Tag Game: Character Voice
I've been tagged by @spitefulbull!
I'll use my own unnamed WIP with the naive hope that it will help me come up with a title. Or more scene ideas at least :)
My line: "You're lying to me."
Rowan: Bullshit! Victoria: I thought we agreed to be honest with each other. Ollie: Please don't lie. Sam: Sorry, I don't deal with liars. Blizzard: Darling, dishonesty won't get you anywhere. Whisper: How... bold of you.
No pressure tagging @faytelumos @whiteperle3 @fourwingedwriter @gamerkats @chronicallydragons and open tag!
Your line: "Listen to me!"

why hello there, I’m nightshade~
the tales of my silly little antics have been told before, however I’ve left the pages
the ‘story’ I’ve come from is an Earth with superpowers, a tale of heroes and villains- quite dramatic, I know. I’m no good guy, that’s far too boring of a life for a man like myself~ I have mind control powers, which are somewhat hard to use to make people under my control, but can easily cause the brain to think something is one thing or the other. Good for costuming and illusions and what not. Just don’t look into my eyes too long, and I might entrance and enchant you~
Do call me Nightshade, giving my real name away would get me arrested! Hero’s and villains have secret identities for a reason. Though I doubt prison could keep me for long.
(OOC: this is a character from my friends and is various stories, so not all blogs I interact with are OCs from this superhero one! This is your classic basic exposition so don’t mind that-)

@whumpcember Day 26: Collapse
Oops I completely forgot to ost this. But here's some superhero James collapsing from exhaustion after overusing his powers!
“Hurry!” James followed his teammates and the civilians they were leading out of the slowly crumbling building, carrying an injured woman in his arms. He was nearly outside when he heard more screaming from behind them and horror went through him. There were still people in the building. A building that was threatening to fall apart any moment.
“Take her, there are still people inside!” James handed the woman over to one of his teammates.
“Zenith, we have to get out of here! There’s no time! The building is falling apart!” As if to underline their words, a big part of the ceiling broke off and shattered as it hit the ground; which caused more screaming from the people still in the building, coming down the stairs in the far corner of the room.
“Get out, I’ll buy them some time!” James turned and raised his hands and let his power flow.
“That's crazy, you can't…” “Yes, I can, just do it!” Blue glow swirled around his hands and wrapped around the ceiling and walls. James rarely used his powers to this magnitude and it quickly began sapping his strength. The people made their way down the stairs and one of his teammates ran back into the building to help them.
More cracks ran across the ceiling causing dust to fall down, and the stairs creaked ominously. No! It had to hold until everyone was out, it had to! James grit his teeth and focused harder. His eyes glowed blue and he started trembling with exertion, and he was so focused on his task of keeping the building from collapsing that he didn't even notice how warm blood ran from his nose. The world seemed to blur in front of him, and despite his best efforts the blue of his power seemed to flicker and the building began collapsing faster and faster. But at least the last couple of people ran past him.
“Zenith, let's go!”
James looked over at the blurry appearance of his teammate, and before he could fully comprehend what they were saying, he was dragged through the exit of the building. That broke the last bit of concentration he had and as his power faded, the building rapidly collapsed.
There was a faint ringing in James' ears as he stared at the crumbling building, swaying slightly. He was so tired.
“Zenith, Zenith!” James looked over at his teammates and the movement made the whole world spin, and suddenly he realized there was something warm, sticky under his nose. He brought his hand up to touch it, and once he pulled it away he could see that his glove was covered in red. Oh. He looked up at his teammates and darkness crawled at the edges of his vision. “I- I don't feel so good…” James managed to mumble before his legs gave in and he collapsed from exhaustion.

Make It Magik - Prologue
Jie was sitting at the front door, waiting and kicking her legs. Her dad was in the kitchen, working on dinner. Jie glanced at the clock, and impatience crawling all over her. She laid on her back, groaning in boredom. “Daaaaad!” she called out. “When is mom getting hoooome?”
“Hmm..” she heard her dad was around a bit and then he was there, standing above her. “I’m not sure. And don’t lay off the floor, Jie. It’s filthy.”
“Hmphhhh…” the whined as she sat back up. “Ok, but, when is mom getting home?”
“I’m not sure.. she should’ve been home by now. She must’ve had to stay late to work.” He gave her a reassuring smile. “Out catching bad guys.”
Jie smiled brightly and nodded. “Ya! Man, mom is so cool!”
“Yes she is..” he said with a grin before scooping up his daughter. “Ahhh! Dad!” She exclaimed, laughing.
“You need to go set the table, young lady.”
“Noooo!” She said, giggling and wriggling free.
“I’ll get you to set the table one of these days!” He said with a dramatic villain voice. “One day!!!!”
“Never!!” She exclaimed, running and laughing. She rushed into the dining room and sat in a seat, laughing. After a moment, she managed to catch her breath and slouched into her chair with a grin.
After a bit of a pause and continuing clattering coming from the kitchen as her dad made dinner, the phone rang. “Could you get that, Jie?” Her dad called. “Ok!”
She couldn’t reach the landline and so she had to move a dining room chair to the wall and took the phone off the wall and answered the way her parents have told her to always answer the phone with, “Fànt Household, this is Jie speaking.”
“Yes, hello?” Said an unfamiliar, formal sounding voice. “Is Arnošt Fàng there?”
“Hm? Um, yes!” She placed the phone on her shoulder and called for her dad. He came into the room, wiping his hand on the rag. “It’s for you,” she said, handing him the phone.
“Oh?” He said, curious as he took the phone.
Jie hopped off the chair and moved it back to the table and then played with her paper dolls, continuing the storyline she was playing earlier with the superhero lady who learned that her best friend was actually the one who killed her mom. In the background, she heard her dad slowly getting quieter and quieter and then the phone dropped. Jie jumped in surprise when she heard the clatter of the phone. She turned to her dad. “Dad..? What’s wrong..?” She asked nervously as she stood in her chair. He didn’t move for a moment before her began turning left, than right, as if he was trying to figure out where to go, but wasn’t sure where. His fear was scaring her. “D-dad!” She said again. “What’s wrong!”
He stumbled a bit and ran to the front door, putting on his shoes. “Jie, put some shoes on. We need to go, now!”
“W-what? Wait, why? What’s wrong? Where’s mom?!”
“Cmon!” She jumped and ran over and sat down. She strapped the velcro of her pink Sketchers on and her dad picked her up and the two rushed to the door. She felt her heart racing. He strapped her into her booster seat and rushed out of the driveway of their house. She was shaking and they hit multiple potholes and rushed a couple red lights. Her dad was never this reckless at driving. It scared her. She felt like crying. But she forced herself to remain brave. Her dad was scared. She didn’t want to cause him more stress by crying. They pulled into the parking lot of the hospital, the parking job terrible as they bypassed the lines. He opened the door of the backseat, unbuckled her from her booster seat, and slung her over his arm uncomfortably as he ran in. She was even more scared. She didn’t know what this place was. She’d never been to a hospital.
Her dad rushed into the hospital and went to the receptionist. “I’m here to see my wife! Hero Witch, Xiuying Fàng.” He was hyperventilating as the lady directed him to the room. They rushed through the halls of the hospital, passing doctors as he was clutching Jie tightly. “Dad..” she said quietly, but he didn’t respond. Don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry… she thought, shaking fearfully. Her dad burst into a room. There was the slow beeping of a heart monitor and nurses in the room. “Sir!” A nurse exclaimed. “You can’t be in here!”
“Let me see my wife!” He yelled, tears streaming down his face.
“Sir, please-!”
“Xiuying!” He yelled.
Seeing her dad like this terrified Jie. She never saw him cry. She couldn’t see her mom over the crowd of nurses. Where were they? Where was her mom? Why was her dad crying?
While her dad was trying to push past the nurses, sobbing and screaming Jie’s mom’s name, Jie wiggled free from his arms and snuck past the nurses. “Mom..?” She whispered and slowly approached the bed. The yelling in the background. The beeping of the heart monitor. All the noise canceled out as she peaked over the bed. Her mother, Xiuying Fàng, a Witch, a hero, a mother, a wife, a friend, an ice magikar, a beautiful woman..
Xiuying Fàng died that day while fighting a flame magikar and had been scorched by his fire and had died that night, in the hospital, with her 6 year old daughter, Jie Fàng, looking over her burned body.

Whumpuary 2024 No. 1
Captivity | Snow | Secret Revealed
Whumpuary Prompts List
Context: Sam was captured a week ago when she, Rowan, Victoria, and Ollie raided a penthouse for information on how to escape the city. She still holds out hope that her team will rescue her, but she is beginning to have doubts as her captors begin to torture her.
Masterpost
TW: captivity, hypothermia, torture
“Wow, you’re still at it?”
Sam flinched and turned, glaring through the bars at her captor. “I haven’t anything else to do, icy pop.”
The woman who called herself Blizzard leaned against the wall, arms folded, observing Sam as coldly as her powers of making snow storms. Sam hadn’t heard her approach, an ability she envied Ollie for. No one could ever sneak up on them.
Blizzard hummed softly and examined her immaculate fingernails. “Perhaps if you behaved, I might be persuaded to find proper enrichment for you.”
Sam rolled her eyes. “No can do, icy pop. Endless circles around my cell works just fine for me.”
Her captor’s eyes flicked up to meet Sam’s. “Do you really still have your hopes set on your friends rescuing you? They don’t even know where we are.”
Sam waved her hand dismissively. “I’m sure Rowan has a plan for that. Ollie’s no doubt listening as hard as they can, and Victoria… Victoria’s doing everything she can to find me.”
“You have a lot of trust in those three.” Blizzard moved away from the wall to stand directly before the bars. “Funny, since they abandoned you to my mercy once they got the information you sought.”
Sam positioned herself opposite her captor. She was almost two inches taller than Blizzard, even without shoes on. “Yeah, Rowan made the logical call in the heat of the moment. But it’s better if only one of us is captured rather than all four.” She casually leaned against the bars. “I can assure you, they’re doing all they can to track me down. For all you know, they’ve already found us and are preparing to strike.”
A flicker of doubt crossed Blizzard’s face, just for a moment. And then it was gone, back to the cool, stony mask. “If that is the case, we’ll just catch all of them this time, and you’ll have some company.”
Sam smirked. “You underestimate Rowan’s talent, Ollie’s skills, and Victoria’s stubbornness. Soon you’ll be the one behind bars.”
Blizzard scowled, no longer keeping up the cold facade. For a few seconds, she said nothing. But her face soon lit up with an idea. “It’s rather warm down here, isn’t it?”
Sam shrugged indifferently. “I dunno. Maybe that talent of yours is messing with your body temperature or something.”
“Let’s fix that.” Blizzard flicked her wrist. A small ball of fog coalesced in the palm of her hand. She swirled her fingers around, shaping it until it resembled a cloud. Nodding to herself in satisfaction, Blizzard allowed the cloud to grow until it was the size of a basketball.
Sam’s mouth went dry.
“Y’know,” Blizzard murmured, continuing to shape the cloud as it grew, “once the shield went up around this city, it stopped the weather from getting in as well as us getting out. It hasn’t naturally snowed in almost twenty years.” She held up the cloud, now the size of a beach ball. “I don’t know why you four broke into my headquarters. We still haven’t figured that part out. So I’ll cut you a deal: you tell me what information you needed and why, and I’ll let you go free.”
Sam blinked and took a step back, staring at the cloud. It swirled violently above Blizzard’s hand, freezing gusts of wind blowing snowflakes into her cell. She’d only been here a week. Ollie and the others might have figured out the next step already, but if they were caught up trying to rescue her… she couldn’t risk ruining the entire mission. They all trusted her with their lives. She had to keep that trust.
“No,” she finally said. The last thing she wanted was to endanger her friends, no matter how close or far they were from their goal. “You won’t be getting that answer from me.”
“Oh?” Blizzard cocked her head, a condescending smile on her face. “Well, that’s too bad. How about you cool off for a while and think it over, hmm?” With that, she lobbed the cloud into Sam’s cell.
Sam ducked, narrowly avoiding the ball of wind and snow. It dissipated against the far wall, sending cold wind and snowflakes across the floor. For a moment, Sam hoped nothing would happen, that Blizzard had just tossed a cloud in to scare her.
Those hopes shattered like glass when the air began to stir. The cloud reformed, floating to the top of the cell where it obscured the ceiling, churning and roiling like a pot of boiling water. The wind whipped around Sam, sending snow all about the cell. It stung like tiny needles against her bare skin.
Sam recoiled, backing into the furthest corner from Blizzard, who watched on, that same damn smile still on her face. “I think I’ll leave you to it,” she said sweetly. “I’ll be back later and perhaps you’ll have reconsidered.”
“Like hell I will!” Sam spat. The wind howled in her ears. She could barely hear her own thoughts, let alone Blizzard's words. Blizzard turned on her heel and vanished out of sight.
Another gust of wind shoved a handful of snowflakes in Sam’s face. She flinched and wiped it away, only for another flurry to attack her legs. Her pants kept it at bay, but the cold still seeped through the thin fabric. Sam dropped to the floor and pulled her knees up to her chin, giving the wind and snow as little surface area as possible.
She rubbed her arms rapidly. The temperature was falling fast. This was gonna suck. Even if Blizzard needed her alive, she would see that Sam was miserable until she gave her what she wanted. Sam closed her eyes and pressed her face against her knees. The snow stabbed into the back of her neck and her exposed arms, but Sam focused on the warmth of her breath against her knees.
Sam could do this. She could hold out as long as the others needed. They would come for her. They had to rescue her. Rowan, Victoria, Ollie, and her were a team. That’s what teams did.
So why are they taking so damn long?
Sam shuddered as the temperature dropped further. She wrapped herself into a tighter ball, conserving her body heat. It hurt to think about it, but Sam had to admit that Blizzard’s words had planted seeds of doubt. Sure, she had acted confident earlier, but now, alone in her cell as wind and snow whirled around her, she began to wonder.
Are they actually trying to find me?
Do they think I’m dead?
Are they focusing all their efforts on escape because they think I’m dead?
…did they hold a funeral?
The familiar burning sensation in Sam’s nose distracted her from her bleak thoughts.
I am not going to cry.
They will come for me.
I can get through this.

Chapter 1 Chapter 3
______________________________________________________________
Day 2
Location : Red Hook Dock, Brooklyn, New York City
Venatrix climbed out of the boat sticking to the shadows of the harbour. She started to count her disadvantages. Problems that needed to be solved.
“One, I have no idea where I am,” she muttered as she ran in a random direction. The first problem was an easy fix.
“Two, how do I get to Los Angeles,” this one would take some time to plan and relied on where she was at the moment. She would probably need to forge a lot of documents if she was travelling illegally. She didn’t even have a birth certificate.
“Three, I need food,” she told herself when she heard her stomach rumbling.
She kept running, a child walking through a place like this all alone would look suspicious. Venatrix took in long even breaths as she sprinted across the harbour. She halted to a stop at the sight of a fence, a small road beyond it. Maybe she could find a bus station, she did have a lot of stolen money at hand. She could take the bus to the nearest airport and sneak into the plane, which wouldn't be the first time she snuck into a plane. Venatrix took a few steps back before vaulting over the fence.
She looked at the brick building, the word “Tesla” on top of the door. She peered through the glass doors to see a dozen sleek cars parked next to each other. She looked around the place curiously, this was the first time she went outside by herself without a comm in her ears. A symbol attached to a pole near the building held the words ‘Summit st’, where the hell was that?
“You lost?” her head turned to the driver of a truck which had stopped. She took a moment to take in the situation. The truck was a dirty green and it stank of flies and compost. The man was huge, white face with pink splotches framed by a scruffy beard.
She took in his accent. New yorker. She might be in the right country. There was still a chance the man had travelled. She quickly crossed out that thought after realising what his job was. She had to be in the US.
“Hello, a little away from home,” she replied. The words scraped through her throat coming out rough. She really needed to talk more.
“I will give you a lift, just tell me where you live,” he opened the door next to him. Venatrix calculated the risk. If a fight were to break out the man had the advantage of strength while she had the advantage of speed and agility. If she got in and fought him inside the truck the outcome would be unpredictable.
“I have never seen a kid think so much,” the driver said after a while.
“Is that bad?” Venatrix asked, deciding to climb in.
“No. Hungry? I still have an extra sandwich,” he pointed at a red lunch box. She should probably eat it, who knows when she will get to eat again, speaking of that…
“Take me to the nearest supermarket.”
“Um..your parent work there?” He handed over the sandwich to her.
“Yes,” she lied.
“You sure it is the nearest supermarket?” he asked, eyebrows scrunching up with worry.
“Very.”
“Okay then, let's go.”
Venatrix tugged the seat belt clasping it to the lock and then proceeded to take the first bite out of the sandwich. You couldn’t even call it a bite, she had taken a small nibble and moved it back and forth over her tongue, ready to spit it out if she detected any drug, poison or anything on it. Once satisfied the sandwich was safe to eat, she swallowed the whole thing.
“Hungry aren’t you?” the trucker laughed. Venatrix shot him a confused look.
“The consumption of carbohydrates, nutrients and other food groups for a human is essential for their health, why is it funny?”
“No.. I was just saying…”the trucker fumbled slightly confused, “kid how old are you?”
“Nine,” she answered but she wasn’t completely sure.
“Smart, real smart. Want some H2O?” He took a hand off the wheel to offer her a water bottle. She grabbed it, following the same process she had used for the sandwich to see if it was safe to consume. She wondered why the man had called it by its molecular formula rather than its common name.
It must be one of those jokes they told me about!
“Thankyou for the dihydrogen monoxide,” she said back, looking at the man hoping for a smile or a laugh. Instead she got a baffled expression.
“What is dihy…whatever that is you said?”
“Dihydrogen monoxide is the systematic name for water, you said H2O instead of using the common name so I assumed it was a joke and not to mention dihydrogen monoxide is actually quite dangerous…..” Venatrix shut her mouth, back at home they didn’t like it when she blabbered.
“Kid you are making me feel really dumb over here,” the trucker smiled back. Venatrix’s heart did a little involuntary victory dance, he had smiled and it meant her joke had worked.
Success!
The man pulled over at the store.
“Here you go, need any help finding your folks?” he asked as she jumped off the truck.
“No, I can see them from here,” she lied, acting like she had spotted someone through the glass doors. She turned back to the driver.
“Thankyou, goodbye,” she bid farewell, turning around and walking into the supermarket. She heard the engine growl as he drove away.
She got a lot of odd looks as she walked around the store in amazement unaware that her mouth was open. Her steps were slow and she wasn’t nearly as vigilant as she wanted to be. There were just so many things. Things she had never seen or heard of. She stuck her head into the refrigerators staring at the tubs of ice cream. She had heard of it but never tasted in and she had definitely not known there were so many flavours. She pulled herself out of it and pressed the back of her hand to the cold tip of her nose. She needed to get her priorities straight.
Venatrix really wished she could get her head in the game but it was proving harder than usual. She stood there in the aisle full of bread. Milk bread, brown bread, sweet bread, long bread, bread with bits of fruit in it, bread with chocolate in it. She stood there like an idiot staring at it not moving an inch. Why was there so much bread?
“Um..need any help?” one of the shop attendants asked. Venatrix’s brain short-circuited. It wasn't meant to short circuit especially not over bread.
“Bread,” was the only thing that slipped out of mouth, a little breathlessly even if she hadn’t done anything strenuous. She quickly walked away a little embarrassed.
She picked up a basket making a list of things she needed. She dropped three bottles of water. It was a very important thing. She searched for food which she could store for longer terms, preferably rich in carbohydrates, energy bars and cornflakes. She had stared suspiciously at the cup noodles for a good amount of time before deciding she could take three. She picked up a notepad and a pen just in case and then she stood in front of the juice section. She had never drank juice and she didn’t think she was allowed to, the same thing went for the cup noodles but she had taken those because she could store it, it was easy to prepare and seemed enough to satisfy her appetite. Maybe they didn’t have to know she had tasted juice but if they found it she was in major trouble.
Risk or no risk?
She stared up at the bottles filled with orange liquid. She thought about it, oranges were healthy but then again she didn’t know if it actually contained the fruit.
“Need help getting that down honey?” A young woman wearing a shirt with the name of the supermarket reached up to the high shelf and dropped the juice bottle into her basket. She gave Venatrix a smile. Did everyone smile so much over here? People back at home rarely smiled and if they did they had a sharpness to them, like a predator who had just found their next victim.
To her horror, the woman then proceeded to reach out her hand towards her. The muscles of her arms instinctively tightened and her hands curled to form fists ready to spring out into a fight. She relaxed in confusion when she realised the woman held no force behind her movement. There was absolutely no way she could hurt her moving that slow. Venatrix leaned away the closer the hand got. The moment she could not bend away any further without looking suspicious the hand nested on her head and then the woman moved it back and forth messing up her hair and walked away.
What was that? It…it felt nice?
She wanted more people to do that thing to her hair. Venatrix looked down at her basket to see the bottle of orange liquid, she looked at ingredients in tiny print. There was orange in it, even if it was only twenty percent. Now that it was in her basket she didn’t want to put it back, they didn’t have to know. A thought struck her, it wasn’t one of her best decisions but she decided to do it.
The high sugar content will give her instant energy and it was good to bring her sugar levels back to normal if she hadn’t eaten. It is what she told herself as she dropped in four candy bars.
Easy to carry around and an excellent source of carbohydrates she told herself as she put in a packet of chips. She also relaxed a little when she saw the packets had the american ‘flavored’ instead of british ‘flavoured’ she was in the right country but it still left the problem that America was huge.
“Oranges help to make collagen which in turn helps in healing wounds and it also boosts the immune system and that is why I am buying it, no other reason,” she told the cashier as she handed the orange juice over to him.
The cashier gave her a few odd looks and asked where her parents were, to which she replied she was here with her brother and he had handed her the money while he went to talk to his friends.
“You going on a camping trip or something?” the cashier asked.
“Yes,” she lied, if the cashier thought that the others might too might as well stick with that.
“Usually kids take a lot more sweets and chips.”
“Dad already bought everything, just needed a few other things, and said we could pick a few other things.”
“Okay then,” he handed her a tote bag filled with her shopping.
“Do you know where me and my brother can find a duffel bag, our old one kinda has a huge hole in it.” Venatrix had concluded that travelling with a tote bag would come across as strange and a duffel would be much easier. The cashier gave her some directions and wished her a happy trip.
Attaining a duffel bag was easy enough to find and she kept up the same story she made up in the store. Her next stop, somewhere she could find transport.
She was in New Jersey and Los Angeles was all the way across the country. The positive side of her mind cheered that they were at least in the right country but the negative side made her yell something. She shouted out a word she had several of her trainers say when they got angry, she never knew what it meant but it felt like the right time to use it. Turns out whatever it meant she wasn’t supposed to say it because she got yelled at by any adult who was within hearing radius. She continued to stare at the bus routes weighing her options. A flight would take six to eight hours and a bus would take sixty-nine hours. Money wouldn’t be a problem, she had nicked over two thousand dollars from the dead people back at home.
She caught a taxi.
“Where to?” the man asked. Venatrix got the faint smell of tobacco from the car.
“Parents?” He looked around for the missing adults
“Already there, some issues came up, they told me to take a taxi.”
“John F. Kennedy International airport please.” The taxi driver shut up and gave her a crooked smile when she handed him the wad of money.

Vigilante WIP Brainstorm
At some point I will clean this up and make official character profiles, but until then, please enjoy my semi-jumbled thoughts and blurry visions of my first story :)
Vigilante Brainstorm
Super powered friend group
beach trips, adventures to relax during chaos, emotional turmoil
vibes are dramedy - Claws
Characters:
RJ
Sebastian
Opa
Violet
Kai
Sebastian is the main character with elemental powers that he can't control. He is consistently trying to boost people up as he believes he is able to handle his own. He comes from a background of emotionally supporting his parents and family until he chose to stroke it on his own with the faith that he was meant for more than. his current lot in life. While outwardly social and friendly, he is constantly looking towards what comes next and how he can improve and move forward. This mix leads to him keeping secrets and being closed off to those around him. He just wishes to be their savior, finding the correct path and then showing others the way instead of relying on those close to him to help him find that path.
Opa is a rough and tumble type that has lived in [city] all her life. She has fought her way off then streets through street and club contacts and using her street smarts to stay afloat. She has a strong aversion to authority and evil. She wants everyone to be protected and is instinctively vicious in her protection of her friends/family and those that she sees are vulnerable and being exploited and/or hurt.
RJ is everyone's big brother. He is someone that feels and acts. There is no room for though, only pushing forward. He cares deeply for those around him, but very quickly involves them in trouble from his impulsive actions. A subconscious lack of care for himself leads him to put himself in danger often, especially if that danger is to protect a friend (n his eyes.)
Kai is the family screw up that is trying his hardest to be the best version he can be. He works hard to be financially stable and dependent of his family's wealth. They use is as a carrot to make him do what they need him to. At least they used to, as he no longer subscribes to their wants or needs (conciously). He leans towards cryptobro in his relation of financial success to completed personhood. He wants to show his friends (and by extension his family) that he is capable, independent, and better than the rest. This can cause hum problems as he attempts to strike out on his own and is one of the Volder me bees of his team, viewing his pragmatic approach as the safest and most catch all of the group.
Violet is an enigma. She is the success of her family. Someone who sees what she wants and attacks it until she reaches her goal. This has led to her selling fake IDs and identity packets to those that can afford. She doers this to give her family more than they've ever had. She wants to give them the stability and ease that the upper class is afforded. This mentality even drips into her fashion and understanding of the world. Her clothes are always ahead of the curb and 0one of the few ways she is able to feel free due to the boundaries she can push with it. She also is aware of the classism that perpetuates the everyday as she is trying to move her family beyond lower class into the freedom and luxury that money provides.
While am origin story has been made, I think it is better to start them as superheroes in a superhero world or possibly have them gain their powers in a power filed world. Maybe they gain these powers from the chemical explosion but aren't the first to gain these powers. They then. don't have to hide as much and are able to have a more casual outlook on this.
If I had to choose themes for this story (very early on) then I would say the top three would be friendship, independence, and trust. These are shown in the main characters backstories and will be shown in the villain's story as well.
The antagonist is a club owner who has looked after her town/city well beyond what the government and politicians have. She has maintained her funding through unknown means until the chemical explosion. This will lead to a discovery that she was the owner of the planet and sold the chemicals manufactured there to give others powers. This began to be sold to the wrong people and this is what the Vigilante was after when they followed him to chase the Vigilante. She uses this money to help her community, but the funds become dirtier and dirtier as her story progresses (possibly in front of the heroes or in the past and the heroes see this ideology come to a head.) She also has a very grey moral compass along with a propensity for violence against those that cross her or her friends. This is something that some of the protagonists deal with in lesser degrees. She will be a mirror in one way or another to each protagonist. As the club owner, she will have the closest relationship with Opa, her bartender.
The Vigilante is a local hero that has stopped other criminals previously. This legend is what leads the main five to recognize him and follow him to the chemical plant which gives them their powers. The Vigilante works to protect the city by his own means, usually having high tech gear and a calling card left with the criminal he has apprehended. This calling card is seen as a taunt by local law enforcement as it undermines their hold/respect over the city. As the city has fallen more out of control the law enforcement has began protecting the rich (and city donators) more and more, essentially seceding the city to the chaos and anarchy overtaking it.
If the five aren't going to start their story receiving their powers and meeting each other, then finding a new start will be imperative. Along with determining the other four's powers.
Sebastian has elemental control, but is unable to control which element he is in use of. This leads to regular retraining and understanding of his powers as problems and fights occur. He works primarily with water, fire, earth, and air (avatar shiiiiiit)
Rj is wild and reckless. He has very little regard for himself and will jump into any situation if he thinks it will protect and/or help his friends. He comes from a troubled background where his family relationships are contentious at best. This causes him to put a lot of value into his close friendships as he sees them as the only ones who have every truly accepted him and thus, are very worth his life in exchange for saving theirs. This reckless behavior and desperate need to protect gives him powers of
Explosions (ala Piper)
Invulnerability
Phasing
Opa is a character that has seen how the world leaves the disenfranchised behind, She carries a lot of anger and has trouble containing it when she sees people being hurt or taken advantage of. This unstable anger will have a big effect on her powers and how it manifests in tough situations. Her powers could be
Explosions (ala Piper)
Ice
Telekinesis
Violet is someone who is brilliant. So brilliant it almost seems effortless as she moves through the world. She does everything to an elite level and often picks up things the quickest. Her powers will be one that feels very beyond her and is something she has trouble handling and controlling. This will test her understanding of herself as she sees those around her surpass her for the first time. Her powers could also include
Telekinesis
Technology Control
Shapeshifting
Kai is someone who is a perpetual fuck up and is doing all he can to show he's anything but. This mindset has given him a very morally grey outlook as he has become an ends justify the means type. He is outwardly distant and relatively cold. He uses this as a way to keep people at a distance and unconsciously show people he isn't any good before they're let down. This could manifest as
Laser eyes (ala Cyclopes)
Super strength
The five of them will have to work to better each other's power sets as they track down the person the Vigilante was chasing. They will also discover the Vigilante's secrets during this process and have to almost blow their lives up to finish their goal. This will cause many climactic tennis near the end battle as they question if its a worthwhile give.
The Vigilante himself is someone that has been in the club where the antagonist and Opa work before, he has no powers, but has put his tech investment money and tech knowledge into a super suit that he uses to fight crimes. What he knows about the residents of the city and who the major players are will be invaluable. There is also the question of if he truly died in the chemical explosion. After being followed to confront the club owner, an explosion is triggered the takes out a big chunk of th chemical plant. When the five awake, they are outside of the plant and confused about how they got there. of course this is followed by the revelation that they have powers.
There is a question as to how much he knew/helped the five the night.
It may be worth writing this origin and giving it as a piece that shows the overall vibe and direction of the series. This would (hopefully) work as an origin and as a start to the story if I decide to use it as such.
I would also like them to run into other supers (along with a superhero fight club) and make a little JLA. There will also be doomed romances and blooming relationships which will color the relationships in new ways. The will also hopefully highlight different angles and perspectives of each other main five while showing the lengths they go and amount they care for and protect each other.
I would like for the series to end with the five in their (new?) apartment smoking along watching the news discuss wither the final climactic battle with the antagonist and its aftermath or a new villain-of-the-week type showing that the five are a fully formed team that work towards the greater good fighting off villains for the city in lie if the Vigilante.

Fall In Line - One - Heroes
Next
Contains: Heroes and villains, a fight, blood
The street was dark, lit up by old street lamps. Henry was on his way home when he saw them. In the middle of the road stood two heroes facing each other, the air around them crackling with the intention to fight.
One was a man in a red sleeveless costume with blue edges. A long strip of red fabric was tied over his eyes to hide his identity, with holes cut out so he could see.
The other was a woman with long, black hair tied up in a ponytail, and a sparkly grey costume that made her look as much like a wannabe pop star as a hero. Henry was kind of cold wearing a sweater under his jacket. This girl was wearing a crop top.
Henry took a step back, and then another, trying to get away without them noticing him. He didn't know who they were or why they were fighting, but he did know that hero fights tended to have a lot of collateral damage. That was one of the reasons being a hero was illegal.
Unfortunately, keeping an eye on the heroes meant he didn't see where he was going. The sound of the pebble wasn't loud when he kicked it, but it was enough for both of the heroes to turn their attention to him.
He didn't know who moved first. If it was him who turned to run or if the heroes decided to attack. If they were attacking him or each other. All he knew was that they were following him, the sound of their fight never too far behind. His sneakers pounded against the pavement, and all he could think of was that he had to get home.
When he got to the door of his apartment building, Henry was completely out of breath. His keys rattled as he fumbled to get them out of his pocket, fingers clumsy with fear.
Something slammed into the wall above him, showering him in brick dust. He turned to see the grey hero standing ten yards away, grinning sharply at him.
"You thought you could escape?" she taunted. "That's cute."
"Let him be!" the other hero yelled, coming up behind her. He was bleeding from several cuts on his arms and face. "You're fighting me, not civillians."
"Oh, but don't you know? This is fighing you," the grey hero said. "That's your weakness, Red. You care too much."
The red hero attacked her and she backflipped away. Henry pushed his key into the lock and looked back to see a silvery force field shoot from her hand. Henry dropped to the ground just in time before it hit right where his head had been. The door splintered on impact.
The grey hero--villain, Henry supposed--cheered. "That's a good one! Hey, Red, what do you bet I get him in the next one?"
"Don't," the red hero said, but he was too far away to stop her. She swiped her hand toward Henry, sending another wave of blue light. It hit from the base of the stairs all the way up the building, and Henry's thigh on the way.
Bricks and dust rained down on him, and when he opened his eyes, he could barely understand what he was looking at. There was a deep gash in his pants. In his skin. He was pretty sure he was looking at the inside of his muscle. At his bone.
Henry was vaguely aware of the heroes fighting again. His ears rang, and there was a pool of blood spreading around him, reaching the edge of the top step and continuing down the stairs.
The door had been blown to pieces from the attacks. Henry dragged himself inside, unable get up to walk or run away. There was a space under the stairs, to the right of the door, and that's where he curled up.
He could hear the heroes fighting outside. The building shook with impact. Henry kept bleeding, until the floor was covered in red, and he was no longer conscious.
