Finally caught up again on these posts, I'm partway through the 4th of these 6 films, The Thin Man Series. 🎞️ Chapter 27: The Thin Man After the Thin Man Another Thin Man Shadow of the Thin Man The Thin Man Goes Home Song of the Thin Man 🎬 The Thin Man series were comedy mystery movies (that might've skirted with a hint of noir, were they darker and bleaker), based on books and characters written/created by Dashiell Hammett. The characters Nick and Nora Charles (played by William Powell & Myrna Loy in all 6 films) directly inspired one of my all time favorite podcast segments, Beyond Belief from Thrilling Adventure Hour. This was more than enough reason for me to want to watch. Over the course of the series the likes of Maureen O'Sullivan, Cesar Romero, Jimmy Stewart, Virginia Grey, Sheldon Leonard, Shemp Howard, Donna Reed, Stella Adler, and Tor Johnson, among others. There are (as ever, not surprisingly) some problematic elements, though so far nothing too severe (comparatively), and on a whole so far, I am enjoying them. The Many Faces of Myrna Loy

Myrna Loy was born Myrna Adele Williams in Helena, Montana on August 2, 1905. She was a successful actress in early Hollywood, appearing in 83 films between 1924 and 1949. Loy had a versatile acting range and was adept at playing both comedic and dramatic roles. Some of her most famous roles include the comedy The Thin Man (1934) and the drama The Best Years of Our Lives (1946). She was also well-known for her portrayal of Nora Charles, the wife of detective Nick Charles (played by William Powell), in the Thin Man series of films.

Warner Archive releases the final Thin Man movie, Song Of The Thin Man, featuring Dean Stockwell as Nick and Nora Charles' son, in January. Here's hoping that Warner Archive will turn their attention to the 1957-2959 Thin Man TV series, staring Peter Lawford of Frank Sinatra's Rat Pack fame.
