rudeus thinks that fitz is a guy, but he still blushed anyway. he can definitely swing that way as well lol, as long as the guy is feminine ish and has a soft personality.
The Ranoa University of Magic arc in Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 wasn't my favorite. But, it did its job in bringing Sylphiette back into the story.
The second teaser promo was unveiled at the Mushoku Tensei II: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu (Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2) special Green stage at AnimeJapan 2023. The start of second season is scheduled for July 2023.
Jujutsu Kaisen S2 - Currently Airing
This season is turning out to be some of the best animations I've seen from studio bones so far. I personally find that the story is coming together more and the show has definitely upped it's game.
Part 2 -Good lord. We have been blessed and fed good food this season.
Nanami simps won, gojo simps won. It's a good day. Maybe not for every single person in the show. but hey.
For a real review:
I won't lie, season 1 was good. Not great but good. The characters were cool, action was fun, and the story was alright. They honestly knocked it out of the park for season 2.
They killed the character development with the prequel episodes and focusing on characters the vast majority of audiences enjoy.
They upped their animations and the story has been solid.
9.5/10 - Exceptional
Mushoku Tensei S2 (Jobless Reincarnation) - 12 Episodes
One of the goats of isekai anime is back.
I won't lie, the first few episodes had me lost and pretty bored, but I get it, it's important to kill the vibe before moving forward. Easily the best wizard school arc I've seen.
Definitely has a weird focus on EDs but it is what it is, I guess it's the closest you'll get to him understanding his feelings lol. At the same time, definitely made the romance hit harder when it comes full circle.
Weirdly enough, this season hit exactly what I wanted and the animations was more unique than I was expecting.
8.5/10 - Very Good+
Zom100: Bucket List of the Dead - 12 Episodes
This is one of the genuinely good zombie animes I've seen in a while. The concept is fun and the animations are fun. Definitely an uplifting series for an otherwise slow season.
Unfortunately due to the production studio being unreliable, the last 3 episodes are on indefinite hiatus. Otherwise, what we've seen up till has been a blast.
8/10 - Very Good
More under the cut:
Sugar Apple Fairy Tale P2 - 12 Episodes
So much angst in this season. The story definitely didn't feel as enticing as the first half but I'm thoroughly satisfied with the ending. I think, if they decide to do a second season I likely won't watch it. It feels like this season reached it's peak and came back down to a decent conclusion and I'm happy with ending it here.
7/10 - Good
Helck - Ongoing - 12/24 Episodes
This show wasn't for me. The initial concept was funny but then it kept taking turns and I lost interest. There's some decent humour throughout the show but wasn't enough for me to stick around for the "plot". Will be dropping it here.
5/10 - Average
Lvl 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero - 12 Episodes
Some decent entertainment for the background. Another take on what happens to the hero after the demon lord is defeated, definitely one of the more fun ones.
A good one off season.
6.5/10 - Fine+
I was so so excited for the 2023 anime lineup (still am) and mushoku tensei, jujutsu kaisen, and bungo stray dogs were my top shows. I was most excited for mushoku tensei I won't lie but I'm genuinely so disappointed with the animation, music, and the directing. The frames feel off, don't get me started on the fucking animation, and the opening is good on it's own but it's not meeting the standards set by last season's opening. The mystic and historical undertones were doing so well for the series but the new one isn't fitting in.
All in all, not happy with the second season at all till now.
Sylphie and Rudeus equally down bad. A match made in heaven lol. Sylphie imagining how many kids Rudeus would want to put in her while laughing nervously had me crying man. She’s innocent and cute.
If your friends don’t gas and support you like Ariel supports Sylphie with the Rudeus situation, get new friends. Ariel’s got the whole situation back in her kingdom to deal with and her main priority right now is making sure her friend who has been loyal to her for years is happy. That’s so real.
Sylphie keeping the storm clouds together as she and Rudeus walked, in order to trick him into setting up camp in the cave, was just as funny as I’d imagined it when reading. They did cut from that scene a bit where Sylphie imagines buying Rudeus in a slave market. They kind of teased it because she goes “buying Rudeus” internally, but in the LN her thoughts were more explicit.
The “please undress me” scene is probably the most original and intimate confession I’ve seen, at least in a very long time. The parallels back to episode 3 of season 1 in which Rudeus undressed Sylphie and learnt that she was a girl, now doing the same and learning that Fitz is his Sylphie is so perfect. One of the many examples of why I love this series. You just don’t usually see this type of attention to detail in a fantasy LN.
Took a lot of courage for Sylphie to go through with this plan and it never would’ve happened without Ariel’s help so shoutout to her for reuniting two lost friends lol.
Bind delivered in this episode big time. Quality and faithfulness to the chapter(s) were immaculate. If you don’t speak Japanese or didn’t pay attention to the episode titles you may have missed the last 2 episodes titles “Kono kimochi” and “anata e tsuetai” combine to mean I want to convey these feelings to you. Just very beautiful. Well done Bind. Only omissions were Rudeus enjoying Sylphie calling his staff thick and playing with it and the aforementioned sex market stuff

The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by Stephen R. Donaldson, a novel series published from 1977 to 2013, is one of my favorite works of fantasy ever. It’s also infamous for having one of the most loathsome protagonists in modern fiction. The titular character, a misanthropic shut-in who gets transported to another world, sexually assaults a teenage girl in the story’s opening act. It’s a truly horrific moment, and while Covenant never does anything nearly that monstrous again, the weight of his sin hangs over his neck for the rest of the series.
I bring this all up to say that I see the value in stories where the protagonist is a horrible person. Handled well, a story with a main character like this can explore ideas and comment on parts of the human condition that more aspirational protagonists can’t. But there’s an important factor to that equation: consequences.
I don’t mean a moralistic “this character did a bad thing and should be punished by the author for it” mindset. I mean that when a character does something extreme, for good or ill, it should leave an impact on those caught in its wake. Thomas Covenant assaulting a teenager, for example, has far-reaching effects on her, on her family, and on himself, aftershocks that would naturally stem from such a terrible act. Any story that wants to explore this darker side of humanity must be willing to explore how doing horrible things affects the world and people around you, or it risks trivializing the true horrors of the darkness it depicts.
Mushoku Tensei, funnily enough, starts from much the same place as Thomas Covenant. A misanthropic shut-in transported to another world, Rudeus “Rudy” Greyrat is a pedophile given a chance to live a better life and repair his toxic patterns. Mushoku Tensei purports to be a story of redemption, exploring how even the most reprehensible person imaginable can grow into a respectable human being. But it undercuts Rudeus’ growth by constantly shielding him from the consequences of his actions even in his new life, twisting its world and characters however it wants to justify and excuse the horrible things he does.
