Opened up my radicals workbook again. I never did finish studying this book 🫠 I completed these two pages and watched a radicals playlist on YouTube related to these 10. I’ve now reviewed 80 of the 214. I have yet to update my flashcard deck on Quizlet. If your interested in what resources I’m using, refer to my story highlights “MAN Resources”. The name of the book and Radical playlist have been posted 🌸🌸 #morethanonetongue (at Chinese Self - Study) https://www.instagram.com/p/CdvXKXNOn6E/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Chinese Tones | more than one tongue 🌸
Tumblr media
The High, Rising, Falling rising, and Falling 🌸
TONES!
I have made a to-do list on studying the four Chinese tones + the neural tone!
Chinese is a tonal language where the pitch of a word (character) changes the meaning! Which makes tone pronoucation SUPER important.
In my planner I have written down what I will study in the next 1-2 week. I plan to study a little bit of something each day. On my work days, my studying will be a little lighter.
For the past couple of days I have studied:
- my intro to pinyin textbook: unit 5 (tones)
-watched YouTube videos
-and completed daily tone drills + quizzes
What are some resources or ways that you use to study tones?

March 22 • I made a playlist of my favorite Mandarin songs. It's late at night but I'm currently listening while I clean around the house. I find that music motivates me to get things done. Listening to music spoken in Mandarin is fun and will help me with my comprehension. What is your favorite song that's not in your native language? 🌸

Hello welcome to my study nook: - More Than One Tongue - I'm a twenty-something year old Congolese-American. For years, I knew that wanted to learn another language and reach the level of fluency as native speakers. In recent months, I have had the reoccurring thought to sit down and dedicate time to studying a language but they all have lead procrastination. My mind has wandered to "Oh, it's going to be real hard" and "I don't have time" and "I'll start tomorrow". Tomorrow came and studying never happened. Recently one of my favorite YouTubers laoshu505000 passed away suddenly...and he happened to be a polyglot. It got me thinking, life is too short to be pushing my wants in life for another day that is not promised. I want to start my journey to learning another language. So I started More Than One Tongue, I know it will keep me motivated in this language learning process and I hope it gives you inspiration. Join this language learning journey with me ❤️✨ https://www.instagram.com/p/CMgA1R5haNmpimnrHcgIK-7_BzKOw9QV5WAy580/?igshid=19p0xbqgosso1

I woke up earlier than I wanted but took this time to study. Starting with review of the 18 radicals I’ve learned so far. I decided to use the write feature on Quizlet to study them. To be honest I don’t remember stroke orders for some of the radicals, so I will look that over today before I add more radicals to my list. I plan to do some tone drills today and watch some related YouTube content on: radicals, tones, and Pinyin 🌸 #studymotivation #morningstudy #mandarin #chinesemandarin #studyspace #languagelearning #studystudystudy #studyblr #radicals #chineseradicals #quizlet #studymode #aspiringpolyglot #pinyin #morethanonetongue (at Study Desk) https://www.instagram.com/p/CZhSX_PlT4n/?utm_medium=tumblr

z c s zh ch sh r : are so hard to distinguish. I finished my workbook lesson and realized how hard it was to tell them apart. I going to lookup pinyin lessons online and on YouTube and see if that helps 🌸 #mandarin #chinese #mandarinchinese #learningmandarin #learningchinese #languagelearning #langgram #language #languagestudy #chinesepinyin #pinyin #pinyinlesson (at Studygram) https://www.instagram.com/morethanonetongue/p/CY9kOYSOVqL/?utm_medium=tumblr
