Celebrating Black Arts

After leaving my tour at the Guardian Building, I noticed there was a man giving out cups of coffee outside of 1001 Woodward; exactly what I needed for my afternoon pick-me-up!
I've been wanting to check out "Celebrating Black Arts" to enjoy the art and fashion, and it just so happened that the coffee was a part of the month-long celebration.
I made it in time to see a panel honoring the late Detroit poet, Naomi Long Madgett, and even met Martell of Sepia Coffee Project.
Thank you for a beautiful day!

"I wouldn't coax the plant if I were you. Such watchful nursing may do it harm. Let the soil rest from so much digging And wait until it's dry before you water it. The leaf's inclined to find its own direction; Give it a chance to seek the sunlight for itself. Much growth is stunted by too careful prodding, Too eager tenderness... The things we love we have to learn to leave alone." #NaomiLongMadgett . . Being a plant mom has taught me so many things; I swear they have done magic on me and improved every aspect of my life. If you want patience and love... get a plant. (Or 500 like me 😅 The babies all got to have recess in the rain today 😍🌧🌱💚✨ UGH LOOK HOW BEAUTIFUL THEY ARE 😭 #aintnoparty like a #houseplantparty #horticulturaltherapy #splitleafphilodendron #flamingoplant #laceleaf #anthurium #plantsofinstagram #vsco #vscocam #vscoplants
