Chance waited for Kellen to go before finally turning his attention back to the building. It was warded to hell, inside and out, but he had gotten rather good at reading the sigils over the years. They would have allowed Kellen in, but not out and he knew Sera would have been pissed had he allowed the boy to come to harm. 

With a resolute sigh, he made his way inside, skin prickling in the rush of energy as he followed the only real path he could see through the old and derelict building. The last thing he had expected to come across was his step-father in chains.

“Now this is hardly the bait most would choose,” he remarked, leaning in the doorway and studying him for a moment. There was something off in Azrael’s posture and he couldn’t quite put his finger on it.

Izzy didn’t really do long term hookups. Anything that resembled commitment tended to lack fun, so when they’d decided to stop hooking up, he wasn’t heart-broken, because he never was. But he’d also been having a pretty good time with Carson and it seemed a shame to end things so soon. If he didn’t know better, he’d almost say he missed the other. But that was ridiculous. Still, he didn’t want to just end things because of Carson’s family. That seemed stupid and it hadn’t stopped Izzy before. So about a week and a half Ophelia gave them the news, he dropped by Carson’s place, grinning when the other opened the door.

Tea and Sage || Closed RP

There were some days when she wondered if she’d ever be able to properly feel the tips of her fingers again. Years of cuts and callouses had built up, though she couldn’t bring herself to care, not really. Twine slid through her fingers as she wrapped it carefully around the bunch of sage and wildflowers. Work like this was relaxing, almost as relaxing as digging through the dirt or pruning roses. It was almost mindless, the movements second nature as she hummed softly to herself. And it made the rough fingertips absolutely worth it.

Tying off the twine, she set the bundle aside with the rest and arranged them neatly in their little basket before sitting back with a sigh. The shop was closed for no other reason than she just wanted a day to herself. She could afford it, and she reasoned that she deserved it. So she’d sat around and made cuttings, bundled flowers together to dry, brushed the cat, organized the junk drawer. Just small things to pass the time. 

Now she was getting antsy.

Acting on impulse, she pushed herself back from her worktable and stood before grabbing her jacket and purse. The air outside was crisp and cool and she found herself taking in a lungful before letting it out again, not minding the way it bit at her skin and made her shiver. Hands shoved in the pockets of her coat, she continued on down the street and rounded the corner, slipping into the first shop she came to.

The smell of incense and tea hit her and wrapped around her like a blanket. It was comforting and she found herself smiling. “Hello,” she called as she sidled up to the counter and propped her elbows on the worn surface, her chin cradled in her hands.

It wasn’t uncommon for Chance to follow other members of the family for various reasons. Kellen wasn’t one he trailed after often,  but he was smart enough to know when something felt wrong. It wasn’t until the boy was about to walk through the door though did Chance actually make his presence known.

“Go back to your mother’s, Kellen. Whatever is beyond those doors does not concern you. It’s a trap.”
