“Huh. Leave it to the asari to hide their bouncers in their dancers, so to speak.”

Random Cyril [ & Crew ] Headcanons  →  Part 2 / ?? ❖ DISCLAIMER: This post mentions physical injury, abuse & slavery. ❖ 

The members of Cyril’s crew who are permitted to carry whips ( higher ranking officers ), and who receive training from him in how to wield them, typically only carry snakewhips or shorter, considerably easier to handle bullwhips. These are most often used to intimidate, or else in practice used to grapple or beat unruly slaves. A commanding officer drawing their whip on a crew member and / or striking a crew member with a whip for any reason is a punishable offense, warranting Cyril’s personal involvement. Whips are heavy in their symbolism in Cyril’s ranks and he is extremely strict about their usage.

+ [ cont’d ] In the same vein, it is a punishable offense for any crew member to whip, beat, or mistreat any slave without valid reason or justification, or to excess. Crew only have jurisdiction to administer minor behavioral corrections, and even these will require a higher ranking officer’s input. Severe punishments or beatings are administered only by Cyril, and while typically are something of a spectacle, are actually few and far between. Such severe consequences necessitate extremely severe offenses ( ie plotting revolt, serious injury to the crew, serious injury to another slave, etc ). The list of behaviors Cyril considers drastic enough to warrant his personal attention is short.

Cyril, and a select platoon of the crew, have personal airships that are stowed in a separate hanger within the Vehement herself. In contrast to the lifeboats, which are also miniature airships by comparison, these personal ships seat only one person comfortably. The driver straddles the airship similar to how one might ride a modern motorcycle. There are different controls depending on the pilot’s preferences, and while mostly uniform in appearance, some small amount of customization is allowed as a treat. 

+ [ cont’d ] Maddock - the first mate - is included in this platoon, and is arguably one of the better pilots aboard, definitely better than Cyril. However, the best pilot among this platoon is an Elezen named Uzeux. Uzeux is one of the highest ranking reconnaissance officers aboard, as well as the aerial strategist that will make calls and oversee flight operations. Whenever the personal airships are employed, he is present and assuming a supervising role. Cyril, Maddock, and everyone else in the ranks will defer to his expertise and judgement.

Cyril and Uzeux constantly tinker with and make changes to the personal airships to make them safer, faster, and more reliable. As mentioned before, they have different controls available depending on which method better suits the pilot, and can shift between these modes. There is a hands only mode; which is the easiest and makes for simple landing and takeoff, a foot only mode; that enables shifting and steering to be done with the feet so the hands are free to use a weapon, and a third mode which forces the employ of both hands and feet; this mode provides the greatest maneuverability and responsiveness, and is employed when speed and agility are the primary concern ( ie, escaping or else running away ). Cyril’s known to be a bit of an adrenaline junkie for using this mode constantly.
