Just a Breakup 2
Part 1
Tumblr media
"What do you mean I can't be here?" Villain demanded.
They'd darted into a familiar, and currently crowded, bar. Hopefully Hero wouldn't find them in the chaos anytime soon... but only if they didn't get kicked out.
Bartender sighed and sat down the glass he was wiping. "You don't got cash, and even if you did you don't have your i.d.! We ain't running a charity here!"
"I used to be a regular! Preston can vouch for me."
Bartender's eyes rolled, "Preston don't own the place anymore. He sold it and cut ties!"
"What?" Then Villain remembered, "Oh! Wait. Right. He wanted to go clean after he and his husband adopted that kid."
They'd been at the wedding. Preston had friends from all sides. There were some tensions, but thankfully no fights... Though that might've been because Hero and Sidekick were playing interference all night. It was the first time they'd seen Hero out of uniform.
"Exactly!" Bartender huffed, "So now we gotta follow the new boss' rules."
Villain snapped back to the present, "Who's the new boss?"
"That would be me."
Villain didn't even have to turn to know the voice.
Supervillain took a seat at the bar with his drink. "Breathe, Moonlight."
Villain hadn't realized they were holding their breath.
"What can I do for you, boss?" Bartender asked.
Supervillain smiled, "How about we start with getting my friend here a drink. Do you still prefer light and fruity?"
"Um, yes. That's fine." Friend. Villain felt a bit of pain at the label he'd given.
Bartender nodded and got to work.
Supervillain turned to Villain. "So! What's got you back in this part of town?"
"That's complicated." They admitted.
He sipped his drink. "Oh? Just tired complicated, or on the run complicated?"
Villain flinched. "I am tired, but... On the run complicated."
"Really? I heard you've been hanging off a Sunbeam. Why couldn't you go to them?"
Sunbeams. Supervillain's term for heroes. Blindingly bright and equally as likely to burn you.
Villain had been in the sun too long.
"Ah- they're the reason I'm on the run." They sighed, "I don't really want to talk about it here."
Supervillain nodded. "What about your home?"
"Compromised. They know the escape maze."
"I see."
Bartender slid Villain their drink.
"Thank you."
"Don't worry about it."
And then Bartender was gone, waved over by a customer farther down.
"I didn't know you bought this place." They changed the subject.
"Yes, that was rather obvious." He laughed.
Oh how they'd missed his laugh.
"Can I ask why?"
"You just did." He leaned onto his elbows. "But, sure. There were a lot of reasons. I was planning to come back anyway, Preston wanted it to be someone he could trust, I already had most of the connections he was cutting... It made the transition smoother for everyone involved."
Villain nodded.
"Do you have somewhere to go after this, Moonlight?" He asked.
"What?!" They jumped a little in their seat.
"You said your house is compromised, right?"
Oh. Right.
"Right! Yeah. That." Villain took a long sip of their drink as the embarrassed panic was replaced with real panic.
They didn't. Hero knew all of their safe houses. It was information shared in case of emergencies, but now they regretted it. And without their wallet....
"I could get you a hotel room for the time being?" He offered. "Or you could stay with me. Whichever is more comfortable for you."
That was both the best and worst thing they could do.
"I don't want to drag you into this more than you are already!"
His eyebrows raised, "And how am I 'already' involved?"
"That's-"
"Complicated?"
They breathed out. "Yeah."
"Would you follow me somewhere if it wasn't outside of this building?"
"Yes." They said faster than intended.
"Then follow me."

I'm gonna say no on the drugging @laurenhufflepuff2 , but the idea did drag up something from many years ago so you get characters named after one of my first actively abandoned works. Congrats!

Annette had been caught trying to escape... again.
It was a slightly less embarrassing experience to get brought back to her tank in a bridal carry. As opposed to the way she'd be half thrown over the guard's shoulder if she tried to fight back.
Still, she had made it half a halway farther than usual. It was only a matter of time until-
"Princess!"
Her thoughts were interrupted as her original captor Dr. Frasier's shoes clicked across the sterile tile floor outside the tank.
She sighed and twisted, swimming as close to his viewing area as she could before the chain on her tail stopped her.
"Marcus told me you tried to get out."
"I already know about the cameras Doctor. I'm not going to confirm what you know as true."
He wrote something down on his clipboard and smiled at her. "Good. At least I won't have to administer that test today. I hope they didn't make the chain too uncomfortable? You know why it had to be put on."
"Keeping me locked up in a giant aquarium that barely has anything to do in it? Oh sure! You've told me a thousand times why it's all for my safety! As if I wasn't safe before this... at least from from anyone but you." The chain scraped painfully against her scales as she tried to keep a straight face.
"It would be easier of you hadn't inherited the transformation ability from your mother."
Annette shot at him, forced to recoil as the chain reached its end. "You know nothing of my mother!"
Blood dissipated on the water.
"I know many things about your mother." He putthe clipboard down on a table, "How else would I have known you were royalty, Princess? You never told me."
She glanced between her tail and him. "Honestly I just thought it was a nickname. It's not like you humans don't do things like that to other beings. Other humans... your pets."
"Rather perceptive." He laughed, "No, I meant it the royal way. Though I could probably get them to ease up on you if you really want to be treated like a pet."
His grin never faded as she recoiled in disgust.
"I won't push it for now if you promise not to try to escape when the medics look at you."
"They'd just sedate me."
He put the tip of his pen to his forhead, "Perceptive once more! It's almost a shame to leave you here."
"And yet-"
"I have a job to do. The medics won't alert themselves."
With that he turned and left.
She heard the door lock click behind him and curled in on herself.

Moonlight
Tumblr media
Hero softly shut the door to Villain's office. Across the room their target seemed to be asleep on their desk.
"Villain?" They whispered.
Eyes still closed, Villain's head rose to lean on their hands.
"No one's seen you in weeks! Are you okay?" Hero asked, adding hopefully, "Have you thought about my offer?"
"Oh, Hero..." Villain sat up and their eyes snapped open.
Hero, mind frozen in place, found themself walking across the room.
"I-"
Another step.
"-am so-"
Two.
"-very..."
Step.
"-very..."
Step.
"-tired."
Stop.
Right in front of villain.
Right in front of those shining red eyes that had been blue last they met.
Right as the moonlight seeped through a window to the side, bounching off a tooth that was far too long and sharp.

Just A Breakup 3
Part 1, part 2
Hi @laurenhufflepuff2 , @thelazywitchphotographer
Tumblr media
To say that Villain was nervous was an understatement.
They'd realized where Supervillain was leading two turns before the elevator up to the apartment above the bar.
"Now, before you say anything-" Supervillain slid past the doorway, "It's not much."
The room was much barer than Villain remembered. Fair enough that Preston wouldn't have left anything important behind and Supervillain...
"I still have my old home, if that's what you're wondering." He said smoothly, as if he'd read Villain's mind.
As far as villain remembered that wasn't one of the many things he could do. Perhaps they were being too obvious.
They cleared their throat, "That's fair. It was always nicer than this place's absolute best days."
"Flattery? And on the edge of a bad breakup at that!" Supervillain smiled, "Moonlight, I'd almost think you'd missed me."
Villain swiftly turned to look away. "I just mean, you don't have to do this. I can figure something out."
"Well-" Supervillain leaned against a wall, gaze never leaving Villain. "My reasons for bringing you up here are twofold."
"Oh?"
"Yes. One is so you don't have to scramble for the darkest alleyway in the middle of the night to avoid the sunbeam." He paused.
"...and?"
"The second is to hear a proper explanation now that we're out of prying ears and eyes."
"Right. That." Villain continued to stare at the closest wall.
"That indeed. So, Moonlight, how would I, who hasn't seen you in-" He thought about it, "-six years? Five? Who has only been back for four months without a peep from you-"
Villain swiftly turned, "You've been in town four months?! I only heard about it a month and a half ago."
"- How could I possibly be part of your breakup?" Supervillain met their gaze.
They looked down, "I, um, might have told Hero that I'd thought it over and would rather be with you than them..."
Silence.
Villain glanced up to see Supervillain's mixed expression. Shock, worry, and joy? Though the last one had to be a stretch right?
Finally, "I take it Hero didn't respond well."
"Obviously." They almost laughed, but the worry still on his face made them falter.
He sighed "Have you told anyone else yet?"
"No? I left everything when I ran, and that included my phone."
"And your wallet. Shit."
Their fear resurfaced as they remembered the look on Hero's face before they fled. Calculating. Motivated. Terrifying. The reunion had almost made them forget.
"We'll figure this out. But of all the Sunbeams, you certainly know how to pick them."
"We? No? No. Like I said I don't want to-"
"I'm already involved right? After all, they'll probably have the whole hero team in my business if they word your disappearance just right."
Villain stopped. "Okay. And I know now isn't the best time, but- reactions to the other part of that information I just gave you?"
"Oh? Afraid of a "will he won't he?" Moonlight?"
Their face could not be more red. "No, Starlight. I'd prefer to know so I have one less dangerous ex to worry about."
"Nothing to worry about, Moonlight." Supervillain grinned, "The feeling is mutual. It's cute that you held out as long as you did."
"Shut up."
"But then how will we formulate a plan?"
Villain never felt as equally alive and dying as they did at this moment. They groaned and smiled at him. "Fine. Let's get started."

Falling Apart
Tumblr media
It's not always a big crash
Often it's small
Just little distance
Growing bigger
Until there
Is
Nothing
At
All
Sometimes it's loud
A swear and a click
Regret flowing thick
Syrup
Down
A
Tree
Sometimes it's an explosion
Too many people
Too much heard
Too many hurt
By
Many
Many
Words
And the thread snaps
And the hope vanishes
And you know you will never talk to them again
Never see them again
Never know them again
Never hold their love
Never be suffocated by their pain
Never again
Never again.

Snapped (part 2!)
Told you I'd get around to it. @creweemmaeec11 @undeadnotunreasonable

Powers: Electricity generation/control and Control of one's personal gravity
Part 1 , Part 3
Tumblr media
Voltage was a lot of things: tactical, efficient, determined, and at this very second.... being chased by destiny.
Not destiny in a literal sense, of course.
No xe was being chased across the rooftops once again by a hero, xir nemesis, xir crush. Stellaris.
"You must be tired tonight, starlight!" Xe teased, "You're taking longer to catch up!"
The dust around Stellaris swirled faster as they laughed and sped up. "I was just giving you a head start!"
It wasn't their real voice, xe knew. The bottom half of their mask acted as a voice modulator. Another mystery to uncover.
Voltage dropped onto a fire escape, electrifying the railing a little.
Stellaris followed, jumping when the shock hit them. "Hey! You said you weren't gonna fry the locals!"
"Oh please, It's the same amount as regular static!" Xe smiled from the ground, "Though if you're seeing sparks fly, I can tell you why~."
They rolled their eyes and jumped off, making themself lighter right before they'd hit the ground. "Only in your dreams, charger."
"Ah yes. In my dreams, where you take off that ridiculous mask of yours so I can see you."
"I mean if you take off your equally ridiculous helmet maybe you'd be able to see that won't happen!"
It was always like this. The back and forth, the chase, the adrenaline. Voltage lived for every moment.
And seeing how agile Stellaris was again didn't hurt either.

Snapped (part 3)
@givethispromptatry @sebsterianart @creweemmaeec11 @undeadnotunreasonable
What's this? Two in a day? And linked to the other parts properly???? Who am I anymore?
Part 1 , Part 2
Tumblr media
Somewhere in the upper city...
"I've almost got xem! With just a bit more time, I'm sure-"
Stellaris flinched as the committee leader slammed his glass on the table.
"You've almost had them for months now!"
The committee mumbled agreement, but quieted at his glare.
"We hired you because you were noted as one of the best!" He sighed, "But I guess they were wrong..."
"I'm trying!"
"Trying and succeeding are two different things, Stellaris. Or should I say Jules?"
They paled. How had-?
As if answering their unsaid question, he continued, "I have my ways. And you haven't been entirely devoted to this job."
They were about to speak up-
"How could you be? With you working as a desk clerk on the side!" He circled his drink around, "What was the name of that gym again? Define N Refine?"
"I'll redouble my efforts! Then-"
"Oh I'm sure you will." He grinned, "Did you know that gym owner is a friend of mine?"
"Really?"
A laugh, "Yes, really. I can make sure you don't get fired while you look for the energy thief... but, I'm gonna need some assurance."
Stellaris felt the pause this time, not even opening their mouth to ask.
"You see, my friend has been looking into new business ventures. They just haven't saved up enough to quite afford the next step.-" they took a sip of their drink- "However, that gym is one of their less profitable endeavors. I'm sure with a little push, they'd be willing to give it up! After all they can afford the revenue loss, and the sale of the property would give them just the boost they need to start their next venture!"
"But the people who work there would be out of jobs!"
They'd walked right into his trap.
"That is a shame..." he mused, "But I haven't given the idea yet! And I might not have to... if you find the culprit in time and bring them in."
They froze. "How much time?"
"Considering all that you've wasted... I'd say a month." He leaned back. "I hope you won't disappoint us again. I do so hate a no return investment."
Stellaris felt the eyes of the entire committee on them.
"Of course not."
"You're dismissed."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Another normal day for Max.
Or, at least it would have been normal if there wasn't a different person at the counter to check xim into the gym.
"You're all set!" The lady replied with a smile too wide to be genuine.
"Thanks.." xir curiosity got the better of xim, "What happened to the person who's usually here?"
"Jules?"
Xe nodded.
She seemed surprised, "They're on leave for a month. Family stuff, though they didn't tell me exactly what."
"Oh." Xe paused, "Send my best regards, if you talk to them again."
She gave a knowing look, "Sure will. Enjoy your workout!"
Dana chatted with Rita openly. Retirement was going good, but they had a lot to catch up on.
Rita put down her water. "You ever wonder why I actually changed sides?"
"To redeem yourself? Wash away those 'sins of the father'?"
Rita laughed. "No."
"Then why?" Dana leaned back.
"Because I saw something in your team. Something I was barely starting to have."
"What's that?"
"Respect and kindness... Sure, I had a little bit from my boyfriend, but you all!" She gestured to the photo on the TV stand. "I was more jealous than I thought I'd ever admit."
Tumblr media
Small thing due to some musings, but character development. Set in the future after Dana retires and Eagle Eye takes over leadership of the team.
@givethispromptatry cause I used the majority of this dialog as a prompt submission
Remember Me?
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
Part 4
Yes, it finally has a name.
Hi @thelazywitchphotographer
Tumblr media
Alex paced across her living room as she tried to think of how to proceed.
"You do realize there's another chair, right?"
"I know, but it helps me think." She clicked her tongue. "Don't question it."
Ronald leaned back. "So what can I question then?"
"Hmmm." Alex stopped, "Me?"
"But you just said-"
"Not about that! Just... maybe it would help if we took turns asking eachother questions and see what sticks."
He smiled, "Oh? So I get to know about a pretty lady and if it works I'll learn more? Sounds like a perfect plan."
"You. Are. Impossible." Alex rolled her eyes. "And you've already asked me like seven questions. I'm going first."
His smile only seemed to grow brighter, "Certainly."
"Okay.... What's your favorite color?"
Ronald's eyebrows raised, "Shouldn't you know that already?"
"I'm just trying to start simple and work up. And, no, 'all colors' does not count as a favorite color."
"Actually my favorite color is Navy Blue."
"Huh."
The smile fell. "You actually didn't know that, did you?"
"I think it's been a while since anything around it was brought up." She finally sat in the other chair. "I'm going to count that as a clarifying question, so it's your turn."
"Okay then! What's your favorite color?"
"Red."
"Ooh! Like roses?"
"Like the blood of my enemies." She deadpanned.
He scanned her over, confused and concerned.
Then Alex cracked a smile.
"Oh, so you can joke!" He sighed in relief.
She relaxed into the chair, "Yes, I can. But that aside my favorite color is canary yellow."
"Can I ask why?"
"It's sunny and cheerful like my friend. Well, friends."
"Who's your other friend?"
"It's not your turn." Her head shook.
"You let me ask a clarifying question before."
"That one was relevant to the original question asked. This one was not." She hummed, "How often do you go out to parties?"
"Once or twice a month? I think it was more frequent a while ago, but I'm not entirely sure why I slowed down."
She shrugged, "That I couldn't tell you. But you're right. A year ago it would have been every weekend."
"Do you go out and do anything?"
"I do karaoke night every now and then."
"You sing?" He felt a bit of familiarity with the idea but it disappeared almost as soon as it came.
"Yes, and no I'm not going to right now. I don't mind crowds as much when doing something I enjoy, but socializing isn't exactly my strong suit."
"You continue to be full of surprises." He beamed. "Guess that means I owe you two turns."
"I- sure." She paused, "What was your new first impression of me?"
If an expression could outshine the sun's he would have sworn his did at that moment, "I thought you were fascinating!
"A cute nervous woman declaring that my, our, workplace demanded she help heal me? I admit I wasn't sure you were telling the truth at the time. But you seemed earnest. If it was a plot to get close to me it seemed a convoluted an easy to disprove one."
"And then you found out it wasn't."
"It's even better!" His expression dimmed as he paused, "Well, on my side at least. It's probably harder on you that I don't remember everything."
"We're working on it!"
"Yeah, but it won't be the same will it? When I have my memories back we'll both still remember how it was when I didn't. Sure, maybe not much will have changed, but change will still happen."
Alex moved her chair closer to his. "Change will always happen. It doesn't mean that it's automatically a bad thing though. I mean, how else was I going to find out your favorite color?"
He laughed. "Yeah. You certainly would have never thought of that one!"
She smiled.
"That's not fair."
"What?"
"Your smile is so nice that I can't even sink into misery without it keeping me afloat!"
"Okay Cassenova. If you're so adrift then you'll have no problem answering my next question."
"Oh?"
"How many relationships have you been in?"
"Curious about my love life now? Did you like that I called you cute and fascinating with a nice smile?"
"I can kick you out at any moment, Nathaniel. You wanna test me?"
Ronald took a closer look around the room.
"After seeing your efficiency in the field? No ma'am."
"That's what I thought."
"I've been in... ten relationships I think? In the last decade at least. Though... huh."
"Huh what?"
"I just realized that I stopped looking for relationships not long after I stopped going to so many parties."
She looked confused, "That is strange, but probably nothing. It's your turn."
The bookshelf was a mix of work pamphlets, philosophy, murder mysteries, and...
"Wait, you like romance novels?" He asked, not entirely sure why.
Alex froze.
"I didn't mean to derail! It just seems a little out of character."
Shaking herself out of it with nervous laugh, "It's fine! They're... fine. Just a guilty pleasure. A bit of trash to pass the time."
"If you like them, they're not trash." He waved a hand, "Not in a flirty way this time. I just mean you don't have to rationalize your preferences."
She stood. "Right..! I'm going to get myself some water, do you want anything to drink?"
"Water's good."
She gave a small smile as she dipped around the corner.
Quiet
Quiet is safe.
Quiet is nice.
Quiet means people trust you for advice.
Quiet is simple.
Quiet is sweet.
Quiet keeps you from getting pushed from the seat.
Quiet is more though...
It's scary too.
Some times left in your head, you won't know what to do.
Quiet's constricting.
Don't let it last.
It can make conversations sour fast.
Quiet is binding.
It smothers your pride.
When your opinion differs it tells you to hide.
Quiet is fragile.
It breaks like glass.
It's hard to repair, so prepare for the blast.
Quiet is hiding.
You become a mirror.
Onlookers pick which parts of you that they think are clearer.
It fogs up the glass.
The picture's not right.
Onto you it grasps as the assumptions you fight.
Quiet is demanding.
It can be deadly.
It tells you there's no help even when you're ready.
Quiet is silent.
But it's also a whisper.
It tells you you're too loud when you can't even be heard.
Conversation is a fight
Within your very soul.
You know if you stay quiet, you'll never feel whole.
It's a process to posses
A voice of your own.
The quiet's broken pieces may still dig as you've grown.
It won't hold you back forever
Even if it does tonight.
Someday you'll yell freely
Without the quiet's fright.
@sebsterianart @givethispromptatry kinda a continuation of my Voice poem, but with some progress
Fragments
In every story, there's another to tell
In fragments
The figments
Match the author quite well
A character is a canvas that the writer brings color to
Some's projection
Some's direction
And each a different view
And sometimes in introspection they see the characters there too.
Shorter one, but still meaningful.
Mirror
The mirror sits before my face
But it's not my face you see
Painted over, I'm replaced
By others' versions of me
I want to show the self inside
The way I am in true
But I know caution I must reside
In order to bring forth that view
The paint is layered on
The glass is fragile
I could work till dawn
If my mind stayed agile
But the risk is high
Of the glass being shattered
Yet if in paint I still lie
Will it even have mattered?
So I go bit by bit
And even now I'm not done
But I won't give up on it
Til the real me sees the sun
Tumblr media
Voltage pinned the hero to the wall, free hand sparking, "How do you know me?!"
"I-" Stellaris' voice modulator gave a final crackle before it died.
But I'm getting ahead of myself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jules was a lot of things: anxious, clumsy, determined.... and at this very moment, Late.
They clutched their work documents as they ran. Faces of the morning traffic blurred in their concentration. A walk timer at the crosswalk in the distance ticked down.
"Come on, just a little farther.." they told themself. "You can make it!"
The walk light knew otherwise as the timer ended.
They skidded to a near stop... and tripped on the corner. A firm had grasped their shoulder.
Jules turned to look at their rescuer. "Max?"
Max seemed confused as xe steadied them. "Do I know you?"
"Um" - "of course your crush doesn't know you, you idiot!" - their brain screamed, "I work at the gym you go to? You're one of the people that's there pretty much every time I'm on shift."
Xe examined them further. A hint of recognition sparked, "Right. You were the one that spilled coffee on me once."
Jules' smile strained, "Yeah, sorry about that, again. And thank you for catching me!"
"It's nothing." Xe shrugged, "I'm heading there now actually."
The strain disappeared, "Well since we're going the same way..."
"I'll make sure you don't fall again."
They gave a nervous laugh, "Hopefully I won't need it."
Jules strained not to use their power on the rest of the walk to work. Sure, it'd keep the from making a fool of themself in front of Max.... again.... but it had such an obvious tell! They didn't want anyone targeting xem for them being obvious.
Being lost in thought sure was a way to run into the gym's glass door.
As they backed away, Max opened the door for them.
"So sweet...!"
"Thank you! Again."
Xe just nodded.
"Jules! There you are!" Their manager called from behind the welcome desk.
They jumped, "Coming!"
With a last mouthed 'thank you' to Max, they rushed behind the divider and disappeared.

On the run
Running
Running
From a past that for her 's gunning
Peace is so
Distant
Distant
It only comes just for an instant
Caught again
Trapped
Trapped
In a new thread she was wrapped
By new friends
Freed
Freed
Against the new trap she'd succeed
But the old
Lingers
Lingers
Peace could still slip through her fingers
By her new love
Calming
Calming
The past seemed to be dissolving
Till like a snake it
Struck
Struck
Once more she found herself stuck
The past called her
Beauty
Beauty
Told her not to be so moody
But her new friends
Fast
Fast
Reacted to her stealing past
Her love to her
Side
Side
Into the coils did he slide
But alas he was
Caught
Caught
Hope seemed to be all for naught
Still lest they
Forget
Forget
Their friends were looking yet
The two in chorus
Called
Called
Their friends the puzzle solved
Her secret in the
Light
Light
But with friends did delight
Her past was finally
Gone
Gone
By her friends redrawn
Her secrets now
Secure
Secure
Of hope she was assured.
The peace found its
Way
Way
As she smiled in the new day

https://galaxy-mermaid-musi.tumblr.com/post/653267033865240576/writing-alone
@sebsterianart @givethispromptatry I finally got back to a writing mood!
Part 3!
Tumblr media
"Is this your place?" Ronald looked around.
Oh. Right. He, or she either really, hadn't been back here since-
Shaking her head, she shrugged, "It is."
"When was the first time I was here?" He had other questions, but it seemed more fair to start from the beginning.
The door opened to a tidy main room. It had a couple chairs, a desk, and a bookcase that was just on the edge of overflowing.
She stepped aside to let him in. "The first? When you were my ride to work temporarily while my car was getting fixed."
"Doesn't set off anything." He admitted. He remembered taking the long way to work for a bit, but he couldn't quite place her.
She shrugged, "We have time. You were really preoccupied with your, at the time current, girlfriend."
"Catherine?"
She laughed, "No, the one before her. Penny, I think?"
"Possibly.." he looked at her in wonder, "But how are you so sure it wasn't Catherine?"
Not that he didn't believe her. It was just.. this was the first time she'd laughed. He had to know why.
Her expression shifted to concern, "It's Catherine! She's the one who tried to ban you from having female friends, remember?"
"Of course I do!" Ronald admitted. "She-"
They were going over the paperwork from their latest mission.
"You forgot the filing number again." Alex told him.
Her expression was stern without malice.
He looked the paper over again. "Right as always. You're a deathsaver!"
"Just because we're grim reapers doesn't-"
Her statement was cut off by the sound of heels stomping over to them.
"Ronald, sweetie. What did we talk about?" Catherine demanded.
He turned to her. "We're just working."
"You could 'just work' with anyone else."
He sighed, "You know that's not true. Besides! Alex isn't interested in me that way."
Alex signed her last paper. "Could you two not have your lovers' spat on company time?" She organized the stack.
"This is none of your business, theif!"
Her eyebrow twitched, "I didn't steal anything. I'm not looking for romance, with your boyfriend or otherwise. And if you're about to accuse me of stealing his time, he'd be gone from you the same amount with any other worker here."
Ronald gave a nervous laugh, "See! Everything's fine. You don't have to worry!"
"No! Everything is not fine! She's obviously lying to you!"
Alex stood up and started to walk away.
"Where do you think you're-"
"Nathaniel. Micheals. Pearson."
All three of them turned to the sound of their manager.
"My office. Now."
"-was the worst." He stated, breathless.
She nodded. "Memories again?"
"Yeah. Right before I broke up with her. When she harassed us at work."
Alex thought, "Another emotionally charged one." She smiled. "We're on the right track!"
"Yeah... Yeah we are." He grinned.

Mira
Next in line
After Faye
To dreams entwine
And beg her stay
The promised land
That they portray
Are so grand
Against a waking day
She holds them close
Her answer may
Be on the coast
Of what they hope she'll say
To the strings
She's shown the way
Before timer rings
She'd say okay
The string is cut.
The string is cut.
She turns to her dream lovelies
To find a hollow sight
Was it all a trick?
Was it all a trap?
Her consciousness is forever in night
Never again to see life's light
Never again will those in world awake
Of her presence be able to partake
And does she care
Is she scared?
The fae got paid
The dues were high
In silence laid
Her end seems nigh
But is it so
Or is it neverending?
Now that she sees
The shadows were pretending.
The shadows were pretending.
The string is cut.
