Page 2. ----- Child Emptied Cereal Into Arsenate of Lead Package ---- NAPANEE, Nov.. 30 - A breakfast cereal being presumably put in a package containing arsenate of lead resulted in Mrs. George Wheeler of Napanee and eight of her family becoming seriously ill. According to medical opinion, it was only because a very huge dose of poison was consumed that death did not occur.

Mrs. Wheeler and her eldest daughter Martha were the most seriously affected but their recovery is expected.

Mrs. Wheeler was preparing the breakfast but did not detect the arsenate of lead with the cereal and became aware of what had happened only when she investigated after sickening spells began to affect herself and family. One of the children, wanting the cereal box, had emptied the contents in the one alongside that containing the poison.

This was definitely an experience to remember! Never have I held a gun until this day and man I never thought I'd be so comfortable holding a gun in my hand. I no doubt need some practice and will for sure be doing this again. If you know anyone who can take you to a shooting range, it's definitely an experience to try at least once in your life! I do recommend to listen to your teachers lol. So, the "Convoy" people in Canada have been emboldened by the events in the US and are now targeting numerous all-ages drag events across the country to disrupt and intimidate LGBTQ+ people, their friends, and their families. There are currently at least four events that are being targeted. The fascists are also organizing a walk-out at a high school (details below) for students who want to protest against "woke ideology" and the presence of trans students.

"HEALTH DEPT. INVESTIGATION," Daily Standard. October 15, 1913. Page 2. ---- Dr. Maloney Was Out Along Napanee River. ---- Will Report to the Government Re Health Conditions - Expected Difficulty will be Removed. ---- Dr. Maloney, District Medical Of- ficer of Health, has been for the past week on a tour of inspection of the country along the Napanee River, with a view to determining the extent to which the health of the residents along the waters is exposed to danger of disease by reason of the flooding of the land by the dams which are along the stream.

It will be remembered that some time ago a Government Commission met the residents who were objecting to the presence of the dams, and investigated the extent of the damage to property and the inconvenience caused to property owners in the district. The Commission made report to the government which is now in the hands of the cabinet.

Now the Provincial Health Department has taken the matter up and ordered an investigation by Dr. Maloney. In the appeal to the authorities by the people along the stream the removal of the dams was asked for on the two grounds of damage to property and inconvenience to owners, and because the draining of land in July and August, leaving it exposed to the hot weather, was a cause of sickness and disease among the residents. These two objections have now been investigated and Dr. Maloney will make a report to the Government which will later be taken up in conjunction with the previous report. It is expected that the result will be that the difficulty between the Napanee River Improvement Company and the residents along the waters will shortly be settled.

I didn’t post it when Emmanuel Hebert posted his living room, but now he’s posted more of his home’s progression and I just have to share it. This is Manoir Blackswan in Canada. Of it, Emmanuel says, “Here's a few pictures of my ever evolving home which gathered lots of interests in the past weeks on this group!”

“Welcome to my world,” says Emmanuel.

“I am currently working on 4 new rooms concept, the Red Room, the Stripe Room, the Tea Room/Boudoir and the Dollhouse Room. Also next spring will be the beginning of my 2000sq2 French Garden construction!”  (This was the only room he posted before and I fell in love with it.)

Is this not amazing? Some members thought that the living room was a lamp store!

“We finally finished building the three floor staircase! Now it’s sanding and staining time! The color of the staircase will be the same as the right front newel post and the doors, some kind of cognac, patinated tiger oak finish. Also, the third floor staircase wall will become black as well!.” he said.

The bd. is getting an MCM flair.

Art Deco Powder Room, design by Emmanuel. It has a 12 ft. ceiling, plaster moldings, 1920’s Porcelain Pedestal Sink and beautiful lighting. The ceiling fixture is a late 1920’s French Art Deco nickeled bronze fixture.  “ Lighting is the jewelry of a home,” says Emmanuel.

Can’t wait to see what he does w/the finished attic.

“Getting some crazy pieces on my treasure hunting trip these days! Here’s a massive late 19th century Victorian Pier Mirror! Quite a find! “

“My newest acquisition, a set of 9 thrones and 2 pedestals dating from 1870’s and made in Napanee, Ontario by Gibbard Furniture. The set was commissioned for a Odd Fellow’s Lodge.”

“Treasure hunting of the day, a monstrous pair of early 20th century cast iron floor candelabras salvaged straight from its original church. They stand at 68” tall and weight about 100 pounds each!” (Does he know how to shop, or what???)

And, this a photo of a moody dramatic Sunday night in his living room. I can’t wait to see the rest of house when it’s finished.

NAPANEE – A recent trip to the vet has drained hundreds of absolute units from your bank account after it was confirmed your furbaby was in perfect health.

The vet was heckin’ thrilled to report they found nothing wrong despite a bill that would suggest life saving measures were taken during the fifteen minute check-up.

“Pet owners think we are doin’ them a frighten when in reality this is just the cost of basic pet healthcare,” remarks veterinarian Laura Rodrigo. “I took an oath to use my scientific knowledge and skills to benefit society, not bamboozle it.”

While it took a substantial chonk of change to establish that your pet is completely fine, it’s important to celebrate the small victories, like knowing their sudden change in behavior was due to a lack of attention and not a treatable medical issue. While admiring your baby’s wittle toe beans the vet did suggest some follow up tests to rule out additional concerns so you can start looking for a second job when you get home.

With no government subsidies for veterinary medicine, limited options for pet insurance and high business costs to run an animal hospital, vet bills will continue to cause much concern and many financial stress for pet owners.

“I don’t think you can put a price on love when it comes to your pet,” says Miles Pelleta whose doggos health was just rated 14/10. “Sure this money was meant for a down payment on a new car but now we can go for more W-A-L-K-S while I work my way out of D-E-B-T.”

There is hope with the increasing popularity of “pet parents” that one day goob bois and little loafs will qualify as dependents and be tax deductible. Until that smol step for petkind happens, you are encouraged to remain in Canada where you can still afford the cost of hooman healthcare.
