony, Clint, Yelena, Maria and myself slotted for speeches. Then after that, we’ll have the women of the hour share a dance with their loved ones, then they’ll have their first dance. Lunch will be served after, then we’ll cut the cake, open gifts, then the rest is up to you.” The warden speaks, as Wanda’s no longer with us, and I look to see Y/N’s face contort in both worry and amusement.
My focus is solely on Y/N, as she focuses on all of the speeches. I watch as her face goes from sentimental, to disgusted, then to amused, then rounds back out to sentimental. I simply hear the simplest of mutterings as everyone steps up to speak.
“Don’t impregnate my sister without expressed consent!”
“I know how to bury a body in under a minute, take from that information what you will.”
“You know, I asked her to marry me first, it’s kind of unfair if you think about it…”
“I’m not a coward, so I’ll be upfront, if you break her heart, your days are numbered Romanoff. I trust you to do what’s right though.”
“My darlings, wherever you go, I hope you know that I will follow…”
I gulp at the sound of Wanda’s “promise,” that feels far more like a threat, as her speech ends.
*There’s no escaping me Tasha.*
*Yeah, I am regretfully well aware…*
*I love you too.*
“Tony, Y/N. Natasha, Clint. To the dance floor!” The warden shouts, and we make our way there swiftly, and dance along to the song Wanda had selected for us.
“If you need to crash then crash and burn, you're not alone. 'Cause there has always been heartache and pain, and when it's over you'll breathe again… You'll breathe again When you feel all alone, an the world has turned its back on you. Give me a moment please. To tame your wild, wild heart Let me be the one you call, If you jump I'll break your fall”
Once that song comes to an end, I pull back from Clint’s embrace, and he smiles down at me.
“I’m proud of you Tash, you deserve this.”
He gently nods my way as he departs, then I feel an arm wrap around my waist, then spin me abruptly.
“He’s write darling, you deserve this, and so much more. I’m hopeful, and excited to be able to give it all to you.”
“I have no doubts.” I muse, as I lock my lips onto hers, and she sighs against me.
“Natasha and Y/N, sitting in a compound!
F-A-L-L-I-N-G!
First comes, insane bouts of drama, then comes an unjustifiably long amount of time before they finally get together, then comes this beautiful marriage, and accompanying song, all courtesy of one marvelous, Wanda Maximoff!”
Wanda belts out, as she smirks our way, and I groan and throw my face into Y/N’s bare shoulder.
“What was that?” Y/N laughs out, as she tighten her hold on me and Wanda smirks our way.
“I told you I’d finish the song later… I just didn’t think it would have to be four years…” Wanda laughs out, then starts the speaker, as our song starts to play out.
Y/N throws her arms over my shoulders, as mine fall to her waist, and she leans her face against my shoulder.
“When the rain is blowing in your face, and the whole world is on your case. I could offer you a warm embrace, to make you feel my love.”
Plays out loudly, and I move my hands until my arms are wrapped around her completely, and she’s flush against me.
“When the evening shadows and the stars appear, and there is no one there to dry your tears. I could hold you for a million years, to make you feel my love.”
Y/N pulls her face back from my chest, and glides one hand from behind my neck to cup my cheeks, and pulls me in for a sweet kiss while I continue to lightly sway us.
“The storms are raging on the rolling sea, and on the highway of regret. The winds of change are blowing wild and free, you ain't seen nothing like me yet”
She shifts in my embrace, until her backs flush against my front, and my hands are linked across her abdomen. She’s leaning against me, with an unbreakable smile on her face, and I lean down to place a line of kisses across the side of her neck.
“I could make you happy, make your dreams come true, nothing that I wouldn't do.” I whisper into her ear, along with the song, and she turns to face me once more.
“Go to the ends of the Earth for you. To make you feel my love” She continues the lyrics, as I lightly boop her nose, and she giggles, and she leans in to kiss me once more.
“I love you Natty.” She murmurs against my lips.
“Ya lyublyu tebya.” I reply, and continue to kiss her with determined lips.
Everyone starts clapping, and I’m reminded that we’re in the middle of a blanketed beach, surrounded by our family.
“Who’s hungry?” Wanda shouts, then everyone takes their seats, while Y/N drags me to the seats.
Y/N’s POV
As soon as Wanda said food, I was seated, with a towel over me, ready to devour what’s placed before me. I smile as I see an onslaught of servers making their way out with plates for everyone.
Once my plate is before me, my face instantly drops, and my lip begins to quiver against my will, as a stray tear falls down my cheek.
“Detka, what’s wrong?” Nat instantly finds herself lifting my face by my chin to focus my attention elsewhere.
“Whe—Where are the egg rolls?” I sob out, and Natasha’s face pales, when she realizes there’s actually none in sight.
“I-I, my only dream was egg rolls..”
“I thought having me at the end of the aisle was a dream come true.”
“Not the time Natasha…” I grumble, feeling as she stiffens at my use of her full name.
“What’s wrong?” Wanda quips as she rushes over.
“Is the steak not cooked properly? Did you want the salmon instead?”
“Wanda… Ru—.”
“The steaks probably fine, sure the salmon is too, but the problem I’m having, is the lack of egg rolls present!” I eerily state, while I stand to level my body with Wanda’s, and she smirks.
This bitch is actually smirking…
“Yes darling, I’m smirking…” she laughs out, then whips her arm around from behind her back to present me with a container full of fresh egg rolls.
I snatch them from her, and break out into a happy sob, while shoveling one in my mouth. Wanda laughs, and Natasha just stares at me as if I’ve lost it.
“Your lack of faith in me is astonishing Y/N/N, but I forgive you, I’m just glad you’d finally become a Bridezilla.” Wanda quips, then leaves us to enjoy our food, leaving a chaste kiss to both of our cheeks as she does.
——
As Natasha and I peacefully walk along the shoreline, I soon find myself stopping us to get a photo.
“Natty! Stop!”
“Why?!” She laughs out, as she pulls me closer.
“This is a perfect spot for a photo!”
“Wanda already got photos at the wedding.” She grumbles, and I just pout.
“I know, but this is just us, without all the noise… I just want a few simple shots with the setting sun, please…”
“Anything for you darling.” She chuckles out, and pecks at my lips repeatedly until my pouts gone and I’m giggling.
I snap a multitude of photos of us, immediately changing my lock screen to the one of her kissing my cheek, while the rays perfectly reflect around us from behind.
“Perfect.” I mumble, then drag her off towards the hot dog cart, to purchase a ‘dirty dog,’ and a cotton candy for us, then continue dragging her until we’re at the ferris wheel.
“Slow down detka.” She laughs out, but I pay her no mind, as I get us into the ferris wheel cart.
I snuggle close into her side, and instruct the man to leave us up at top so we can watch the sun setting, only allowing him to move us if our guests request to be let on.
“This is nice…” She mumbles against my neck, as she’s now shifted us until she’s got me straddling her, as she is placing love bites on my skin.
I’m casually eating my cotton candy while she does so, watching as the sun slowly sets.
“Yeah, except you can’t see the sun from there.” I deadpan, and she chuckles against my skin, and my body instinctually shivers.
“You seem to be enjoying this as much as I am, but I can stop if you’d like…”
“It would be for the best, because no way am I having sex with you on this rickety machine.”
“Why not? Not interested in rocking the boat?”
“Nat….” I whine at her terrible pun, and pull myself off of her body instantly.
“Baby… I promise I won’t try to have my way with you here…”
I fluster almost instantly at the shift in her demeanor, and the tone of her voice.
“… I however do not promise the same for our honeymoon…”
I slowly climb back into her lap, thoroughly turned on by her promising words, and she smirks.
“… I plan to fuck you senselessly my sweet girl, I’ll be making love to you internationally…”
I whimper at the words, and again at the feel of her lips returning to my neck.
“Fuck…” I lightly moan.
“Exactly baby…” She chuckles out, and continues to work her magic…

I want to hug you and your anon so bad. We who struggle with mental illness are strong and beautiful people that deserves happiness and love. We deserve it so much even though our mental illness tries to convince us the opposite. I love you so much C and I haven't known you for that long but you're one of my close friends whom I care about deeply. I love you and anon, don't hesitate to write to either me or C if you need support of any kind. You're beautiful and you're valid. 💛
I’m honestly so much stronger than non-pathological people, because they get up every morning without any feeling of despair and without battling an overwhelming need to just stay in bed and not exist, so like, rationally I feel pretty good about myself, like seriously, I’m a superhero, we’re superheroes, fuck, we need so much strenght to do what we do facing what we face, so like, suck it people, we’re actually so strong.
And Nate, you’re one of the kindest people I know, seriously, I hold you close to my heart, and if you ever need something, just come to me. Thank you so much for this message, and @anon, you’re not alone.

Parenthood: Beach Retreat.9
"Do we have to go back? Can't we spend the rest of vacation here? With you doing this forever?"
"What?" Mira giggled. "Rub your tummy?"
"Yes," Laxus moaned, wiggling his toes in delight as he stretched out on the motel room bed. "It's heavenly. A heavenly demon. Unheard of."
"Actually-"
"Mmmmm." He kicked one of his feet that time. "Yes."
"You're like a dog," Mirajane giggled, lying on her side next to him, his shirt unbuttoned and hanging off her shoulders. "Or do dragons do this too?"
"I don't know, but don't stop."
"You're so cute." It was her turn to hum as she added, "But the sun's coming up."
"So?"
"We have to go back."
"No," he told her softly. "We don't. Stay here. Do this. And blows. Forever."
"You just got a tad less cute and still no."
Opening his previously skewed eyes, Laxus whispered, "Was it the forever? Or the bl-"
"What do you think?"
He sighed. "Forever is a bit greedy, I suppose."
"A bit," Mira agreed with a wry smile. "Hey, Lax?"
"Mmmm?"
"You know that I don't… It's not that I don't like when we get to, you know, get away. I just love the boys and our life and-"
"I ain't one of those shallow men that get all bent out of shape because their wife, gee, loves her fucking kids. That's dick thing to do. And if you don't know me well enough to know that-"
"I just feel like sometimes I'm ignoring you."
"You're only raising the best little kids ever," Laxus pointed out. "It'd be expected."
"If we ever grew apart though...over something like that..."
"Hey." He sat up some then as her hand stilled and he reached one of his owns out to cup her cheek. As Mira nuzzled into his palm, he said, "Nate brought us together. He would never drive us apart. Or Pike. Or even this next spawn you've been blabbing about."
"I'm thinking girl," she told him with a grin. "Or boy. Either would be great. Don't you think?"
"I think," he chided gently,, "that you should get back to rubbin' my tummy."
That got the giggle he was hoping for. "Okay, but checkout is in a few hours."
"Yeah, yeah. Just get to rubbin'."
As they were enjoying their lazy morning in a bed twice removed from theirs, Pike was awaking to what would have been a peaceful day; had it been his mother in the kitchen, making his breakfast, and not his Aunt Lissy, who, while a good substitution when sleep still crusted his eyes shut, was not at all like his mother upon closer inspection.
Neither Gramps nor bubba nor Mace or even Uncle Elf could stop the tears once he realized that Mira and Laxus were nowhere to be found. He got told what a big boy he wasn't being as well as what a good boy he would be if he just caled down and listened to them.
It was too late, however, as hysterics quickly set in and Pike was lost to the world.
And what kinda world was it? Huh? Where one minute, you have a mommy and the next, you just don't? The boy didn't know that if poked around a bit, Nate knew far more on this topic than him, albeit not knowingly, and would no doubt have a fascinating insight.
Pike though had no time for deep introspection or even shallow outro-spection. He just wanted his mommy back. And his father too, if that could happen, but mostly just Mirajane. No offense to Laxus or anything, the man was great, but when he got to those deep, sorrowful sobs, only Mommy could calm him down just right.
He loved her. A lot.
Why couldn't they just all be together forever?
In the end he worked himself up into such a fit that he had to be taken back to bed, wrapped up in a blanket, and allowed to sleep it off somewhere.
"Maybe he'll feel better in an hour," Freed sighed.
"I don't care if he does or not," Evergreen complained. "Muzzle him from this point forth."
"Pike's just a man," Elfman grumbled, shooting his wife a frown at the suggestion. "And sometimes men have to have a good cry about things. That's all."
"That," Bickslow complained as he passed the kitchen with his hands over his ears, "is far from all."
"Oh, please," Freed huffed at the sight. "You and your children are far more boisterous than he was."
"Hardly."
"I figured you'd like the sounds, Ever," Lisanna offered. "A child wailing? In despair? Seems like something you'd get off on. Be careful, Elf, you might just get lucky tonight."
"Watch it, little girl."
"Ugh." Elfman shook his head and headed out of the kitchen, towards the living room where Nathan and Mace were playing in, done with their breakfast and very interested in cars. "Leave me out of this."
"Ha! Lissy!" Bickslow was back. "All the hits today, huh? It's your turn to beat up on Ever."
From the stare the woman was giving her, Lisanna decided that that was the antithesis of a good idea. "Uh, no thanks. You carry on as usual, Bicks."
"Your call."
Luckily, before that hour they were giving to Pike was up, Mirajane and Laxus strolled in, all nonchalant, as if they walked in after sunrise all the time.
"Mommy!" Nate was at her side immediately. "They made me eat Lisanna's nasty eggs and I hated them!"
"Awe."
"Mira," Laxus scolded. "Don't encourage that."
"What? He's so cute when he wants me to snuggle him."
"You reenforce bad behaviors."
"Staying married to you is a bad behavior."
Grunt. Touche.
"Pike," Makarov announced to them from his seat in the living room, where he was giving them very disapproving stares, "was very dismayed to awaken to find that he was alone."
"Alone?" That time Laxus snorted. "He's got all of you here."
"Something tells me that he does not see it that way. At all."
"What did he-"
"He cried," the old man said. "Relentlessly. We had to put him back to bed he was so upset by you not being here when he woke up."
"I need to go check on your brother, Nate." Mirajane bent down to snuggle him in her arms a bit before standing and heading off. "Go back to playing with your cousin, huh?"
He didn't like the idea of that until he glanced over there and saw that Mace, that foolish boy, was playing with one of Nate's cars without permission.
Unacceptable.
Leaving Makarov to deal with that, Laxus and his wife headed off to go check on their baby boy. He was all cuddled up in Gramps' bed, a few stuffed animals strewn around.
"I didn't know we let him bring this many," Laxus remarked to which Mira only shushed him before going over to the bed and gently shaking the child's shoulder.
"Pike? Sweetheart? Are you still sleepy?"
Blinking, he was shocked to find the same blue eyes that he had staring concernedly down at him. Then he bolted up, almost smashing his little head to Mirajane's.
"Mommy!"
"Awe."
"Buddy," Laxus scolded as the boy only wrapped his arms around Mirajane's neck before beginning to hug her. "Were you bad?"
"No."
"Did you cry?"
"No."
"Laxus, leave him alone," Mira sighed. "It was our fault. We shouldn't have left him-"
"With his grandfather? And relatives? Come on, Mira. He can't act out."
"He wasn't. He's just a little baby. Aren't you, Pike?"
Most definitely.
Laxus, with a sigh, only reached out to pat his youngest on the head. "Just try and be a big boy sometimes, huh? Me and Mira can't always be with you, you know."
No. What was the man talking about? Why couldn't they? What was that supposed to mean?
"Hush, Lax." Mirajane was carrying Pike then, along with one of his favorite stuffed animals, out of the room. "Did you eat, baby?"
"No."
"Well, Mommy will make you something, alright?"
Superb.
And Laxus knew then that he'd lost his wife for the time being and went to find something else to do. Nate and Mace were still in the living room, but a change of hands seemed to have occurred as it was Freed and Bickslow in there with them then, the former looking less than pleased about something.
"-mean you don't wish to play at the beach today?" Freed was complaining. "It is a very nice day out. You should go outside and dig for treasure. You-"
"We wanna dig for treasure anymore," Mace told him as he rolled a car around on the floor. Nate, with a nod, looked up at the letter mage.
"Yeah," he agreed. "That's boring."
"How is it boring? Digging for treasure is-"
"Boring," Mace said. "We did it forever. And we didn't find anything."
"But what if this time I could guarantee-"
"Boring," Nate repeated. "We're playing cars."
"You always play cars! How is that not boring?"
"Because it's cars." Nathan was confused then and only stared up at Freed. "And those can't get boring."
Meh. Mace could think of a few times, but no need to bring it up right then.
"Freed, don't play into them," Laxus said as he headed into the room and over to where the boys were playing. "You can only figure out a kids mind if you are a kid."
"That makes no-"
"So," the slayer kept up, "Bickslow, do you understand?"
"Actually, yeah." The seith nodded. "Cars never get old. Come on, Freed. Use your head."
Laxus only shook his head. It was hard always being right.
Sort of.
Staring down at the boys, he said, "You guys don't have to go dig if you don't wanna right now. In fact, I was thinking that we could, I dunno… You wanna build a fort or-"
"Yes!" Mace jumped right up at the suggestion. "Fort! Let's build a fort!"
"Great. Go get me all the pillows you can find, huh?"
Nate wasn't nearly as interested in this, but his cousin had been promised forts all trip and, well, what could he do? Besides, after breakfast, Pike wanted to build it with them, but only if Mirajane helped, which meant that Nate got some more time with his other and that ore than made up for the crummy fort building.
It was kinda nasty though because Laxus and Mirajane seemed to still be coming down off their high of spending an uninterrupted night together, meaning he kept kissing her randomly and she kept complimenting hi and it was just all around annoying.
Why did his parents have to love one another? How come he couldn't be like Mace and have them not be weird and just try to rip one another's heads off constantly? Huh? Was it just too much to ask?
Freed, who was still sulking over his failed mission of the treasure chest kind, was inclined to agree. He didn't want to see anyone happy. Not after he'd wasted time and money on the ungrateful offspring of the man that he most admired who, at the moment, couldn't spare any admiration for anything other than Mirajane's bum.
Bleh. He felt like Bickslow or something, ready to just throw a big tantrum, add in some vague threats, and then be on his merry way.
When she passed the room at one point and saw them more than a tad snuggled up to one another, directing more than helping put the fort together, Evergreen also wanted to gag. It was still beyond her at times that the great Laxus Dreyar had been brought down by the ditzy Mirajane Strauss. Then she remembered the flip side of both of them and, meh, it was still a stretch, but a conceivable one.
Especially given the circumstances of their joining.
Still though, sickening to watch unfold.
"What are you doing in here?" she complained at the sight of Elfman in their bedroom, riffling through his suitcase. "I thought I made it clear-"
"Not now, Ever," he grumbled. "I'm looking for something."
"Because that's completely helpful and not at all a bit vague."'
"I packed some extra jewels somewhere," he said simply.
"What do you need them for?"
"There's a grill out there, yeah? On the deck? I wanna use it."
"Oh, like that won't turn into a disaster. Try not to poison us all, huh? Spare the women and children, at least."
"No one," Elfman grumbled as, after retrieving the cash, he got to his feet, "said anything about you having any of it."
That got a snort out of his wife as she crossed the room, headed to the adjoining bathroom. "Whatever, idiot."
"Mature."
"Likewise."
Elfman only bounded right out of the room and down the stairs, calling out if anyone wanted to head into town with him. Lisanna and Bickslow, who'd more than outstayed their welcome everywhere else (apparently, their jokes were not appreciated), readily accepted.
"I am," Laxus grumbled as the door shut behind the three of them, "so glad that all of the are gone. So glad."
"Oh, Lax."
"I am, demon. Annoying as-"
"Shush. And Nate, that part of the blanket's falling. You better secure it."
Mace was pretty content with their fort building. It was massive! And great. As much passion as Nate had for cars, he had twice as much for forts. Just spectacular they were. Blankets and pillows and cushions and just sheer awesomeness. Nothing beat them.
Nothing.
Pike mostly spent his time enjoying the fact that his parents, as Nate had deemed it, were so disgustingly in love. Mainly because it meant that they both sat there, next to one another, where he could see them and not worry about them running off. He didn't think that their kissing was gross and he definitely didn't mind when Laxus would nuzzle his head against Mira's neck. It was just something that they did. He liked it just as much when they kissed and snuggled him.
Nate was just weird, he figured.
But a dang good fort builder. And everything else. It went with the big bubba territory.
When the fort was finally complete, it left the boys with a great place to play cars, Nate decided. And the others had tons of space to do whatever they wanted. Like color for Pike or loudly sing his ABCs for all to hear for Mace. You know, whatever floated their boats.
"Wow, guys," Laxus said as he army crawled through the little entrance to have a look around for himself. "Pretty spacious."
Mirajane was already in there, with Pike, setting up his corner. He had gotten all his stuffed animals fro Gramps' room was making them comfortable. Glancing over at her husband, she said, "I'm sorry, were you invited?"
"Were you?" he challenged back. "Boys, I thought we went over this. No girls. Boys only. It's, like, the most common law of forts there is."
Mirajane gave him the stink eye. "Oh, hush."
"You hush."
"Mommy's not a girl," Nate complained, not looking up from his cars. "She's mommy."
"Thanks," Mira grinned. "I think."
"Aunt Mira's a lady," Mace simplified. "Not a girl."
"A lady, huh?"
Pike waved over at him. "Daddy. Hi."
"Hi, buddy." Laxus continued to crawl then, headed over to the boy and his mother. "What are you doing?"
"Playin' fort."
"Pike," Nathan complained with a huff. "You don't play fort, you big baby."
Well, maybe Nate didn't play fort, but Pike definitely did. And he played it very well. All his stuffed animals thought so.
"Daddy, you're too big," Nate said then. "Get out."
"What? I helped build-"
"Us and Mommy only."
"What? This isn't-"
"Mommy," Pike giggled. "Mommy."
"Will you listen to me sing?" Mace asked his uncle.
"W-Well-"
"I want Aunt Mira too," he said then. She always liked to hear him sing. Always. She said that he was just like her and had an amazing voice. Uncle Laxus mostly just put on his headphones and drowned him out or told him to shut up. Both led to shatter dreams, so either way it wasn't great.
"Fine then. I don't need you people. A woman and a bunch of little boys. I'm a man. I have friends. I have lots of them. I… Freed!" Crawling backwards then, Laxus headed right back out of the fort. "Let's hang out!"
Finally. Freed had only been waiting forever for those words.
And he hadn't even really needed to bury that fake treasure. Huh.
"What is it that you wish to do together, Laxus?" Freed asked as, in vexation, the slayer stormed out the backdoor and onto the deck.
"Something," he growled, "to make Mirajane jealous."
Freed about died. "S-Surely you don't mean-"
"I do." Laxus glanced back at him. "You're going to get the honor of setting up the hot tub for and then serving me beers and lunch at some point. Chop-chop."
The letter mage blinked that time. "Surely you do not think that will make Mirajane jealous...do you?"
"Of course it will," Laxus argued. "Mira loves doing my bidding. It's one of her favorite things about our relationship."
That time Freed sighed. Sometimes he envied the woman and her romance with his idol and other times, he only felt pity towards her.
Shockingly enough, however, (to Laxus at least) he got the attention of a Strauss, but not the one that he'd been pining after.
"Aw, gross," Elfman remarked at the sight of his brother-in-law lounging in the hot tub. "You're out here?"
Laxus frowned. "Yeah, I am, Elfboy, so get lost, huh?"
"I wanted to spend some time out here, reading."
"Reading?" Freed, who was at the table, glanced over. "What sort of book is that?"
"Well, I don't know, Freed. I haven't read it yet!"
Laxus snorted from where he was. "You? Reading? I have to see this."
"I'm expanding my boundaries."
"Sure."
"Is that what you went to the store for?" Freed continued as Elfman joined him at the table. "Or-"
"Steak. I bought steaks. For dinner tonight."
"Hmmm. The demon cooks my steak," Laxus told him simply.
Elfman glared over at him. "I don't think I mentioned bringing you one."
"Watch it, Elfboy. I ain't in the best of moods right now."
"You and Mirajane can go out to dinner again," Freed sighed, ore to keep the peace than anything else. "Clearly, Elfman is going to be cooking for the children at least. Right?"
"Of course. Real men provide for their children."
"That's great and everything, but could you, I dunno, go learn to read somewhere else?" Laxus sunk lower in the hot tub. "I'm soaking."
"Sulking?"
"Soaking!"
"But both," Freed said with a shrug.
"Me and the demon could go out again," Laxus mulled then. "Hmmm."
"I bought Mira a steak," Elfman grumbled. "Just not you."
"Stop pushing me, Elfboy. Before I just-"
"Oh, dragon, stop being mean to Elfman."
And then there was Mirajane, walking out onto the back deck as well, three little boys dressed in trunks following.
"What," the slayer growled, "are you guys doing? No. No! I'm having one-on-one time in here and-"
"Ew, gross, really?" Mirajane moved to grab Nate's hand, stopping him from running over to the hot tub.
"Not like that, woman. But no! Don't let him go! He's gonna-"
"Hi, Daddy." Nate clambered right into the hot tub with the man, Mace soon to follow. Laxus only frowned at them both.
"What happened to your super cool fort?" he complained as Pike, from Mira's arms, pointed over at the hot tub, as if directing her to carry him that way. "That I wasn't allowed in?'
"Is that what this is all about?" Freed asked with a frown. "Honestly?"
"We wanted to come play with you now," Mace told him. "Uncle Laxus."
"Well, maybe I don't wanna- Pike."
At his insistence, Mirajane had moved to set the boy in the hot tub with his father. It looked just swell. And then, once in it, he'd realized that it was water and taken to clinging tightly to Laxus' neck.
"Why did you want in here if you're just going to behave like this?" Laxus asked with a frown. "Huh?"
Because he loved his daddy and if the others were going to get to spend time with him, then so was he.
Duh.
But all that water… And it was bubbling? Why would Daddy enjoy something so terrifying?
"I got you, buddy," Laxus sighed as he glanced up at Mirajane. Frowning, he watched as she slowly pulled off the shirt she was wearing to reveal a bikini top beneath. "Wow, demon. You gettin' in here too?"
"Mmmhmm."
"Boys, get out. Daddy time's over."
"Laxus," Mira complained as the older two boys glared at him, more annoyed that he was trying to get rid of them than that they had any idea why seeing Mira would make him jump to that decision. "Honestly."
Pike glanced over at the woman, who was across the tub fro the. "Mommy. It's water."
"I know, silly. Why do you think that we put on your trunks? Hmmm?"
Because they were very comfy.
"See, buddy?" Laxus grinned at his youngest then as Nate and Mace took more interest in sitting right in front of the jets, all giggly from the feeling. "It's not so bad. Is it?"
Mmmm….it was kinda hot, but…
"It's great, actually," Mirajane said, relaxing then as she shut her eyes. "And Mace, don't drink the water. That's nasty."
Eh. Debatable.
"Freed," Laxus was saying then, nodding over at him. "You're off duty. Plan was a success. Go...do whatever it is you do when I'm busy."
"I'm sure he has a life, Lax," Mira complained, not even peeking an eye open.
"I'm not."
Freed only got to his feet with a frown. "Yes, well, I would be the one to know such a thing, wouldn't I?"
"I guess." Laxus was more concerned with nuzzling his head against Pike's then. When he was feeling like being like a father (it was more on than off), his friends were kinda just side dishes. And at the moment, he wanted the main course. "Hey, go into town and set me and the demon up some reservations, huh? Something nice."
"Again?" Mira frowned. "We're going out again?"
"Did you not want to?"
"Well, it doesn't seem fair to-"
"Elfboy is watching the kids tonight. Or at least cooking for them."
"Watch them too," Elfman agreed. "I'll teach them how to grill!"
"Yeah, great, whatever." Laxus went back to nuzzling Pike. "Somewhere nice, Freed. Get to it."
"Grilling?" Mace looked over out of the hot tub and towards his father. "Really?'
"Of course. Real men know how to-"
"Gag." Laxus said it and did it literally. "Mirajane, make your brother go away. I'm trying to spend time with my kids, nephew, and woman. He's ruining it. And yes, Mace, you should be stoked about being included. Definitely."
"You should be nicer to your friends, dragon," was all Mira reproofed as Mace giggled some more. "Freed's not just a slave."
"He likes it. Freed, tell her how much you like it."
That only got a slight hum mixed with a groan from the man before he was gone, off into the house.
"See?" Laxus lifted Pike up then, out of the water, and over his head. "He loves it. And I love you, buddy."
Yeah, well, Pike loved not being dangled over a vat of water that he was yet to be certain of it's safeness.
Mmmm. Laxus had had way too many beers as he was waiting for Mira's jealousy to kick in. And way too many sandwiches. Freed knew not what it meant to not over-serve. It had hi all...daddy-ish and stuff. To Pike. Nate, who had sanctioned his banning from the fort, was just on the normal level of fatherly love. Pike though was Laxus' favorite son. For the moment.
Another beer and he'd feel bad for Nate, that he didn't know his real mother, and would be favoring him heavily to make up for the unknown crime. It happened sometimes, the overwhelming guilt and sense of abandonment that would spring back up in Laxus over the fact that his mother too was gone. Until he remembered that Nate didn't know and that Mira had no intention of letting a lapse of motherlessness ever occur again in the boy's life, so yeah.
But Laxus was pretty sure he was out of beer, so that probably wouldn't spring up.
That day.
Maybe when they got back home, Laxus would go out on a job, return, get wasted at the guild, and then spend the night snuggling Nate (against his will) and promising him that he'd be there for him forever and ever (until Mirajane threw him out of the house for being so wasted and forcing him to stay out until he sobered up).
Maybe. Sleeping on Freed's couch was getting kinda old.
Hot tubbing was fun for a bit, but eventually, the boys wanted to go down the beach to play. Not search for treasure though. They wanted to literally get in the water which meant that Laxus had to go down there with them, as well as revealing to Mirajane something that greatly annoyed her.
"Laxus, you were in there in your boxers?"
"Uh, gee, Mira, did you ever see me go change into swim shorts? No? Alright then. And what difference does it make?"
She wasn't sure, but it felt like it made a lot.
Pike was, of course, stark against going down there and went with Mirajane inside to wash up. Bathwater was good water. Safe water.
And then it was pretty much nap time which was great because, right on cue, Gramps got tired too. Not to mention the doggy, but he was always tired (so was Makarov, actually, but whatever).
With free time, Mira set out to find her sister but, according to Freed, she and Bickslow had taken off for the night, claiming that they had very important things to take care of.
"Such as?"
"Honestly," he told the woman, "I do not know. And a large part of me is thinking that it is a blessing that I do not."
Inclined to agree, Mirajane dropped the inquisition there and decided to let Laxus parent the kids for a bit on his own. With Pike off napping, she had just enough time to finally take a soak in that master suite tub Elfman had told her about.
All she had to do was run it by Evergreen.
"Gross. No."
Which was easier said than done.
"But Laxus and I are going out on a date tonight," Mira argued. "And I want to-"
"Again?" The woman was in the kitchen, fixing something to eat, and only rolled her eyes heavily. "Do the two of you have to be this annoying about it?"
"About what?"
"You're decent marriage. It's disgusting."
"Okay, for one, it's perfect, thanks, and for two-"
"No. The answer will still be no after whatever two is, so don't waste your time saying it."
Mirajane only crossed her arms and gave Ever her best glare (no, really, with her bangs being down, it was her best; or at least her husband thought so). "I'll just tell Laxus then that you won't let me."
That made Ever drop the milk carton in her hand and turn to stare at her. "You wouldn't."
"Test," the other woman hissed, "me."
A glaring match occurred then before, slowly, Evergreen gave in and went back to what she was doing.
"Fine," she groaned. "You can use the tub in my room. Just...don't… I don't know! Just don't do anything I wouldn't like in it."
"It's only yours for a bit longer, you know."
"Yeah," she sighed, as if in disappointment. "I know."
Mirajane took her time too, in the bath and then getting ready for their night out. She wasn't sure when they would be leaving, but wanted to be more than ready when they did. And Laxus, who came into their bedroom at one point to see her comparing dresses, was more than happy to sit on the bed and watch her.
"I like it," he told her, not for the first time. "Watching you get all guzzed up and stuff. It's great. And appealing. And… You wanna stay at another hotel tonight or-"
"Behave."
Bleh.
With their parents gone though and Gramps dealing with problems the guild was having under Erza's command through the communication lacrima (a mutiny, as it sounded, over her bossiness, as Natsu put it), Nathan and Pike were left with their very excited Uncle Elf as he embarked on the wonderous world of teaching them how to grill steaks.
"Honestly," he told them as Mace stood around too, all more than a tad bored, just from the explanation. Now, Nate liked the idea of firing the thing up, but other than that, it sounded extremely tedious and not at all interesting. "This is the most manly thing in the world."
"Mmmm," Ever hummed from where she was sitting at the picnic table, hardly glancing over from her magazine, "I can think of a few more manlier things."
"No one asked you."
Pike, who was in his aunt's lap, glanced up at her. "Mommy come home?"
He'd already had a good cry and, since he'd wasted so many tears that morning (and in the afternoon when his nap was interrupted by the doggy having to go to the bathroom and waking hi up), it didn't take long for him to get all cried out. All he wanted was for Aunt Ever to let him sit in her lap and read to him. It was his fault, of course, that he hadn't limited the reading material and gotten stuck with some magazine that went totally over his head. All and all it was okay though, because just the sound of her reading was keeping him calm.
Until she stopped then, to combat with her husband, causing him to remember his missing mother.
Ever only turned the page in the magazine with a sigh. "No."
"Grillin's boring," Nate told his uncle what, clearly, they were all thinking. Clearly. "And we're not men."
"What? Of course you are."
"No," Mace said with a shake of his head. "We're boys."
"And we like it that way," Nate said with a nod of his head. Uncle Elf had explained to him before the many tasks that being a man meant. Taking out the garbage, cutting the grass, working, and, apparently, grilling. All horrible. Nate liked just doing nothing all day with occasional portions of play mixed in there.
Why ever grow up?
No, seriously, why?
"Yeah," Mace agreed as he typically did with his cousin. It was easier that way. On days they didn't agree, well, he more or less had to go home and not play with Nate for awhile. Mainly because he didn't want to and both boys would cry (or bite) when left alone with one another.
It was a very complex friendship, but then again, the best kind are.
Pike though only groaned as Aunt Ever began to read to him about some sort of makeup secret that he didn't understand and just wished had some sort of cute animal or something that overly explained the core concepts of all children's stories about friendship or listening to your parents or any of the other annoying things that got shoved down his throat constantly.
Like sharing. Which was really code for giving Nate and Mace all his toys or else getting pinched or sent off to play by himself because, as they claimed, he was a baby.
Bah!
It wasn't fair. When did he get his best friend? Other than the doggy, Mommy, Daddy, and Gramps, he felt so alone.
Oh, and Aunt Ever was there too, being her usual bratty self, refusing to read him any of the good parts of the magazine (though at that point he was seriously doubting their existence).
Heh.
Grilling never got any better and Pike was disturbed to learn that he wasn't allowed any because he might choke or something equally as silly. So what? He still had baby teeth. Who cared? Not him. What kinda oppressive hierarchy were they running those days? Leaving him out.
Gramps, who'd taken to wearing dentures, felt much the same when he wasn't allowed to have any.
The humanity.
So, in protest, the two of them headed to their room without any dessert (they would be dismayed to find out there wasn't any anyhow) as a show of their protest and, mainly, from their fullness of the other food besides steak they were given, meaning that Pike somehow, in his feelings of unjust exclusion, missed Mommy coming home.
"I really wanted to tell him goodnight though," Mirajane complained that night as she and Laxus got ready for bed, her refusing (quite brutally) his offers of getting another hotel room, leaving him to lounge in their two small bed and contemplate if Elfman was or was not going to bed with Ever (for once) because that would mean, more than likely, that his own wife would force him to go sleep on the couch with the otherwise unaccompanied children.
Sigh.
"Then go wake him up."
"I can't just wake him up, Laxus."
"Then don't wake him up."
"But I-"
"Mira." He only glared then. "Come lay down with me. Now."
"But-"
"I will tackle you woman. You know I will."
With a groan, Mira finished what she was doing before quickly heading over to the bed and falling into it.
"Fine," she conceded, "but you better not try anything, Mr. Dreyar."
"Oh yeah?" He grinned over at her. "And why's that?"
"Because," Mira hummed as she laid on her side, facing away from him. Not that this bothered Laxus, as he only moved to snuggle up to her back, wrapping an arm tightly around her waist. "I'm too busy worrying about Pike dreaming about how I didn't tell him goodnight and now that will make him resent me deep down because most boys resent their mothers later in life, you know, and I just think that-"
"Hold on," Laxus groaned, shoving away from her then before, in only his boxers, leaving the room. Settling back into the bed, Mira had a short wait before an awake (and very cranky) Pike came into the room, stuffed tiger in hand, whining from his father's arms.
"See, Pike? Mommy wanted you to sleep with her."
"I did not," Mira said, though it obvious that she wasn't complaining too much as she quickly took the boy into her arms, snuggling and kissing him to quell his cries. It worked. And, since he was so sleepy already, Pike was out rather quickly.
Then Laxus had to climb back into bed and, with cuddling out, lay there as he watched Mira grin down at her baby.
"You happy now, demon?"
"Mmmhmm."
"Thought you would be." He kicked the covers down a bit more before tugging them back up around them all. "That's all I seem to do these days, you know. Make you happy."
Humming, she offered, "You do a good job at it."
"Yeah." He let out a slow breath, watching as she shut her eyes and drifted off. "I know."
